Relax on the beach of Bang Tao Phuket. Bang Tao Beach in Phuket: review. photos, reviews. Where is it located, infrastructure

We noticed BangTao beach when we lived in Kamala. Arriving there, we discovered that this beach was not only beautiful, but also the quietest of all that we had visited in Phuket. Bang Tao Beach, as well as its area, is a very calm place.

Bang Tao Beach: reviews and impressions of the beach

The beach is very long. You can walk along it for hours. Coastline wide. It creates the illusion that the beach is endless, it stretches so far into the distance. There are few tourists here even in high season. There are almost no waves. There is no road along the beach, as is common in Phuket. Accommodation is mostly expensive hotels, authentic villages and only a couple of condominiums.

The nature of the beach also sets it apart from the rest. There's more here coniferous trees than palm trees. It’s as if a beach spit and the sea were dragged into the forest.

Casuarina trees on the coast of Bang Tao beach

Sea on Bang Tao: waves, sunset, sandy bottom

The sea is as calm as the general atmosphere of the beach. There are no waves here and swimming is a pleasure. The water is clean, relatively transparent, nothing floats in it, there is no debris or sharp stones, the approach is smooth. The depth increases very smoothly. Everything is great, but there is one peculiarity.

The bottom is very peculiar. It looks like it's muddy. At first we even disdained to set foot. The feeling that you are stepping into some kind of shallow slurry or slurry of mud. It was so unpleasant. Such a bottom usually occurs in village ponds. But you quickly get used to it. After 10 minutes of swimming, you no longer pay attention. Many, it seems to me, may not even notice this. Especially those who missed the sea and came on vacation.

Cleanliness on the Beach

Bangtao is clean. Despite the fact that the beach is so huge, they do the cleaning conscientiously. And the contingent of vacationers here is not the one who will leave behind mountains of garbage and scraps.

Rocker

Sand

The sand is white, fine, like flour. There are no stones, shells or pine branches in it. It's nice to walk barefoot, and it feels great to lie on.

Vacationers on the beach

There are very few tourists on the beach. I would even say that it is not enough, considering that the season is now in full swing. In the off-season, it seems to me that you can come here and be almost the only visitor on the beach. There are, of course, Russians in Bangtao, but I would not say that there are more of our compatriots than tourists of other nationalities. It's not so developed here tourist flow, like in Patong, Karon or Kata. There are hotels, but they are more expensive and the audience is more affluent. As for the people who come to Phuket to live or spend the winter, it also cannot be said that there are many of them here; winterers mostly choose the center of the island or Patong. Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

Bang Tao video

I would recommend Bang Tao beach for those who want to relax on the sea with body and soul, without crowds of people and noisy parties. And at the same time relax on clean beach, swim in a calm sea without waves, and in Phuket this is rare. That is, if you don’t need parties and get-togethers, but just want to take your mind off everything and enjoy swimming and sunbathing.

Sun loungers

Sun loungers are provided on the beach. Are sun loungers banned in Phuket? This rule apparently does not apply to Bangtao. There are not many sun loungers and they are not in all parts of the beach, but you will always find a free one.

Loungers on BangTao

Vendors on the beach

Compared to Kamala and Patong, there was much less pestering. You can lie on the beach for two hours, and during that time no one will come near you. It's a small thing, but nice.

Merchants

Where to eat in Bang Tao?

There are several cafes on the first line on the left side of the beach. You can eat with a view of the sea. I won’t tell you the exact prices, we didn’t eat there.

We got food at the 7-Eleven store, which is very close to the beach. Literally a minute's walk. In the vicinity of the beach you can also find several shops selling cheap Thai dishes. For lovers of strong drinks, there are small cozy bars with booze.

As you can see, Bang Tao Beach in Phuket can be classified, in a sense, as a secluded beach. In Bangtao, even in the high season, there is enough space for everyone, everything is clean, the sea is suitable for swimming, including with children, and the audience is adequate; no drunken groups were noticed.

We are in Bang Tao

Come and relax. Bangtao not only has a wonderful sea, but also has everything you need for relaxation. Here good hotels, there are places to eat, there are several 7-11 and FamilyMart. There is also a tourist market. A 25-minute walk from the beach McDonald's and a medium-sized supermarket.

How to get to Bangtao

From the airport to beach hotels only by taxi. Prices average 500 baht per car. Order a transfer from the airport available on this website →

From Phuket Town you can get to Bangtao by bus for 30 baht. Buses with the inscription "Phuket - Bangtao - Surin - Kamala" start from the Market Bus Station on Ranong Street. Travel time is about an hour. Tell the driver in advance to stop at in the right place. From the road to the beach it is about 15-20 minutes on foot.

Without GPS navigation, getting from the highway to the beach will be problematic. Here is the route from the road, through Soi 12, which we take to the beach:

From other beaches you can get there by taxi or by bus with a transfer in town. There is no direct bus between the beaches. For example, from Karon you first need to get to the town, and then transfer to the desired bus. Same thing back.

But remember that buses towards the beach only run until 17:00! And the last return bus to Phuket Town leaves around 16:00. Therefore, I recommend leaving as early as possible. Alternatively, take a bus in the morning and take a taxi back.

Bang Tao Beach is one of the most expensive and exclusive beaches in Phuket.

Bang Tao Beach (Bang Tao), as well as the Lagoon, is a huge beach, more than 7 km long. Located near Patong in one of the bays of Phuket. Bang Tao is conventionally divided into northern and southern parts.

Considering that Bang Tao Beach is located in a bay, the sea here is always calm. The width of the beach, as well as the length, is impressive, especially during low tides. The sand deserves special mention - it is golden and fine.

Bang Tao Beach on the map of Phuket

The sea near the beach is mostly shallow. However, in some places the depth is considerable, so you need to be careful. The entry into the sea is long, about 15 m.

In the morning, Bang Tao beach is in the shade - it is created by casuarina trees growing along the entire beach. This continues until about 11 o'clock, after which the hot sun begins to reign here. And in the evening, vacationers have the happiness of watching the most beautiful spectacle - the sunset.

The cost of renting sun loungers is from 100 to 150 baht. But, here you can show cunning. As a rule, if you make an order at one of the beach cafes, you can get a sunbed for free.

Beach map

South part

The most popular among holidaymakers South part beach This is due to the fact that the area can be reached by convenient road or on foot from Surin Beach. In this part of the beach, vacationers can enjoy unique restaurants, the construction materials for which were bamboo and palm branches.

Such restaurants on the island of Phuket can only be found in Bang Tao.

The highlight of the center of the beach is the lagoon - these are several beautiful lakes that are connected to the sea through a narrow channel. The Laguna hotel complex located here has the corresponding name. “Laguna” is 7 luxury hotels that have a golf course in their arsenal.

Wealthy tourists like to relax in the central part of the beach.

Northern part

If you prefer a secluded holiday, you should visit the northern part of the beach. It is easy to explain the reason for the low popularity of this part of Bang Tao - it is not so easy to get here.

The beach here is deserted not only from tourists, but also from sun loungers and entertainment.

How to get there

The best way to get to Bang Tao is by rented transport. This is explained by the fact that public transport does not go here, and the cost of a tuk-tuk trip is 500 baht one way.

The cost of the return journey is the same.

It is convenient to get to Bang Tao Beach on foot only from the neighboring Surin Beach. Local transport - songthaew, runs exclusively to the beaches of Surin and Kamala for 50 baht.

Housing

In general, the Bang Tao area is expensive. Prices for housing and food here are much higher than in other areas. Prices start from 1,500 baht, but for this price you can stay in only two or three hotels.

The most common type of accommodation for Bang Tao is a spacious and comfortable hotel with several hundred rooms at its disposal.

The typical cost of living in this type of hotel is from $200 per day. There are 3 luxury hotels on the beach, rooms in which cost from $1,500. It is worth noting that the cost of living at $1000 per day is quite regular prices for Bang Tao beach.

The rest of the hotels in Bang Tao have quite reasonable prices from 100 to 300 dollars per night for “economy class” and from 300 dollars for “luxury” class. Popular: Best Western and Best Western Premier hotels.

During the low season, May-October, accommodation prices are lower.

Available hotels located in the Bang Tao Beach area can be viewed on any hotel booking site.

Entertainment

Tourists on Bang Tao Beach have numerous cafes and restaurants where they can relax in style. Here, unlike similar establishments on Surin Beach, national traditions Thailand both in the kitchen and in the interior. Thai massage from 200 -250 baht.

And the lovers nightlife They will be disappointed in Bang Tao - there are no nightclubs here.

Most importantly, the most popular beach bars are located on this beach - Nikki Beach and Xana Beach and Blease. Where you can listen to good music, dance, eat and watch the sunset.

Starting in November, the infrastructure of Bang Tao makes itself felt. All sorts of shops and cafes are opening, and sun loungers are available for rent. The highest density of sun loungers is near the Bliss club Beach Club.

The shops

As for shops, in this regard, the south of Bang Tao beach will give a head start to the north. It is in the southern part that there are shops, most of which specialize in handmade items from Thai and South Asian artisans. Popular: Lemongrass House, Canal Village, Heritage Collection, Banyan Tree Galleries, located near resort complex Lagoon Phuket.

Tesco Lotus in Bang Tao.

And, if you turn from this street towards the beach, you can find yourself in a Muslim village. In this village, by the way, there are both luxury villas and economy-class hotels, the cost of living from 7,000 baht per month, for renting a room for a long time, and a house from 15,000 baht.

A distinctive feature of the shops on Bang Tao Beach is the absence of cheap goods, which are filled with the shops of Patong. Products in local stores are only of the highest quality. This applies to clothes, shoes, all kinds of accessories, and souvenirs.

Many shops are located in Canal Village.

Designed for people with high incomes, because... Some of the most expensive hotels are built here South-East Asia, restaurants offer a wide selection of delicacies, and spa centers are considered among the best in the world.

For a variety of recreation, there are golf clubs, beauty salons, and chic discos. In addition, everyone can learn how to conquer waves at professional surfer courses, which makes your vacation unforgettable; you will definitely feel the adrenaline. People who don't like risks can take a short trip on a yacht and see undersea world picturesque bay.

The sand is fine, clean and pleasant to the feet, so you can easily walk barefoot. Bang Tao Beach in Phuket is suitable for both middle-aged people and young people. For the convenience of vacationers, hotel management has agreed that everyone can use the services of any hotel, regardless of which one they are staying at. This significantly increases possible options pastime.

Waves in this part of Phuket medium height only in the middle of the bay, on the sides there are either none at all, or they are almost invisible. During the low season (May-September) the waves can be quite large, so various surfing tournaments are held during this period, as well.

Hotels

As already noted, hotels on Bang Tao Beach are mainly aimed at wealthy people (as well as), although there are also good inexpensive three-star hotels. I will list some hotels, and also indicate approximate prices for a room per night for two people (the cost of booking is approximate, since it depends on the day of arrival and departure, as well as the type of room):

  • . The most luxurious hotel in the resort. Beautiful picturesque area, stylish rooms, high quality service is the main feature of this hotel. Vacationers are provided with many places for entertainment and relaxation, among which first-class spa centers and massage parlors stand out. The room can be booked for US$200.
  • . Very comfortable and stylish hotel. The rooms have TV, air conditioning, comfortable beds, and in some rooms you will see real works of art. The restaurants serve delicious dishes that will not leave anyone indifferent. You can get to the hotel in just 20 minutes from the airport by taxi. The room can be booked for $80.

  • . “Average” on the beach: not expensive, the service is quite good, the food is tasty, but not fancy. The rooms are bright, modestly but tastefully furnished. Room prices start at $80.

  • . A very cheap hotel, designed more for “staying the night” than for spa treatments and gourmet meals. Provides its clients with a bungalow that has free Wi-Fi, TV, and a safe. In principle, there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. You can book a bungalow for only $25.

You can book these and other hotels on the website. This is a proven service that allows you to book rooms at the most low prices. Bang Tao Beach is located in an area called Cherng Thalay, so take this into account when choosing a hotel (following the link above you will see hotels in this area).

Entertainment

Bang Tao Beach is one of the longest beaches on Phuket, which is located approximately halfway between the airport and Patong Beach. Bang Tao Beach is located on the west coast of Phuket, where all the most famous beaches are located. Bang Tao Beach is a beautiful stretch of sand that is often associated with the giant resort complex known as Laguna Phuket. This area was one of the tin mines that brought income to the island of Phuket in the old days, when tourism here had not even begun to develop. Later, the Laguna Phuket complex was built here, which received many awards as a wonderful eco-project with hotels of famous international chains such as Banyan Tree Resort, Dusit Thani Resort and Laguna Beach Resort.

IN last years The Bang Tao Beach area of Phuket has received an incredible amount of luxury villas and some new hotels have been built. Not so long ago, this area was considered the most elite in Phuket, but over time it has changed a little and has given the status of the most prestigious beach to Mai Khao, where you can find luxury hotels such as JW Marriott, Sala Phuket and Renaissance Phuket Resort.
Locals wanted their share of the "tourism gold mine" called Phuket Lagoon, but unfortunately beach access is for most local residents blocked. Therefore, you should not count on a wide variety of inexpensive cafes and shops on Bang Tao beach in the area of elite hotels, although you will find several places where you can buy snacks and food.

Video about Bang Tao beach

To continue our acquaintance with Bang Tao beach, we advise you to watch a video about this beach. Even though the video is in a foreign language, it will give you a good understanding of the character of Bang Tao Beach.

Bang Tao on the map of Phuket

Now let's see where Bang Tao Beach is on the Phuket map. This beach lies almost in the very center west coast islands, approximately the same distance from the airport and the famous Patong Beach. In general, in order not to be verbose, I simply marked Bang Tao beach on the map of Phuket.

Bang Tao Beach Map

The map of Bang Tao Beach below is not the most detailed, but it still gives an idea of where the most important facilities in the area are located. If you need more detailed map Bang Tao Beach, then you can simply increase the existing one above interactive map(scroll your mouse wheel up).
Near Bang Tao Beach you will find Cherng Thalay Village, which offers inexpensive restaurants and cafes such as Tatonka, Supper Club and Black Cat, as well as several bars and pubs, souvenir shops and various massage parlors.

Hotels on Bang Tao Beach

Do not think that there are only expensive hotels on Bang Tao Beach. In the southern part of the beach you will find somewhat less luxurious and cheaper hotels, next to which there are inexpensive restaurants and cafes. So, if you definitely want to relax on Bang Tao beach, but do not want to stay in one of the hotels in the Laguna complex, then you can choose the Best hotel Western Bangtao Beach Resort or some other hotel in the southern part of the beach.

Weather in Bang Tao

The weather around Bang Tao Beach is about the same as the weather at other western beaches in Phuket. You can read about the weather in Phuket by month in the corresponding section of our website. We will only note that in the Bang Tao area the weather is usually windier than in the area of other Phuket beaches, which is due to the flat nature of this area, due to which the winds can rush here from any direction.

Weather in Bang Tao now

Bang Tao Lagoon

The name of the complex “Laguna Phuket” did not appear by chance. The Bang Tao Beach area does have a large lagoon, which makes the area more picturesque. Interestingly, this lagoon is used for transportation around the complex. There are several piers here, between which boats ply from morning to evening. True, there is also a flip side to the coin - due to the presence of a lagoon in the Bang Tao area, there are usually a little more mosquitoes here than in others beach resorts Phuket.

Bang Tao Bay

The Bang Tao Beach Phuket area is often called Bang Tao Bay, but in fact this area can only be called a bay with a stretch. Although Bang Tao Beach has rocks on both sides, they are very small in relation to the beach itself. So if you are determined to see the bay here in the full sense of the word, then we hasten to disappoint you. It is enough to look at photos and videos about Bang Tao beach to understand that there is no bay here.

Fishing in Bang Tao

Bang Tao is not the most best place for fishing in the Phuket area, but you can still go on a fishing tour from this beach. Some tourists find local fishermen in the southern part of the beach who are willing to take them fishing for relatively little money. But, of course, you can purchase a fishing tour without any problems; such tours are offered here even in some hotels.

Bangtao Beach is an arc of the beach about 7 kilometers long, in the south it ends with a small cape, where numerous windows and red roofs of villas can be seen on a hill of greenery. The opposite, that is, northern, part of the beach is also surrounded by green hills, but much less populated.

Almost along the entire length of the wide strip of the beach is framed by a casuarina grove. The overall atmosphere of the beach is relaxed and peaceful. Quiet, uncrowded, spacious. Compared to its neighbor, which is located further south, beyond the cape, Bangtao looks rustic and melancholic.

Near the cape in the south, fishing boats are usually anchored in the sea, and just under the hill there are rocks. The water near the boat parking area is not very clean. There are days before the start of the season when very small, match-head jellyfish appear in the water. They burn, but not much. It looks like a slight tingling sensation.

The sand on the beach is quite light, yellowish-gray. The bottom is a little muddy, so the water is somewhat cloudy, although it itself is clean.

Out of season, that is, in summer, it is quite trashy, since no one cleans, there are practically no people and the beach looks a little deserted. No sun loungers, no scooter rentals, no beach cafes. Around April, waves and bad weather arrive, the timid package tourist leaves and the beach plunges into its garbage melancholy, driving fragments of door frames and smaller debris along the waves.

Tourists and infrastructure in the form of sunbeds under umbrellas, beach vendors, small cafes and shops appear only towards the end of autumn. The sea becomes quiet and gentle.

In the mornings there is complete calm and grace. Closer to the New Year, the beach blooms, playing with all the colors of retail outlets with children's toys and colorful T-shirts. Food is served, drinks are poured - life is in full swing. Sometimes you find garbage in the water, but during the season this is the exception rather than the rule.

The beach is crowded near the clusters of hotels adjacent to the shore. The highest density is near the hotel and the Bliss Beach Club with a small pool, cozy sofas, green lawn and high prices for food and drinks.

If you move away from the hotels along the beach, you can easily find completely deserted places during the season. True, there will be no infrastructure either. Only casuarinas and sand.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The entry into the water is quite smooth, it becomes deep after about 10 meters. The bottom is quite flat and without stones, which is basically comfortable for children here. At low tide you can run in the shallow water.

The tide schedule here is quite complex. Towards the end of the season, in March-April, there are strong low tides in the evenings. But this doesn't happen every day. During the strongest low tide, you have to walk about 50 meters in water up to your knees, but there is still a wave, the sea is choppy and often windy.

Before the season, in August-September, low tides occur in the morning, but in this case the sea is usually calm. In the summer, out of season, it happens that the sea, on the contrary, tides so that from a beach that is quite wide on other days, only a thin edge remains. Out of season, approximately all summer, it is generally quite difficult to swim here - strong and a big wave, unexpected debris floats in the water.

One day in June we observed part of a boat being carried back and forth along the waves near the shore. But surfers love waves!

Sunbeds and shade

Near the Bliss Beach Club there are orderly rows of sun loungers under umbrellas. There are four rows during the season. At times closest to the sea, they sometimes charge 150 baht for a sunbed. For the rest - 100 baht.

It often happens that the same people collect fees for sunbeds and sell drinks and simple food from small stands or in small beach cafes; with certain communication skills, you can triple your sunbed for free by buying a drink from them.

Casuarina trees grow almost along the entire beach, and in those places where large hotels adjoin the beach, there are also palm trees. The beach is located so that the sun rises just from behind the strip tall trees growing along the beach. Some tourists at this time are just jogging on the dense sand along the coastline.

The water in the morning is cool, clean and calm, quiet and peaceful. True, to catch all this beauty, you will have to get up with the first rays of the sun, around 6-7 in the morning. By 10-11 o'clock in the morning it becomes very hot and crowded. The shadow from the trees almost disappears. At sunset, the sun sets into the sea, so from a certain moment the shadow from the umbrella also becomes very conditional.

Fortunately, this happens almost at sunset, when the sun is no longer hot. And then one of the most beautiful things happens natural phenomena— sunset, one of the advantages of Bang Tao beach.

Infrastructure

The southern part of the beach is the most developed. Behind the resorts there is a street with cafes and shops, there are also taxi stands, which for 100-200 baht take you to the Tesco supermarket and McDonald's, which are located on a busy road about one and a half kilometers from the shore.

Between this road and the beach is a Muslim village with the cries of muezzins and chickens, mixed with expensive villas and small hotels. Beyond the road there is a village and houses for rent. There are also a couple of 7/11s, a Superchip and a market off the main road.

Rows of shops and local cafes stretch along the road right up to. There are two markets. One is opposite Superchip, about a kilometer from McDonald's. Another one in the evening, just past Tesco towards the beach. They work twice a week each.

Massage on Bang Tao beach for 200-250 baht. There are longtail rides, scooters, and a dive center. In the evenings they walk an elephant along the beach.

Houses and hotels on the beach

Right on the beach there are either large expensive hotels or villas for 200 thousand per month. There are practically no ordinary houses for rent right by the water along its entire length. The reason for this is the 2004 tsunami, which washed away all small infrastructure.

Behind the casuarina grove near the beach there is a quiet and narrow road, behind which there are often fields with cows and vacant lots with bushes. Even further away are the villas and houses of local residents (mostly Muslim Thais).

The main development is in the southern part.

There are several condo hotels with rooms for 1000-1500 per night, not on the beach itself, from 200 to 500 m from it. Between the beach and the main road in the Muslim village there are many houses for rent or rooms in two-story houses. You can also rent a house behind the road, it will be cheaper, but it’s a long walk to the sea. On average, about 10-15 thousand per month at a distance of 1-2 km from the beach. Room from 7-9 thousand.

Approximately in the middle of the beach arc there is a lagoon along which there are houses:

A very large hotel complex with its own infrastructure and ponds, nearby is the Laguna Phuket golf club. There is almost no housing in the northern part, and in general it is quite deserted.

Be sure to check for discounts or special offers on a great service. It will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more profitable than the same hotels in the Booking.com system.

If you want to book a hotel here in advance or look for accommodation on other beaches, I have good rating and reviews.

How to find the beach

From the airport you can take a taxi to the beach in 20-30 minutes and 600-1200 baht. From Phuket Town in about the same time. From other beaches it takes longer, from 40 minutes. Because you will have to drive not along the coast, but through the same Phuket Town. Taxi from Phuket Town 500-600 baht. You can take a motorcycle taxi, it is cheaper.

On public transport, Songthaew, from and you can get there for 40 baht, from other beaches - with a change in Phuket Town, from Phuket Town for 80 baht. If you go to Songthaew, you need to get off at McDonald's.

Tesco is also located there, next to it there is a parking lot for tuk-tuks (a motorcycle with a trolley) where you can get to the beach in five minutes and 100 baht. Out of season you can negotiate for 50 baht, but in season they can ask for 150. By taxi - 200 baht. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the road where songthaews walk.

You can park your car at the beach by driving up to the Bliss Beach Club or on the beach street behind. You can stick the bike almost anywhere.
