Costa de Barcelona on the map of Spain. Coast of Spain. Entertainment Costa de Barcelona Maresme

Everyone is crazy about Barcelona. Tourists come here in droves, but in Spain there are still a lot of resorts located on the Catalan coast. Barcelona is an interesting city, but noisy, and sometimes you want to relax in a secluded and nice place. These include Costa de Barcelona Maresme.

Costa de Barcelona Maresme

Costa del Maresme on the map

History of the resort

Like other resorts in Spain, Costa de Barcelona Maresme was previously just a fishing village. But by the mid-twentieth century it attracted the attention of the nobility, and luxurious whitish cottages and hotels for wealthy Europeans began to appear here. Thus, the tourist infrastructure of the resort gradually developed.

Beaches of the city

Kilometers of soft sandy beaches stretch along the coast. The Mediterranean Sea gently licks the coast. Mountain landscapes are pleasing to the eye. The most famous resort centers are located here: Pineda de Mar, Malgrat de Mar, Saint Paul de Mar, etc.

Leisure on the Costa de Maresme

Not only Barcelona has beautiful sights. In the historical quarter of the resort is the Church of Iglesia de Santa Maria. Here she appeared in the sixteenth - eighteenth centuries. Another temple was erected in Malgart de Mar, the Torre d'en Riera (a sixteenth-century tower) was also built here, and there are palaces and villas created in the Art Nouveau direction. In Castel Park there is an observation terrace, in Pineda de Mar there is the Can Jalpi Palace.

After visiting historical places and cultural institutions, you can move on to active recreational leisure. On the island there is a wonderful Marineland water park. It has many attractions and hosts various programs with dolphins and other animals. You can also see an exhibition of birds of prey. Both adults and children will enjoy the park.

Costa del Garraf

Another resort near Barcelona is Costa del Garraf. The coast stretches southwest from Barcelona to the Llobregat River. Mountains stretch along the coastline, which contributed to the formation of picturesque bays. Most of the territory is a natural park.

In the center of the Costa del Garraf is the popular resort of Sitges. This is a fairly large town with a well-developed tourist scene. Most hotels here are awarded 4 stars. You can go shopping not only in Barcelona. The resort has many fashion boutiques. In general, this place can hardly be called cheap.

Sitges is not the only resort in Garraf; you can stay here in Villanueva i Geltru, Cubellas and other places. Windsurfers will appreciate Castelldefels.

The resorts of Costa de Maresme and Garraf are suitable for both beach holidays and wellness. This is facilitated by clean mountain air, clear Mediterranean waters and a favorable climate.

In Garrafe, as well as in the Costa de Maresme, there is something to see - a knightly tournament or a holiday in a farmhouse. If this is not enough for you, you can safely go to Barcelona, it is only 36 km away.

Barcelona provides tourists with a variety of ways to relax and a variety of accommodation options. The coastline is literally littered with attractions, so you will have plenty to do here.

Costa Barcelona – love at first sight

The Spanish Costa Barcelona or the Catalonia region is a tourist's dream! There is entertainment for the most active travelers, an inquisitive tourist will definitely learn something new, and those who escape the bustle of the city will find peace and tranquility.

One word “Barcelona” brings to mind a number of vivid images - the bizarre buildings of the famous Gaudi, the picturesque coastline, the Game of Thrones castle and, of course, the legendary Messi!

Geography of Costa Barcelona

The Costa de Barcelona consists of several parts. To the south of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is the Costa Garraf, which then turns into the Costa Dorada. The northern part of the region consists of the Costa Brava and Costa del Marisme.

Now let's go on a short journey through each of these parts.

Costa Garraf

This region is chosen by lovers of expensive luxury holidays. The Costa Garraf coast attracts with its wide beaches, mountains and pine forests. Here you will find small colorful tourist towns, which become more and more numerous as you approach the capital. Spreading beaches make it possible to enjoy a more secluded holiday, without having to worry about being close to other vacationers. But don’t think that the resorts of Garrafa are quiet and peaceful. Just the opposite! Here the parties don't stop until dawn!

Costa Dorada– a favorite resort of Russian-speaking tourists

Yes, indeed, in this region you can often find Russian spoken, both among tourists and among hotel staff and street vendors. It is because of this that Russians and other residents of the former USSR choose the Costa Dorada.

One of the most popular tourist towns on the Costa Dorada is Salou. Fans of active and extreme recreation, parties and parties until the morning will definitely like this place. The number of vacationers sometimes goes off scale. But this does not prevent Salou from taking first place among the favorite cities of tourists. The beach and the sea beckon here, and there are many attractions not for the faint of heart, and a lot of restaurants, bars and pubs, where live music is often played, discos and theme parties are held.

There are also calmer, quieter towns in this region. For example, Miami Playa. Small two-story houses are comfortably located here on the lovely coastline. This is a real paradise for those seeking peace and tranquility.

Costa Brava

Another popular resort region, where tourist life is in full swing. Lovers of active recreation will definitely like this place.

The town of Lloret de Mar is endless parties, dancing, singing and dancing! During the day, the huge water park with the famous 80-meter slide will not let you get bored. The beaches here leave much to be desired - the fairly hard sand will not allow you to lie in the sun for a long time. But the surrounding views will definitely take your breath away! And the undoubted advantage of a holiday in Lloret is the very affordable prices.

Not far from Lloret de Mar is Tossa de Mar. This is a picturesque town that beckons with its views and gives no rest to your feet. After all, here you want to walk along mountain paths, sail in a boat on clear waters, and admire the views from the restaurant at the lighthouse. The only drawback to Tossa is the large number of vacationers. But you can always sail to secluded coves and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Roses is a surfers paradise. The bay in Roses is located on the edge, which is why the right wind blows here and allows you to enjoy riding the waves to your heart's content. Those who relax without boards will also be pleased with this town - the beaches are wide, there are fewer tourists, and the prices are pleasing.

Costa del Marisme

The most famous tourist cities in this region are Pineda de Mar, Calella, Santa Susanna. This region is a real find for lovers of an economical, quiet and leisurely holiday. Here you will not find clubs or noisy discos, and cafes and restaurants are often closed by 11 pm. The beaches are wide, the sea is deep, the waves are big.

Catalonia is perhaps the most popular part of Spain among Russians (still Spain, although a lot is being said and done to gain independence for Catalonia). A huge number of charter and regular flights from different cities of Russia land in the capital - Barcelona.

Mild climate, inexpensive hotels with good food, proximity to the beautiful city of Barcelona, Antonio Gaudi, Salvador Dali, gothic, modern, classic... All this can be found in Catalonia.

From resort towns you can travel to Barcelona, visit other regions of Spain, close to France, Andorra.

From Barcelona there are fairly inexpensive flights to Rome, Paris, Venice, and Lisbon.

The main resorts of Catalonia - north of Barcelona: Costa Brava and Costa del Maresme). The Costa Brava, after the city of Blanes, becomes the Costa Del Maresme.

IN south direction from Barcelona towards the city of Tarragona there is a coast Costa del Garraf with the Garraf mountain range of the same name, passing after Tarragona into the sunny Costa Dorada (in the Catalan version Costa Daurada).

Coastal cities

I will describe the cities to which our tour operators sell tours.

Costa Dorada

The warmest coast, the unofficial tourist capital of which is the city of Salou.

Salou

Salou is popular among tourists due to its proximity to the Port Aventura theme park, and also attracts with numerous restaurants, clubs, bars, and wide beaches with soft sand. The sea is beautiful and the water is slightly warmer than on the coasts of Brava and Maresme. What is relevant, for example, at the beginning or end of the season.

Salou is quite a big city. The most interesting place to relax there is in the central part, which runs along the embankment. There are two singing fountains on opposite sides of the embankment. One is more modern with a laser show (near the railway station), the second was built by the architect Carlos Buigas, who created the famous “Magic” singing fountain on the Montjuic hill in Barcelona.

There are many interesting villas on the embankment near the railway station. Some have good restaurants.

Another interesting area Cup Salou (Cape Salou) . It is located on a hill, surrounded by pine trees. The beach is located in a bay between rocks. You need to go down to the water. The place is very beautiful, however, it is far from the center. The area is connected to the central part by bus service. Buses of the Plana network also go to neighboring cities - Reus, Tarragona, as well as to Port Aventura and Barcelona.

From Cup Salou we go straight to La Pined y (not to be confused with Pineda in Maresme). The town is pretty sad. At night it is quiet and peaceful there, unlike Salou, where life is in full swing around the clock. But in La Pineda the hotels are cheaper and higher class, and there is also a Pacha club and a water park. Personally, I love action, so I choose the center of Salou. If you want a quiet holiday, then you can choose La Pineda. In fact, La Pineda and Salou are a single resort area.

These places are popular because Salou is home to the Port Aventura theme park. I advise everyone to visit it, even those who do not like attractions (for example, me)). The park is very interesting.

On the other side of Salou (moving away from Barcelona) there is the city of Cambrils. This is where locals prefer to live, while Salou is more of a seasonal city.

The biggest disadvantage of a holiday on Dorada is that the train pass is not included in the integrated transport system, as with Brava, Maresme and Garraf. On these three coasts you can buy a T10 pass for 10 trips, with which, after traveling by train, you can travel on the metro/buses/trams using the same ticket for a certain period of time (1 zone - 15 minutes). Thus, having arrived by train at Barcelona station from Maresme, you can use the same ticket to get to del Garraf. Or take the bus/metro and go to the other end of the city. Since a ticket for a single trip in 14 cost already 1.8 euros.

A round trip from Salou to Barcelona costs about 20 Euros - not much cheaper than the universal T10 from Maresme for 10 trips. If you travel from Dorada to Barsa often and move around the city, then the travel expenses will be very large. And the distance is longer. It takes 2 hours by bus, about an hour and a half by train.

By the way, you can go shopping to the neighboring cities of Reus and Tarragona. There is Mango in Salou. Dorada resorts are good in themselves. Foreigners come to relax, Barcelona doesn’t bother them much, so they love Dorada very much.

Costa Del Garraf

The city is considered the tourist capital of the coast Sitges , located half an hour from Barcelona (line R2 from Barcelona Sants station). The coast itself is very beautiful - mountain range, coastline. And Sitges is a very worthy town and a level above the rest of the tourist crowd in Catalonia.

The city has good shops and clubs. In general, Sitges resembles the towns of the French Riviera. The beach area is surrounded by breakwaters, so the sea water warms up quickly. Swimming in mid-June is quite comfortable.

The city is popular with gays. Lots of shops and clubs for gays, gay beach.

A gay pride parade is held on the 15th of June. A very cool spectacle. It looks more like a show or a carnival, and most likely that’s what it’s held for.

Calafell

A town with nothing at all and nothing to do. The only good thing is that it is close to Barcelona.

Costa Brava

The most fun town on the Costa Brava is Lloret de Mar . But all Russian tourists call it Lloret de Mar. There are many clubs, discos, and fashionable hotels in the town. Although the resort is more youth-oriented. Very nice historical center. Not far away in the mountains there is a beautiful private castle, very beautiful.

The beach area of the central part is located in a bay and is surrounded by small rocks. The beach strip is narrow. During high season, the beach is crowded with vacationers.

There are breakwaters and coves where you can swim during windy weather. The beach has coarse golden sand.

The downside is that the town is remote from Barcelona and there is no train station. To go to Barcelona, you need to take a bus to the R1 railway station in Blanes, and from Blanes you need to go to Barcelona by train. Or you can go to Barcelona or neighboring Girona by bus from Lloret bus station. The journey to Barca can take about 2 hours.

Those who want silence should stay closer to Fenals beach. There is a good hotel ALVA PARK RESORT & SPA 5* (formerly Rigat Park).

City of Tossa de Mar the most remote, but very beautiful.

Blanes

As I already said, there is a railway station in Blanes, but the station is far from the resort area, so you need to take a bus or walk for a long time to get there, which is inconvenient. Blanes is quite large, but quieter, more boring and simpler than Yoret. There is absolutely nothing to do there. And it’s hardly worth choosing for relaxation.

Malgrat De Mar and Santa Susanna

In Malgrat there is mortal melancholy. All things to do in Santa Susanna. Although both towns are small, with a border in the form of vegetable plantations.

There are railway stations. The cost of a train ticket is more expensive than from Maresme - the next zone.

Costa Del Maresme

This coastline, stretching along the railway, has many inexpensive hotels.

Costa Del Maresme

This coastline is located along the R1 railway line to Barcelona. Therefore ideal proximity to Barcelona. There are a bunch of coastal resort towns along the road.

Kaleia

I really like Kaleya. Wide beach strip. Nice center, good restaurants, many clubs. There are many shops, there is Desigual, Lacosta.

The coast is open. If there is wind, there will be strong waves. There is a railway station. Barcelona is an hour's drive away.

The beach is separated by a boulevard. People walk, relax on benches.

Pineda

This town smoothly flows into Caleia. The city itself, with fountains, a local diagonal, and generally quite nice. The prices there are much lower for food and everything.

But you can choose Pineda only to save money - hotels are cheaper than in Caleia. There is nothing to do at all in the evening. It happens that after 23-00 you can walk around half the city in search of an open bar/restaurant. There are no clubs or discos at all. True, hotels arrange animation and offer an all-inclusive system. There are many mini-hotels for European old people. They organize luxurious concerts, costume dances, and sing. So cute.

And not far from the station there is a cafe, nicknamed by a friend “Scrambled Eggs”. There really is a picture of fried eggs on the sign. They make an excellent Sangria, very inexpensive to boot.

You can take a taxi to the clubs of Kaleia and Santa Susanna - 10 euros.

And finally, you can have a great time on the beaches of Barcelona itself. True, those who are spoiled by the clean sea and proximity to resorts frown and suggest it is better to go to the clean beaches of Brava, Dorada, etc. On weekends, huge traffic jams form from Barca towards these places. But if you want to enjoy Barcelona and not have to travel far to the beaches, feel free to choose Barcelona. The beaches in the Barceloneta area have been improved there a long time ago - you can have a great time.
