Where is the best place to relax in Vietnam? Everything about holidays in Vietnam: reviews, tips, guide. Is it possible to vacation with children?

There are 15 main resorts in Vietnam, where it is better to go on vacation with children, a loved one or friends. Top three: Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc. In this article you will find short description differences between resorts, prices for tours, hotels, air tickets, weather, when is the best time to go and what to do.

Where is the best place to go on holiday in Vietnam - 15 resorts and cities

Mysterious Asia has always tormented my imagination with its mystery and unique atmosphere. Vietnam is one of the countries that attracts the attention of not only foreigners, but also Asians themselves.

You can cross Vietnam from border to border, from north to south, and everywhere will be incredibly beautiful. When they ask me where is the best place to go in Vietnam, I ask a counter question: “What do you want to find in this country?” Because Vietnam combines everything: from shopping and beach holiday to historical sights and long trips on motorcycles. Don’t worry if you can’t answer the question right away, this article will help you with your choice.

Some resorts need to be reached by bus, and this is also the most cheap way move between cities. You can buy tickets online on the website or on the spot. I used the services of a Vietnamese carrier company Hanh Cafe, I was satisfied. They are not available in all cities, but you will find offices in large southern resorts. Is there some more Sinh Tourist.

Which resort to choose based on the weather

Map of Vietnam with resorts in Russian

Geographically, Vietnam stretches along the coast from south to north, so you can come here all year round and experience good weather every time. True, every time in a new place. Therefore, you need to decide when you are going to go on vacation to Vietnam. This is because the country has both a dry season and a rainy season, when rivers overflow their banks and the country is literally immersed in water. It’s not pleasant to stay in a cool city upon arrival, not daring to visit something because of the washed-out roads, you’ll agree. That’s why it’s so important to understand what the weather is like in the resorts of Vietnam.

For convenience, let's divide Vietnam into 3 regions: northern, central and southern, so that you can understand where and when to go on vacation. I noted the most successful and unsuccessful months for the trip. The rest are fine.

North (Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Long Bay)

People go to the north of Vietnam for trekking walks in the mountains. For these purposes here better to come at the end of the year- from October to December. It will be dry and warm. In summer it often rains and storms.

Center (Hoi An, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet)

In the central part of Vietnam, where all the best resorts for beach holidays are, rainy season from September to January. This does not mean that it rains from the sky endlessly here, but you will have to get wet. Many people go to Nha Trang in November, this is not a very good choice. Yes, it’s cheap, but the weather is cloudy and the sea is dirty, in which you can’t really swim. In November, it is better to choose Mui Ne.

Good months: from January to August.

South of Vietnam (Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City)

Southern Vietnam is great for a winter holiday. The most popular resort in the south is Phu Quoc Island. In Fukuoka, rain is a relatively rare visitor; you can come here almost all year round. The most unlucky months – August and September. But in November-January, when you most desperately want sun and warmth, Fukuoka has wonderful weather.

Dry months: from November to May.

The best resorts and cities in Vietnam

For me, Vietnam is not exactly a story about beaches and lazy resorts; one city is not enough for me; the country is so beautiful that I want to travel all over it. If you are of the same opinion, then in the article you will find a 7-day route around Vietnam and a 14-day route from north to south. Because for you the main question is not “where is the best place to go on vacation in Vietnam,” but “how best to travel around it all.”

If you want to relax in one place, then just read on. I'll start with the tourist cities in the north and further south, so as not to break up our weather logic. All beach resorts Vietnam is located further south.

Sapa

Sapa is located in the very north of Vietnam. This is one of the most beautiful places in the country. All thanks to the multi-stage rice terraces in the mountains, often covered with layered, creeping fog. The views are amazing. The town of Sapa is also popular for its market, where locals bring handmade products and clothes for sale. Vietnamese from northern villages are a different story. They live in large families in villages without the Internet, running water and other benefits of civilization. They wear bright clothes national costumes and with just their appearance, time machines are better at transporting you into the past. You will practically not find Russians on Sapa; in the northern part of Vietnam, mainly only Europeans and Americans vacation; our compatriots choose resorts further south. Therefore, there are no package tours to Sapa.

Weather: The best time to travel to Sapa is from November to January. At this time, the weather here is dry and sunny, the temperature is +18 - 21 degrees. The warmest month is April. In summer it rains frequently.

Things to do: People come to Sapa for trekking trips in the mountains. Another entertainment is motorbike tours through rice terraces, waterfalls and local villages with a colorful population.

How to get there: only from Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam.

Where to stay:

Ha Long

Until recently, it was a province next to Hanoi, but with an increase in the flow of tourists, Ha Long quickly became a popular resort in northern Vietnam with many hotels and developed infrastructure. The local beaches are artificial, however, in my opinion, it’s worth going here not for splashing in the sea, but because of the 2,000 islands in the bay. Ha Long Bay - object World Heritage UNESCO. This is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. You can swim in the bay only by purchasing an excursion; you won’t be allowed to go there on your own on a boat. To see everything, it is better to take 2 days. You can take a tour in the city of Hanoi, or come on your own and buy it on the spot.

In Ha Long you can stay on Cat Ba Island. This is the most big Island in the bay, it has its own resorts and hotels. It is all covered with greenery (absolutely all), but you won’t find a beach holiday here - there are no beaches. The island is beautiful national park and from here there are also cruises around the bay.

You can stay in the town of Hafon, which is located next to the bay.

Weather: It is best to come in November, April and May, at this time you are more likely to experience sunny weather. The sea is warm and the air temperature steadily rises to +28 degrees.

Things to do: buy a tour of the bay and climb Mount Bai Tu, which offers stunning views of the entire city and the surrounding bay.

How to get there: from Hanoi by bus. If you take an excursion to Hanoi, you will be taken by transfer there and back.

Where to stay:

Hanoi

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. Despite its difficult military history, it is one of the most interesting and modern cities in Asia. It is very easy to get here - planes fly from everywhere. People fly from Russia on their own to either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Despite the fact that these are the 2 largest cities in Vietnam, the atmosphere in them is completely different. Hanoi is the cultural heart of Vietnam, and Hosh Minh is the economic heart. This is not a cold concrete metropolis - there is a beautiful lake and many parks in the city center.

Weather: best months To come here - December, January and February. Despite the fact that in Hanoi at this time it is relatively cool, on average +22 during the day, there is practically no rain. The summer months are hot and rainy.

Things to do: walk for a long time along the narrow streets, go to museums, opera houses, markets, do exercises with the Vietnamese in the morning on the shore of the lake, get acquainted with the nightlife. In general, everything that any capital is famous for.

How to get there: by plane from anywhere in the world.

Hue

We got to the very center of Vietnam on the map. Hue is an interesting tourist, but not a resort city in Vietnam. People don’t come here for a long time, usually for a couple of days, to touch the history. Hue is another UNESCO heritage site in Vietnam. This city was once the imperial capital when the Nguyen dynasty ruled the country. Traveling around Vietnam, you can find shops in every city named after owners with the surname Nguyen. But Hue became famous thanks to its participation in the Vietnam War. Bullet marks still decorate the walls of the city.

Weather: The best time to travel is February, March and April. The rainiest month is October. The temperature is warm, as in the rest of Vietnam, but it can be wet.

Things to do: visit the Forbidden City, the entrance to which was accessible only to emperors and their concubines, see how the Vietnamese emperors lived, count the traces of shells in the walls of the Citadel, look into the tombs of the emperors. The most convenient way to explore the city is by bicycle.

How to get there: from Russia you can fly to Da Nang, there is an international airport, and from there by bus/train/plane to Hue. It's cheaper by bus, of course.

Where to stay:

Danang

Quite a famous resort located in the center of the country. The best time to come here is from April to June - warm weather and waves. An ideal place for surfing and a relaxing holiday. Da Nang is the fifth largest in Vietnam and the first real seaside resort on our list. This is a big beautiful city. Is it true, tourism infrastructure is growing in Da Nang more slowly than the flow of tourists.

There are good beaches here - Bac My An and My Khe. Admission is free, but you have to pay for an umbrella and sun lounger. The sand line is incredibly wide and long. Moreover, it is close to the airport.

In my opinion, the only negative for recreation is the distance of the city center from the tourist area. There are few shops on the coast, especially during the non-tourist season, and there are almost no buses. For some, the advantage is that Russian tourists rarely choose this particular resort, which means they can completely immerse themselves in the atmosphere of another country. On the beaches of Nha Trang, for example, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was in Russia, only around, in addition to the Russians, for some reason there were a lot of Chinese.

Weather:+23 - 32 degrees depending on the month. Best in February - April. It is hottest in May. It rains frequently in summer and autumn.

Things to do: relax on the beaches, walk around the city, shop, explore the nightlife, go to neighboring Hue and Hoi An.

How to get there: You can directly from Russia by plane. There are package tours to Da Nang. If you are tired of Nha Trang, then this is a good alternative.

Hoi An

An ancient port city with unique ancient architecture, which has fully preserved its features. Another heritage site and one of the most interesting cities in Vietnam. The only negative is that there is no sea, the “resort” itself is located on a river, several kilometers from the sea coast. However, you can settle near the beach, but tourists prefer the Old Town with its calm atmosphere - a quiet island in the middle of noisy Asia. In addition, it is the easiest way to get to the Marble Mountains from here.

Hoi An was once a French resort; here you will find traces of colonial architecture mixed with oriental flavor.

The beach here is clean, called An Bang. The descent to the water is gentle, and the sand is very light. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided by local restaurants. Hoi An is interesting if you have already been to Vietnam and don’t know where else to go.

Weather: It’s better to come in winter or early spring; at other times hurricanes and, of course, traditional Vietnamese floods come.

Things to do: walk around the entire old city, have dinner in a restaurant-boat by candlelight, go to the Marble Mountains, buy a sailor's suit (they make them here), rent a moped and ride to the beach.

How to get there: The easiest way is by bus from Da Nang. Yes, even from Nha Trang, but the drive takes 11 hours.

Where to stay:

Nha Trang

Cam Ranh

Cam Ranh is a seaside resort in Vietnam, which is literally 20 minutes from Nha Trang and very close to the airport. There is a calmer, measured life here, better beaches, large hotels with territory (you will hardly find these in Nha Trang). Meals are usually all inclusive, which is rare for Vietnam, usually only breakfast.

The most famous beach here is Bai Zai. It stretches for 15 km. There is very nice fine practical white sand here. Tourists from Nha Trang often come to Bai Zai, tired of the dirty central beach with crowds of Russian and Chinese tourists. The only downside is that the waves are stronger, it’s difficult to swim normally, you just have to jump over the waves.

The city of Cam Ranh is worth a trip if you like beach holidays and good 5-star hotels. At the same time, Nha Trang with shopping and nightclubs is just 20 minutes away by taxi, bus or moped. Taxis in Vietnam are inexpensive.

Weather and air tickets - everything is the same as for Nha Trang. Planes to Nha Trang land at Cam Ranh Airport.

Dalat

© Jane Jean / flickr.com / CC BY 2.0

Dalat - mountain resort in Vietnam, a former French colony. It was built by the French, who tried to escape the tropical heat into the saving coolness of the mountains. That's why it is called the City of Eternal Spring. What remained from the French were beautiful colonial-style houses, and the city itself in the mountains over time became overgrown with narrow Vietnamese houses.

Dalat is a small city, in its center there is a lake and a circular embankment. The streets are narrow. If the center is on a flat area, then the roads diverging to the sides from the center lead upward at different intricate angles.

The best way to spend time in Dalat is to rent a motorbike and ride around the local waterfalls. Due to the mountainous terrain, bikes are mainly rented from manual transmission, which you can’t deal with quickly. So ask for automatic.

If you can rent a bike in Nha Trang for an average of 100 thousand dong per day (about 300 rubles), in Dalat for 200 thousand. Moreover, without a passport they will only give you the oldest bike, I checked. And the passport is collected at the hotel. Therefore, go to the reception and ask the owners to help you with your rental. The bike was delivered to the guest house and picked up there.

There are few Russian tourists, mostly they are brought on excursions from Nha Trang for 1-2 days, Chinese French city a little too.

Holiday season: The driest months are winter, and sudden rains are common in summer. The sunniest months are February and March. It's hottest in the summer. In winter, the average temperature is 18-20 degrees, in summer it reaches 28-30. No tropical stuffiness.

Things to do: visit numerous waterfalls and parks, see temples and pagodas, and ride a cable car.

How to get there: Buses run from Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Ho Chi Minh City. It has its own airport and can be reached by plane.

Where to stay:

Vung Tau

The city of Vung Tau was built in Vietnam in the 19th century by French colonists. They wanted to create a seaport-resort that was not inferior to Dalat. Over time, convenient roads from Saigon were built to the resort, fortunately the distance is only 128 km, which served as an impetus for the active development of the resort. Now rich Saigon residents like to relax in Vung Tau. Because of the abundance Vietnamese tourists the beaches are dirty, and foreigners are looked at with joyful surprise. Moreover, it brings mud from the Mekong.

It's good to visit this city in winter period, since there is a Russian quarter and, accordingly, work for Russian speakers. A place where you should fly not for vacation, but for a temporary change of place of residence - each of us sometimes wants to unwind and change the situation. What if you decide? Although, I would choose Nha Trang or Danang for wintering.

Weather: It is better to come from November to April - this is the dry season, from May to October it rains. The warmest month is April. Temperatures rarely drop below 30 degrees.

Things to do: see pagodas and historical areas, move to live in the winter months. Although, in my opinion, Nha Trang is a better place to live. The only plus of Vung Tau is that there are fewer tourists, but if you rent accommodation not in the tourist area of Nha Trang, then this will be compensated.

How to get there: from Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Saigon, all the same buses and planes.

Con Dao Islands

This review of resorts would not be complete without Con Dao. Con Dao is not just one island, it is an archipelago of 16. A very secluded place for fans of diving and eco-tourism. Mass tourism will only destroy the charm of this place, where you can find many exotic plants and animals. It's quiet here, there are few tourists, no public transport. In addition, almost all the shores are steep, which makes beach holidays difficult - only in the east of the island there are secluded sandy areas.

Weather: For diving you should come here from February to July - the water is clean.

Things to do: diving in the clear sea, relaxing holidays, excursions to local prisons, which were famous for their cruel regime towards prisoners.

How to get there: by plane or ferry from Ho Chi Minh City.

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are neighboring resort towns in Vietnam; they are often combined into one area because they are very close and they have common attractions. Phan Thiet is more of a city, and Mui Ne is a fishing village. There is only one street and a bypass highway. There are many good large hotels along the coastline with private beaches. This is more of a youth resort.

Mui Ne is worth going to if you want a lot of sea, sun and sand. A lot of sand. Ham Tien Beach is always lively, while Pu Hai and Suoi Nuoc are uncrowded and clean. In summer, on the beaches you can admire surfers conquering the waves. They come from all over the world. There are a lot of European tourists in Mui Ne. But for a beach holiday, especially with children, it is better to come in late autumn to experience a calm sea. This is to give a brief description of the resort. It has its own natural attractions and offers excursions. I really enjoyed Mount Ta Ku and you will find some insanely beautiful scenery at the Ke Ga Lighthouse.

Ho Chi Minh City

© Nguyendangduy / pixabay.com / CC BY 2.0

Ho Chi Minh City is also known as Saigon. The main battles in the war with the Americans took place here; the local radio constantly broadcast news from Saigon, often disappointing, so in order not to once again evoke difficult memories among local residents, the city was renamed.

Ho Chi Minh City is perfect for all big city lovers. A huge buzzing beehive is the main economic city of the country. The streets are full of cars and motorbikes (almost 8 million registered motorbikes, just a minute!), an insane number of restaurants and cafes, the most... best shopping in the country, luxury nightclubs. The main attractions of the city are collected in a small central region Dong Hoi is home to the Ho Chi Minh Museum and the local Notre Dame Cathedral, and in the old Da Cao district you'll find 19th-century French colonial architecture. The famous Cu Chi tunnels are absolutely poisonous; if you are interested in the history of the Vietnam War, be sure to visit them.

Phu Quoc

You will find Phu Quoc at the very bottom of the resort map - it is the southernmost and one of the best resorts in Vietnam. Phu Quoc is becoming an increasingly popular resort among Russians every year. A quiet island with a calm, measured life. A wonderful place for snorkeling. Here are the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in Vietnam, and the clear water allows you to fully appreciate the underwater views. The infrastructure is still developing, so nightlife is still in its infancy.

Fukuoka has its own Vinpearl, it is best suited for families with children.

Weather:

  • from November to March – the most comfortable weather conditions;
  • from April to June – heat, short-term heavy showers are possible;
  • from July to October is the rainy season.

Things to do: eat fruit, sunbathe on white sandy beaches, swim in clear waters.

How to get there: if on your own, then from Ho Chi Minh City, charters fly with vouchers.

This is where I will finish the lengthy description of the resorts. I hope my article will help you with choosing a place to holiday in Vietnam. If you are going to Vietnam for the first time, then choose Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Phu Quoc. These are the most popular resorts in the south of Vietnam, the cheapest tours here, and the most developed tourist infrastructure. From the point of view of an ordinary tourist, we can say that these are the best resorts in Vietnam. The central part of Vietnam is more suitable for independent rest, the northern part of the country usually brings the most experienced travelers.

With the onset of May, tourists have a huge choice of countries where they can bask on the beaches, swim in the warm sea and open or continue the beach season. Someone is in a hurry to Europe, where the season is just beginning, and someone is flying to Southeast Asia in order to have time to relax in those parts before the rainy season begins. If you decide to take a risk and visit Vietnam, then you should know where it’s better to go on holiday to Vietnam in May, which resort to choose to have good weather and the prices were reasonable. Let's try to understand this issue.

More and more more tourists visit the country every year. And those who have visited here on vacation once are happy to return again. And all because the country has a well-developed infrastructure, luxury hotels, unique nature and endless white sand beaches. But coming here in May is not particularly recommended. After all, the rainy season begins in this region of Asia, and you can get caught up in the monsoons and spend your entire vacation in a hotel room. Although, as for Vietnam specifically, it doesn’t rain everywhere at the end of spring. Where are they not? Read on.

Monsoons, which cover almost all of Eastern Asia from late spring until autumn, make it difficult to fully enjoy a beach holiday. But tourists mistakenly think that at this time it rains from the sky for days on end. It's not like that at all. Of course, there are prolonged rains, but mostly monsoons are short-term downpours that bring with them winds, large sea waves and floods. Between the rains the sun comes out, heats up very strongly and the air temperature instantly soars to +40 degrees. The sun may shine for an hour or half a day, and then the wind will blow again and charge a heavy downpour. It is because of the unpredictability of the weather that tourists do not fly here. Few people want to be on the beach in the midst of the elements and feel the power of the wind, waves and other natural phenomena. In Vietnam, the rainy season does not begin throughout the country. At first it covers some areas, and the closer to summer, the more territory the monsoons conquer.

The rains arrive later in the center of the country, in cities such as Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue. Almost until July there are no heavy downpours, and it rains 5-7 times a month, while the rains are weak and not at all like monsoons. Here in May the most tourists are observed. And residents of other regions of Vietnam come to these cities, away from the rain and closer to the beaches. Besides the fact that there is no rain in the center of the country, there is no heat either. The average air temperature is about +31 degrees, evaporation is very small.

We have new reviews from tourists about holidays in Vietnam at different times of the year. Read them, they will help you choose the best resort in the country.

Favorite resorts in Vietnam: Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Mui Ne and Con Dao Island also experience excellent weather. During the day, the air temperature is no higher than +32 degrees, and the sea shows +28 degrees. But it’s not entirely safe to rest here. The rains are getting closer and closer to the south of the country and the humidity is increasing greatly. Even if you are lucky and there is no rain during your holiday at the resorts, it will still not be comfortable, since the air humidity is at least 82%. Such air humidity is difficult to bear, and people with heart and blood pressure problems should not come here at all these days.

The north of the country is already completely at the mercy of the monsoons. It rains here 23-25 days a month. As we said above. It hardly rains all day. But they can be taken more than ten times a day. Therefore, the north of Vietnam is not at all suitable for a holiday in May.
Phu Quoc Island is also one of the favorite places among tourists. They come here all year round, and this is not without reason. According to statistics, the rainy season lasts the shortest here. And the air temperature always stays at approximately the same level around +32 degrees. But you shouldn’t relax, as the weather is changeable, and it rains in Phu Quoc 5-7 times a month.

Where to go for sure?
Unfortunately, it is difficult to predict the weather in Vietnam in May. Local weather forecasters do not provide forecasts in advance as winds change and the direction of the monsoon changes. If you are going to Vietnam at the end of spring, then be prepared for the fact that you may spend your entire vacation in hotels and watch the rain outside the window. The best option is to head to the south of the country. It rains the least here, and the gap between rains is longer.

What to do in Vietnam in May: beach, excursions.
Since the weather in the country in May can present an unpleasant surprise, you need to figure out in advance what to do in case of rain. There are a huge number of excursions in the country. But during the rainy season, their diversity decreases sharply. For example, there are almost no excursions to nature, to the mountains and to plantations. After all, in the rain and strong wind it is very dangerous. Mostly from May to September, guides take tourists to attractions and temples. You will learn the history of the country, in museums you will see with your own eyes what the war did to the people of Vietnam, how it changed their way of life and culture.

Those who take risks and go to the shores of Vietnam in May will receive a bonus in sunny days get almost empty beaches, and a relaxing holiday. So you can take a chance, because prices for holidays in the country are the lowest at this time of year.

If you have long dreamed of discovering a beautiful country full of amazing things, turn your attention to Vietnam. In February you can spend time there with great pleasure. In this article on the Tour-Calendar we will tell you about what a holiday in the “land of smiles” promises in the last month of the calendar winter, and whether it is profitable to book tours specifically for this period.

Weather in Vietnam in February

February is one of the months of the dry season. Natural disasters in the form of hurricane winds, heavy rains, and tsunamis no longer disturb the country, and travel agents send their clients on vacation with a clear conscience. The geography of the latter's travel is very extensive, but mostly those who cannot imagine their vacation without the sea and all the benefits it offers stay in the south - it is much warmer there than in other regions. Such weather resonance in different parts of the country is explained by climate heterogeneity. Firstly, the meridional elongation of the state’s territory affects it, and secondly, the diversity of the topographic structure. Thus, when planning a trip to the north or, conversely, south, your travel wardrobe will be radically different. If we are talking about Hanoi, then, like everywhere else, the temperature here is moving away from annual minimums. In general, February in its own way temperature conditions- this is something between January and December. The evenings became a little warmer, and during the day the weather was almost the same. In the capital, weather forecasters promise +15..+21 °C. Rains are extremely rare - only 2-3 days, but the sky is covered with dense clouds almost all the time. There is practically no sun visible.

Hanoi Nha Trang Phu Quoc Phan Thiet Ho Chi Minh City Hue

Similar conditions prevail on the coast of northern Vietnam, in Ha Long Bay and on Cat Ba Island. The only thing is that there is a little more precipitation, but it is drizzling. It is impossible to swim here, so tourists come here solely for educational purposes. Excursions also include visits to the inland northern provinces remote from the sea. It is much colder here - during the day about +13..+15 °C, in addition, it rains constantly, as a result of which the country roads become dirty, and you simply cannot walk along them in sneakers. The best shoes for such places are rubber boots. In the mountainous region of Shapa, located in the Lao Cai province bordering China, temperatures drop to 10 °C, and frosts are possible at night. The altitude here is about 1.6 km, so it is not surprising that there is snow on the slopes this month. February is not the most favorable time to visit Shapa (there is a mountain resort here); in addition to snow, thick fogs often occur here; it is best to explore it in the spring, when the hills are covered with carpets of flowers. In the south, the weather picture is diametrically opposite. Precipitation there is kept to a minimum, and the monthly volume of what falls is 15-20 times less than during the monsoon period. The average daily air temperature is +30 °C, but in some resorts deviations from this value are possible.

The weather situation in Phu Quoc is as follows: at noon the air warms up to +30..+31 °C, the nights bring a little coolness - +21 °C, and, as before, the island remains one of the sunniest corners of Vietnam - up to 8 hours a day. In this regard, do not forget about your own safety: a good cream with a high protection factor will be a real salvation for you. The same advice is also relevant if you are based in Phan Thiet, where during the day it reaches +31 °C, and the sun began to shine a little longer - for 7 hours. In Nha Trang, the weather has finally stabilized, and rain practically does not bother the city. However, it is a little cooler here - on average +28..+29 °C. As for the central regions (Danang, Hue), their nature is gradually beginning to move away from precipitation, but temperature marks have not yet reached the required values - approximately +25 °C during the day and +19 °C at night.

What to do in Vietnam in February?

The February holidays in Vietnam are simply incomparable. And all thanks to the hospitable weather, devoid of unpleasant surprises. It allows you to fully enjoy the pleasures of the beach and engage in a variety of water sports. So your faithful “friends” for the entire period of your stay in the country will be sunscreen, swimwear, and maybe even fins and a mask. But that is not all. In February, active fans of educational recreation will also be happy, who will have the opportunity to discover new pages of Vietnam tourism: incredible complexes of ancient architecture, majestic nature, breathtaking ancient legends, rich traditions will amaze even the most experienced traveler. In addition, the country is famous for its unique hydrothermal deposits, and offers everyone amazing methods for relieving stress and improving their health.

Beach holiday

In February, the sandy coast attracts vacationers to the beaches. Phu Quoc Island is bathed in bright sunshine, so there are plenty of people here. The temperature of the surrounding waters in the Gulf of Thailand is +27 °C. Less sunny in Phan Thiet, Vung Tau and Nha Trang. Here the sea is a little cooler - about +25 °C.

The probability of waves is high. They are often attended by surfers. The resorts of the central part of the east coast will not please tourists with warmth. For example, in Da Nang the water warms up only to +24 °C. In the north, it’s generally cold to go into the sea: in Halong Bay, weather forecasters record +21 °C.

Entertainment and excursions

Despite the apparent comprehensiveness of the Vietnamese “excursion”, do not be misled. There are a lot of attractions in this country, and the most diverse ones, so trying to see everything at once is an unrealistic idea. Decide where you would like to go first of all - to the sea, to the capital or to the islands? And what are you more interested in - religion, nature, shopping, or maybe diving? And, based on the answers to these questions, it will be possible to build your route in such a way that at the very beginning of your stay you will be able to implement what has the greatest weight in the category of your own desires, and only after that, if there is time left, switch to something new, setting aside a couple of days for unplanned trips and entertainment. Well, we can only provide food for thought regarding one of the possible options for spending time. If you are one of the tourists who admire the underwater fauna and at the same time feel confident in the depths of the sea, then you should visit the island of Phu Quoc or Con Dao. But what about those who don't dive? We recommend going to Bong Nguyen Island, which can be reached by boat from Nha Trang. Its most important “treasure” is the open aquarium “Tri Nguyen Aquarium”, with several dozen rare sea creatures and valuable fish species. In general, Nha Trang is great for a family holiday. People come here to feel the life-giving power of the thermal waters of the Sui khoang Thap Ba health center, to be alone with their thoughts in secluded paradises (in the vicinity you will find the Ba Ho waterfalls and the magical Suoi Tien spring) ), explore thousand-year history country, represented by pagodas, temples and mansions, as well as for gastronomic delights in restaurants, the menu of which is replete with dishes from sea reptiles. No less interesting is the island of Nha Trang, such as Hon Che (the huge amusement park “Vinpearl Land”), which is connected to the city by the world’s longest cable car passing over the sea.

Continuing to travel around the south, many tourists rush to noisy Ho Chi Minh City - a huge metropolis that does not sleep day or night. It is only 300 years old, and unlike the capital, it is a new city. This cultural and commercial center of Vietnam has very heavy urban traffic, so you should be very careful on the roads. Here it is worth seeing the impressively decorated Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda and the Dinh Thong Nhat Reunification Palace. On a hot day, come for a walk in the Nam Ty Royal Garden; children will love it theme park"Suoi Tien" or at the "Dam Sen" attractions. From this city, lovers of the mountains are taken to the incredibly romantic place of Dalat, the resort pearl of Vietnam. Today it is fragrant with an incredible number of flowers. In February, peach trees bloom here, emitting a breathtaking aroma.

In general, the environment is similar to that of the Alpine resorts: golf courses surrounded by pine forests, crystal lakes, natural parks and gourmet restaurants, where even true gourmets will swallow their tongues from the abundance of delicious dishes. You may also be interested in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, in the north of the country. Those who are accustomed to the vastness of European avenues and are delighted with the dizzying skyscrapers, as well as those who are seduced by the tightness of intersections and ancient oriental architecture, feel comfortable here. Rent a scooter or bicycle and ride along its central streets. Its numerous lakes and pagodas, the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, as well as the army and ethnology museums deserve the closest attention here. For entertainment, we would recommend you to go to the puppet theater performance that takes place on Lake Hoan Kiem.

Holidays and festivals

Vietnamese holidays reflect loyalty to their traditions and beliefs. Many events are celebrated according to the lunar calendar, so each year their start and end dates are different. However, there are a number of celebrations that fall during the same time period. February 3 marks the celebration of the Founding Day of the Communist Party, considered the only ruling party of the state. On this occasion, processions, concerts and general celebrations are held in the capital. In some years, the Vietnamese New Year "Tet" falls at the beginning of the month. This is a very special atmosphere, the quintessence of the festive bustle, colorful parades, loud music and dancing. On the 6th day of the first lunar month, the 60-day religious festival of the Fragrant Pagoda opens in Hatay Province (70 km from Hanoi).

In Vung Tau, the fishing season begins in the last month of winter, and therefore the Thang Tam Pagoda holds ritual ceremonies and entertainment events. And the town of Chau Doc, bordering Cambodia, dedicates the “Ba Chua Xu” festival to this event.

What are the prices for holidays in Vietnam in February?

February tours to Vietnam are much more expensive than October ones. As a rule, in the last month of the calendar winter their cost increases by 25% -30%. If we compare with the second half of January, then here too we can see the dynamics of price growth. But, fortunately, not so significant - + 15% -20%.

Judging by many years of observations by meteorologists, favorable weather remains in Vietnam in February. Tourists have beaches, attractions and original entertainment at their disposal. Tour-Calendar wishes you a successful trip!

Until recently, many people associated Vietnam with total poverty and did not arouse much interest among tourists. But today everything has changed - the country is considered one of the most popular resorts peace. And all because there are warm tropics, an unforgettable Asian flavor and an affordable price policy for tour packages. What will a vacation in Vietnam be memorable for, when and where is the best time to go, how to get there, what entertainment the country can offer to a demanding tourist - we will talk about all this later in the article.

Socialist Republic of Vietnam

During its existence, Vietnam, whose history dates back to the first millennium BC, experienced many attacks on its territorial integrity and charter. He had to survive the times of the French colony, the Japanese occupation and a large number of wars. And the blind inheritance of the Soviet form of running the national economy led the country to a serious economic crisis. It took years to restore relations with developed countries on the world map, as well as to partially liberalize the economic system and rise from the ashes.

The name “Vietnam” comes from the ancient Viet people who lived on the territory of the modern republic, and from the word “nam”, which means “southern” in their language.

The territory of the modern state is spread over several climatic zones. That is why it is very important to find out before your trip where and at what time of year it is best to vacation in Vietnam.

Where is it on the map

The republic is located on the Indochina Peninsula, which is located in Southeast Asia. On the western side its neighbors are Cambodia and Laos, on the north the country borders on China people's republic, and from the south and east it is washed by the South China Sea.

The area of the state, the heart of which is the city of Hanoi, reaches about 332 thousand km. More than 93 million people live in the cities and villages of Vietnam. They use the official Vietnamese language and the national currency, which is the Vietnamese dong.

How to get there from Moscow

The direct distance between Moscow and Vietnam is 6735 km. And tourists prefer to overcome it exclusively by plane. In this case, the flight lasts about 9–10 hours.

Today, Vietnam is a leading exporter of black pepper and cashew nuts. The republic also ranks second in the export of coffee outside the country. It is characteristic that coffee plants are not indigenous to these areas and were introduced into the state's crop production by French colonists.

The easiest way to get from the capital of Russia to Vietnam is through the main air gate republics. These are the airports in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Due to the strong competition between airlines, tourists in this direction are provided with a large selection of flights at relatively low prices.

If you prefer resorts in the south of Vietnam, then it is best to fly directly to Nha Trang, Danang or Phu Quoc Island. But in this case, be prepared that the ticket price will be significantly more expensive. To save money, many travelers choose flights to the Vietnamese capital, and then take buses to their destination.

To purchase the cheapest tickets, it is better to use search engines, which provide comparable prices from different airlines and many booking systems (Skyscanner and Aviasales). Practitioners say that in 90% of cases it is possible to save from 300 to 1000 rubles. But remember that on the eve of holidays, as well as on weekends, the cost of flights is much higher than on weekdays.

Consider yourself lucky if you manage to find tickets for the Moscow - Ho Chi Minh City flight at a price of 27 thousand rubles. This is rare, but it is still possible to catch luck by the tail.

More than 40% of Vietnamese people have the popular surname Nguyễn in the country, another 11% have Trần. So you already know half the population of the republic.

Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other destinations

Vietnam, through the spectrum of tourism, seems to have many faces. It is only at first glance that it seems that, apart from rice fields and noodles traditional for national cuisine, there is nothing interesting there. In fact, the state has a place and activity to suit athletes, seafood lovers, connoisseurs of historical attractions, those who prefer exciting adventures and a quiet family holiday, couples with children and fans of the fascinating water world. But let's talk about all this in order.

For many travelers, Vietnam begins with the capital. Tourists are amazed by the beauty of the local lakes that surround the city, historical monuments of the metropolis and buildings that have been preserved since the imperial era.

There are many places near the heart of Vietnam that every traveler must visit. We are talking about one of the famous wonders of the world - Dragon Bay. It is located only 160 km from Hanoi and amazes with its cleanliness, pretty islands that protrude thickly from the emerald water.

Ha Long Bay is also worth seeing. This is an intensively developing resort with hotels, entertainment centers and various boutiques. Perfect place for shopping, entertainment and beach holidays.

In Vietnam, it is not customary to completely drink any drink from a cup. Up to 10% of the drink must remain at the bottom.

Kiters and surfers should visit the local bay. Here, for beginning extreme sports enthusiasts, there are special schools for quick training, especially since the prices for the services offered are relatively low. This exotic paradise will be no less interesting for a family with children. For them, along the entire coast stretch beautiful hotels, wide sandy beaches and plantings of luxurious palm trees and pine trees.

For those who prefer to enjoy masterpieces of seafood cuisine on vacation, Nha Trang is recommended. The city is located in the most beautiful bay, therefore it constantly attracts tourists with its beautiful scenery and mild climate. This resort will be remembered for its exotic colorful dishes, warm sea, amazing souvenirs, parks, attractions, diving, night parties and visits to the temple complex. The place is suitable for children and adults. Your child will long be delighted with the Vinpearl Land water adventure park on Hon Tre Island, the Chi Nguyen Aquarium (Neptune's Palace), and the oceanarium.

When going on such a long journey, do not forget to stock up on time with the necessary set of medicines and repellents. In Vietnam, tourists often suffer from dangerous insect bites, fumes from poisonous plants, jellyfish burns and the scorching sun, as well as food poisoning, allergies and dirty local water.

Fans of a relaxing holiday should go to Phu Quoc Island. There you will not find the noisy streets of big cities, vibrant entertainment centers, endless shops, restaurants and cafes. Only the sea, palm trees, sun-drenched beaches, fabulous sunrises and sunsets. And also pearl farms and huge black pepper plantations. Tour operators often recommend this kind of vacation to families with children and elderly travelers, as well as people who are tired of the daily hustle and bustle of the city. But this pleasure costs much more than the above resorts.

Similar experiences await you from a visit to Vung Tau. In this place you can also connect with nature and improve your health. At the resort, it is worth visiting the statue of Jesus Christ. And if you climb up its spiral staircase, you will be able to appreciate the panorama of the entire Vietnamese town.

For those who dream of an educational journey and want to immerse themselves in the centuries-old history of Asian peoples, the resort town of Hoi An is a great choice. There you will be impressed by the Marble Mountains, the Hai Van Pass, museums of architecture and sculpture, and the Cham complex of Michon. You can learn ancient traditions even just by walking along the local streets. They often contain antique shops and ancient temples.

The Danang resort is the perfect place to get acquainted with local traditions. But its only “disadvantages” are the high pricing policy in relation to tourists and some remoteness of the resort area from the center. These inconveniences are associated with the industrial and economic direction of the city.

In crowded places in Vietnamese resort towns and especially in the capital, tourists should be on alert. Very often, local entrepreneurs, spoiled by the constant flow of wealthy travelers, deceive and shortchange their customers. There are also very often cases when the price of a product is significantly inflated. Therefore, before purchasing anything in Vietnam, study the market and never leave your belongings unattended.

Weather in Vietnam: when is the best time to travel?

If you are choosing where to go on vacation in Vietnam, take the time to find out in which equatorial zone the resort you like is located. This is due to the large extent of the republic from north to south. Moreover, on climatic conditions areas are significantly influenced by monsoons.

In water

All year round, tourists have the opportunity to enjoy the clear waters of the warm South China Sea, located in the tropical climate zone. Its emerald waves amaze with their transparency - the seabed is perfectly visible even through a 10-meter thickness of water. Plus she's always warm. The sea temperature never drops below 23 °C. And in August it warms up to 30 degrees.

On the land

In the northern regions of the state, sunny weather does not last long. In the summer season, the air warms up to 28–30 °C. And in winter, in lowland areas, the temperature drops to a stable 20 °C. But in mountainous areas the thermometer can only record 5 °C. These resorts are suitable for recreation only in the summer, since it rains here from the beginning of September until the very end of May. Continuous downpours will accompany you throughout February and March.

In Vietnam there are no regular buses and cars that are familiar to us. The local population gets around on motorcycles. In this country, every family has at least 2 bikes. And every day over 10 million of such vehicles appear on the roads of the republic. In addition, it is not customary to allow pedestrians to pass at crossings here. Therefore, crossing busy highways constantly turns into an exciting and risky adventure.

It is best to go to the central zones of Vietnam in spring and summer, since the rest of the year there are heavy rains. The climate of these areas is characterized by warmth and high humidity. Average temperatures range from 35–40 °C in summer and 15–20 °C in winter.

The southern resorts of Vietnam are characterized by year-round heat. The temperature here almost never drops below 25 °C. It also rains here, but it often falls only at night and does not last as long as in the north of the country. In addition, in the south the air is never dry due to the constant evaporation of moisture.

Tour operators from Vietnamese resorts often recommend to tourists:

  • from April to August - Hoi An;
  • from January to March, as well as in December and November - Phu Quoc Island;
  • from February to September - Nha Trang;
  • throughout the winter - Phan Thiet.

Vietnamese aborigines firmly believe in the mysterious power of snake wine, which is national drink countries. It is prepared by preserving poisonous reptiles in rice wine and grain alcohol. Moreover, local healers believe that what more dangerous than a snake, the healthier the drink will be.

  1. Con Dao. It is located on the island of the same name and is characterized by snow-white sand, crystal clear sea, dense thickets of coke palms, and mangrove forests. This is where you can easily find a unique plant or come face to face with an exotic animal.

  3. Lang Co. The beach is located in the resort of Hue, where travelers are pleased with a variety of entertainment centers and restaurants serving national cuisine.
  4. Ha Long. When the fantastic landscapes of this beach open up to your eyes for the first time, you are fleetingly reminded of pictures stuffed with modern special effects and computer graphics. From a charming fairy tale, tourists are brought back to reality by dirty sea water and a rather unpleasant nearby town.
  5. Phu Quoc. It is located 15 km from Cambodia and is the subject of quarrels between these 2 states. All coasts of the island are covered with sandy beaches with slightly pinkish fine sand and turquoise clear water. True, there are no good roads on the island. But there is an airport.
  6. Nha Trang. This is a pearl among all the beaches in Vietnam. It is characterized by a snow-white sandy surface that stretches along the coast for 7 km. There is a man in the country who has not slept for more than 40 years. This is 75-year-old Thai Ngoc. In the full bloom of his strength, he suffered from a severe fever and after that lost the desire to sleep. As a result of his ordeal, the Vietnamese experiences discomfort. He admitted to one of the local newspapers that he “feels like a plant without water.”

Sights and excursions

You can endlessly discover something new in Vietnam. Moreover, the country is in an endless revival after the wars it experienced. The local population is especially sensitive to ancient historical monuments. Although, let’s not hide, we can see some of them today only thanks to the intervention of UNESCO, which insisted on the reconstruction of destroyed buildings. So, if you follow the map of famous resorts in Vietnam from north to south, you can find many places that are really worth going to.

In the capital of the republic you can visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi Citadel, St. Joseph's Cathedral, museum military history and the Thanglong water puppet theater. There is also the largest zoo in the republic, Thu Le. Its peculiarity is not only in meeting exotic wild animals, but also in the opportunity to ride a boat, walk with children and get a dose of adrenaline from local attractions. Also near Hanoi is the Bai Tu Long archipelago, famous for its 3 thousand miniature islands.

The city of Hue is home to many aerial pagodas and ancient palaces from the Nguyen Dynasty. The ruins of the Kinh Thanh citadel deserve special attention. It is here that you can see with your own eyes the Nine Holy Weapons complex, the forbidden purple city of Dai Non and the royal theater. You can also look at the imperial tombs, each of which is a small town.

Despite the temperature of 20°C outside, the Vietnamese consider this weather cold and, as a rule, wrap themselves in warm jackets and hats. They also customarily wear two-toed socks, which allow you to wear the famous flip-flops even in winter.

In the museum town of Hoi An, located just south of the resort of Hue, you will be interested in everything. It was through this settlement that the Great River ran at one time. Silk Road. The temples, which are like mushrooms after the rain in this city, will amaze you with their beauty. Among them are the legendary buildings of Fioklam, Cao Dai, Quan Kong.

In Nha Trang, it is worth taking a look at the Cham Towers, of which only 4 have survived to this day. Also of interest are the Buddha statue, Long Son Pagoda and the Museum of Marine Fauna, which contains up to 8 thousand exhibits. Children should be shown the Chinguyen Aquarium, which is a lake divided into 3 parts, each of which is home to decorative, edible and predatory fish.

For extreme sports enthusiasts, the Dalat mountain resort is located 60 km from the port of Cam Ranh. For great impressions, you should look into the “madhouse” of the Han Nga Hotel, as well as visit the Thung Lung Tinh Yeu Valley, Madame Dang Gallery and Vion Hoa Da Lat Flower Gardens.

Dalat, which is famous as the “Paris of Vietnam,” even has a replica of the Eiffel Tower.

The cheapest diving and other outdoor activities

For obsessive divers, this corner of the planet is considered sacred. And all because it was in Nha Trang Bay that corals began to form for the first time on the planet. Today there are about 400 species here, which is a record number. Few people know that there is a real coral reserve near Moon Island.

The most interesting places to dive are:

  • the area around Madonna Rock and its underwater tunnels;
  • Coral Garden reef, where hard corals grow;
  • area near Mushroom Reef, where flying fish and reef sharks are quite common, as well as colorful clown fish, moray eels, squid, huge turtles, seahorses and barracudas.

There is no need to go too deep here. The beauty of the sea can be seen already 5 m from the surface of the sea.

For beginners, diving clubs will offer paid training, after which a special certificate is issued. Experienced tourists who are keen on the underwater world advise, when choosing centers, to give preference exclusively to foreign establishments rather than Vietnamese ones.

For some reason, all Vietnamese swim in their clothes. They do not swim, but go into the water to a sufficient depth and splash in the warm waves. Inexplicably, they also snorkel clothed.

Among other types of active recreation in this exotic country, you may be offered to dive without scuba gear. This type of entertainment is called freediving. Depending on the level, its cost is between $150–250. The most suitable area for such dives is Whale Island, located 80 km from Nha Trang. It is famous for its turtle farm, so it will be of interest to both beginners and experienced divers.

During the day, everyday Vietnam resembles a large anthill, in which every resident is immersed in his own worries. And at night it does not fall silent, but on the contrary, with renewed vigor it is reborn into something new and mysterious. Vietnamese cities at night are famous for their grand parties and sexual adventures. As people see off the sun at sunset, they begin to celebrate. And there is no need for any reason for this. This tradition arose here during the Vietnam-American War, when, after difficult days, soldiers of the United States Army relieved their souls with noisy parties. Young Vietnamese were often invited to them. The indigenous people liked the idea so much that it became firmly rooted in their lives.

Don't lose your head from the night in Vietnam. Be vigilant even under the influence of strong drinks. Do not make dubious acquaintances or invite strangers to your hotel room. Indeed, often, when morning comes and the veil of holiday euphoria leaves their eyes, travelers do not find near them either the mysterious “moth,” or money, or documents.

If you want to taste all the delights of the nightly liberation of the Vietnamese, then feel free to go to the capital of the republic, Hanoi, and to the northern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, called Saigon in local circles. It is in these two centers that the country's nightlife is concentrated. Even despite the bans of local authorities, bars, restaurants, gay clubs and other similar establishments, simulating their closing at midnight, continue to let customers in from the back door until the morning. Of course, not all nightclubs do this, which should be taken into account when making plans for the night. Be prepared that you may not only be invited to dance, but also offered delicate services.

The famous Saigon club “Apocalypse Now” is considered a leader in the Vietnamese sex industry. It has existed for several decades and does not lose its status as the main intimate attraction of the republic. There are so many pretty priestesses of love in this establishment that it will be oh so difficult to choose. You can recognize the establishment from afar by its bright signs and barkers who hang around the doors with the simple slogan “lady, boombum”. Along with brothels, street prostitution also flourishes in the country. Often on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi you can see pimps riding around on motorcycles with a frightening, menacing look.

Guests of the capital and resort Nha Trang will also be provided with an erotic massage. Such salons and local bars are full of people on any day and at any time of the year. Moreover, among them are mainly foreign tourists. But the Vietnamese themselves also do not refuse to have fun.

Other Vietnamese cities, especially resort ones, also have their own nightlife, but, as a rule, it lasts only until midnight.

When looking for hot entertainment in Vietnam, do not forget about contraception. At first glance, this seems like a silly reminder for students. But practice shows that in the heat of passion and drunk alcohol, tourists forget about basic condoms, as a result of which they return from vacation with a bunch of sexually transmitted diseases.

There are many places where you can relax to your heart’s content in Vietnam at night. For example, several capital clubs:

  • “Funky Monkey” (address: 31 Hang Thung) - known for a variety of cocktails, billiard games, exotic dancing and music preferences in the style of house, trance or techno;
  • “R & R Tavern” (address: 10 Tho Nhuom St) - famous for its excellent beer, rock music and unforgettable views directly from the terrace;
  • “Solace” (address: Chuong Duong Do) is a youth establishment that gives preference to non-stop music, fiery dances and lighting effects;
  • “The Spotted Cow” (address: 23C Hai Ba Trung) - lovers of football, billiards, darts and beauties make their way here.

Features of accommodation

Vietnam is unique country not only regarding the tropical exotic fauna and flora. There are also unusual conditions for us to move through the streets, live here, and have a very specific cuisine. Let's look at everything in order.

During a night out in Saigon, watch your wallet, purse or bag. After all, bikers are rushing around the metropolis, not missing the opportunity for easy material extraction. It is best to leave all valuables in the hotel safe.

Transport

There are all types of modern transport in this country - from scooters to airplanes and international taxis. But local residents seem to have taken a liking to motorcycles for a long time. They move in a chaotic manner through the streets of big cities and small villages.

In any case, problems with transport in Vietnam will never arise. Of course, inconveniences on the road and frequent transfers are quite likely, but you can get to the right place.

The republic's air transport is mostly represented by the large carrier Vietnam Airlines and small companies Vietnam Airlines, VASCO, AirMekong, and VietJet. They fly exclusively to large cities and resorts in the country. In some popular tourist destinations you can find special taxis that will take you to the airport.

The railway sector in Vietnam is characterized by weak development. It’s difficult to even call it a network, since trains run from north to south, with stops in Saigon, Hanoi, Sapu, Haiphong and Ha Long. This type of transport comes in two categories:

  • SE - they make stops only in megacities and are therefore considered fast and very comfortable;
  • TN - regular trains.

The fastest train in Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi takes 29 hours.

For convenient and fast travel around the country, travelers choose buses. The category intended for international transport is equipped with sleeping places, and you must enter such transport barefoot with shoes wrapped in a bag. There is also Open Bus system transport.

If you decide to see the local islands, then you can’t do without a public boat. For example, it is convenient to quickly travel along the Mekong River Delta from Ho Chi Minh City to Kanto by water transport, which departs from Saigon Ton Duc Thang Avenue pier at 8:00 and arrives at its destination 5 hours later. The cost of such a trip is $1.

There are also taxis for tourists in Vietnam. But experienced travelers are not very willing to use it, since almost always all attempts to use this service end in disputes. Taxi drivers want to charge foreigners as much as possible, and to do this they twist the meters and come up with many ways to get theirs.

The Vietnamese Socialist Republic ranks second in rice consumption. Each average resident of the country eats about 169 kg of this product per year.

But don’t expect to see the usual taxi cars on the streets of this state. Mostly motorcycle taxi services are offered. This method of transportation is considered the cheapest and riskiest. A one-hour trip costs $2, and a 12-hour trip costs $10. If you have to travel outside the city, the cost of the trip will increase to $15.

Nutrition

Vietnamese cuisine has absorbed the traditions of Indian, Chinese, French, American and at the same time has not lost its uniqueness, retaining the zest of its originality. But at the same time, it is not suitable for all tourists. After all, not everyone can eat dog, snake, turtle or rat meat, and seafood often causes an allergic reaction in European tourists.

The Vietnamese very rarely eat beef, and you almost never see duck or goat dishes here. But chicken and shrimp are frequent guests on the table.

A characteristic feature of the cuisine of this people is a rich variety of sauces, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables. Local chefs always decorate any dish with coriander, basil, mint leaves and serve it with some kind of dipping sauce.

Most dishes are based on rice, which is simply adored here. Its green sprouts are even used to decorate tables in cafes and restaurants instead of flowers. And don’t expect to find a lot on the menu different dishes for every taste. It won't be there. You will be offered only traditional rice and noodles with different sauces.

Before tasting the masterpieces of Vietnamese chefs, make sure that the dish does not contain any products that can trigger your allergies.

Housing

In Vietnam, you can independently rent housing to suit every taste. True, this issue needs to be addressed in advance (several months before departure). Depending on your financial capabilities, you may consider:

  1. Guest houses and guest houses, which are a small room with a minimal set of furniture, a bathroom and Wi-Fi. This option is intended for undemanding travelers. If the housing is rented daily, the payment also includes electricity costs. If you plan to live there for a month or more, then you will have to pay for electricity using the meter. Typically, this amount ranges from $10 to $70.
  2. Rooms in small hotels. Here you will receive the same conditions as in the guest rooms, only with best service and service.
  3. Homestays. These are family-type houses with or without owners. They are offered in the north of the country. As a rule, the price includes cleaning and linen change.
  4. Apartments and studios. This option is for wealthy tourists who plan to stay in Vietnam for at least a month. The range includes large houses with several bedrooms, balconies, large windows and modern household appliances. You can also be offered reception services, which will solve all your everyday issues, and security.
  5. At home. They provide a large yard and parking space, so they are preferable for family travelers with children and a car.
  6. Villas. This is premium real estate. It is located in a closed area that is guarded.

Against the backdrop of this luxury that is offered to tourists, the Vietnamese themselves live in very narrow houses, similar to school pencil cases, without windows and with a minimum of furniture.

Shopping in Vietnam

For avid shoppers, Vietnam is a true paradise. After all, the country is gradually beginning to gain the status of the second “clothing workshop of the world” after China. Here you can buy absolutely everything: from watches, clothes, shoes to furniture and pearls. Moreover, Western tourists remain satisfied with both the price and quality of goods.

If you are in Vietnam, be sure to pay attention to local silks, jewelry, precious stones, tea, coffee, ceramics, wooden souvenirs and balms made from poisonous snakes.

Don't be shy about bargaining - this is what local shops expect from you. Therefore, the prices for the goods are very inflated. The country values bargaining, which is built on mutual respect for the interests of the buyer and seller.

For example, in Ho Chi Minh City, for a successful bargain, you should go to the Ben Thanh market or the Diamond shopping and entertainment complex. The Tax Trade Center department store is also perfect for these purposes.

Fortunately for shopaholics, this country has plenty of places where you can spend all your money and be satisfied with your purchases.

We hope that our tips will be useful to you and will help you plan an unforgettable vacation in Vietnam, the souvenirs you purchased and bright, life-affirming photos will remind you of for a long time.

This is a jumble of hotels, souvenir shops, bokeh (seafood cafes), travel agencies and pharmacies. Most hotels are located on the first line. The best beaches are occupied by expensive hotels, while the worse beaches are occupied by budget hotels. We didn't like the beaches of Mui Ne - they were mostly dirty. There are shallow waters and waves everywhere, so you can’t swim. But there are interesting sights in the area: red and white dunes, Fairy Creek.

When to go. There are no strong climatic swings here, as in the northern resorts of Vietnam. However, it is best to rest during the dry period - from November to April. Strong winds blow most of the time, so kiters and surfers love this place. They prefer to vacation from January to March, when the sea waves are high. From April to the end of autumn the sea becomes a little calmer.

Danang

This resort in Vietnam is almost unknown among Russians (everyone goes to Nha Trang, Mui Ne and Phu Quoc), the Vietnamese vacation here. The city is large and modern, with spacious streets and not too dense traffic, so it is convenient to learn to ride a bike.

The best beaches in Da Nang with white sand and a gentle entrance to the sea are Bac My An and My Khe. Admission is free, the infrastructure is quite developed. The shoreline is wide and long, you can collect a lot of beautiful shells.

A small minus is the distance of the center from the tourist area. There are no large supermarkets on the coast. There are no city buses; you need to go to the center by bike or taxi.

When to go. The high season is short - it’s better to relax from April to June, when it is already quite warm and the waves on the sea are low. It rains from summer until the end of the year, and the winds are fierce in winter. We vacationed in Da Nang in winter: the city and the beach were deserted, but it had its own charm. A strong wind blew, large waves rose in the sea, a red flag was displayed on the beaches, and sometimes it drizzled. During the low season, almost all cafes in the tourist zone are closed, and sometimes it’s not easy to find inexpensive food: the Vietnamese, seeing lonely tourists, raise prices.

If you are looking for the best place to relax in Vietnam with children, then pay attention to Hoi An - the entrance to the sea is gentle there. Most best beach- An Bang (the other, Cua Dai, was destroyed by sea erosion and is being restored). Beaches with fine light sand and in some places developed infrastructure. Parking is paid.

Hoi An has beautiful ancient architecture. It is convenient to visit the Marble Mountains from the city - for example, we went there by bicycle (rental costs only $1 per day).

Of the minuses - Hoi An is located on the river, and you need to drive several kilometers to the nearest beach. Tourists prefer to live near the Old Town, although they can also live by the sea.

When to go. Best time - from February to May. In autumn, hurricanes rage and floods occur.

Ha Long

Beach holidays in Vietnam are also possible in the bay of the same name in Ha Long. The beaches on the islands are mostly made of imported sand, and the water is often muddy, but most tourists come here to admire the wonderful islands.

In the city of Halong itself there is not much to do, except stroll along the beautiful embankment with gorgeous views of the bay, watch the inhabitants of the floating villages, admire the sunsets and climb the Bai Tu Mountain of the Poets, from where a panorama of the city and the bay opens.

When to go. The best time for excursions is from December to the end of May when dry and warm, for a beach holiday - in April, May, September and October. The rainy season is from June to September. We lived in Halong in January, and although the sun was often warm, the cold wind did not allow the thought of a beach holiday.

Catba

A picturesque green island located in the bay of Ha Long Bay, the largest in the archipelago. The beaches are most often nondescript with yellowish-brown sand, but clean, without trash or algae. The main attractions for tourists at the resort are island cruises and excursions to the local national park.

When to go. Cat Ba is stormy in summer, so it's better to relax in autumn.

This is a small seaside town with a densely built-up coastal strip and oil production enterprises. The city has beaches - narrow, with muddy and foamy water due to the close proximity to the Mekong and strong winds.

The infrastructure is developed: there are restaurants, hotels, entertainment, shops. However, even locals prefer Long Hai or Mui Ne, where the beaches are better. If you just need a good beach holiday, it’s better to go to the popular resorts of Vietnam: Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Da Nang.

When to go. From November to April. In winter there are high waves, which are popular with kiters. The rainy season is from May to October.

The island is good for secluded recreation and ecotourism, it is called the best resort in Vietnam for diving. There are unique species of plants and animals here, such as sea cows and green turtles.

The tourist infrastructure is poorly developed, there are no large shopping centers and few hotels. The island itself is rocky, most of the coastline is steep. In the eastern part of the island there are several sandy beaches, all sparsely populated and semi-wild.

When to go. Ideal time for a beach holiday in Con Dao from December to April, for diving - from February to July.
