One to one: gold was discovered nearby. Its mining brought wealth, discovered a unique healing method, which is discussed below, and initiated the construction of buildings that are now pearls of local architecture - the Maria zum Guten Rat church, the building of the Böckstein mining administration (now housing the Mining Museum); the further growth of the resort's popularity among the powers that be led to the construction of the famous swimming castle near Soledo. At the very beginning of the 19th century, they began to build a funicular railway.

The name of the city is established in the form Bad Gastein, although in Cyrillic it is sometimes transliterated as Bad Gastein. This is the same thing and is connected with the peculiarities of reading the German S before t.

Radon was discovered in adits where gold was once mined. Its healing effect on the body is truly unique. However, the treatment has a number of contraindications (pregnancy, unreduced blood pressure, serious cardiac dysfunction, oncology, etc.; naturally, people suffering from claustrophobia are prohibited from visiting the adits), therefore, before undergoing treatment, a doctor’s examination is required.

The treatment goes like this. Patients are sent inside the mountain on a special train. The air there is very humid (up to 95%), hot (up to 41 degrees) and saturated with radon vapor. This happens naturally: thanks to the vapors of hot radon springs. Through the pores of the skin and through the lungs, radon enters the blood and then into the cells, exerting a powerful restorative effect. The procedure lasts about 75 minutes; A course of 2-3 weeks, 3-4 procedures per week, is usually required.
