Valencia train. High speed train from Madrid to Valencia: description of the AVE train in Spain. From Valencia to Madrid by car

Valencia is an attractive city in all respects: mountain landscapes, gentle sea, huge sandy beaches, exquisite architecture, competing in majesty with futuristic buildings, and all this under the scorching sun, giving its warmth to the residents and guests of this paradise 300 days a year. Having lived in Valencia for almost five years and visited many cities in Europe, I can confidently say that there are a great many reasons to visit this city and everyone will find something to their liking here.

Having been in Valencia almost 365 days a year and having experienced all possible combinations of temperatures, I came to the conclusion that this city is beautiful at any time of the year and the choice of travel dates depends on the personal preferences and plans of each traveler. If the purpose of your trip is beach holiday, That summer season in Valencia it opens from the beginning of May and lasts until the end of September and the temperature during these months almost never drops below 30 degrees. But if you are more attracted to history and architecture, then I would advise you to come in the fall or spring, when the thermometer is not yet off the charts and you can comfortably see all the sights without crowds of tourists and enjoy walking or cycling around the city in wonderful weather, and, to Plus, you can save a lot on tickets! In any case, a traveler who decides to visit Valencia will be faced with a number of questions related to how to more conveniently get to his destination without harming his wallet and nervous system, and how to plan further movements around Spain.

Direct flights to Valencia

In the case of Valencia, you shouldn’t complicate your life and try to look for a profitable flight with transfers, since, according to my experience, the most economical option is also the most convenient - a direct flight from Moscow. The flight will take 4.5 hours and two airlines fly this route - Aeroflot and S7. You can compare prices for air tickets. It is worth noting that for people living in other cities of Russia (, etc.), Aeroflot offers very favorable fares for flights to Valencia with a transfer to Sheremetyevo, which cost a little higher than a direct flight from Moscow (20,000 - 26,000 rubles per both sides). As for the flight from St. Petersburg, you can choose a profitable flight with a transfer, which will cost 18,000-20,000 rubles round trip. Here it is worth noting the Lufthansa airline, which offers to take you to sunny Valencia in 10 hours with a transfer of 4 hours 50 minutes in Frankfurt am Main.

To Valencia by Aeroflot

On June 1, 2016, Aeroflot launched daily flights to Valencia from Sheremetyevo Airport. In addition to regularity, the big advantage of this route is its convenient schedule (departure from Moscow to Valencia at 9 am and from Valencia to Moscow at 13.50 pm), which will allow you to freely get to the city or airport. Ticket prices vary greatly depending on the season - from October to April round trip tickets will cost about 20,000 rubles, but in the summer season the price will not drop below 45,000 for both flights, so I would recommend this flight to those who decide to visit Valencia in cold weather year, or planned a trip with a reserve of 3-4 months and managed to buy a ticket for the summer by winter prices(if, for example, you buy a ticket in winter for May-June, then the price will not bite).

To Valencia with S7

Another airline that flies directly to Valencia from Moscow (Domodedovo Airport) is S7, but, unlike Aeroflot, these flights are seasonal (from May 27 to September 23) and operate twice a week - on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Over the course of five years of living in Valencia and summer flights home, I have always used the services of this particular airline, because in addition to excellent service and planes painted in my favorite green color, a big plus in favor of S7 is the price. Personally, I always buy tickets in advance. If you do this at least a month in advance, then a round-trip flight will cost 16,000-20,000 rubles, but even if you buy closer to the departure date, there is a chance to purchase a ticket for this amount, which, unfortunately, Aeroflot does not have. The only month in which the price rises quite noticeably is August, but, again, if you buy in advance, this problem should not arise. With S7, I would advise you to always use the flexible search function, since very often prices, for example, on Wednesday, are very different from prices on Saturday of the same week, and can also change almost every day (especially when there are only one or two seats left on the plane) , so if you are more careful, you can buy a ticket for a very advantageous offer. As for the schedule, the plane from Valencia to Moscow takes off at 23.55 and lands in Domodedovo at 05.35 in the morning (from my own experience I will say that the flight takes less than the time stated on the ticket and usually, if there is no delay, at 5.10 in the morning you are already on the ground) , and the Moscow-Valencia flight operates from 19.15 to 23.05. For those who decide to get from Valencia airport to the city by metro, I would advise you to hurry up a little when collecting your luggage and realizing that you are in Spain, since the last train is before midnight (more about the metro schedule below), so there is a chance to miss In this case, you will have to overpay for a taxi.

How to get from the airport to Valencia

There is only one airport in Valencia and it is located 8 km from the city in the pueblo (village in Spanish) Manises. Although the airport is relatively small, with only 2 terminals, I can say that it is quite convenient and well planned. The employees speak English (which is not so typical for Spain) and sometimes even at the reception desks Russian airlines There is Russian-speaking staff. Also, getting from the airport to the city will not be any problem and will not put too much of a strain on your wallet. You can choose one of three types public transport: metro, bus or taxi, depending on your time and Money, personally I prefer the metro.

Metro

The metro station is located at ground floor regional terminal (Terminal Regional) and trains of two branches depart from it: red at number 3 (Rafelbunyol - Aeroport) and green at number 5 (Marítim Serrería - Aeroport).

Both lines will take you to the city center in just 25 minutes! The ticket is purchased from the red machine at the entrance, where you can choose English language(select Idioma in the menu and then Inglés) and pay in cash or by card. Please note that travel to the airport is considered zone D and costs 3.90EUR one way + 1 EUR per card. If you chose the “single ticket” option, the device itself will give you the option of purchasing a ticket to the airport, which you need to select. Here I must warn you about very important point: Do not throw away the red card that the machine gives you! Firstly, in the Valencia metro, exit is also carried out using a card (that is, you need to swipe it both at the entrance and at the exit), and, secondly, this is an updated travel card: when you buy new trips on the metro, you need to insert it into the device and select the Recargar function (if you suddenly don’t find it in English) and then select the desired tariff. I also want to draw your attention to the fact that the airport pass miraculously resets after 24 hours, so you shouldn’t buy a return ticket in advance and it’s better to top up your card before leaving. Regarding the schedule, weekdays The first train from the airport leaves at 07.08 in the morning, and the last at 23.28, and on weekends you can leave in the morning at 05.47, and at night at 23.47. The interval between trains is 10-15 minutes. I must say that several times I found myself in very uncomfortable situations when the train left in front of my nose and I had to wait 20 minutes for the next one, so I want to draw your attention to the fact that the Valencia metro runs on schedule, so it’s worth planning your trip in advance and checking out the schedule on the Metrovalencia website . Otherwise, the Valencia metro is a fairly convenient and pleasant way to travel; all stations have plans, convenient boards, and everywhere there are signs with the direction of exit (salida) and the transition to another line.

The price in the city (zone A) is 1.5 EUR, but if you buy 10 trips at once (called Bonometro), you can save a lot, since such a pass will cost you 7.20 EUR (plus 1 euro for a cardboard card, which you will pay for the first purchase) .

Bus

There is also a yellow bus number 150 from the airport to the city center. The stop is located at the exit from the arrivals area of terminal T1 on the ground floor under the bridge that combines the terminal with the parking lot. Travel time depends on traffic, but generally it is 30-40 minutes to the center of Valencia (plaza de España). This type transport will cost only 1.45 EUR per person, but you need to pay attention to the bus schedule: from Monday to Saturday from 5.25 am to 22.05 at night every 25-30 minutes. On Sunday and holidays Unfortunately, you will have to choose a different method of transportation, since this bus will not run. Personally, I would still advise using the metro or taxi, since this bus is not equipped with space for large suitcases and goes with a large number of stops, but if every euro counts, then you can consider this option.

Taxi

The most comfortable way to travel is, without a doubt, a taxi. All taxis in Valencia are painted white, accept cards for payment and operate at the same rates. Finding a taxi at Valencia Airport is very easy - several cars are always standing at the exit from the arrivals area of the first terminal. Travel from Valencia Airport to the city center will take only 15 minutes, is carried out at a special rate and will cost 18-23 during the daytime on a weekday and 20-25 EUR on weekends or at night. If we talk about moving around the city, from 7 am to 9 pm on weekdays the starting price for boarding is 1.45 EUR and each subsequent kilometer is paid according to the meter and amounts to 1.08 EUR per km (but you must keep in mind that, regardless of the distance, the minimum travel limit in a taxi on a weekday it will be 4 EUR). And on weekends and holidays or at night, travel will cost a little more - 2 EUR at the start and 1.18 for each kilometer (the minimum already rises to 6 EUR). You can call a taxi in Valencia by phone, but personally I always use the MyTaxi app, although it is usually not a problem to catch a car right on the street or walk to one of the parking lots.

Flights to other cities in Spain

There are cases in which it is more profitable and convenient to get to Valencia by flying to another spanish city, for example, if you fly directly from St. Petersburg or when all direct flights to Valencia are either sold out or sold at high price. In such situations, I would advise you to consider the three most convenient directions to easily get to Valencia: , and (information about flights, prices and useful information can be found in articles dedicated to these cities by following the links). From my experience, I can note that airfare to Madrid is almost always significantly higher than to Barcelona and Alicante, so I would recommend these two destinations. Well, besides, you should not forget about buying tickets from these cities to Valencia itself, so that the desire to save does not turn into big expenses.

So, if you decide to choose another city as your landing point in Spain, or are eager to travel around the country a little, then the question will arise of how to get from these cities to Valencia itself. Since there are not many planes between Spanish cities and their prices are steep, I can vouch that the most comfortable view transport for these purposes is ground. Here you can choose from two options to suit your taste and budget: bus and train. You can always buy tickets and check the schedule and prices on the official websites (which will be a little cheaper) of the Spanish railway (Renfe) and bus companies, as well as at the station itself.

How to get from Barcelona to Valencia

Like Valencia, the capital of Catalonia is located on the coast Mediterranean Sea, and the distance separating these two cities is 350 km. In 2015, I lived in Barcelona for 5 months as part of a student exchange program and this route is the most traveled for me in all of Spain.

Since many tourists choose nearby resorts as their holiday destination, I would like to say a few words about how to get to Valencia from there. In the case of the Costa Brava ( north coast Catalonia) the most The best way- first get to Barcelona itself, which will not be difficult, since regular buses run from all resort towns to the city of Gaudi. And if we talk about the south of Catalonia (Costa Dorada), then, for example, from station in you can take a direct train coming from Barcelona, which will take you to Valencia in just over two hours. In the case of other resorts, I would choose the option to get to another one large city Catalonia - Tarragona - and from there take a bus or train to Valencia.

Returning to Barcelona, trains to Valencia depart from Barcelona Sants train station (metro lines 3 and 5) and travel times vary from three to just under four hours depending on the train chosen and the number of stops. In the morning you can go to Valencia from 7 o'clock, and the last train leaves at 20.30. There are two types of trains running directly on this route - Euromed and Talgo (trains on this line operate longer routes, so Valencia will not be the final destination of his trip). But there are also several more lines that take a roundabout route with a large number of stops, so their travel time increases to 5 hours. Provided that the difference in price is imperceptible, I would not recommend this option. As for the price, if you make a purchase in advance, a one-way ticket will cost only 13-18 EUR, but if you can’t buy it with time to spare, then get ready to pay 27-45 EUR for one one-way ticket.

Personally, I almost always prefer the bus, since it is a more economical option and the extra hour on the road does not scare me at all. Traveling on the Barcelona-Valencia route bus company ALSA, on whose official website you can find prices and schedules. From Barcelona, buses depart from Barcelona Nord station (metro Arc de Triomf, line 1) or Barcelona Sants train station and arrive at the Valencia bus station, which I will discuss below. Also, if you arrive at Barcelona airport and want to go straight to Valencia, many buses make a stop at the airport, but in this case, when purchasing a ticket, you must enter Aeropuerto Barcelona-Prat T1. Travel time is approximately 4 hours, depending on the route. Buses from Barcelona to Valencia run from 7 am to 1 am, and as for prices, if you buy with at least a month’s reserve, you can buy a ticket at a special rate, starting from 6 EUR per person, but if you buy closer to the departure date , then the price will rise to 20-30 EUR one way.

The choice to travel by train or bus depends on each person's personal preferences. Of course, the train is a faster and more comfortable form of transport, but by choosing a bus you can significantly benefit in price, and also, if you go directly from the airport, you do not waste time, money and nerves on the road to the station.

How to get from Alicante to Valencia

The city of Alicante is located 180 km from Valencia and is part of the Comunidad Valenciana (Valencian Community). Personally, I have always been fascinated by the picturesque route between these cities, which can be done by ALSA bus in just two and a half hours. From Alicante, buses leave from the bus station near the port and arrive in Valencia at the Turia metro station. There are about 20 flights per day on this route from early morning until late at night, but in my experience it is always worth paying attention to the travel time (it should not exceed 3 hours), especially when buying through the ticket office at the station, where you may not be informed about this, since there are several buses that call at all nearby cities (Benidorm, Altea,), due to which the time spent on the road will increase by one to two hours. Ticket prices are quite affordable - from 6 EUR (for certain flights) if purchased in advance, to 25 EUR if purchased on the day of departure.

You can also use an even faster way to travel - by train. The travel time will take a little more than an hour and a half (minimum 1h32min – maximum 1h54min), and the ticket will cost between 12 and 20 EUR, depending on the date of purchase and the chosen flight. From Alicante, all trains depart from the only train station, and in Valencia they arrive either at Joaquín Sorolla Station (Euromed trains) or at Estación Nord (Talgo and MD trains).

How to get from Madrid to Valencia

The capital of the Spanish Kingdom is located 350 km from Valencia in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula. and Valencia are connected by the AVE high-speed rail line, whose trains cross a distance of 350 km in 1 hour 45 minutes. There are also several regular trains running along this route, but travel times increase from four to almost seven hours, making them an unattractive way to travel. In the case of Madrid, I choose the train as my method of transportation only in case of a big rush, since I will have to pay a hefty sum for the speed of the AVE. Buying in advance (at least 3-4 weeks in advance) a ticket will cost on average 30-40 EUR, but the closer the departure date, the higher the price. A week or two before departure, prices double, so be prepared when purchasing a ticket on the day of departure that it can cost 70 EUR. From Madrid trains depart from central station Atocha (blue line 1 metro station of the same name), and in Valencia they come to Joaquín Sorolla station.

I always give my choice to four-wheeled transport: from Madrid to Valencia there are AVANZA buses, and the travel time will take 4 hours and 15 minutes with a 20-minute stop in the middle of the journey, during which you can stretch your legs, buy something from the supermarket, have a snack in a cafe and drink coffee . The price of tickets remains mostly stable - approximately 30 euros for a one-way ticket, but sometimes, when purchasing in advance on the Internet, Avanza offers tickets with the Viajando Voy promotion, which allows you to save 30-45% of the price. Finding out whether this promotion is valid is very simple: when purchasing a ticket under its regular price there will be another one marked Viajando Voy, this is the tariff you need to choose. Buses to Valencia leave from Madrid from the Estación Sur station (Méndez Álvaro metro station, line 6), and to Valencia they arrive at the bus station.

Valencia train stations

As a separate point, I would like to talk about the city’s train stations. Valencia has two train stations - the historic Estación del Norte and the modern Estación Joaquín Sorolla. Most trains long distance and everything is high high speed trains AVEs arrive at the second station, while the first mainly receives trains from the suburbs and several long-distance lines (Talgo trains). In any case, both are in the center at a short distance from each other and are connected by a line free bus, which runs every 10-15 minutes and will take you from one station to another in 5 minutes.

There is also a metro station next to each station - in the case of Estación del Norte it is Xativa (lines 3 and 5), and next to Estación Joaquín Sorolla is Jesus-Joaquín Sorolla (lines 1 and 5).

As for buses, almost all arrive at the only bus station, or, in rare cases, at the Joaquín Sorolla station. The Valencia bus station (its name is Estación de Autobuses de Valencia) is located near the Turia metro station (lines 1 and 2) opposite one of the main attractions of the city - Turia Park, laid out on the site of a once lush, but now dried up river. There is also a bus stop opposite the bus station, from which you can get to the center (bus 79) and to the embankment and the City of Sciences and Arts (bus 1). For more convenient travel on buses, I would recommend turning to the geolocator of the official website of EMT (Valencia transport company), where you can view the movement plan of each bus on the map and create your own route (to do this, just zoom in on the map and select the desired stops marked with a red circle).

Summary

In conclusion, I would like to say to all travelers: do not be afraid and dare! I can vouch that Valencia (and the whole of Spain in general) is the city in which you can move comfortably without knowing the language or a huge budget, while receiving positive emotions at every stage of the journey. Based on my experience, I would advise you to plan your route in advance and familiarize yourself with all the nuances of travel (location and schedule of the airport, train stations, metro, buses), which will help you spend your time as easily and informatively as possible, without putting a strain on your wallet and nervous system!

From Valencia to Madrid by train

The Valencia – Madrid train is the most profitable travel option. Tickets for it can be found much cheaper than for the bus, and the duration of the trip on high-speed trains will be 2 times faster. All trains follow a straight path.

There are many options: high-speed, intercity, regional and other trains are at your service. They differ in travel time and ticket price.

High-speed train

You can get to Valencia in just 1 hour 45 minutes by taking the high-speed AVE train. Trains depart from Valencia Joaquin Sorolla Station and arrive at Madrid-Puerta de Atocha Station.

The earliest high-speed train departs at 6.30 am, the latest at 20.15 pm. The movement interval is approximately every hour.

For the minimum Promo fare, the ticket price is from 21.95 Euros, for the Flexible fare – 73.10 Euros.

Fares may vary depending on the season, but in many cases traveling by high-speed train is even cheaper than long trip by bus.

Long Distance and Medium Distance trains

In addition to high-speed trains, Long Distance and Medium Distance trains also run in this direction. This option is less favorable in terms of travel time and ticket price.

So, the LD train takes about 5 hours along the route, and the MD train takes about 3 hours. At the same time, the cost of travel is higher than on the high-speed route.

These trains depart from the northern station Estacio Del Nord only 2 times a day - at 13.45 and 17.30. The final station is Madrid-Puerta de Atocha station.

On average, the price of a low-fare ticket starts from 33 Euros, which is much higher than on a high-speed train. With a flexible tariff, the cost rises to 55 Euros and above.

Trains Intercity

As an alternative to the high-speed train, you can consider Intercity. In terms of time, it is only 30 minutes longer (only 2 hours 15 minutes), and the ticket price is lower.

There are only two flights daily. The morning one departs at 6.20 a.m. from Estacio Del Nord, arriving at Mardid-Chamartin station.

The evening train leaves at 21.05 from Valencia Joaquin Sorolla, the final station is Madrid-Puerta de Atocha station.

Ticket prices start from just 16.75 Euros for the Promo fare and from 41.90 Euros for the Flexible fare.

Since this is a very profitable option, tickets for Intercity are sold out even faster than for high-speed trains. Therefore, take care of purchasing them in advance, preferably 1-2 months in advance.

Regional train

It would seem that a train ticket should cost less than a high-speed train ticket. But not in the case of this route.

The Regionale train takes a full 6 hours and 47 minutes, which is even longer than the bus. It makes a large number of stops along the way, but the ticket costs more.

Trains depart from Estacio Del Nord station at 6.38, 9.50 and 14.50. Arrive at Mardid-Chamartin station.

Regional train tickets start from 27.40 Euro.
