The resort of Phuket, in Thailand, has been popular with our tourists for many years now. There is nothing fantastic about this. After all, Phuket has everything you need for a holiday. There are beautiful beaches, modern hotels, beautiful nature and a lot of entertainment for every taste and budget. If you decide to fly to Thailand this year, then you will be interested in knowing how long it is to fly to Phuket from Moscow on a direct flight, that is, without a transfer.

The distance from Moscow to Phuket is approximately 7,500 thousand kilometers. This is a lot and most tourists prefer to get to the resort by direct flight. After all, few people would want to fly for so long, and even have to wait for the second flight at the airport.
If you fly non-stop, your travel time will be 9 hours 30 minutes. The time may increase as the weather may change. And the congestion of the airport in Phuket affects the flight time. The cost of the flight can be $400.

If you want to save your money, you can fly to Phuket with transfers. Then the ticket price will be from 250 to 300 dollars. But the flight time will increase. It can range from 13 to 35 hours! Few people agree to travel 35 hours, even saving $100.
If you still decide to fly with transfers, then you should choose a route. You can choose airports in China, South Korea or the UAE as a transfer. But be prepared for the fact that while waiting for the second flight you will not be allowed to leave the transit zone. You will only be able to stay at the airport and visit shops and cafes located on the territory of the airport.

Direct flights have their disadvantages. After all, you will fly for 9-10 hours and you will have to sit all this time. Your back will hurt, your legs will become numb, and you won’t feel great. How to be? First, stock up on newspapers, magazines and books. They will help you pass the time. Secondly, try to buy tickets for the last rows. This way you can at least somehow unfold your chair and take a lying position. Better yet, immediately buy a ticket for a flight where the seats can be slightly reclined and the plane will have a TV and audio system with headphones. Then the travel time will fly by quickly, and you will be able to relax.

Phuket is a paradise for lovers of a carefree beach holiday on the shores of the clear sea at an affordable price. The direct flight distance from Moscow to Phuket is seven thousand four hundred eighty-six kilometers. An airliner can cover such a distance in at least nine hours and eight minutes, at an average speed of eight hundred and fifty kilometers per hour.

Direct charter flights of major tour operators from many Russian cities fly to Phuket. This is one of the popular destinations in tourism. For example, from Vladivostok such a route will take about six hours of direct flight. From Moscow it is now possible to get to Phuket in nine hours.

High demand allowed Aeroflot and Nordwind Airlines to launch direct scheduled flights Moscow - Phuket. The flight time will be nine hours and ten minutes. But the price of such a route will be significantly higher than a flight with transfers. For those looking to save money, the many connecting flight options may seem quite convenient for such a long trip.

When planning a trip to Phuket, a tourist should get acquainted with some of the features of this resort island so that future travel will be comfortable and predictable. Factors influencing the length of the Moscow – Phuket flight include: weather conditions (tsunami, heavy rains), seasonality (low/high), carrier airline, ticket price.

Phuket is one of the resort islands of Thailand, washed by the Andaman Sea. Russian tourists quickly appreciated the advantages of a holiday here: a mild climate, many clean beaches with white sand, affordable prices for rental housing and food, exotic fruits and a lot of entertainment for every taste.

After the filming of the films “Agent 007”, “The Beach”, the coastal islands of the Phuket province became very popular: James Bond Island, Phi Phi Phi, Maya Bay and many others. Experienced tourists compare these places with the Maldives, but vacation prices here are much more affordable.

Climate and seasonality

The climate in the island part of Thailand is subtropical, monsoon. The rainy season lasts from May to October, and dry and hot weather from November to April. The air temperature ranges from 23 to 34 degrees Celsius. Heavy rains can last for several hours in the low season.

From July to September, large waves form on Patong, Coron, Kamala and other beaches on the southwest coast. The reason for this is the emergence of an intense underwater current. Swimming at this time is very dangerous, as the Thais remind by hanging red flags on the shore.

In fact, the rainy season does not mean that at this time Phuket freezes in anticipation of drought. This paradise island is still bustling with life: shops are full of shoppers, massage parlors are full of tired passers-by, and cafes and restaurants are full of guests hungry for Thai cuisine.

Airlines and Phuket International Airport

Phuket Airport is considered the second air hub in Thailand in terms of passenger traffic. This airfield is significantly smaller in size than Bangkok Airport, but also has everything necessary for the convenience of passengers.

The airport terminal is located thirty kilometers from the central Patong beach and is easily accessible by taxi. The airport building consists of two terminals: for international and domestic flights.

In the international terminal (T1) there are restaurants, cafes, and Duty Free shops. On the third floor of the building, at gates 1-2, there are VAT Refund counters. You can use them after passing customs control.

The airport serves aircraft from more than thirty major air carriers in the world. These include airlines: Britain, Australia, Russia, Korea, China, France, Singapore, Turkey, Qatar, Vietnam and other countries.

The following airlines offer daily flights from Moscow airports (Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo) to Thailand to the island of Phuket: Emirates, Aeroflot, Qatar Airways, Thai Airways, S 7 Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Nordwind Airlines, Etihad Airways, Singapore Airlines.

This is significantly more profitable than flying with Nordwind Airlines, whose trip price is forty-one thousand six hundred and forty rubles.

It is possible to be in Phuket in thirteen hours and ten minutes with Qatar Airlines. The connecting waiting time at Hamad Airport is one hour. The price of the flight will be seventeen thousand six hundred rubles.

You can fly twelve hours to your destination (Phuket) with Aeroflot for twenty thousand rubles. A transit wait of one hour and forty minutes will take place at Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airport. This route is convenient because the departure time from Sheremetyevo Airport will take place in the evening at 19.25, and landing at Phuket Airport at 11.25 in the morning. This is quite convenient for your first acquaintance with the island.

It is noteworthy that during the rainy season (August 2018), direct flights from Moscow to Phuket are valid only from Aeroflot. You will have to spend nine hours and forty minutes on the plane, which is thirty minutes longer than in the spring of the same year.

In November 2018, Aeroflot also offers direct flights to this direction, at the same price of twenty-seven thousand seven hundred rubles. But the route from Qatar Airways may seem more profitable. Flight duration is thirteen hours and ten minutes. The connection at Hamad Airport will take an hour. The ticket price is seventeen thousand rubles.

Please note that there are half as many offers from the air ticket booking system for November 2018 (133 options as a result of the search).

Phuket is located opposite another famous resort island, Krabi. About seven hundred thousand tourists fly here every year. Despite such a powerful passenger flow, the island has not lost its zest.

The clearest water, secluded lagoons with palm groves, friendly staff of cozy hotels, delicious seafood will appeal not only to young people (lovers of snorkeling and diving), but also to married couples with children.

You can also get to Krabi using air or sea transport. Krabi Airport, although not large (only one runway), has international status. Such carriers send their planes here: Qatar Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, Thai Airways.

Phi Phi Island, thirty minutes by sea from Phuket, also has its own small airfield. If you wish, you can also get here by air by purchasing a ticket on local airlines. But of course, you shouldn’t rush to get to the islands without exploring such sunny and friendly Phuket. After all, it is here that there are beaches that are among the ten best in Thailand.

The best way to get to Phuket from Moscow is undoubtedly direct Aeroflot flights, but it turned out that there were no tickets available for them, so we had to look for workarounds. A solution was found quite quickly on the Aviasales website, but it turned out to be not an easy one. Instead of a direct ten-hour flight with Aeroflot, we received two flights with a transfer in Istanbul with Turkish Airlines (total duration of twenty hours).

The first flight was from Vnukovo to Istanbul, Ataturk Airport. We flew on an Airbus A321 plane for about three hours. During the flight, the only thing I didn’t like was the lack of WI-Fi. Therefore, since the flight was at night, I had to take a nap. Upon arrival in Turkey, we had a connecting flight to Phuket. If the difference between arrival and departure was about an hour, it would be great, but we had to have fun at the airport for seven whole hours.

Having waited for the long-awaited landing, we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and service on the Airbus A330-300 aircraft. There were excellent gaps between the seats, and the legs did not rest against the backrests. Each passenger not only had his own entertainment system with a wide selection of the latest films in all languages, but also a set of hygiene products, which included a toothbrush, toothpaste, night eye mask, and other small items. Immediately after takeoff, the flight attendants provided warm towels for drying hands, after which they began distributing food. The menu turned out to be more than decent: rice with chicken in sauce, beans in tomato, fresh salad, a bottle of wine, chocolate mousse and a buttered bun.

After having a snack, we watched one movie each and, leaning back in our chairs, got ready for bed. In the morning, the flight attendants served breakfast, after which they began to prepare passengers for boarding. Believe me, this flight was so comfortable that we completely forgot about the seven hours of waiting at Ataturk Airport.

Positive points:

  • Excellent service on board;
  • Availability of dinner and breakfast;
  • Soft takeoff and landing.
