The oldest planetarium in Russia and one of the largest in the world, the Moscow Planetarium can delight astronomy lovers of any age, although I recommend coming here with children over 6 years old, because younger children may find it boring and confusing. I’ll say right away that you should spend the whole day visiting the Planetarium or split your visit into two days: there are a lot of activities and information. You should definitely visit the Great Star Hall and the Urania Museum, as well as the Lunarium Interactive Museum (free for children under 6 years old). I don’t recommend going to the Theater of Fascinating Science - it’s boring and definitely not worth the extra 600 rubles. Tickets can be purchased in advance, but there are no discounts available on the website.

One of my favorite pastimes is ice skating. And even though I love you very much open skating rinks, their indoor counterparts are significantly superior to the former in terms of ice quality: for this reason, skating on them with children is much more pleasant, and there are much fewer people. One of those places that I look at and am terribly jealous of today's children: as a child, I would have swallowed a hat to visit here. KidZania opened in Moscow quite recently, but has already gained thousands of fans, including me. This is a play learning park, built in the shape of a city, where children can try themselves in a hundred different professions: cook, dentist, policeman, fireman. The child will have his own passport and even a salary, which he can spend on entertainment or in the store. If your child is over 7 years old and is completely independent, then you can save on the cost of the ticket for yourself and wait for him outside the park. Duration of stay in KidZania is 4 hours, but summer holidays there is no restriction, and you can spend the whole day here.

Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow

This museum will be appreciated by young astronautics enthusiasts. It is located next to VDNKh, so it is convenient to combine a visit to it with a walk around VDNKh. The museum is located under the “Rocket” (the “Space Conquerors” monument), which is the main landmark. There are excursions for children and films about space are shown here. Zaryadye Park

Kolomenskoye

One of the oldest and most beautiful parks in Moscow. The main attraction of Kolomenskoye is the Church of the Ascension of the 16th century. The first stone tented temple in Rus' is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Interesting are the ancient Church of Our Lady of Kazan, the House of Peter I. Near the station. m. "Kashirskaya" the Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was opened. A beautiful park in the south of Moscow. A large-scale reconstruction was also carried out here in 2006-2007, during which the palace, which had been in ruins for several centuries, was completed. The outstanding architect V. Bazhenov worked on the Tsaritsyno palace ensemble, and later the no less eminent M. Kazakov.

Kuzminki

This park is located far from the center of Moscow. It is interesting for families with children, first of all, because it is located there. It is open throughout the year. Moscow Zoo

The Moscow Zoo occupies a large space and is divided into 2 parts: the old and new territory. To explore all corners, you need to spend most day. Moscow Planetarium

The planetarium was first opened in 1929. Since the mid-90s of the last century, it has been closed for renovation. But, having opened in 2011, it quickly became a favorite Moscow attraction. The Planetarium is one of those places in Moscow that you must visit with children. It hosts colorful full-dome programs for adults and children aged 6, 7, 8 years and older, an interactive museum, an observatory and a 4D cinema. There are also programs for the youngest visitors - children 5 years old.

The planetarium is located next to the zoo, so it is convenient to combine visits to these two objects. In addition, there is a single ticket for visiting the zoo and planetarium on the same day. The day off at the planetarium is Tuesday, at the zoo it is Monday.

What to see in Moscow with a child in one day

If you only have one day to explore Moscow, you shouldn’t try to see all the main attractions of the capital in that day. You won’t be able to do this anyway, and in return you will only get fatigue and not the most pleasant emotions. It’s better to focus on one route, and don’t forget to take lunch.

If this is your first time in Moscow, go to Red Square. This is one of the main places and the main attraction, where you should definitely go with your child in Moscow. Show your child what the Kremlin towers, St. Basil's Cathedral and the famous Kremlin wall with dovetails look like.

From there you will get to GUM; the nearest entrance to it is on Red Square. If you have the strength, visit the Central House of Music; you can walk to it, take the metro, or walk along Tverskaya and Old Arbat streets.
