We went on April 24. Excellent tour of content and organization! The guide is just super! Knowledge of the material is intertwined with humor. It definitely won't be boring. We didn’t even notice how we got to Krumlov, and it took 2-3 hours to get there. The medieval town is impressive, as is the castle. I recommend! The main thing is to be lucky with the guide.

So far it was the most beautiful place in the Czech Republic!) The city really is like a bright box, winter also added charm. It’s a bit slippery, really, because there are a lot of inclines, but narrow streets and many interesting corners brighten up this tiny minus. The guide told, showed and explained everything perfectly. The group was large, but that didn't stop us.

Good afternoon! Congratulations to Megatour on the upcoming 2019! 12/21/2018. I visited Cesky Krumlov and the castle and Hluboka, I purchased the excursion in advance via the Internet, there were no problems. The bus was small, it was very convenient, it’s good that the group was small! The guide Larisa treated everyone with warmth and care! The route is very interesting, I recommend it, it’s very nice that there is no “imposition” to visit any restaurants, only answers to questions and explanations.... the castle is very interesting, in winter, of course, not all the halls are shown, but it was enough to get an idea! I’m satisfied with the excursion, very sincere!

Went to Krumlov and Hluboka Castle. Our guide was a wonderful man, Vladimir. Knowledgeable in almost all topics and can support any topic. A true professional, perfectly disciplined and excellent at managing time, which we always lack. Always offers options for spending time. Those who wanted to go to the castle went to see the castle - the rest went for a walk and this was also an excellent decision, because... the weather was gorgeous. On the bus they asked Vladimir to tell him something :), because it was interesting to some, and had a soothing effect on others, which is undoubtedly a big plus. Whoever wanted what he wanted got it. Well done Megatour!

We bought 4 sightseeing tours from Mega Tour in Prague, Krumlov and Hluboka Castle, Munich and the castles of Bavaria, Dresden. We were completely delighted with both the places and the professionalism of the guides. Each guide has extensive knowledge and is distinguished by charisma, artistry, and humor. The novel showed Prague and Krumlov in an interesting way, Natalya Pavlova simply spoke fabulously about the Czech Republic and Germany on a two-day tour, it is clear that a person lives by his work, cares about people, and knows the business! You won’t be bored on the bus either; Natalya will turn on a disc with a review film, or comedies, Natalya told us what and where to buy, where exactly you should go in your free time, where which stores are so that you can buy what you want economically. Guide to Dresden-Svetlana is also an interesting person, she tells something from her own life connected with these places, she presents the material in an interesting way, absolutely not boring! I definitely recommend Mega Tour!

Definitely worth your time and attention! The castle is incredibly beautiful, both outside and inside. Moving from one hall to another, our small group of 15 people (we were lucky, as there were few of us at the end of October and no one joined us) constantly groaned with delight. We even managed to fully explore Krumlov in the time allotted to us, but without lunch, of course. Truly a fabulous city. Small and cozy. I highly recommend it!

We bought an excursion from Mega Tour, but it was conducted by another partner company. 08/24/2018 Thanks to the guide Margarita for the interesting story and positive mood. Hluboka Castle is worthy of admiration for the craftsmen who created the interiors of this castle - all rooms are decorated with wood with incredible, skillful carvings! Surprise and beauty! Cesky Krumlov is a pleasant, cozy, fairy-tale town where you can admire the architecture and taste delicious fried Camembert and smoked beer. I really enjoyed the excursion.

Thanks to the guide Valera - the story was very interesting. And the beer is very tasty, I recommend it. Krumlov is very good - it’s a pity you don’t have enough time. Hluboka Castle is worth a visit - the interiors are rich and preserved to this day. In general, the excursion is a must-see.

Thank you for the excellent organization of excursions! Individual approach (meeting at the collection point, accompaniment), prompt responses, everything is competent, clear and understandable. The Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle is festive, bright, solemn, the interiors are chic, the excursion is recorded by a professional actor’s voice, I liked this presentation, the only thing, in my opinion, is that groups for going to the castle itself should be formed smaller, 12-15 people each (for example, start with different sides to save time). A million enthusiastic words have already been said about Krumlov, I’m just joining in) I think that this town will be pleasant and charming at any time of the year and everyone will find something of their own in it. Thank you again for such good emotions!!!)))))))

I liked: the opportunity to buy a tour via the Internet, very convenient; well organized; tour to the most beautiful places; friendly guide and careful driver. We arrived in Prague on April 26th. Immediately, we booked excursions online on the MEGA tour website. The good news was that when ordering 3 excursions at once, we received a gift - another one for free. The first excursion was a walk around Prague in a small group. I highly recommend this format for getting to know Prague - we walked slowly, no one was looking for anyone, a wonderful, knowledgeable guide, overall 5 with many advantages! Then there were trips to Kutna Hora, Karlovy Vary, an evening boat trip, the Kozel brewery and a walk through the Jewish quarter. Everything was great, the guides were very interesting, thank you very much to MEGA tour!

I bought excursions online via the Internet 2 weeks before the trip. We were in Prague from 10/29/18 to 11/02/18. We took 3 excursions for two: Three capitals on the Danube, Czech Krumlov and Hluboka nad Vltavou, Kutna Hora. It so happened that all excursions were conducted by guides from other travel agencies. (I think there were not enough people and we were transferred to others), but this did not affect the quality of services. The first excursion was conducted by Margarita. A very professional guide. It is obvious that she knows history very well, talks interestingly and she likes it. I would like to give advice - November is not the best month for excursions. You arrive in Budapest in the evening, it’s dark (Hungarians change the time) And if it rains or fogs, you won’t really see anything. We’re lucky, being in the lights at night is a miracle! The rest of the excursions also went well (guide Roman) and (guide Vladimir). An excursion to Kutna Hora is not for everyone. It is overpriced. The Temple of Barbara and the ossuary are what we saw. Compared to other excursions, it loses. (But this is just my opinion). I would like to express my gratitude to Mega Tour for the timely conduct of excursions and for the discount provided , and this is a TRANSFER from and to the airport. Just well done! They arrived on time, met us and drove us away. Thank you very much again! Reliable travel agency, keep it up!

The guide this time was Olga, I heard only positive reviews about Olga and a good impression of the trip. Thank you! P.S. The only thing is that the bus is not very comfortable, it’s too small. Apparently it depends on the number of people...

Great. It was interesting, first of all, thanks to the guide Anna, she told a very interesting story and gave a lot of information - in general, it was not boring. The Ossuary is definitely worth visiting at least once in your lifetime. Kutna Hora somehow reminded me of Sighnaghi with its streets (without the cathedral, of course) - there is a lot to see. The castle was also impressive, it stands on a very beautiful place, there is also something to see inside, although of course it cannot be compared with Hluboka nad Vltavou or Karlštejn.

The excursion to Kutna Hora is very interesting. Everything, of course, depends on the guide, so I want to thank our guide Yulia for an interesting excursion this fall, I wish there were more guides like him! Before my trip to Prague, to be honest, I knew little about this country, but in 3 days I learned a lot of interesting and useful information. The excursion is not tiring, we return to the city around 16-30, so there is still half a day left to explore something else. I recommend!

I didn’t want to go, mainly because of the church with bones, the Ossuary, but my husband persuaded me. I liked the city itself, quite interesting and pretty. Ossuary, of course, is not for everyone. I wouldn’t recommend it to impressionable people, but Kutna Mountain itself, yes.

It's always difficult to write good reviews. The excursion is very interesting, the objects are worth attention, the guide is a smart, educated girl with good speech and a broad outlook. Be sure to go to the restaurant with a fireplace on the mountain: the food is fabulous, the prices are very reasonable. Additional costs: Ossuary - 90 CZK; St. Barbara's Cathedral -60 CZK; Castle (without the possibility of taking photographs) - 150 CZK, with a photo 195 CZK. On May 9, 2019, we went on an excursion to Karlovy Vary and the Krusovice brewery. The excursion was purchased from the Mega Tour company, a group of tourists from this company was combined with another company that conducted this excursion. Great bus, knowledgeable guide, experienced driver, well organized tasting at the brewery, beautiful Karlovy Vary. But the excursion did not begin in accordance with the program: even before leaving Prague, the group was brought for a whole hour to the Museum of Czech Crafts (I think that’s the name of this exhibition selling jewelry and other products). This forced stop was not included in the program, and this hour would have been very useful in Karlovy Vary. The guide did not ask the tourists for their consent to deviate from the program and actually violate the contract, and did not respond to the question of whether it was too long for this event. Please take into account the situation described and do not shorten your review if you publish it.

Interesting castle. Very cozy, well maintained, the castle is owned by the state. Interesting exposition. After fleeing France from the guillotine de Roganov, Sikhrov became their family castle. The Rogans are an illustrious ducal Breton family name. You can appreciate the excellent taste of the people who lived here for yourself. The Sviyany beer factory, although ancient, experienced its revival 20 years ago. The owners restored the brewing recipes. The employees enthusiastically talk about their company, so you can be sure that beer is not made from powder. For me the tour is too long. Our group perked up only at the barrel from which we took samples. Yes! There are also interesting robotic manipulators with the names Helmut and Hans in the finished goods warehouse. I'm not a beer drinker, but it was useful for general development.

Excursions around the Czech Republic from Prague

If Prague is the heart of the Czech Republic, then the Czech Republic is the heart of Europe. Located in the very center of the Old World, this country, consisting of three historical regions - Bohemia, Moravia and part of Silesia - never ceases to attract tourists with its beautiful sights, which are found in literally every city.

We, the Megatour company, invite all guests of the capital to take excursions with us in the Czech Republic, which you will want to repeat again and again with each visit. There are a lot of memorable and simply interesting places in it. Not to mention the fact that each such place certainly has its own story that is worth hearing.

Interesting, exciting, creative

We offer only interesting, exciting and creative excursions from Prague to the Czech Republic in Russian, and this is the constant credo of our travel company.

In particular, you will have an unforgettable trip to Karlovy Vary, founded in the 14th century by King Charles IV. It has gained fame not only as the most famous Czech resort, but also as one of the most beautiful European cities. According to one legend, His Majesty once went hunting into a wooded area with mountains and valleys. And during the royal hunt, one of the dogs, chasing game, ended up in a pool with a hot spring. Its stream severely burned the unfortunate dog, but the king was greatly amazed at what happened - what kind of miracle is this? When Karl personally saw this extraordinary natural phenomenon, he became convinced that the water from the source was very useful and restorative.

This story is one of many, and also retold very briefly. Now imagine that you not only hear these legends in detail, but are also personally present in the places where all the amazing events unfolded. It's absolutely breathtaking, isn't it?

Budweiser Budvar, Staropramen, Bernard, Gambrinus, Pilsner Urquell, Kozel, Radegast, Krusovice... I'm sure you are probably familiar with these, as well as many other names of Czech beer brands. Every self-respecting connoisseur of Czech beer is simply obliged to visit Czech breweries and get acquainted with the production process of the famous Czech drink. To do this, there is absolutely no need to overpay for the next group excursion: organizing such leisure time is not difficult and very inexpensive. You can get to any of the breweries by inexpensive public or commercial transport, and the cost of a ticket, as a rule, is no more than 200 Czech crowns. The money saved on the participation of intermediaries can be usefully spent on a delicious dinner and a couple of glasses of excellent Czech beer. And independent travel, you see, is always more interesting and exciting than group excursions!

Staropramen (1869)

The Staropramen brewery was born in 1869, and today it is the second largest brewery in the republic. If you have no particular desire to leave Prague, then a visit to Staropramen is for you. All you need to do is go down the metro and get to the station Andel(yellow line), and then walk 5 minutes to the street. Pivovarska. The cost of the excursion for an adult is CZK 199. A family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children costs CZK 449. In the restored old brewery building, you'll experience "an interactive journey through time, where you'll learn about the history of Staropramen." Tours are conducted in English, Russian, Czech and German. The tour can be booked online, but this is not necessary because most breweries regularly offer tours for everyone without any reservations. But it’s best to play it safe by calling. +420 273 132 589 and specify the day and time of such excursions. And, of course, no visit to the brewery is complete without a restaurant! Potrefena Husa (na Verandach) is literally around the corner from the brewery. Any of the traditional dishes in Potrefena Husa, and especially with a glass or two of cold Staropramen, is a real gastronomic orgasm! For lovers of raw meat, I especially recommend trying Potrefen tartare.

Velkopopovicky Kozel (1874)

The first historical mention of a brewery in Velké Popovica dates back to the 14th century. However, the brewery we see today was founded by Frantisek Ringhoffer, the mayor of Smichov in Prague and a well-known businessman in the 19th century, after he bought and rebuilt an old brewery that was withering before our eyes. The first batch of Kozel beer was brewed in 1875, and today it is a real icon of Czech beer, along with Pilsner Urquell, Budweiser Budvar and many others. Expect a fascinating journey into the history of Kozel beer, including various aspects of brewing, an interactive exhibition and, of course, tasting. Tours are held in Czech, Russian, English and German. You can either book a tour or simply visit the brewery during opening hours and join a tour (April to September at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, or October to March on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 pm). And don't forget to stop by for lunch Velkopopovicka Kozlovna- a wonderful restaurant located just a few meters from the main gate of the brewery. The cuisine in Kozlovna is absolutely fantastic, especially with fresh, cold Kozlik straight from the barrel. You can get to Velke Popovice by taking bus number 363 (metro station. Opatov red line). The journey will take only 50 minutes and cost 24 CZK. The Jizdnirady website will help you find the bus schedule from the stop. Opatov before Velke Popovice.

Budejovicky Budvar (1895)

When talking about excursions to Czech breweries, you can’t go past Budvar! “Surrounded by the aromas of Moravian malt and Žatec hops...” MY GOD! I was there only two years ago, but I still remember that warm, sweet smell that envelops everyone immediately upon entering the brewery building! Today Budvar deserves special respect. As one of the largest breweries in the Czech Republic, Budejovicky Budvar remains Czech-owned and operated with 100% Czech capital. While international conglomerates are buying up Czech breweries one after another, Budvar continues to maintain its position in the market, and the famous Budweiser Budvar Premium Lager remains one of the most exported brands of Czech beer. During the tour you will learn about the history of the brewery and discover some of the secrets of making this delicious beer. Excursions without reservations take place every weekday at 14.00 (including weekends from April to November). You can get to Budvar by train to Ceske Budejovice from the Main Station, then using a taxi or public transport (stop “Budvar”). It’s even easier to get to Budejovice by taking the Student Agency bus. You can view the schedule and book tickets.

Plzensky Prazdroj (1839)

The bitter taste of Pilsner Urquell is a signature feature of one of the most popular brands of Czech beer. But Plzensky Prazdroj is not only the famous Pilsner. Gambrinus, Kozel, Radegast, as well as non-alcoholic Birell are also part of the Plzensky Prazdroj family. Opened at the beginning of the 19th century, the plant has become a leading producer of Czech beer and is now part of the SABMiller conglomerate. All useful information about visiting this truly huge factory, including various excursions, prices and special offers, can be found by clicking here. You can also visit the Gambrinus brewery, the brewing museum and even go on a historical excursion into the Pilsen dungeons! Pilsen is an incredibly interesting city, so it’s better to reserve time and get there early. The easiest way is to get to Plzen by Student Agency bus. The journey will take only an hour and will cost 100 CZK. Then you can take a taxi, or use public transport (Prazdroj stop). As usual, open Jizdnirady to view the schedules.

To be continued…

Day trips from Prague

#1. Karlovy Vary

A small town in the west of the country, which is the first place to visit from Prague, is famous for its mineral springs. There are fifteen of them in total and they are all well equipped. There are many sanatoriums, as it is believed that local waters are useful for diseases of the stomach, liver and intestines. Of course, in order to receive full treatment, you need to come here for a longer period, but there is a lot to see in the city in one day.

Among the main attractions: the Geyser Colonnade, the Jan Becher Museum with the Becherovka brand store, the Diana Tower with an observation deck from where you can see the city and the surrounding area, the Moser Glass Factory - the birthplace of Czech royal crystal. Even just walking around the city is quite interesting. Don't forget about the local forest parks, where there are trails for hiking.

To travel to Karlovy Vary, it is best to take an excursion. This way there will be fewer problems with tickets. This is a popular destination, it’s worth booking several days in advance, especially for early flights, which sell out quickly. If possible, you can order an individual route - for example, a 10-hour excursion. If the cost of 229 EUR is divided by a company of seven people, it comes out to just over 30 EUR.

If you decide to get there on your own, we recommend choosing a bus.

Buses depart from the Florence bus station (nearby is the metro of the same name), flights start at 6:30 and then every hour. The cost of the trip is 149 CZK, and the journey will take you just over two hours. The last departure from Karlovy Vary is at 20:00. But by train from the Main Station you will have to travel an hour longer. In addition, only the first train is suitable, which leaves very early, at 5:18. If you go second, you will be there closer to eleven. The ticket will cost 10 CZK more (2nd class).

By the way, be careful when purchasing tickets at the box office. It is necessary not only to name the destination station, but also to stipulate the absence of transfers.

This will not affect the cost, but two or three transfers may be arranged for you. This is true for all destinations in the Czech Republic. In our article, ticket prices are provided subject to advance purchase. If you take them directly on the day of departure, the cost will increase two to three times.

#2. Karlštejn Castle

One of the most popular places for Saturday and Sunday rest among Prague residents themselves. This is explained not only by its proximity to the capital - it is only 30 km away, but also by its rich history and picturesque surroundings. called one of the symbols of the country. In any case, without visiting the most famous castle in the Czech Republic, the trip can hardly be called complete.

Getting to it is as easy as shelling pears. A commuter train departs from Prague every half hour to the city of Beroun. You need to get to the stop, which is called Karlštejn. It will take about forty minutes, and you will have to pay 55 CZK. There is also a bus that goes to the castle. Line 311 departs from Zličín metro station every 30 minutes. But this is an ordinary city bus that makes many stops, and the journey takes 50 minutes.

#3. Liberec

One of the most modern, which has not lost touch with the past. A futuristic TV tower and an ancient town hall in the Gothic style, Liberec Castle and a zoo with open-air enclosures coexist here. You can visit the botanical garden and water park, take the cable car to Mount Jested.

There are several large castles in the surrounding area, but it is better to set aside a separate day to visit them. Otherwise, Liberec is a great idea for a one-day excursion from Prague - take note!

Despite the fact that Liberec is a fairly large city by Czech standards and almost one hundred thousand people live there, there is no direct train from Prague. In terms of time and money, the most profitable option for the railway is to make a transfer in Turnov, but it still takes 2.5 hours and 109 CZK.

It takes a little over an hour to get there by bus, the trip will cost 89 CZK. The final stop in Prague is near the Černý Most station, the travel interval is one hour.

#4. Czech krumlov

A small but very atmospheric city, the architecture of which has remained almost unchanged since the late Middle Ages. Even part of the city walls and fortifications have been preserved. The historical center is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The only negative is that you will have to walk almost everywhere; the streets are so narrow that modern transport will not fit there. There are many attractions in the city, so it is better to book a tour from Prague to see them all.

The Krumlov Castle is definitely worth a visit. It is the second largest preserved in the Czech Republic and is interesting not only from the point of view of beauty. In the summer, costume festivals are held on its territory, which recreate the life of the past. In addition, you should definitely take a walk along the Cloak Bridge, the town hall and the streets of the city, look into the Minorite monastery, local museums, the Egon Schiele art center and the Fairytale House, where puppet theater performances take place.

There are two options for organized trips to Krumlov to choose from:

  • Group for 27 EUR per person. It takes place on a large bus with a guide. The group has up to 50 people;
  • A more interesting, but also slightly more expensive option is an individual excursion lasting 10 hours. Cost 250 EUR per group of up to 4 people.

For those who want to organize a trip from Prague on their own. The direct train from Prague to Cesky Krumlov leaves late - at 8 am. However, you can take the Prague-Linz Express, which leaves the Main Station at 6:02, and get off at Ceske Budejovice station, where after 9 minutes you can transfer to the train heading to Nové Udoli. It's not as convenient as the express train and has a lot of stops, but you'll be there in 45 minutes.

The bus to Krumlov starts departing at 6:00, but its final destination is not the Florence bus station, but the Na Knížecí station. The journey in both cases takes almost three hours, and the travel cost is 189 CZK.

#5. Kutna Hora

Ossuary - one of the strangest attractions in the Czech Republic

A small town in the east of the Czech Republic that is worth a day trip from Prague is Kutná Hora. It is filled with ancient churches, cathedrals, palaces and other interesting tourist sites. The fact is that some of the richest silver mines in Europe were exploited here for a long time, and local residents invested part of the extracted wealth in construction. World famous places in the city: the Church of All Saints with its ossuary, the former mint, the Hrádek silver museum on a medieval mine and the Ursuline monastery.

Usually in the Czech Republic, bus routes are more convenient than train routes. In this direction it is not true. Trains (direct or with a change in Kolin) go to Kutna Hora every hour and a half, the ticket costs 89 CZK, and the journey time is about 60 minutes. Route 381 departs from Háje station every hour or two; it takes just over an hour and a half and costs 100 CZK.

#6. Sykhrov Castle

Sychrov Castle is one of the places worth visiting from Prague!

A neo-Gothic castle, well known in Russia from the fairy tale film “Three Nuts for Cinderella,” which was filmed within its walls. The castle was built in the 17th century, but in the mid-18th century it was rebuilt in the spirit of French romanticism. It is interesting for its huge collection of antique furniture, dishes, household items and weapons. At the heart of the storerooms are treasures taken by representatives of the family of princes Roganov from France during the revolution. Because of this, Sykhrov is called the French corner in the Czech Republic.

If you are too lazy to organize trips from Prague on your own, book excursions on Tripster. These routes are created by local residents who have a lot to tell about the surrounding areas of Prague. You can go to Sykhrov with a guide Nadezhda along the route. During the 7-hour excursion you will learn a lot and have a great time!

There is no direct transport connection between Prague and Sykhrov, although it is located only 90 km from the capital. Therefore, if you come across a tour to this castle, take advantage of this offer. In addition, her program usually includes another castle, most often Fridlant, or Turnov, which you still have to pass through. It is also best to get there on your own through this city.

At 9:25 a.m. a train leaves Prague and arrives at Turnov station at 11:12 a.m., and at 11:30 a.m. a bus departs from there directly to the castle. The terminal is located near the station. The trip will cost 79 CZK for an express ticket and 20 CZK to go directly to Sykhrov.

#7. Spa Teplice

The city is located just 90 kilometers from Prague, almost at the very border with. Tourists are primarily attracted by the local thermal springs and the architecture of the historical part of Teplice. In recent years, in addition to spa treatment, they have offered various beauty treatments and relaxation services, such as massages or thermal pools. Of course, ordinary tourists will also like it here. In addition to historical attractions such as Duchcov Castle or the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Teplice has a beautiful Botanical Garden and Lake Barbora.

If you still decide to get there on your own, then, like everywhere else in the Czech Republic, you will have to choose between bus and train transport. In principle, both methods are convenient, but most often they choose the train. The fact is that it departs from the Main Station approximately every two hours, starting at 5:18.

But buses leave from Holesovice station from 7:30, although at hourly intervals. This means that you will need more time on the metro. The cost is almost the same: the train will cost 79 CZK, and the bus - 69 CZK.

#8. Melnik Castle

Melnik town and castle - the idea for a luxury excursion from Prague!

Tourists are attracted not only by the past of this castle; today here you can try local wines and beer, sit in a cafe with a beautiful view of the city, and attend concerts. Naturally, excursions are held here, and the current owner of the castle introduces you to the exhibits of the interior chambers. You can walk around the city, see historical buildings and visit the local history museum, as well as get acquainted with the life of the modern Czech province.

The easiest way to get to the city of Melnik is by bus. From Holesovice train station they run on weekdays every half hour and for only 50 CZK. There are few direct passenger trains and the ticket price is already 77 CZK. You can take the fast train to Turnov to Vshetat station. However, it must be remembered that in any case, from the station to the castle itself you will have to walk about another twenty minutes.

#9. Makhavo Lake

When Prague residents want to get their fill of a real beach holiday, they go to Machavo Lake. This artificial reservoir was created back in the fourteenth century, and today it is a favorite place for picnics. Here you can not only lie on the sand and ride a yacht, but also stroll through the coniferous forest, visit Bezdez Castle and go fishing.

The village of Doksy is located on the shore of the lake. Accordingly, it is necessary to get to it. If you go by train, you will have to pay 159 CZK and make at least one change in Bakov or Mlada Boleslav. But there is a direct bus from Holesovice station. However, it must be taken into account that the route is fully operational only in the summer season. The rest of the time the flight operates only once a day.

#10. Dresden, Germany

Dresden is an easy day trip from Prague

In principle, from Prague you can easily travel to almost all major cities in Europe, but Dresden is the closest. It is only 150 km away. You can easily organize a one-day tour, see the Gallery of Old Masters and other museums in the city, go shopping, visit local cathedrals and try German beer. Even a simple walk through the old town will leave behind many pleasant memories and memorable photographs.

Communication between the cities is very good, and the traffic is quite large. There are even several trains. The cheapest way to get there is by Berlin EC 178 Alois Negrelli, which departs at 6:28. A ticket to Dresden on it will cost 239 crowns, other trains will cost more, at least 372 crowns.

Buses that depart from Florence bus station travel in this direction eight times a day, and tickets sell for 295 CZK.

Excursions in Prague and surrounding areas

The most interesting excursions we found in Prague were private tours from locals. They will not only guide you along the route, but also tell you where to spend your free time and how to save money in Prague.

Florence metro station on the map of Prague

If you are determined to organize excursions from Prague yourself, here is Florence station on the map. The hotels closest to it are marked with markers. This area is convenient for living - close

I want to walk around this city along all possible roads and nooks and crannies, absorb its unique atmosphere, take with me as much baggage as possible of the brightest, most unforgettable impressions... but how?! How to do everything in 1-2 weeks of vacation? What to see in Prague first, what attractions are the most interesting? At the same time, I would like not to go broke, because sometimes guides ask for decent money for their services. It is for such tourists - curious, thirsty for unforgettable experiences and at the same time able to count a penny - that we have selected the best excursions in Prague.

The most beautiful castles

In the vicinity of Prague there are many ancient castles with a rich history, and most of them are included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list.

Your guide can organize individual excursions or a guided tour for a small group at your request, which will have a positive impact on the cost.

Some of the most popular and most visited castles include:

  • Orlik is the most romantic place in the whole Czech Republic. It is located on the rocky coast of the Vltava.
  • Karlštejn is a castle originally built to store the treasures of kings and princes.
  • Hluboka nad Vltava is the most beautiful castle in the country, where, in addition to divine architecture, you can admire ancient Flemish tapestries, collections of furniture, faience, paintings, and visit the armory rich in exhibits.
  • Konopiste is a castle in Bohemia, which became famous for its English garden and luxurious interiors.

So we looked at all the most interesting (from the must-see category) and inexpensive excursions in Prague. Enjoy a magical and relatively cheap vacation to the fullest!

Pilsen is the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic, located in Western Bohemia. Its name speaks for itself and is certainly well known to lovers of intoxicating drinks. It was here that the world-famous Pilsner beer was first brewed, and here the famous automobile company Škoda produces high-quality cars. Also in the city there are branches and workshops of companies such as Panasonic and Daikin. In addition, Pilsen is famous for its rich architecture and historical attractions, which attract many tourists to this city.

Tourism in Pilsen

Compared to many other cities, Pilsen, unfortunately, cannot boast the same comfortable climate. It rains briefly here at all times of the year. Winters are cold, but summers are quite hot. The average temperature in July is usually around 30°C. However, it alternates with gray and cold days, as well as high levels of humidity. Due to these circumstances, Pilsen is not so popular among tourists, however, on the one hand, this is an undoubted advantage of the city. You will not have to experience difficulties with booking hotels, jostling in queues during excursions, and in general, you will be able to feel at home, because the owners of hotels and private boarding houses are very happy to have guests who do not visit them as often as they would like. Experienced tourists recommend going to Pilsen in October. It is this month that the famous beer festival, one of the oldest in the country, is held here. At this time, anyone, provided that they have reached the age of majority, can taste authentic Czech beer and enjoy theatrical performances completely free of charge. Despite its status as the “capital of beer,” the city was able to successfully preserve its original flavor and contain, as if in a book, the heritage of various historical periods.

Why is it worth visiting Pilsen?

Pilsen is a truly unique city. So, for example, being “grown” not on the site of a village or small settlement, as was customary in the Middle Ages, but built by special order of the king on the plain, it is distinguished by wide areas, and all streets and avenues intersect strictly at right angles. That is why it is almost impossible to get lost in the city. By the way, the central square of Pilsen is also considered the largest in Western Europe. Isn't all this worthy of tourists' attention? When going on vacation to Pilsen, do not forget that it does not have resort status, and therefore the tourism sector here is less developed than in many other Czech cities. There are only two official travel agencies. The first is located right at the railway station, the second - on the central square. By contacting here, you can get information about the nearest hotels and hostels, get a free city guide, as well as all the detailed information about upcoming events.

What to see in Pilsen?

There's certainly a lot to see in the city besides the breweries. For example, the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, which is located on Republic Square. Its height is slightly more than 100 meters, and therefore from the highest tower there is a magnificent view of both the city itself and its surroundings. There are also local legends here. As the indigenous people say, if you touch the sculpture of an angel decorating the cathedral fence, it will bring happiness and good luck in business. True, be prepared to stand in a decent line before such a touch.

For art lovers, the West Bohemian Gallery is open in the city. Her collection is so large that it does not fit in one building, and therefore it was decided to build a “double” of it. An interesting fact - the main branch of the gallery is located on Prazskaya Street - in fact, in the very center of the city, and the second, as paradoxical as it may sound, was for a long time located in the building of the meat market, which is located in Krizhikov Gardens. Despite this “heterogeneity,” the gallery’s administration managed to keep the original layout virtually untouched. In 2019, the collection of paintings exhibited in the meat market building gradually moved to a new building, for which the architects chose a futuristic style.

It would be unfair to neglect government facilities, namely the building of the City Hall and the Imperial House, located not far from it. The Town Hall itself is located in the city center, apparently so that the authorities are closer to the people. The building has a Gothic architectural form, which is, in principle, rare for government buildings. However, it is important to take into account the age of the Town Hall, since it was built back in the 16th century. Today, all government decisions are made in the Imperial House, and the Town Hall is used by city residents to hold various celebrations and holidays. Any tourist can visit it absolutely free.

Excursions for adults

As we wrote earlier, Pilsen is the unofficial “capital of beer”. In this regard, many tourists, without hesitation, choose to visit the Pilsner Museum. During the excursion, visitors will be told how beer is brewed at the plant, will be presented with a model of the very first apparatus producing an intoxicating drink, and will also be shown the legendary cellars where beer is brewed.

Another “adult” museum worthy of attention is the Brewing Museum itself, located in a malthouse built in the Middle Ages. It is the very first museum in the world specializing in the “intoxication theme”.
