Virtual maps of world cities. Virtual walk: excursions to museums around the world

Do you like to travel? Yes, nowadays such pleasure is not cheap. Not everyone has the opportunity to travel to Ukraine, not to mention the cities of the World. And I really want to walk along the streets of Madrid or Paris.

My mother and I often sit down at the computer in the evenings and go for a walk around the city of our youth, Lvov. It will be pleasant to plunge into the atmosphere of your childhood, where everything is so close and dear.

While we lived there, we didn’t notice much. And when was it noticed? But now you can calmly “walk” along any street and look at every house and every tree...

And you have this opportunity. All you need for such trips is a computer and Internet access. So, let's take a walk through the streets of the Polish Republic of Warsaw as an example.

Such walks can be made both in the Yandex and Google search engines. Abroad, Google has more opportunities and more busy online cities. So we’ll go to the Google search engine (google.ru) and type two words into the search engine google maps.

A map with street names will open. We choose any point we like on this map. A small photograph of the street appears below.

Click on this photo and move to this point.

Point the mouse at the road along which we will move and click the mouse. Some people find it more convenient to use the arrow buttons (forward, back, right, left) on the keyboard.

At the very bottom there are small photographs. You can click on any of them and you will immediately move to the point shown in the photo.

Thus, you can navigate through any cities that are loaded into such maps and view all the sights of the World.

“Walk” and admire the architecture of the great and beautiful world capitals and simple cozy towns of our homeland.

At the very bottom of the frames there is a link “Frequently asked questions”, you can click.

Here on the right there is a scroll down slider, scroll and read. You can also watch a video that shows how to use the project, albeit quite quickly. To start viewing, press the red button in the center.

To watch the video in full screen, click the button marked with an arrow. To return to the previous mode, press the "Esc" key on your keyboard.

Virtual train journey along the Great Trans-Siberian Railway

Here's another unique opportunity virtual train journey along the Great Trans-Siberian Railway. You can travel more than nine thousand kilometers without leaving your home. A joint project between Google and the Russian Railways company allows you to see many beautiful places in our Motherland, look at Baikal, Yenisei, and while traveling you can virtually “get off the train” to explore the city.
The project has many possibilities, it’s impossible to describe everything. Look at all the buttons and prompts.

When you enter the project page, a window with a video will open. The video will be uploaded continuously, all nine thousand kilometers. On the right you can select from the menu "The sound of wheels" or "Radio" or reading books. To start the video, you need to click the triangle in the center or left. Then press the triangle "Knock of wheels"
Below the video window is a map with the route. You can independently indicate the point where you can immediately move the train. Or select “What to see” in the right menu. If a city is selected, the prompt “Go out to see the city” will appear. By clicking on the hint, you can see photo, video or text materials about the city.
If you click the "YouTube" button, the viewing will be transferred to the "YouTube" service, where you can click the "Full screen" viewing button, however, there will be no sound.
You can return to the previous viewing mode using the "Esc" key on your keyboard.

The first mountain is Huaynu Picchu, and the second is Machu Picchu, which is much less visited by tourists. To climb to its top, you need to overcome a height difference of approximately 500 m. The path is a stone path, which consists of 1,700 steps and the usual ascent to it takes 1.5 hours. The view of the city from the top is amazing!

Christ the Redeemer Statue, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
(click on the link or picture below - the panorama will open in a new window)

Rio de Janeiro has its own symbol - this is the statue of Christ the Redeemer. On the 700-meter high Corcovado Mountain stands a gigantic figure of Christ with his arms outstretched over the city, as if blessing this land. Every year, almost 2 million tourists and local residents climb to the top of the mountain to take photos in front of the monument “for good luck.” The exact dimensions of the Christ the Redeemer monument in Rio are: height - 38 meters, including the pedestal - 8 meters; weight - 1145 tons, arm span - 30 meters. It is generally accepted that the idea of its creation arose in 1922, when the 100th anniversary of Brazilian independence was celebrated. However, in fact, the history of the statue goes back further...

“Paris is a holiday that is always with you.” This is what the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway said, and probably every person can subscribe to these words - no matter whether he has been there or not. Paris is a symbol of romance and the cradle of European culture.

Dubai traces its history back to the 7th century, but few people associate this largest city in the United Arab Emirates with antiquity. Its most capacious characteristic is “City of the Future”: after all, perhaps nowhere on the planet are so many incredible architectural structures concentrated, ultra-modern and even ahead of their time.

The Church of the Intercession on the Nerl (1165) near the village of Bogolyubovo is the greatest monument of Russian architecture. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site called “White Stone Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal”. This outstanding landmark of Russia is built on a man-made hill at the confluence of the Nerl and Klyazma rivers. The floods of the river are resisted by the foundation of a special structure, going five meters deep into the hill. It is surprising that the temple was erected in just a year - in the life of Andrei Bogolyubsky it is stated: “you completed this church in one summer and made a monastery for monastics with it.” From the chronicle it follows that the temple is associated with the victorious campaign of the Vladimir people against the Bulgars and the death of the son of Prince Andrei, Prince Izyaslav. The temple has miraculously survived to this day.

For a virtual trip, you only need to download the program and install it on your computer. Virtual travel is gaining popularity.

Before we had time to recover from the enthusiastic shock of viewing any point on the globe from a satellite, Google again pleasantly surprises us with the opportunity virtual travel around the world.

Let me remind you that using the program you can view any corner of our home planet.

The virtual globe is compiled from high-quality, high-resolution images. For a virtual trip, you only need to download the program and install it on your computer. I would like to note that its size currently does not exceed half a megabyte.

Recently a new, no less interesting Google project called . It allows you to view the terrain of cities and countries no longer from above, as was the case when using satellite images, but directly as a traveler.

A seamless panoramic picture was created based on images received from Googlemobile. The car, equipped with the latest photographic equipment, drove around accessible places and photographed everything that came into view. Google Street View has already created a lot of buzz in the US. Wives began to look for incriminating evidence on their husbands there and often found either his car near the house of the alleged mistress, or the husband himself leaving a strip club.

Using the service is very simple. Use your mouse to grab the little man on the left and place him at any point that interests you. Areas available for viewing are indicated in blue. The Googlemobile has traveled all over America and Europe, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about our vast expanses. Available for viewing in full screen mode.

In general, the service is very, very interesting. Now you can see cities, museums, or simply beautiful landscapes without buying a ticket.

I would like to note that the wide opportunities even disappointed me a little: I thought that Americans lived like in a fairy tale. In fact, it turned out that in some small towns life there is not even good. One has only to “ride” through small settlements and see everything, so to speak, from the inside.
