The first pyramid in human history. Why and how pyramids were built in ancient Egypt. What is encrypted in the pyramids

The rise of Egyptian civilization occurred approximately 5 thousand years ago and lasted for three thousand years. At this time, the first pyramids appeared, at first imperfect, and then very skillful. In the ancient world they were considered one of the seven wonders of the world. The Egyptian pyramids keep their mysteries to this day. Interesting facts about them are collected in this article.

Why were the pyramids created?

The Lord, wanting to show his greatness and power, built a majestic creation in memory of himself. He filled individual rooms and the burial chamber with precious utensils that were supposed to serve him after death.

History of the creation of the pyramids

Mastaba was the name of the king's first tomb. Low rectangular buildings were built from clay bricks. The burial itself was underground. This is how the first Egyptian pyramids were created. We have selected interesting facts for children below.

The first “house of eternity” was built by the architect Imhotep for Pharaoh Djoser. He placed several mastabas one on top of the other. The largest was the base, then the mastabas became smaller.

This is how the world's first step pyramid was built, the top of which reaches into the sky. It was a very impressive and monumental structure. They liked it, and soon the kings began to build houses for themselves. afterlife- Egyptian pyramids. Interesting facts about the world's first pyramid are as follows:

  • A wall is built around it, which is 10 meters high. It has 15 inputs. Only one of them is real.
  • On the outside, its walls are made of limestone, which has weathered and become uneven over 4.5 thousand years.

  • Inside there are shafts and branched corridors that are easy to get confused in. Of them they end up in one room or another, and there are more than four hundred of them. In these premises the priests performed religious ceremonies. The corridors are very narrow and low. They walk on them, bending their back. This is done so that only the body of the deceased can be carried. The first eleven shafts are very smooth, with right angles. All others are created more primitively.
  • The top of the pyramid is directed towards the North Star.

The rituals of the priests that we know about seem strange to us. Their witnesses are the Egyptian pyramids. Interesting facts about them can be collected endlessly. Here, for example, is what we know about the burial of Djoser.

Thanks to its triangular shape, its head is directed towards the heavens. Therefore, the soul of the pharaoh easily soared to the gods. But first, his body floated along the river of the underworld in a boat in search of his soul. When the priests believed that the soul had ascended to heaven, they returned the heart to the dead body of the ruler, then opened his eyes and mouth so that in the afterlife he could see everything and conduct conversations. After this they began the sacrificial feast. Oils were poured onto the mummy, thin bandages and tiaras were applied. At this point the ritual ended, and the pharaoh was considered resurrected.

Information for schoolchildren

IN Ancient world there were Seven Wonders of the World. They reflected cultures different nations. Among them, ancient people included the pyramids of Egypt. There was even a statement that everyone is afraid of time, but it itself is afraid of the pyramids. It's true - the other wonders did not survive, only the pyramids survived. People have always been interested in what these huge structures hide. They looked for treasures in them, and a lot was looted, despite the fact that systems of traps completely permeated the Egyptian pyramids. Interesting facts about them can be found in numerous books. Children's libraries are rich in them. We will bring Interesting Facts about Egyptian pyramids for schoolchildren:

  • Pyramids do not cast shadows if the sun is high. On the day of the winter solstice, the longest shadow falls on the earth. Using it you can measure the height of the pyramid without instruments.
  • Three of them were placed by ancient astronomers and builders in the same way as the belt of the constellation Orion. Today, the stars have shifted a little, and the pyramids do not stand perfectly level under the stars. This situation was not accidental. Orion was united in the minds of the Egyptians with the god Osiris. He was the ruler of the underworld and reigned over the rebirth of life: pharaohs must live forever.

  • Pyramids are not only found in North Africa. They are found in South and Central America, India and Mexico, Ethiopia and Cambodia, and Somalia. This leads some scientists to think that there was a single civilization in ancient times.

Giant on the Nile

The exact number of pyramids is difficult to determine. There are about seventy or eighty of them. They lined up on a rocky plateau that separates the valley of the life-giving Nile from the desert, at a distance of one hundred kilometers from Cairo to Illauhan. Almost all of them, with the exception of two, have a geometrically regular shape. We have already mentioned one of them - stepped, the other is located in Dashur and has a diamond shape. But the rest of the pyramids are as similar to each other as two peas in a pod. They differ only in size. The Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) is the largest.

If you describe it in numbers, it will awaken your imagination. Its volume is 2,525,000 cubic meters and its area is 54,000 square meters. Such a site can accommodate more than 1,000 two-room apartments. The royal palaces of Europe are smaller than it: Versailles in Paris and Buckingham in England, Escorial in Madrid and Winter Palace In Petersburg. The pyramid is taller than the dome over St. Peter's in Rome, St. Paul's in London, Notre Dame in Paris, St. Vita in Prague. If it were empty inside, it would fit a tower for a space rocket and its launch pad. Aren't these interesting facts about the Egyptian pyramids?

Guardians of Eternity

In Ancient Egypt, the works of architects and builders, who were supposed to glorify the earthly rulers, towered above all the temples dedicated to the gods. In architecture, perhaps, there are no more powerful and more laconic structures than the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Mikerin. These stone “crystals” boldly triumph over the unknowable and the mystery of death. Here are the most interesting facts about the Egyptian pyramids:

  • The angle of inclination of the stacked blocks is not too steep. It is only 6 degrees higher than 45°.
  • The four sides of the three main pyramids are strictly oriented to the north, south, west and east.
  • If five nine-story buildings are stacked on top of each other, we will get the approximate maximum height of the buildings.
  • On average, each block weighs 2500 kg, but there are also those whose weight exceeds the average by 32 times, which is approximately eighty tons.
  • The stones fit tightly together without mortar. Their pressure is such that it is impossible to squeeze even a piece of paper between them.

  • The road that led to the pyramid from the quarry took about ten years to build, and the pyramid itself took about twenty. Therefore, the pharaohs began construction of the tomb from their youth.

Tutankhamun's tomb

In 1922, English researchers found the tomb of the young ruler, almost untouched by thieves, in the area of former Thebes.

Immediately, exciting facts about the Egyptian pyramids began to appear, or rather, about a new sensational one:

  • Tutankhamun died at age 19.
  • The causes of death have not yet been established: illness, murder, fall from a chariot.
  • Treasures were found in the pyramid: a golden chariot and throne, lamps, caskets, vases, writing utensils, gold jewelry, gems, ships. On them the ruler was supposed to sail to the afterlife. Gold masks on three coffins and on a mummy.

Mysterious deaths

The excavations took five years, and all this time their participants gradually died. The list of mysterious facts about the Egyptian pyramids includes the “curse of the tomb.” Suggestions have been made about the presence of radioactive elements, poisons, and harmful fungi in it. Here is the list of the dead:

  • Lord Carnarvon died in 1923.
  • Then Douglas-Reid, who performed the x-rays.
  • A. K. Mace, who opened the burial chamber with Lord Carnarvon, dies.
  • Colonel Aubrey Herbert, Lord Carnarvon's brother, has died.
  • The wife of an Egyptian prince kills her husband right at the excavation site.
  • In 1928, deaths continued. First, archaeologist Carter's secretary dies, then his father is thrown out of a window in 1930.
  • That same year, Carnarvon's half-brother commits suicide.

Such tragedies, which have not been revealed to this day, ended the work on the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Egyptian pyramids- tombs of Egyptian pharaohs. The largest of them - the pyramids of Cheops, Khafre and Mikerin in El Giza in ancient times were considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The construction of the pyramid, in which the Greeks and Romans already saw a monument to the unprecedented pride of kings and cruelty that doomed the entire Egyptian people to meaningless construction, was the most important cult act and was supposed to express, apparently, the mystical identity of the country and its ruler.

The people worked on the construction of the pyramids during the part of the year free from agricultural work. Texts have been preserved that testify to the attention and care that the kings themselves (though of later times) paid to the construction of their tomb and its builders. It is also known about the special cult honors that were given to the pyramid itself.

Description of the most famous pyramids (briefly)

The Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu), the Great Pyramid, is the face of the Egyptian pyramids and the largest structure of antiquity, giving rise to many secrets and legends around itself. It took two decades to build the pyramid. Construction time IV Dynasty 2600 BC. e. Located in Giza. The original height is 146.60 m, today it is 138.75 m. The dimensions of the base are 230 m. It was the largest building in the world for more than 4,000 years.

The pyramid has not one, but three burial chambers. One of them is located below ground level, and two are located above the base line. Intertwining corridors lead to the burial chambers. Along them it is possible to go to the pharaoh's chamber, to the chamber of his wife and to the lower hall. The Pharaoh's Chamber is a chamber made of pink granite, measuring 10 x 5 m. It contains a granite sarcophagus without a lid. Not a single report from researchers mentioned the mummies found, so it is unknown whether Cheops was buried here. It should be noted that the mummy of Cheops was not found in other tombs.

After the Great Chinese wall it is the largest structure that has ever been erected in the entire history of mankind.

The second most important is the pyramid of Khafre, the son of Cheops. She was found while carrying out archaeological excavations in 1860. The tomb of this ancient Egyptian king is “guarded” by the famous Sphinx, which looks like a lion lying on the sand, whose face may have been given the features of Khafre himself. Near Khafre's pyramid there is a separate pyramid for his wife, a temple, a port and an enclosure wall.

The estimated time of construction of the pyramid is the middle of the 26th century BC. e. It was built on a 10-meter plateau, so it seems higher than the Cheops pyramid, but this is not entirely true. The original height is 143.9 m, today it is 136.4 m. The dimensions of the base are 210.5 m. The pyramid was decorated with a pink granite pyramidion, which is now lost. We have no information as to whether the granite was decorated with limestone, plaster or gold.

The third great pyramid is the Pyramid of Mikerin (also known as the “Pyramid of Menkaure”). It is the smallest of them, and was built later than the others. Construction time IV dynasty (approximately 2540-2520 BC) Initial height - 65.55 m, today - 62 m. Dimensions of the base - 102.2 × 104.6 m. According to eyewitnesses, the pyramid Menkaure was the most beautiful of all the pyramids. Sculptures from the reign of Menkaure were characterized by highest quality artistic performance. In addition, the pyramid of Mikerinus marked the end of the era of large pyramids. All subsequent buildings were small in size.

The Step Pyramid of Djoser is considered one of the largest in Egypt. Construction time: III Dynasty (approximately 2650 BC). It is located in the village of Saqqara, and was erected for Pharaoh Djoser by Imhotep himself. The original height is 62.5 m, today it is 62 m. The size of the pyramid is 125 m × 115 m. This is the first pyramid of Egypt, and it is very well preserved.

Initially, Imhotep intended to create an ordinary stone mastaba (rectangular tomb). Only during the construction process did it turn into the first step pyramid. The meaning of the steps is believed to be symbolic - along them the deceased pharaoh was supposed to ascend to heaven.

The burial complex included chapels, courtyards, and storage facilities. The six-step pyramid itself has a rectangular base, not a square one. Inside the structure there are 12 burial chambers, where Djoser himself and members of his family could probably have been buried. The pharaoh's mummy was not discovered during excavations. The entire territory of the complex of 15 hectares was surrounded by a 10-meter stone wall. Now part of the wall and other buildings have been restored.

The most unusual pyramid in shape is in Medum. Construction time III Dynasty (approximately 2680 BC) Located 100 km south of the capital of Egypt, it was built for Pharaoh Huni, the last ruler of the III Dynasty, but it was completed by his son Sneferu. It originally had eight steps, but today only the last three are visible. The original height is 93.5 m, today it is 65 m. The base is 144 m.

Its unusual forms were first reported by Al-Makrizi in the 15th century. The pyramid had a stepped shape. In his essays, Al-Makrizi described a pyramid consisting of 5 steps, and that it had serious damage from erosion and from the removal of stonework by local residents.

Pink Pyramid or Northern Pyramid. Construction time IV dynasty (from approximately 2640 to 2620 BC) Initial height - 109.5 m, today - 104 m. Base - 220 m. Northern pyramid of Pharaoh Snefru in Dahshur, at the time of its construction in the 26th century BC. e. was the tallest building in the world. It is now the third tallest pyramid in Egypt, after Khufu and Khafre at Giza.

It is unusual in that it has a pink tint due to the special stone that was used during construction. Researchers believe that this pyramid was also built by the above-mentioned Pharaoh Snofru. The Pink Pyramid was not always pink. Previously, its walls were covered with white limestone. However, in our time, white limestone is almost completely absent, since in the Middle Ages a significant part of it was removed for the construction of houses in Cairo, as a result of which pinkish limestone was exposed.

Not far from the Pink one is the Broken (“cut” or “diamond-shaped”) pyramid. Construction time IV Dynasty (XXVI century BC) Initial height - 104.7 m, today - 101.1 m. Base - 189.4 m. It got its name because of its irregular shape. It was built in three stages, at each of which it was given different angles of inclination. It differs from other Egyptian pyramids in that the pyramid not only has an entrance on the north side, which was the standard, but also a second entrance, which is open higher, on the west side.

Explaining the non-standard shape of the pyramid, German Egyptologist Ludwig Borchardt (1863-1938) put forward his “accretion theory.” According to it, the king died suddenly and the angle of inclination of the pyramid's faces was sharply changed from 54° 31 minutes. up to 43° 21 min., for quick completion of work.

What is known about the Egyptian pyramids

Building the pyramids

Slabs weighing at least 2.5 tons, from which the pyramids were built, were cut out of stone in a nearby quarry and transported to the construction site using ramps, blocks and levers. There is an opinion, considered marginal by the scientific community, that concrete was used in the construction of the pyramid, that is, the slabs were made directly at the construction site. At the tops of the pyramids, traces of wooden forms have been preserved to this day, erased at the base by numerous sandstorms. To prevent the walls of the pyramids from cracking as a result of the compression-expansion process, the individual blocks were separated by thin layers of mortar. The slope of the external walls is exactly 45°. The surface was covered with blocks of polished white limestone. After the fall, the limestone was stretched out by local residents for their needs.

What is encrypted in the pyramids

What is the secret of the Egyptian pyramids? Why, for almost 5 millennia, have they never ceased to excite the imagination of everyone who has seen them? All sorts of assumptions have been made about this: they were built by aliens, they contain encrypted astronomical and magical knowledge of the ancient priests, they contain a prediction of the future. Digital magic was so popular that by measuring it in all directions and adding up the results, amateurs could predict anything.

Why were the pyramids built?

Even the debate about whether the pyramids are actually the tombs of the pharaohs continues today. Some researchers believe that these are temples where the sun god Amun-Ra was initiated into the cult of the sun god, others - that the pyramid is a huge scientific laboratory of the ancients. Some argue that the pyramids are huge natural generators of earthly energy, in which the pharaohs were “charged” with this energy for a long time, even rejuvenated and prepared for state activities. And then they were buried near the pyramids, in small rooms, perhaps near funeral temples.

The pyramids delighted many of the greats of this world: , Cleopatra, . The latter, in order to inspire his grenadiers during the Egyptian campaign, first exclaimed: “The pyramids are looking at you,” and then instantly calculated in his mind that from the two and a half million stone blocks of the Cheops pyramid it would be possible to build a wall around France three meters high.

Interesting facts about Egyptian pyramids

All Egyptian pyramids were built on west bank the Nile River, which is the place of sunset and was associated with the kingdom of the dead in Egyptian mythology.

The edges of the pyramids are curved by one meter so that they can accumulate solar energy. Due to this, the pyramids could reach thousands of degrees and emit an incomprehensible hum from such heat.

Despite the intense heat that reigns around the pyramids, the temperature inside them actually remains relatively constant, hovering around 20°C.

Egyptian pyramids also have this feature. The stone blocks are arranged in such a way that there are no gaps between them; even the thinnest blade will not fit through there.

The Great Pyramid consists of 2.3 million blocks that are perfectly aligned and fit together. The blocks weigh from 2 to 30 tons, and some of them even reach a weight of more than 50 tons.

Although many people associate pyramids with hieroglyphs, no inscriptions or hieroglyphs have been found in the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Estimates of the number of workers involved in the construction of the pyramids vary greatly, however, it is quite possible that at least 100 thousand people built them.

Three great pyramids on the Giza plateau, the “Orion Belt” from the constellation Orion is copied on Earth. The Pyramid of Cheops and the similar-sized Pyramid of Khafre occupy the places of the two brightest stars in Orion's belt, Al-Nitak and Al-Nilam, and the smaller pyramid of Menkaure is offset from the axis of the two neighboring ones, just like the third and smallest star in the belt - Mintaka.

Structures similar to the Egyptian pyramids can also be found in Sudan, where the tradition was later picked up.

Each side of the pyramid is located in the direction of one side of the world.

It was calculated that large necropolises with that level of technology should have been built in no less than a century. How, for example, was the Cheops pyramid built in just 20 years?

In the 12th century, an attempt was made to destroy the pyramids of Giza. Al-Aziz, the Kurdish ruler and second sultan of the Ayyubid dynasty, tried to demolish them, but he was forced to retreat as the task was too large-scale. And yet, he was able to damage the Pyramid of Mykerinus, where his attempts left a vertical gaping hole in its northern slope.

Pyramids are one of the numerous evidences in favor of the existence in those ancient times of a certain developed civilization. Meanwhile, that era fits into the time frame of the existence of the legendary Atlantis, although no one undertakes to claim that the civilization that built the early pyramids was in fact the civilization of the Atlanteans.

Tourist information

The Great Pyramid complex of Giza is open to the public from 8:00 to 17:00 every day, except during the winter months (opening hours until 16:30) and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, when access closes at 15:00.

Some travelers believe that if the pyramids are under open air and are not a museum in the literal sense of the word, then here you can behave freely, climb these structures. It should be remembered: doing this is strictly prohibited - in the interests of your own safety!

Before entering the pyramids, you need to objectively assess your psychological state and physical health. For those who are afraid of closed spaces (claustrophobia), it is better to skip this part of the tour. Due to the fact that the inside of the tombs is usually dry, hot and a little dusty, asthmatics, hypertensive patients and those suffering from other diseases of the cardiovascular and nervous system are not recommended to enter here.

How much can an excursion to the area of the Egyptian pyramids cost a tourist? Cost has several components. Admission ticket it will cost you 60 Egyptian pounds, which is approximately 8 euros. Would you like to visit the Pyramid of Cheops? For this you will have to pay 100 pounds or 13 euros. Seeing the inside of Khafre's Pyramid is largely cheaper at £20 or €2.60.

You will have to pay separately to visit the museum Solar boat, which is located south of the Cheops pyramid (40 pounds or 5 euros). Photography is allowed in the pyramid area, but you will have to pay 1 euro for the right to take photographs. Visiting other pyramids on the territory of Giza - for example, the mother and wife of Pharaoh Khafre - is not paid.

The ancient Egyptian pyramids have always attracted people with their gigantic size and are unique in appearance, but especially in the secrets hidden in them.

Built as tombs for the rulers - pharaohs of ancient kingdoms, in the period from 2800 to 2250. BC, they are one of the most voluminous and technically advanced structures at that time built by man. Nowadays, the pyramids are the most popular excursion sites in Egypt.

Pyramids are pyramidal stone structures that have survived to this day almost original form, despite the considerable age of these giants, the destructive power of nature and the vandalism of some local residents. The largest pyramid is considered to be the tomb of the ruler Cheops, built in Giza and included in the “Seven Wonders of the World”.

All questions concerning the technology of building pyramids, their internal filling and decoration, the origin and skill of the builders constantly haunt scientists from all over the world. Studying interior spaces pyramids, preserved belongings of rulers and their entourage, scientists are constantly making amazing discoveries and finds that shed light on the life of ancient people, their way of thinking, religion and science.

Countless expeditions were organized to the area of Cairo and Giza, where the largest number of necropolises are located, but final answers to all these questions were never received.

How could ancient people, without special equipment, extract huge blocks for construction from rocks, process them, deliver them to the construction site and raise them to the required height? Who were the ancient builders and where did they gain the skills and experience of performing such work in such a short and short time? Why or why are the edges of the pyramids strictly oriented to the cardinal points? Are constructions of this scale the work of human hands or were some outside forces involved in this process? Based on what ideas and guesses during construction was this particular polyhedron shape chosen? For what purposes and rituals were the interior spaces and some objects of the pyramids intended?

Until now, scientists and engineers, treasure hunters and simply adventure lovers, pay close attention to this original and unique historical heritage of the ancient Egyptians. And it is not yet known how many secrets and discoveries are still hidden behind the thickness of the walls of the pyramids.

Message 2

The pyramids built in Ancient Egypt are the greatest architectural monuments in the entire world. They are recognized as part of the seven wonders of the world - the Pyramids of Cheops and Giza. They are magnificent structures, built entirely of stone, and in the shape of pyramids. In the past they were used as burial places for pharaohs.

“Pyramid” was translated from the original language and meant “polyhedron”. Some historians say that the prototype of the pyramids was wheat stacked in stacks. Others say that funeral cakes of a similar shape were baked in Egypt and the name comes from the name of this funeral cake. Over the entire period, about 118 majestic structures of various sizes were built.

  1. Many believe that the crypts of the pharaohs were located right inside the pyramids, but in fact they were left in a special place called the Valley of the Kings.
  2. One of the historical theories says that each of the majestic pyramids was built using the principle of the lever, which they discovered and then successfully used in practice. At the same time, the Egyptians managed to build the Cheops pyramid in two decades, although according to calculations, the construction time should have taken about a century and a half.
  3. All the stones are arranged in such a way that even a human hair cannot pass between them. This fact amazes historians and architects, who cannot restore this accuracy even with the help of modern technology.
  4. Each of the sides of the pyramids is located clearly according to the cardinal directions. Each face of the pyramid is curved exactly one meter, this allows the sun to focus on each face.
  5. The pyramid walls depict how the Egyptians built the pyramids, step by step.
  6. The height of the largest pyramid is 146.6 meters, and the calculated weight is 6 million tons. And it occupies an area of about 5 hectares of land.

The construction of the Egyptian pyramids still remains a mystery; modern architects and scientists cannot understand how ancient people, without the use of advanced technologies, were able to build such masterpieces of architecture that could survive thousands of years and preserve their original appearance.

Report on the topic Pyramids of Ancient Egypt

There are many secrets and mysteries associated with nature in our world. One of these great mysteries is the pyramids. Namely, the pyramids of ancient Egypt.

About 100 pyramids have survived to this day. One of the pyramids is included in the wonders of the world - the Pyramid of Cheops.

Tourists really enjoy visiting these great structures. As we all know, the pyramids were built by the pharaohs in order to bury various rulers there, along with their belongings and jewelry.

Pyramids were built from stone blocks, which people nowadays drag away to build their houses. These blocks were made from pieces of rock. Even a blade could not fit between them, they tried so hard to make them perfect.

Inside, all the pyramids were similar, since they had the same goal. There was always a hall where the sarcophagus stood, the entrance was high from the ground, the corridors leading to the burial could be very cramped and narrow.

There are many questions about why there was this particular shape, why the angles point to the cardinal directions, how people could raise these blocks so high and, in general, how they were built, these pyramids. And most importantly, what kind of people built such huge heavy structures?

Some people think about the work of slaves, others about military forces. Some attribute the help of the Gods or aliens. In any case, many believe that the effort and time that was spent on their construction is not worth it, that in their essence the pyramids are meaningless, or there is a meaning, but we do not understand it. And yet, this is the only wonder of the world that has survived to our time.

Many people talk about the mysticism of these places. All sorts of excavations took place in many pyramids, and after that these people died. A few years later, those people who discovered the pyramid died, unfortunately, this is a fact. Many researchers say that those who were buried there are not there at all. Many mummies of pharaohs were simply not found. If we talk about looters, then why did all the jewelry remain? This is a mystery difficult for our humanity.

Scientists claim that usually the construction time for a pyramid should take at least 100 years, but somehow mysteriously the pyramid was built in about 25 years.

The most interesting thing is that burials were usually built long before the death of these same pharaohs. That's how it was accepted. Of course, tombs are still often robbed by so-called treasure lovers, so even then this was provided for by making various traps.

Not far from these pyramids there is a statue of a sphinx, as if guarding the entrance to the pyramids. There used to be a legend that as soon as this sphinx was covered with sand, the one who dug it up would become a pharaoh. Of course, scientists did not find this confirmation.

This is a very interesting and mysterious topic that can be revealed many years later.

Introduction

Almost five thousand years ago, the Egyptian pharaoh Djoser and his brilliant architect Imhotep decided to erect a structure that the world had never seen before - a colossal mountain of stone, built according to strict mathematical calculations, so strong that it would stand until the end of time. The construction of this world's first pyramid lasted more than two decades, and the number of workers - prisoners of war, slaves, volunteer helpers - numbered in the tens of thousands. Over the next two centuries, the Egyptian pharaohs, following the example of the first pyramid builders, erected tombs for themselves. During this relatively short period of time, the great pyramids were built, which to this day amaze and delight crowds of people. But the construction of these grandiose man-made mountains stopped as suddenly as it began. The pharaohs, as before, were content with more modest tombs.

Despite all the apparent inviolability of the pyramids, they, ironically, suffered not so much from the forces of nature as from the hands of man. The ancient Egyptians were the first vandals: they robbed their burial chambers and mercilessly tore off their limestone shell, using the material for other buildings, etc. this barbarism continued in later times.

The Father of History,” Herodotus called the Egyptian pyramids “the first wonder of the world.” The past millennia not only confirm this name, but also increasingly force researchers to consider this “miracle” the greatest and most mysterious of all known to mankind.

Pyramids discovered in different parts of the world show that they are not only the prerogative of the Egyptians. The size, age and good preservation of the pyramids are simply amazing. Perhaps such architecture embodied knowledge unknown to us and had some special sacred meaning... One thing can be said for sure: the pyramids of the world defy time and traditional science.

The purpose of the work is to study the pyramids as an object of world historical cultural heritage.

· study the history of the pyramids;

· consider the location of the pyramids on the ground;

· consider interesting facts and secrets of the pyramids;

· consider the astronomical and mathematical mysteries of the pyramids.

Pyramids of the world

History of the pyramids

pyramid civilization astronomical

Ancient Egypt is the oldest civilization in the world, which still remains largely mysterious and full of secrets, despite all the technical achievements of modern science. And one of these secrets remains the history of the creation of the pyramids. Pyramids are majestic structures, a symbol of Ancient Egypt. The rulers of ancient Egypt, the pharaohs, needed to stand out among other mortals and confirm their divine origin, therefore, after death, their mummies had to be located not in the usual scale - tombs of a traditional shape in the form of a truncated pyramid, but in more powerful structures - huge stone tombs of a pyramidal shape.

There are a number of versions about the emergence of the pyramids. The official, or so to speak, classical version says that the construction of the pyramids in Ancient Egypt began 4000 years before the beginning of our era. The very first pyramid was built by the ancient architect Imhotep for the dynasty of pharaohs Djoser in Saqqara. It is still perfectly preserved and is located 20 km from modern Cairo. This is a stepped pyramid with a rhombus at the base. Later, Imhotep, who did not come from a royal dynasty, received divine status for the construction of such a magnificent structure. History has preserved the name of this man to this day, which in itself is extraordinary. Among the so-called “seven wonders of the world” known in ancient times, which captured the imagination of their contemporaries, is another pyramid of Ancient Egypt. This is the Cheops pyramid. Unlike other wonders of the world, it exists to this day and still produces a grandiose impression of majesty. Its height is 146 m and stands on a par with the tallest buildings of our time. The Cheops pyramid is made of 2.3 million limestone blocks, which seem to have not been touched by time.

The construction of these magnificent structures was carried out by thousands of slaves. They dragged huge stone blocks processed with copper tools along the ramps. In some pyramids, the blocks reached a weight of two hundred tons, and for modern construction specialists it is incomprehensible how the ancient Egyptians lifted such blocks to the tops of the pyramids. According to the Greek historian Herodotus, they used mechanical lifts, although even now in the 21st century there are not many designs of overhead cranes on the globe that are able to move a load of such weight. Therefore, the most fantastic theories of the appearance of pyramids in Ancient Egypt arose and are emerging. The perfect processing of stone blocks, some of which have not just a smooth, but even a mirror-like surface, suggests that during their construction special tools were used, which simply could not have been available in the Bronze Age. Hence the very common version about space aliens who are the true builders of the ancient Egyptian pyramids.

Another common version of the construction of the pyramids is that they were erected by Atlanteans, giant creatures from the island of Plato. The authenticity of this hypothesis is confirmed by traces of erosion on the lower blocks of the pyramids, which may appear from a long stay of the structure in water. In addition, they even find fossils of shells that are much older than the usual age of the Egyptian pyramids. There are other versions, which only adds mystery to these grandiose symbols of Ancient Egypt, and, at the same time, ongoing curiosity and admiration for them among our contemporaries.

Egyptian pyramids - well, it would seem, what new can be said here? Everything has already been explored and re-explored, all the mysteries have been solved, the secrets have been revealed. However, these buildings still excite the minds of researchers and everyone interested in ancient Egypt. And despite the fact that there are a lot of pyramids in Egypt, first of all, of course, the image of the pyramids of Giza, not far from present-day Cairo, pops up in everyone’s mind. Well, let's look at the pyramids from a seditious point of view. Relatively recently, scientists discovered that the Cheops pyramid contains not only ventilation shafts, but also secret rooms that are impossible for humans to get to. Firstly, the entire Cheops pyramid, whose height is 138 meters, is penetrated by 4 narrow inclined passages, with a cross-section of 20 centimeters, which are considered to be ventilation. Secondly, it has been proven that two shafts from the pharaoh’s tomb go outside. Why would there be ventilation in a sealed tomb, not to mention the fact that inclined shafts significantly complicated the construction of such a large-scale structure. Thirdly, two shafts, which, it would seem, should be ventilation for the tomb of the pharaoh’s wife, not only do not go to the surface, they did not even reach the tomb itself, that is, they were sealed passages. Since the mines are quite narrow and stretch quite far, shedding at least some light on the question “what is there?” succeeded only in 1990. The robot, specially assembled for this task, managed to crawl along the mine as much as 63 meters and only discovered an obstacle in front of it - a stone door with two metal pins - handles, which, as you already guessed, the robot could not open. In 2002, another robot got to the door, drilled a hole in it, stuck a camera into it and saw that behind the door at a distance of 20 centimeters was another door, exactly the same. The drill was no longer enough to reach it. After another 9 years, they finally built a robot called Jedi, which had more confident preparation for this kind of research. So the Jedi robot reached the same place as its predecessor and simply more accurately examined the small room between the two doors. On the floor there are some kind of hieroglyphs, the meaning of which is not yet clear. Also, a special moving camera on the robot turned around and showed the door from the back side; it is well polished and has decorative hinges. In other words, this is not a stone that would prevent debris from entering the shaft, this is a door that someone used. Perhaps he was pulling her by the loops with him? But how? But the strangest thing is that for some reason not all of the pictures taken by the robot are published. For example, it is unknown what was depicted on the ceiling. And why didn’t the robot penetrate the second wall? Moreover, for some reason, nine years later, the right wall of the secret room received two longitudinal scratches, and the upper wall - the ceiling - received a deeper cut, as if it had been pushed into. Please note that according to official data, none of the robots penetrated the chamber itself. Fortunately or not, practice shows that simply meditating is not enough for the brain to develop. Requires specialized exercises and training. The best solution in this matter is the online platform VIKIUM, which offers a whole range of special courses and simulators aimed at improving brain performance. Well, we go further and ask ourselves a difficult question - how old are the pyramids of Egypt? Science has not yet determined the exact date of their construction. Scientists in their definitions differ not even by centuries, but by millennia. According to the traditional version, the pyramids have already stood for 4.5 thousand years. 150 years ago, a so-called inventory stele was found in Giza, on which it was written that Cheops only ordered the restoration of the Sphinx, and not the construction of it. Also in the 90s, it was proven that the grooves on the body of the Sphinx are traces of rain erosion, however, according to official chronology, there were no rains in Egypt for at least 8,000 years. Well, the fact that there are medieval maps with deep rivers, cities, blooming Africa and Egypt, all this, of course, just seemed. The most interesting thing is that immediately after the publication of this fact, the Egyptian authorities organized an urgent restoration of the Sphinx. As a result, all traces of erosion disappeared. Simultaneously with the restoration of national museum The inventory stele was also removed. True, there is another dating. The astronomer is told that the pyramids copy the arrangement of stars in the constellation Orion, which was observed, attention, 12.5 thousand years ago. Great Pyramid and similar in size, the Pyramid of Khafre takes the place of the two brightest stars in Orion's belt, and the smaller pyramid of Minkaur is offset from the axis of the two neighboring ones just like the third and smallest star in the belt. But maybe all this great antiquity was created not so long ago, and not thousands of years have passed since then, but several hundred? Back in the 19th century, there was an assumption about the uniqueness of the Cheops pyramid, which is also called the Great Pyramid. Judge for yourself, when measuring the Cheops pyramid itself, it turned out that the perimeter of the pyramid, divided by double the height, gives the exact number Pi with an accuracy of one hundred thousandth. It is interesting that the sacred length measure of Egypt, that is, the pyramidal inch is one billionth of the Earth's orbit, covered in 24 hours. By a strange coincidence, the pyramidal inch is exactly equal to the English inch. Why do the English units exactly correspond to the “sacred” units of Ancient Egypt? Maybe because they existed at the same historical time? By the way, this is reminiscent of a bearded joke about two horse asses, look in the comments if you don’t know. But seriously, here’s some more food for thought: At the latitude of the Egyptian pyramids, 34 degrees, is the American city of Houston. The space flight control center, where the geodetic control center is also located. The famous Cape Canaveral is also located relatively close. So one minute of this latitude of 34 degrees is equal to approximately 1609 meters. And this value is widespread and is called the American mile. They also call it British, statutory. Usually, when they just say “mile,” that’s what they mean. At the latitude of Moscow, if we take approximately 55.5 degrees, based on the fact that in those days the accuracy was quite approximate, one minute of this latitude is 1054 meters. In Russian culture this value is called double verst. One verst is correspondingly equal to 526 meters. Thus, in those days, the 17th century, length measures for each latitude were determined separately and were different everywhere. Various versions of this system are now reaching us. For example, there is the Bavarian foot and the Munich foot, the differences between which are very small. The ratio of the Moscow standard inch 2.54 to the equatorial inch 4.46 is treated as 4/7. This value - 4/7 or 7/4 was accepted as a constant, it was legalized in the 17th century and, in accordance with this measure, the size of the inch was recalculated. And this version of 4.445 cm was finally accepted. But let's return to Egypt. The diagonal of the pyramid gives its absolutely exact direction along the meridian. Moreover, the accuracy of this direction to the theoretical north pole was greater than that achieved during the construction of the Paris Observatory. And there are many other similar oddities. Well, the most interesting thing is the technology of construction of the Great Pyramid. Scientists continue to insist that the Egyptian pyramids were built from monolithic stone blocks. The absurd picture that thousands and thousands of slaves worked in quarries, cutting down monoliths weighing from 2.5 to 15 tons, and then pulling them on sleds along the sand to the construction site is still generally accepted. And in the end, with the help of ingenious machines, or with the help of giant inclined embankments, 15-ton blocks were dragged to a height of many tens of meters. True, some blocks are five times heavier, reaching seventy tons. Many years ago, Joseph Davidovich, a professor at the University of Bern, put forward a hypothesis that the pyramids could be made of concrete. As evidence, he cited the results of his chemical experiments and visual studies of ancient artifacts. Pay attention to the slab, the surface of the block is covered with a fine mesh, this is a trace of the mat that was placed on the inner surface of the formwork box. The concrete version has been developed in detail and currently explains almost all the mysteries in pyramid building technologies. The absence of gaps between the blocks, numerous traces of formwork, the nature of the filling of the blocks, smudges, embedded elements, grouting of concrete that has not yet completely cooled down and much, much more... Almost all load-bearing elements of the structures of ancient Egypt are made of sedimentary rocks. This material was ground and poured into the formwork as part of the mortar. The use of partially fired gypsum is most likely a consequence of the fact that Egypt experiences extremely high temperatures and a complete lack of precipitation in the summer. Sometimes there is no rain for several years. It is likely that no additional technical means were used to dehydrate the gypsum and the material was dehydrated naturally when heated under the sun's rays. As for the use of additives, there were probably some, because... To carry out construction work, it is necessary to increase the hardening time of the material. One of these technologies is that adding whey to a gypsum solution increases the hardening time, and it is possible that something similar was used in Egypt. In ancient Egypt, artificial granite made from natural stone chips was widely used. Artificial granite was used not only for casting the entire structural element, but also as a decorative, protective coating for various structural and decorative elements of buildings cast from sedimentary rocks, as well as for decorating interiors as coatings. Of course, in addition to the above, stone processing was also used. Well, about the fact that the Giza plateau is well known for its massive underground system, which consists of both artificial tunnels and chambers, and underground rivers and passages, which have been mapped using ground-penetrating radar since 1978, we will tell you sometime in another time. See you on our channel.

Predecessors of the pyramids

Later pyramids

With the end of the V Dynasty, the construction of the pyramids Egyptian pharaohs didn't stop. The pyramids of the pharaohs of the V-VI dynasties have preserved for us the most ancient body of funerary texts, known as (Pyramid Texts). Pyramids were also built by the pharaohs of the 1st transition period (for example, Merikara) and the rulers of the 12th dynasty (the most famous belongs to Amenemhat III).

Later, the tradition of building pyramids was adopted by the rulers of the Meroitic kingdom.

So, until the time of King Rampsinitis, the priests further said, under good laws, Egypt achieved great prosperity. However, his successor Cheops plunged the country into disaster. First of all, he ordered the closure of all sanctuaries and prohibited sacrifices. Then he forced all the Egyptians to work for him. Thus, some were obliged to drag huge blocks of stones from quarries in the Arabian Mountains to the Nile (the stones were transported across the river on ships), while others were ordered to drag them further to the so-called Libyan Mountains. One hundred thousand people performed this work continuously, changing every three months. It took ten years for the exhausted people to build the road along which these stone blocks were dragged; the work, in my opinion, was almost as enormous as the construction of the pyramid itself. After all, the road was 5 furlongs long, and 10 orgies wide, in fact high place 8 heights, built of cut stones with figures carved on them. The construction of this road and underground chambers on the hill where the pyramids stand continued for ten years. In these chambers, Cheops built his tomb on the island, drawing a Nile canal to the mountain. The construction of the pyramid itself lasted 20 years. It is four-sided, each side is 8 inches wide.
