The largest airport in Italy is Fiumicino, which is located 30 kilometers from Rome and has five terminals. Most flights from Russia will take you to Fiumicino, since the second Ciampino airport is more designed for flights from low-cost airlines and flights within Europe.
Train
There are two ways to get to Rome from Fiumicino Airport by train: the train and the Leonardo Express high-speed train.Cost: 14 euros

Leonardo Express was created specifically for passengers who want to get to Rome from the airport, so it does not make stops along the way. This allows the high-speed train to reach Rome in just 30 minutes, while the regular train takes almost an hour.
In each terminal of Fiumicino Airport there are signs for trains - they can be easily recognized by the picture of the train. If you want to use Leonardo, you need to follow these signs. If, on the contrary, you are traveling from Rome to the airport, then your route should be to Termina Station, where the train stops on platforms 23 and 24.
A ticket for the Leonardo Express costs 14 euros, children under 12 years old travel free. You can, of course, buy tickets at ticket offices at the train station or at the airport station or in special terminals. By the way, terminals have practically replaced cashiers in Roman public transport, so we strongly advise you to learn how to use them. The terminals are available in English and a dozen others. The terminals themselves are located at the station and at the station and are marked with the word “Biglietti”, which, as you might guess, means “Tickets”. In a word, it will be intuitively clear to you where to go and where to pay. The only thing you may not be able to figure out on your own is that the ticket must be punched in a special machine on the platform, otherwise it will not be valid, and you will have to pay a considerable fine.

An alternative to the expensive high-speed Leonardo Express is an ordinary train, which runs on exactly the same tracks as Leonardo. Its cost is 8.9 euros, and the travel time is almost an hour, so, unlike a high-speed train, it makes many stops.
The process of purchasing a ticket is absolutely the same as in the previous case. The only difference is that you will need to enter the point from the edit and the destination into the terminal: “Stazione Aeroporto” and the name of the station to which it is more convenient for you to go. The fact is that by train you can only get to the railway stations of Rome - Tiburtina, Trastevere and Ostiense, but not to Termini central station.
Bus

The bus is another way to get from Fiumicino Airport to Rome. This method has both its disadvantages and advantages: the bus is the cheapest option of all, but due to traffic jams it is impossible to accurately predict the travel time; it can last as little as 40 minutes or as long as two hours. True, local traffic jams should not be compared with Russian ones, so on average you will get to the center of Rome by bus in about an hour.
All buses to Rome (and to other cities in Italy) are located in one place - to the right of the exit from the arrivals area, about fifty meters away. There are signs leading to their stops, so, again, you won’t get lost.
Tickets are purchased directly from drivers or from representatives of the carrier company, who “guard” the entrance to the bus and help with luggage. In addition, tickets for some buses are sold at Tabacchi stalls, including at the airport. The average price of a trip is 4-6 euros per person.
There are many carrier companies, their prices vary by a maximum of 1-2 euros, and they all go to the Termini central station. The largest are Cotral, Terra Vision, Sit Bus Shuttle, T.A.M and others. Cotral also carries passengers to the Cornelia metro station, Tiburtina and the Eur Magliana train station. The Shuttle bus is convenient because, in addition to Termini, it makes a stop near the Vatican, where the lion's share of hotels in Rome are located.
Buses depart every 5 minutes, less often at night, but nevertheless, night routes also exist. There is a free bus between the terminals, which departs every 15 minutes (from one in the morning to three, the bus is on call, call buttons are located at the stops).

From Fiumicino Airport to Rome, of course, you can also take a taxi. Expensive, but fast and right to the hotel door. In Rome, as in any other large metropolis, there are official and unofficial taxis. Unofficial drivers will persistently offer their services right in the arrival hall at the airport, and we do not recommend using their services, especially since their prices are no different from a legal taxi.
Legal taxis can be found at the exits of terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 of Fiumicino Airport. The cost of a trip to the center of Rome (or from it to the airport) ranges from 40-60 euros, depending on the time of day and the amount of luggage. We would not recommend using local companies whenever possible, as their low prices are fully justified by the poor quality of service and sometimes fraud.
It is better to book a car from home, especially if you have special requirements for the car, for example, the presence of a child seat, an automatic transmission (there is a big shortage of these in Italy), winter tires, or others. After all, when renting a car on the spot, you may encounter the fact that all suitable options will already be sorted out, since many people like to travel around Italy by car, which means they are quickly sorted out. Transfer from Fiumicino Airport to Rome

Flights from Fiumicino Airport to Roma Termini operate 7 days a week. Trains run from 6.23 am to 11.23 pm without weekends or holidays. Moreover, this message is active even on days of mass strikes.
Flights in the opposite direction - from Roma Termini to Fiumicino Airport - depart from platforms 23 and 24 of the main railway station of the Eternal City from 5.35 am to 22.35 pm.

How to get to Rome from Fiumicino Airport by bus? This could always be done, but for quite a long time this service was provided in the Eternal City rather “crookedly”. But quite recently the situation has changed dramatically.
Now the issue with buses has been worked out in detail, the schedule is tight, and routes to Rome are clearly presented. The main advantage of buses is the prices. If you purchase tickets in advance online, you can get to Rome from Fiumicino Airport by bus for only 11 € (as opposed to 14 € for the Leonardo Express).
Routes run from 5.35 am to 11 pm, travel time is approximately 55 minutes. In Rome, buses stop at the Termini train station on Via Marsala - otherwise, almost the same point as the Leonardo Express. In the opposite direction - from Termini to the Airport - the route operates from 4.40 to 21:50. However, the stop is located on Via Giolitti (also directly next to Termini station).
It is possible to buy tickets one way, and there and back. Buses run at an average interval of half an hour. If you buy a ticket for a specific time, but do not catch your bus, you can use the same ticket to travel on the next flight.
At Fiumicino Airport, the bus stop is located near Terminal No. 3, platform No. 7. You can easily find it by following the signs in the arrivals segment.

And another way to get to Rome from Fiumicino Airport is by taxi. Even though there are still taxi drivers in Rome who will not refuse to exceed the fare for unsuspecting tourists, there is an absolutely optimal opportunity to avoid them. One of these options is to book a taxi online for your flight before arriving at Fiumicino airport, although it is also possible to catch a car at the exit from the terminal. Another question is that in this case you will have to take all the risks personally.
By and large, this is a somewhat specific option that is not very different from a taxi. The only significant difference is that the companies providing the corresponding service are not subject to the same tariff at which taxi drivers work. That is, if you choose this option, you need to be prepared for the fact that you will have to pay exactly for as much as you are going to drive.
You can identify such cars at the airport by the NCC icon, which translated into Russian means “Rent with Driver.” Typically, cars with NCC badges are clustered in the same place as the official taxis, but can be hired from kiosks located inside the airport building.

Electric train
The most common commuter electric train makes many stops on the way to the city, in the city itself and its suburbs. Departure interval is 15 minutes, stops at the stations Roma Tiburtina (40 minutes, 8 euros), Fara Sabina-Montelibretti (one and a half hours, 11 euros), Tuscolana (40 minutes, 8 euros), Ostiense (30 minutes, 8 euros), Trastevere (26 minutes, 8 euros), Poggio Mirteto (one and a half hours, 11 euros) and Orte (2 hours, 11 euros). Electric train line FR1 and FL – ground metro
The ticket price is 6 euros, trains depart at intervals of 15 minutes, on weekends - every 30 minutes. In Rome, it is best to get off at Termini Station, from here you can get to the central and other areas by city bus. The route has three connections to the metro - at Ostiense, Tuscolana or Tiburtina stations. Having got off at Ostiense station, tourists transfer to the northern branch of metro line B, at Tiburtina station - to the southern branch of metro line B. At Tuscolana station, they transfer to the northern branch of metro line A.
Shuttle buses from Terravision, SIT and Cotral
Another economical way to get to the Eternal City. After leaving the customs control area, you need to follow the signs with a painted bus. The services of several transport companies are offered.
