Statistics of plane crashes in the world and Russia. How often do passenger planes crash? Aircraft accidents

Statistics is an impartial science. She does not belittle or embellish the details. She presents the picture as it is. The statistics of crashes in Russia are a complete disappointment in domestic aviation. When you start looking at the causes of plane crashes, you often come across the phrase “pilot error” or “crew error.”

It's right. The human factor is the leading cause in Russia and the world. What are the biggest plane crashes in Russia over the past 10 years? Unfortunately, there are many of them. And if in the USA the statistics of crashes is falling, then in Russia it is only growing. What are the main reasons for this?

So, the leader is by a clear margin - human factor. Insufficient and unqualified pilot training largely leads to such sad results.

Airbus A330-300 from Aeroflot.

Many experts note that old Soviet models are still in use, which are long overdue for decommissioning.

Another reason is the greed of airlines, which skimp on the quality of aircraft maintenance and the purchase of new parts and equipment.

As a result, the equipment wears out, parts are not replaced, and the aircraft becomes unusable. But it is not being taken out of service. There are known cases when the plane flew until it was completely worn out, even to the point of disaster!

List of the largest air disasters in Russia

Over the past few years, Russia has had its share of quite a few very sad disasters. One of the most “recent” is the crash of a TU-154 heading to Syria, December 25, 2016. This is the largest accident in 2016.

TU-154 from Utair.

The causes of the disaster have not yet been clarified due to difficulties in deciphering the black boxes. It is only known that the plane crashed into the Black Sea, taking with it the lives of all passengers and crew.

March 19 of the same year A FlyDubai plane flying to Rostov-on-Don from the UAE crashed. All people died. The causes of the disaster are also still being clarified, but so far only interim results have been announced.

That night there were difficult weather conditions, which forced the plane to land twice. After the second time, it began to decline sharply and simply collapsed into GDP.

The biggest disaster in 2013, Boeing 737 crash near Kazan. All passengers and crew were killed. The accident also occurred during landing.

The reason is said to be negligence and failure of the crew to fulfill their duties, as well as their insufficient preparedness for flights.

Airplane TU-134.

Another terrible disaster that occurred in Karelia, death of TU-134 when landing. The plane collided with trees and crashed. One of the reasons is poor visibility in foggy conditions. 47 people died, but 5 managed to survive.

Plane crash near Yaroslavl of a Yak-42 aircraft led to the death of the entire Lokomotiv hockey team. In this disaster only 1 person survived. During takeoff, the plane crashed into a radio beacon and crashed on the river bank. The reason also turned out to be the unpreparedness of the crew.

Monday - April 2, 2012- turned out to be the last day for most passengers and crew of Utair flight 120. Only 10 managed to survive this disaster. The accident occurred after takeoff, 42 seconds later.

The reason turned out to be the PIC’s refusal to perform anti-icing treatment, which led to a deterioration in the aerodynamic capabilities of the aircraft. Plus, the crew was unable to notice the plane stalling in time.

Which Russian planes crash more often?

In the article on our website, you can see that the IL-76 is already in second place in the ranking of the most dangerous aircraft in the world, and the third is the well-known TU-154. TU-134 takes sixth place.

Three models from Russian manufacturers are included in this list. This says something. However, for example, the same TU-154 was never taken out of service, as a result of which disasters continue to occur.

The mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 on March 8, 2014 is far from the only air tragedy that raises more questions than it answers. The history of aviation knows cases when planes also did not give a distress signal, and after disappearing they did not leave any traces or debris. Here are just some of the loudest and most mysterious plane crashes, which were also not without mysticism...

Amelia Earhart (1937)

The mystery of the last flight of Amelia Earhart, the first female pilot, remains unsolved to this day. In 1937, while attempting to fly around the world in a twin-engine Lockheed Model 10 Electra, Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan went missing in the central Pacific Ocean.

According to one version, the plane simply ran out of fuel; according to another, Amelia Earhart and Frederick Noonan were captured by the Japanese, who were building their military bases on islands in this part of the Pacific Ocean.

Airplane "Cessna" (1972)

On October 16, 1972, Democratic US Congressman Thomas Hale Boggs and politician Nick Begich boarded a twin-engine Cessna en route to Juneau, the capital of Alaska.

However, the plane was never destined to deliver passengers to their destination - it disappeared without a trace. Even the 39-day search, which was called “the largest in Alaska history,” because... 70 aircraft were involved in them, but did not produce any results.

Various assumptions have been made about the cause of the plane crash. It was rumored that the plane was shot down by the Serbs because of Begich's Croatian roots. Another version pointed to Boggs' political background as a member of the Warren Commission.

TWA Flight 800 (1996)

A Boeing 747 plane en route from New York to Rome exploded in mid-air and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. All 230 passengers on board were killed. Experts from the National Transportation Safety Board determined that the likely cause of the plane crash was a fuel tank explosion caused by faulty electrical wiring.

However, conspiracy theorists are confident that the cause of the explosion was a bomb placed on board the plane or a collision with a US Navy missile.

In a briefing last summer, the National Safety Board confirmed that neither eyewitness testimony, recovered debris nor flight data recorders support the idea that the plane collided with a missile.

EgyptAir Flight 990 (1999)

The Boeing 767 plane, operating regular flights between Los Angeles and Cairo, crashed and fell into the Atlantic Ocean almost immediately after takeoff. The disaster claimed the lives of 200 people. After a 2-year investigation, it was determined that the plane crash was caused by improper actions of the crew commander.

All the evidence collected by the National Council, including the plane's flight path and data from the flight recorders, indicated that the commander and first officer were trying to take control of the plane in their last moments. The senior officer repeatedly said, “I trust in God.” This version did not suit the Egyptian side, and it put forward its own - the cause of the disaster was a malfunction of the aircraft control system.

Air France flight 447 (2009)

This fatal air incident occurred in 2009 involving an Airbus A 330 flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The plane with 228 passengers on board fell into the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

As in the case of the missing Malaysian plane, the Air France pilots did not issue a distress signal. A full-scale search and rescue operation for five days produced no results. Then some fragments of the tail section of the plane were found.

The search for the plane that crashed to the bottom of the ocean dragged on for two years. And a year later, as a result of the investigation, it was found that ice crystals blocked the plane's airspeed sensors - this is what led to the tragedy.

Missing Malaysian Boeing (2014)

The version of a terrorist attack remains possible in the story of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane. According to one hypothesis, passengers on board the ill-fated Boeing could have been seriously injured or killed due to high overloads, but those who were in the cockpit could have survived and landed the airliner, and then possibly lifted it into the air for some goals... Sergei MELNICHENKO, a member of the World Flight Safety Foundation, spoke about how this version is being built.

“The plane took off... Literally 40 minutes later, ACARS stopped working, the crew said goodbye to the dispatcher and did not get in touch again,” recalls Sergei Melnichenko. - Three minutes after the last radio communication, the transponder was turned off. After this, the plane turned to the left and proceeded virtually in the opposite direction, crossed Malaysia, and entered the Strait of Malacca. Then the military reported that the plane began to climb to flight level 450 - an altitude of 15 km.

And I thought at the very beginning: if the investigators received information that someone was trying to make the plane invisible to radars and to air traffic controllers, then probably they should have asked all the radiotelephone communication providers, because the Chinese region of Malaysia is known for the fact that there are people there They probably just sleep without smartphones, phones, iPads, etc. This information was not available for eight days. On March 18, such information appeared. Indeed, all providers were requested and the result is this: passengers did not even try to turn on the phone. Not to mention sending SMS or trying to call.

To be clear: the Boeing 777 is approved to fly at a maximum altitude of 43,100 feet (13.1 km). He also accumulated 13.7 thousand km. A few days ago, the Americans simulated the flight of a Boeing 777 at an altitude of 45 thousand feet, and came to the conclusion that flight on autopilot was impossible. The autopilot immediately returns the plane to safe altitudes, so piloting at 45 thousand feet was carried out by a person. An American pilot who was working in the simulator said the plane became completely unstable at that altitude. The air is thin and the plane is close to stalling.

The question arises: why was this done? I’m afraid to assume... I really don’t like to speculate when a possible action or inaction is related to the life and health of people, but here we can’t help but assume that, as a result of malicious intent, someone raised the plane to an altitude that is outside the operational parameters in order to depressurize the cabin in which the passengers were located.

At an altitude of 15 km, 15 thousand meters or about 45 thousand feet, during depressurization, a person without oxygen and without an emergency descent, which according to all the rules must be undertaken by the crew, can live from 9 to 15 seconds: the blood, as they figuratively say, boils. That is, during the time when the plane was flying at such an extremely high level, the health of the passengers could have suffered either too serious or irreparable damage. After this, the plane very sharply descended with high vertical speed to flight level 230 (that’s 23 thousand feet).

The speed at which this plane descended suggests that the stress on the people was very serious. If someone was alive, then this could simply be a load that the person could not bear. Further, the Malayan military says that the plane reached flight level 295 and disappeared somewhere from the field of view of military radars. The situation is very serious. This speaks of the criminal intentions of the person or people who carried it out.

This may indicate that it is unlikely that one person was behind such a blasphemous plan. And it is unlikely that one person could spontaneously perform such actions. Very serious preliminary preparation was required. It was necessary to determine at what point to turn off everything, it was necessary to determine the procedure for recruiting an exceptionally high echelon and with a sharp decline.

If a ship was hijacked, it was hijacked for some subsequent purpose. The fact that today 26 states are already participating in the search indicates concern about the fate of the aircraft. If an airliner somewhere managed to land with non-living people, then there is a danger that it will someday take off somewhere, and none of us knows what it will have on board. The fact that all terrorist organizations are silent also makes us think. Maybe their plan has not yet been completed? I have this concern.

— When the changes in altitude began, the pilots themselves could survive and fly the plane, right?

- Pilots or the pilot or the person who was in the cockpit. This person could put on an oxygen mask and could, if he knows how to turn off all those systems that we talked about, make sure that the oxygen masks do not fall out in emergency mode. And he himself could perform his functions.

Every day in the world someone asks the question - what are the statistics of plane crashes? After all, every minute any air transport is exposed to the same risk of crash:

  • passenger;
  • cargo;
  • military.

Statistics of plane crashes in the world note that in recent years most often occurred in the United States. Unfortunately, Russia's rating is second place. The United States is trying to improve the situation, especially with passenger transportation. The Russian government pays more attention to military aircraft.

Under the Soviet Union, aircraft crash statistics were difficult to accurately determine, as they were almost always kept silent. Today this is almost impossible to do.

Why do planes crash?

Every person going on an air trip for the first time tries to find information about the main reasons for flying cars. Despite the fact that airplanes are marked as the safest transport in the world, the future passenger does not even think that on land he is accompanied by danger much more often than in the air.

In the United States, looking at each year since 1945, more than 630 disasters have occurred, killing more than 10,500 people.

In Russia and the USSR during this time, less than 307 accidents occurred, where approximately 7,000 fatalities were counted.

In Canada during this period, there were 173 accidents, where approximately 1,755 fatalities were counted.

Ecuador ranks last among countries. The planes of this country crashed the least.

Aircraft crash statistics

Statistics of aircraft accidents in the world highlight the Boeing brand. These aircraft are considered the most dangerous and are most often found in the zone. The Boeings 747 and 737 are highlighted in particular. They are the most frequently crashed.

The statistics of those killed in plane crashes in Russia and other countries on Boeing aircraft is astounding. To avoid trouble, a special accident assessment service strongly recommends correcting certain errors so that this does not happen again in the future.

Many airlines have already stopped transporting people on the Boeing 737, but some countries still operate this brand of aircraft. Despite its poor performance, the Boeing 737 is considered the safest passenger transport.

The Tu 154 has also been noted for the number of aircraft crashes in the world. During the period of its use, starting in 1973, at least once every twelve months one of these aircraft crashes. However, experts say that this model is one of the most reliable for transporting passengers. The reasons for their accidents are the carelessness of pilots and dispatchers, since the complexity of the structure of this equipment requires appropriate professionalism and attention.

Statistics of plane crashes in the world by year make it possible to evaluate the actions of specialists who are trying to correct all the shortcomings and make sure that planes are exposed to a minimal risk of crashing. This can be seen on Wikipedia, where a table is provided, both with exact numbers and in percentages, showing accidents and the number of fatalities in each of them. The five worst crashes in the last two years:

Year A country Airline Aircraft brand Flight course Number of victims
2015 TaiwanTransAsia AirwaysATR 72Songshan–Kinmen43
2015 GermanyGermanwingsAirbus A320-211Barcelona – Dusseldorf150

2016 Russia Boeing 737-800Dubai – Rostov-on-Don62
2016 EgyptEgyptAirA320Paris-Cairo66

Despite all the efforts of the experts, the statistics of plane crashes in the USA and Russia have not changed much. They still rank first. Looking separately at accidents during cargo transportation, we can confidently say that they occur due to improper maintenance and violations of safety rules. Mostly they use old cars, the repair of which no one monitors. And the statistics of plane crashes due to dangerous ones only confirms this.

Often cargo planes are loaded with much more weight than necessary. Considering the still old design, this is the main reason for the crash of such a transport. Airline crash statistics for airlines are difficult to determine. No one can say with certainty which one is better or worse. It all depends on the transport and how its working condition is monitored. The twenty safest airlines today:

Plane crashes in Russia

The statistics of plane crashes in Russia and the USA are in the lead for both airlines and aircraft for one reason. These two countries are most involved in air transport. Considering that there is one crash per million flights, then with such a busy schedule it is difficult to avoid such tragedies.

Statistics of air accidents in the USSR show that at that time air accidents were rare - one every couple of years. The frequency of accidents began after a long period of use of the equipment, when vehicle repair work was ignored.

The considered statistics of plane crashes in Russia by airline are noted by Aeroflot. It is one of the oldest. Perhaps that is why it is considered dangerous for passengers. At the same time, few people pay attention to the fact that these are mainly her “daughters”. In the company itself, accidents have decreased greatly over the past 20 years.

Despite the fact that according to statistics, Aeroflot aircraft accidents are off the charts, the company is doing its best to correct the situation and reduce the number of accidents to a minimum. To do this, it is modernizing its aircraft fleet and certifying its pilots for professionalism. Such tests help determine how capable an employee is of adequately assessing critical situations.

Judging by Russian airlines and those killed in plane crashes, the statistics of victims at Aeroflot is frightening. Over the entire history of its existence, there have been approximately 130 crashes.

However, over the past 10 years, airlines have proven that flight safety is much better than ground travel. At the same time, over the past 5 years in Russia the number of accidents has decreased significantly. This proves that the country is worried not only about income, but also about security. Experts try to reduce flow disruption to a minimum.

Looking at recent years, 2015 was an unusually quiet year. There were only 16 disasters, killing 560 people. But it was like the calm before the storm. In 2016, there were as many accidents with victims as there were in several years.

But, regardless of the statistics of plane crashes in Russia in 2016, the popularity of air travel has not decreased. Every day there are more and more people wanting to fly.

Today, January 16, at 7.31 in the Chui region, near the village of Zhany-Zher, where the dachas are located, a cargo plane crashed. Boeing 747-400F, flying Hong Kong - Bishkek - Istanbul. The plane fell on residential buildings. So far there are more than 30 dead - almost all of them are residents of the dachas on which the plane crashed. Of the four crew members, one survived but later died in hospital.

Information about the plane crash was reported by an eyewitness by calling the “112” service of the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic at 7.29. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic notified all emergency services. According to preliminary data, the plane belonged to MyCargo Airlines and was operated by Turkish Airlines.

On January 16, 2017, while preparing to land at Manas Airport, a Boeing 747 cargo plane belonging to Turkish Airlines crashed a few kilometers from its destination while flying from Hong Kong. The current crash was the first major plane crash since the beginning of this year, and, according to experts, it was very mysterious.

Chronicle of the events of the Boeing 747 plane crash of Turkish Airlines.

According to the news agency website, a cargo plane of the Turkish airline Turkish Airlines was flying from Hong Kong to Istanbul, with a planned stopover in Bishkek. However, early in the morning, when specialists at the Bishkek air harbor were already preparing to receive the plane, it unexpectedly disappeared from the controllers’ radars, and, as it later became known, crashed, in fact, a few minutes before its arrival at its destination.

A Boeing 747 cargo plane crashed directly into a holiday village, which led to a large number of injuries and casualties, numbering in the dozens of people, while there were only four crew members on board the aircraft itself.

There was massive destruction at the scene of the plane crash - when it fell, the plane literally rammed several buildings, which led to a large number of casualties and injuries.

Victims and injured in a plane crash near Bishkek on January 16, 2017.

As of 9 a.m., the bodies of 32 victims have already been found at the site of the cargo plane crash, including 3 crew members and 29 residents of the holiday village. However, experts note that the list of victims will definitely grow, since there are still bodies of people under the rubble.

According to preliminary data, as a result of the cargo plane crash on a holiday village, at least three dozen people were injured - most of them were hospitalized with various types of injuries.

Versions, causes and circumstances of the plane crash.

At the moment, experts are wondering why a Turkish plane crashed near Bishkek? And although the exact data of this will become known only after a thorough investigation, two main versions of the plane crash have already been put forward, including a lack of fuel and a technical malfunction.

Fuel shortage

At the moment, the version with a lack of fuel is the main one among specialists involved in the investigation of this plane crash, and although these circumstances are not officially commented on, experts believe that it was precisely because the plane’s fuel tanks were empty that the plane crashed into the holiday village. On the other hand, information emerged from unofficial sources that the pilots of the aircraft did not report an emergency on board and did not require an emergency landing.

Technical problem

The version of the technical malfunction of the Boeing 747 cargo plane is also one of the main ones, in particular, experts believe that it was likely that problems could arise with the aircraft control system, and, due to the fact that the plane was at a low altitude, the pilots were unable to report any problems they have.
