We have vacationed on the Black Sea countless times. Even after the Philippines, Thailand, Spain, Italy and other countries with a high level of service and heavenly beaches, we come to relax in the South of Russia almost every summer. For what? For the sake of nature, interesting sights and exotics (Crimea and Kuban are a journey into the past, back to the USSR). And you can find good beaches here - sandy and deserted.

Baltic Sea

You can improve your health and enjoy the charm of the Baltic resorts in Russia - in the Kaliningrad region. Just look at the Curonian Spit alone with its wild sandy beaches, dunes, dancing forest and sea!

Where to go. The resorts of the Baltic Sea are purely European - clean, well-groomed, a little toy-like and certainly with ancient architecture. The German spirit is strongly felt in Zelenogradsk - the city was once a royal resort. It is famous for its wide sandy beach, but the beach of Svetlogorsk is not so good, moreover, it is washed away by water. But the city has a hilly terrain and is surrounded by tall pine trees. South of Russia and the Caucasus

Where to go for active recreation in the summer of 2019? Definitely to the south of Russia - this is where there is freedom for those who like to have a good workout on vacation!

Holidays in the Sochi area. Go to the Khmelevskie Lakes, which are located at an altitude of 1800 meters, and admire the gorgeous views. Visit the Plesetskaya gap and take a trekking walk through the yew-boxwood grove in the village of Khosta. Take a trip to breathe the mountain air and enjoy the beautiful views.

Caucasus. A great way to test your endurance and at the same time enjoy the beauty of the Caucasus is to go trekking on the Lago-Naki plateau or climb Elbrus. For those who want to see the Caucasus Mountains in all their glory, we recommend going to Arkhyz - these are our favorite places! There are stunning landscapes and many interesting routes for one-day hikes - everyone can do it.

Sport. For those who are interested in water sports, we recommend going to Anapa (Blagoveshchenskaya village) - there are ideal conditions for kitesurfing. In the village of Golubitskaya on the Sea of Azov you can go paragliding and windsurfing.

One of my favorite places in the Caucasus is Sofia Sedlo, Arkhyz, Karachay-Cherkess Republic.

Crimea

In Crimea there are more than enough opportunities for active recreation in the summer!

For diving come to the village of Olenevka - the clearest water and beautiful coral reefs are guaranteed to you. We highly recommend taking a boat trip in Olenevka! We got a lot of impressions: we had a windy ride, saw the grottoes and rocks of Tarkhankut, and met dolphins.

Get busy paragliding And hang gliding you can in Koktebel - it was there, on Mount Klementyev, that Soviet hang gliding was born in the 30s. From the top there are stunning views of the Kara-Dag volcanic massif and the Uzun-Syrt ridge, and in bad weather you can always take a sea excursion, visit a nature reserve, go to neighboring towns or just sunbathe on the beach.

Not far from the villages there is a mineral lake and healing mud lakes, you can go to Taman and Veselovka, and Crimea is nearby.

If you want to relax with your child on the Black Sea, then it is better to go to the resorts of the Southern Coast of Crimea or to Sudak. It’s also a good idea to relax in the small villages of the Krasnodar Territory. Last summer we took our nephews to relax by the sea in Crimea, to Sudak - the children were happy.

As for the Baltic Sea, there is an excellent beach in Zelenogradsk - it is also easy to get to the protected Curonian Spit from there.

Active holidays with children. If your child is already old enough, you can go hiking with him in the Caucasus or Crimean mountains. My 12-year-old niece enjoyed going with us on short hikes around Sudak. Teenagers will be interested in trying a new sport - for example, wind or kitesurfing in or in the village of Golubitskaya. In Abkhazia, prices are lower and holidays at sea are more comfortable. Here you have a much better chance of finding good beaches and clean seas. In addition, in Abkhazia there are fewer tourists at sea - the main thing is to move away from Sukhumi to resort places, and then you can find a very inexpensive holiday on the seashore. How to get to Abkhazia

From Moscow or St. Petersburg you can travel directly to Sukhumi inexpensively by train. Travel time is 38 and 45 hours.
Either from another city in Russia by train or plane to Sochi airport (Adler), and from there there are trains and buses to Sukhumi, the journey takes 2-3 hours.

If you are driving your own or through a checkpoint at the border across the Psou River, just get out and show your passport and documents for the car. Leave through the same checkpoint. There are no difficulties at the border, just a formality.

There are not many modern accommodation options in Abkhazia, mainly the “soviet” private sector, which is easy to book upon arrival. However, there are also quite good guest houses and even excellent inexpensive hotels, but it is better to book them in advance in order to get a civilized one for the price of a “wild” holiday. To begin with, you can stay near the city of Sukhumi and close to the sea - in the Rufina guest house - cheap, but quite comfortable.

We go further, where there are fewer tourists, and find the Alamys guest house, ideal in terms of price and quality (see photos, reviews and prices), conveniently located in the resort of Gudauta, right next to the Black Sea. There are comfortable sun loungers on the beach and there are no other tourists nearby. Clean sea, delicious food. You can admire the sea 24/7 from your room’s balcony – you won’t be able to find anything like this on the first line by the sea in Sochi or Lazarevskoye.

There are many sandy, sandy and shell beaches on the coast, so families with small children mostly go there. Although the Azov Sea contains 30% more oxygen than the Black Sea, due to the fact that it is shallow and the summers here are hot, oxygen starvation often occurs in the water, the water begins to bloom and becomes covered with algae. One of the attractions of the Sea of Azov are mud volcanoes, or salsas, the bulk of which are located in the Taman Peninsula area, although they are also found in Crimea, in the area of the Arabat Spit. These muds have healing properties due to substances (sulfides, sulfates) similar to antibiotics, which have a local antiseptic and disinfecting effect on the body.
