What to do in Ko Chang. Recreation and entertainment in Koh Chang. Canoeing

With the development of tourism activities on Koh Chang, the number and variety of entertainment is rapidly increasing. If literally five years ago there were no other activities here besides elephant riding, today it will not be difficult to organize your own exciting leisure time. Moreover, many places are perfect for visiting with the whole family, including children of any age category.

Renting a kayak on Koh Chang will not be difficult, since rental points are located on almost every beach on the island. The price depends on how long you will rent it for. For an hour rental you will have to pay 100 baht, for half a day - about 300 baht, and for a whole day - no more than 500 baht. By kayak you can explore the waters of nearby islands, of which there are several within Koh Chang. They are famous for their lush greenery and wild beaches.

All kayaks for rent are made of plastic, making them lightweight. It is very convenient for transportation and the bright color will help make your photos more colorful.

Note! Kayaks can be of two types: with removable backrests and without. The first option is more convenient, so try to look for points that offer just such swimming equipment. Each of them should have compartments for storing food and drinks.

Elephant ride

The very name of the island of Koh Chang suggests that elephant riding is the main form of entertainment on the island. Such a walk will give you the opportunity to feel like a real Indian Shah. There are several elephant farms on the island offering this type of activity. Typically this amazing journey includes walking through the jungle, swimming in a forest lake and feeding pets.

Finding an elephant nursery on Koh Chang is not difficult, as they are all located near the main road, near White Sand Beach. For easy searching, there is an “Elephant” index.

You can go on an excursion on your own, or you can purchase a tour at any excursion bureau.

Rope park

Tree Top Adventure Park is a true paradise for those looking for adventure in the jungle. A great place where you can have an active and fun time with the whole family. The rope park is a kind of attraction consisting of various obstacles. Visually it divided into 2 parts. The first consists of rope paths with boards that are laid between the trees. The second is free flight with special equipment.

There is nothing scary or dangerous in this program, but the emotions that you will receive while completing the route are unlikely to be compared with anything else. It will take about 2 hours to overcome all the obstacles. There is a rope park near Liska beach.

Please note that you will be in the middle of the jungle, so it is better to stock up on mosquito spray.

Crocodile and snake show

Those who want to tickle their nerves should definitely go to the snake and crocodile show. This is the most extreme program, the tension of which remains until the last trick. Both shows are held in the same place, so attend them alternately.

The most interesting thing is that neither snakes nor crocodiles can be trained, and everything that showmen do with them is based solely on knowledge of how the animal will behave in a given situation. After the program, you will be able to take memorable photos next to a python or cobra, and real extreme sports enthusiasts are offered a photo with a crocodile. The cost of such a program starts from 300 baht. The building where the show is held is located on the main road between Chai Chet and Pearl beaches.

Shooting a weapon

In the eastern part of Koh Chang there is entertainment for real men - a shooting club. There is a sign on the main road. Everything here is created at the highest level, and you will shoot not from any toy pistols, but from excellent copies of real military weapons. Before the start of the excursion, everyone is given a mandatory introductory briefing on the safe handling of weapons. Then you can practice. In the club you will find absolutely everything, from revolvers to professional sniper rifles and machine guns.

Both adults and children can visit the shooting range. Please note that the club is only open after lunch.

Archery

No less interesting will be a visit to the archery club. This activity is less extreme than the previous one, but, nevertheless, you can also get maximum pleasure from it. The club is located in the vicinity of Klong Prao Beach. You can safely come here with your whole family.

Before the start of the shooting range, you will also receive an introductory briefing and talk about safety and rules of conduct. Then you will receive the necessary equipment and can choose your own bow. There are weapons here for both men, women and children.

The club is open from lunch until 6 pm. Payment for the shooting range is made by the hour.

Diving

There are several dozen dive centers on Koh Chang that will help you make your cherished dream of scuba diving come true. There are many picturesque places around the island, providing the opportunity to see rare deep-sea inhabitants and enjoy views of the most extraordinary landscapes. Most of the dive sites are located near the island, and the journey to them does not take more than half an hour.

You can feel the taste at any time, since summer on the island lasts all year round. The water temperature rarely drops below +27 degrees Celsius, and visibility under water in some places reaches 30 meters. During the dive you will see parrot fish, barracuda, coral reefs, there are places where whale or tiger sharks and sea turtles live.

Thai boxing

Muay Thai is a whole martial art that has gained recognition all over the world. Its name translates as free fight. His fame spread beyond Thailand back in 1977, after Muay Thai fighters won a number of victories over the best karatekas and kickboxers from around the world. It is noteworthy that today Muay Thai schools operate in the CIS countries. That is why, having become acquainted with art in Thailand, you will always have the opportunity to continue your favorite activity in your homeland.

For tourists, Thai boxing on Koh Chang has only been available for a few years. There are currently three clubs offering trial martial arts courses. They are located on the beaches of Bailan Beach, Kai Bay and Chai Chet. In addition, there are some hotels that provide individual boxing lessons.

Boys begin to be attracted to Thai boxing from the age of 5, so if you want to conduct a lesson with a child, there will be no problems with this. The price depends on the duration of the course. This can be either a one-time lesson or a weekly or monthly course.

Golf

Koh Chang is a great place for those who decide to learn golf. A wonderful golf center is located near the Siam Royal View observation deck. This is one of the most visited places on the island. Here you can not only gain gaming skills, but also enjoy stunning views of the mountainous terrain. The golf center is visited by both beginners and true masters of their craft, including many show business stars.

If you wish, they can conduct a special lesson for you to help you master the game. The center provides conditions for visiting it at any time of the year.

Excursion to neighboring islands

Almost all excursion bureaus offer tourists to go on an unforgettable tour of the neighboring islands of Koh Chang - Kud, Mak and Wai. All boats depart from the pier in Bang Bao. There is no ferry service between the islands, which is why programs are carried out on speedboats. During the excursion, they offer snorkeling, put you ashore and give you time to get to know the island. Some of them have modest hotels for those who want to stay there for a couple of days.

A wide range of activities on Koh Chang will help you spend your holiday brightly and unforgettably. You will discover new heights of your capabilities, and maybe you will even be able to find a new hobby. You can visit many programs on your own, and if you don’t speak English well, contact any tour desk and go on a carefree trip with a guide.

Klong Prao Beach is a tranquil place located at the mouth of the river of the same name. The Klong Prao River divides the coast into two zones of fine white sand. The beach stretches for 4 kilometers.

On the beach there are hotels of various price categories that offer tourists to relax and admire stunning views of Koh Chang Island. There are also numerous bungalows under palm trees, cafes and open-air restaurants. Nightclubs are not close, so silence on the beach is guaranteed.

The beach is quite clean, so sunbathing and swimming here is absolutely safe. On the beach you can sometimes find crabs and hermit crabs, small mollusk shells, and small fish swimming in the water. The only drawback of the beach is the small number of sunbeds.

Klong Prao Beach

Klong Prao is one of the largest and most unique beaches on Koh Chang, divided by a canal in the south and partly by a river mouth.

Klong Prao Beach begins where the famous Laem Chai Chet cape ends and is considered a secluded place suitable for those who prefer mountainous scenery and a calm atmosphere. There aren't many amenities on site, but most public areas can be found along the main Khlong Prao road, not too far from the beach.

Visitors can borrow umbrellas and sun loungers for free at the hotel where they are staying, as well as rent them for a small fee. The southern part of the beach is home to some of the most popular restaurants on Khlong Prao Beach, serving delicious and inexpensive traditional cuisine. There is also a fishing village near Klong Prao that sells fresh seafood and fish.

Koh Wai Island

Koh Wai is a small hilly islet south of the larger island of Koh Chang in the eastern Gulf of Thailand and can be reached in about an hour by leisurely ferry.

Koh Wai is not suitable for lovers of noisy parties or special comfort - there are no bars, clubs or restaurants, no paved roads, villages, shops or ATMs. Only five small hotels formed by detached bungalows.

But Koh Wai is literally created for lovers of secluded relaxation. Ko Wai has many sandy beaches to offer, mostly along the northern tip of the island, stunning tropical scenery and clear waters. Many coral reefs make Koh Wai a very attractive place for snorkeling.

Klong Prao is the second largest beach on Koh Chang island, the main feature of which is a comfortable and relaxing beach holiday.

Klong Prao beach is less noisy compared to the popular White Sand beach in Thailand. Klong Prao has many shops, restaurants, luxury hotels and villas. The beach itself is not famous for its amenities: most showers, toilets and bistro cafes are not located near the coastline. Traditional dishes in beach establishments are seafood and salads.

Vacationers can rent umbrellas and sun loungers at the hotel; on the shore itself you can only count on the shade from the trees scattered throughout Klong Prao. The sand on the shore is clean and yellow in color, and the entrance to the water is smooth and comfortable.

Klong Plu Waterfall

After a walk through the jungle, you get to the ticket sales point for Khlong Plu, and you get to the waterfall, where you can not only enjoy its beauty, but also swim to your heart’s content, since the depth of the waterfall bowl is conducive to both regular swimming at shallow depths and diving - the deepest point of the bowl reaches seven meters.

Tickets can be purchased from 8.00 to 16.30. Not far from the waterfall there is a campsite, several cafes and toilets.

The height of Klong Plu reaches ten meters, and it is the largest waterfall on the island.

It is especially beautiful during the rainy season, which lasts from May to September.

Klong Plu Waterfall

Klong Plu Waterfall is one of the most beautiful and highest waterfalls on Klong Prao Island.

Klong Plu Waterfall is located three kilometers from the island's main highway and the road to it is open from 08:00 to 16:30. Klong Plu is considered the most convenient waterfall for swimming: one of its pools is seven meters at its deepest point, and the other has a shallow entrance suitable for children. Entrance fee for adults is 200 baht, for children under 14 years old – 100 baht.

Near the sales office, two kilometers from the waterfall, there are cafes, camping areas and rest rooms. From May to September there is a rainy season in this area, and at this time Klong Plu is especially picturesque.

Koh Kood Island (Koh Kut)

Paradise on earth, Ko Kood, Coconut Lagoon, is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It is the second largest island in the Koh Chang archipelago and part of the Mu Koh Chang Marine National Park. The island is famous for its untouched nature, indescribable flora and fauna.

First on the list to visit should be the amazingly beautiful Klong Chao Waterfall, where fish live. Among the local jungles and mountains covered with dense green forests, it is easy to forget that somewhere on earth cars still drive, and people rush to work in the morning. Wild nature, beautiful, real.

Ko Kood is an excellent diving spot, as is common on most islands. There are excellent sandy beaches and amazingly gentle sea. On the island there is a Buddhist temple of the Golden Bell, where monkeys, beloved by tourists who come here, live.

Chao Po Shrine

Chao Po is an iconic place not only for tourists but also for religious people on the island of Koh Chang in Thailand. This is the main shrine of the island.

The name of this shrine can be translated as "Holy Father Koh Chang", who is considered the patron saint of the island's inhabitants. Since ancient times, people turned to him in prayers for help when it was necessary to protect themselves from strong monsoon winds, when going fishing in the sea, to ask for favorable weather for the ripening of crops and protection from diseases.

Local residents claim that the Holy Father Koh Chang always helped those praying in difficult times, and you can hear many interesting stories about this from guides. When praying to your patron, it is customary to light candles and look towards the temple. The exquisite oriental architecture, the beauty of the surrounding nature and the mystical past of this shrine attract tourists from all over the world.

More attractions of Chang

Well, now let's return to Thailand...

One of the best resorts in Thailand, Koh Chang Island, has long become a favorite holiday destination for tourists from all over the world, including from Russia. Koh Chang is all about gorgeous beaches and fun nightlife. They are also developing very actively. But that's not all! There is a lot of entertainment on the island for every taste and if you ask yourself the question: “ What to do on Koh Chang?“Then this post is for you.

Let’s not talk now about excursions, “vegetable rest” under a palm tree on the beach near the hotel and the destruction of alcohol in the bars of the island. How else can you entertain yourself on the island? What else could you come up with? Here are some more ideas for you how to spend time and what to see on Koh Chang:

1. Travel around the entire island on a bike.

All the main beaches, infrastructure and all the main life of the island take place on its western part. The eastern part is practically deserted, but this does not mean that it is not at all interesting. If you know how to drive a bike, then feel free to go to conquer the eastern shore of Koh Chang. Renting a bike is not a problem here. Price: 150-300 baht per day depending on its capacity and rental location. Alternatively, you can rent a car. Of course it will cost more: 1100-2000 baht, but if you don’t have experience driving a bike, then it’s better to take a car. The east coast of Koh Chang is no less beautiful than the west. True, there are practically no beaches suitable for swimming here, but for those who want to be alone with the nature of the island, this is the place!

2. Canoe to neighboring islands.

There are several small uninhabited islands near Koh Chang. It's easy to get there by renting a canoe. Rental points are located on Kai Bay and Longley Beach. These islands are full of crabs and other small creatures, some have small clean beaches with white sand. I wrote about how we canoed to one of these islands.

3. Conquer all the waterfalls of Koh Chang.

Although Koh Chang is not a very large island, there are seven waterfalls here! These are: Klong plu, Prao Talay, Klong chao luam, Klong Nonsi, Thaan Ma Yom, Klong Nung, Khiri Phtt ). Some of them are easy to get to, while others require you to make your way straight through the jungle! It is very pleasant to swim in the cool water of the waterfall after trekking through the jungle. Everywhere you will be surrounded by the very beautiful nature of the island. Waterfall lovers (like me) will love this adventure.

4. Visit and swim on all the beaches of the island.

Wherever you stay on Koh Chang, why limit yourself to just one beach. Take a self-guided tour of all the beaches on the island! Each of them is beautiful in its own way. If you drive a bike, then you can organize such a tour without any problems at all, but you can also use the services of local minibus taxis. I wrote in detail about the beaches of Koh Chang in my article:.

5. Climb the treetops.

There is a park on Koh Chang where you can actively relax and test yourself physically. This place is called TreeTop Adventure park. This is a whole complex of rope ladders, bungees, rope bridges and flying skateboards, which are stretched between the trees right in the jungle of Koh Chang. I highly recommend visiting here if you like active pastime! An independent visit to the park costs 950 baht. You can also book a transfer from them from anywhere on Koh Chang for 150 baht per person.

6. Shoot from different types of weapons.

There is a shooting club on the island where you can shoot with different types of firearms. Here you will find Kalashnikov assault rifles, an M-4 rifle, and many pistols and shotguns. True, this entertainment is not cheap, but those who like to shoot will appreciate it! The club is located on the eastern part of the island. You can get there on your own or order a transfer. Shooting will cost from 1,500 baht.

7. Play paintball.

There is also a paintball court on the island. It is located near the Klong Plu waterfall and Klong Phrao beach, so getting there on your own is not a problem. But if you want, they can take you there. Cost: 300 baht + 100 baht for every 50 shooting balls. In principle, nothing special - ordinary paintball.

8. Visit the fishermen's village of Bang Bao.

In the southernmost part of Koh Chang Island there is the fishing village of Bang Bao. Despite the fact that this place has become very touristy, and the prices here are simply outrageous, it is still very interesting to visit Bang Bao. In the village you can see the life of ordinary fishermen, buy fruits, dried seafood, souvenirs, and eat fresh seafood in local restaurants (albeit at a very expensive price). I wrote in detail about Bang Bao.

9. Visit the observation decks of Koh Chang.

There are several viewing platforms on Koh Chang. Perhaps the most popular is located after Kai Bay beach if you go towards Longley Beach, immediately after a steep climb. The site offers a very beautiful view of the nearby islands; here you can take beautiful photos and watch the sunset.

10. Watch the fire show.

Fire shows are held on the beaches of White Sand Beach and Longley Beach. Both there and there the show is at a fairly high level, but on White Sand it is more ambitious. Firefighters are hired by local bars, but you can watch the show for free without going to a bar, but simply sitting on the beach. The spectacle is very beautiful, be sure to watch!

11. Get a tattoo and dreadlocks and become a hippie backpacker.

As you can see, there is a lot to do and see on Koh Chang. The most important thing is not to sit still and always discover something new! After all, this is the beauty of travel!

Nightlife in Koh Chang Constantly developing, in particular this applies to the main beach, White Sand Beach. Other beaches are noticeably quieter, but no less vibrant, such as Lonely Beach, where parties are regularly held. Of course, you shouldn’t compare the island’s nightlife with Bangkok or Pattaya, however, everyone will find something here that will be interesting to them, be it a cool evening with a glass of wine with friends, a night of live music, a broadcast of a sports match or a wild party and dancing on the beach. Below is a guide to the island's nightlife and a list of entertainment options on each beach.

White Sand Beach

This is the most action-packed place on Koh Chang. Pubs and bars are located along the beach, as well as on the road on the back side of the beach. It has everything you could want, beach bars with fire shows and live country, rock, reggae or commercial hits. Here you will find many beer bars, karaoke bars, as well as the famous Irish pub. Some bars have a pool table and live sports channels. Being the main beach on the island and having all types of accommodation, from budget to very expensive, White Sand Beach attracts a very diverse contingent.

Lonely Beach is considered a nightlife hub for young and independent travelers, bohemians and the like. There are many beach and roadside pubs and bars with a variety of drinks, including beer and cocktails. There is always live music and DJs performing here. Full moon, half moon and dark moon parties are held every time there is a full moon. Parties are held every second weekend. If your hotel is located far from the beach and you want to return before the next morning, the question of “how to get there” can be very difficult.

) and is 70% jungle, was previously an island reserve. A trip to Koh Chang can turn into an amazing journey, connected precisely with the pristine beauty of the island’s nature. The nature of Koh Chang is unique, the island has its own delightful atmosphere. A huge plus of Koh Chang is that it’s not far away (about 5 hours by bus), and there’s always something to do on Koh Chang!

For those who know how to drive bikes and scooters, one of the very first and most educational activities on Koh Chang is a circumnavigation of the entire island. The ring road is made of asphalt, but in the south it breaks off in the middle of the jungle and you need to go back. Be careful on the road, as you often have to drive along serpentine roads, but from here there are divine views of the sea, mountains and jungle, be sure to take cameras with you.

The next entertainment on Koh Chang was a visit to the Klon Pliu waterfall, which is located in the Klong Prao area. The path to the waterfall is no more than 1 km. Klong Plu Waterfall consists of 2 bowls, in the lower one you can swim and jump (depth is about 7 meters). At the top level of the waterfall you can enjoy views of nature and animals (birds, snakes, monkeys), and after the rain there is a rainbow. All this is fascinating - this is the real entertainment on Koh Chang.

On each Koh Chang beach, kayaks are available for rent - boats with oars for one, two and three people. Kayak rental for the whole day costs 500 baht. Using this type of transport, you can go on your own excursion to uninhabited islands (they are located near the beaches and visible from Koh Chang), do not forget to take a snorkeling mask and sun cream with you. It is more convenient to get to the islands from the beaches of Lonely Beach and Kai Bae. Watch your step carefully if you go to the jungle of the islands, snakes and insects live there.

For extreme sports enthusiasts there is Tree Top Park. In the park, along a special route, participants jump on a rope from tree to tree like Tarzans. Cost 900 baht, open from 9 to 16.

The symbol of Thailand is the elephant and that means riding an elephant is a must. As they say, if you haven't ridden an elephant, you haven't been to Thailand. There are several elephant farms on Koh Chang, where you can travel through the jungle on a local elephant, or you can simply feed the elephant bananas (40 baht).

Although Koh Chang is a small island, it still has a place for such entertainment as Paint Ball. Between White Sand and Chai Chet beaches there is an open play area. Entertainment costs 1000 baht per day.

Romance lovers can watch the sunset at the observation deck between Kai Bae and Lonely Beach. There is also a gazebo and a cafe.

In addition to the above-described entertainment, Koh Chang also has a lot of usual activities: cafes, massages, excursions, shops, diving, fishing, etc.
