Tri Trang Beach (Phuket, Thailand): description, video, photo

Tri Trang Beach is located in the southwest of Phuket Island in Thailand and follows the popular and bustling Patong Beach.

This is a medium-sized beach, its length is approximately 730 meters! Tri Trang Beach is very cozy, beautiful and comfortable - it’s a good place to relax!

This is not the most popular beach on the island, so there are not many tourists here, and since the coastline is quite wide, you can always find a place in the sun here. You can also find a place in the shade - a casuarina forest belt has been left here, which casts a natural shadow on the beach.

There are no sun loungers or umbrellas here that you can rent. But there is a swing and a local attraction - an elephant, with which you can swim in the sea (from 500 baht). Therefore, it will be interesting and fun for both adults and children!

Mixed tree species combined with the sea breeze make the air here special, enriching the blood with oxygen and slightly intoxicating. Soft sand, depending on the intensity of sunlight, changes from light gray to white; lying on it is a pleasure! The entrance to the sea is very comfortable, the depth is average, the water is clear. There are no low tides here and you can swim all day. The beach is notable for the fact that you can swim here, this is due to the fact that there is a reef here that dampens the waves before they approach the shore.

In the west of the beach there is a cozy area where, under the shade of a growing tree, you can take a break from people, be alone with your thoughts, the sound of the sea and the wind blowing your hair. Well-known places in Thailand, for example, Patong Beach, will definitely not be able to please you with this. At this point, Tri Thang Beach ends with a rocky mountain, beyond which there is no possibility to pass.

In the east, the beach is crowded: due to the hotel located here. There is a special area for swimming.

In the center there is a swing where you can ride while watching the endless waves.

What to do on Tri Trang Beach (Phuket) in the dry and rainy season

Here you can swim for fun, explore the seabed and its inhabitants with the help of a mask and snorkel (c), swing on a swing, rent a canoe and sail towards the waves. There are also many attributes for active recreation. Play mini-football, volleyball or swim with an elephant! Also, massage services are provided here (from 300 baht for a full body massage (45 minutes)).

Hotels on Tri Trang Beach (Thailand, Phuket)

As for the area where the beach is located, it belongs to the expensive areas of the island. But, in principle, it is possible to find housing here at not the highest prices on the island.

Directly on the coast there is a four-star hotel in the mid-price category: Tri Trang Beach Resort. A little to the east is the four-star At Zea Hotel, which is a little more expensive.

Hotel prices will depend on the season. In high season the price will be 100%. During the low season, the price can drop by up to 70%.

Where to eat in Tri Trang

There is not such a wide selection of cafes and restaurants as in the famous resort of Patong, but there are several places where you can eat great. Basically, all restaurants are located on the territory of the hotels located here. They offer you alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and Thai cuisine in abundance. Also, before eating, you can refresh yourself with fresh juice.

How to find Tri Trang Beach on a map of Thailand

Tri Trang is located in the southwest of Phuket. You can get here along the Thawewong road, turning north. You can park your vehicle outside the hotel!

You can get there by rented car, motorbike or taxi.

Having arrived on vacation by plane, you can order at the exit from the terminal or in a way convenient for you, and we will meet you at the price of a local taxi!

On the island of Phuket, not far from Patong, there is a sandy beach - no more than 1 km long. Tri Trang is its official name (translated from Thai as “crystal clear”). Locals call it “Tri Tra”, emphasizing its “emerald” character. What the Thais mean by this is not clear.

The main advantage of Tri Trang is its non-mass nature. Lovers of a calm and quiet holiday on the sea coast spend their time here. A few years ago, except for local residents having picnics under the shady palm trees, no one came here at all.

The beach strip is quite wide. During high tide, the sandy part goes several meters into the water. At this time, you can swim and swim at Tri Trang Beach. At low tide, the water goes far, greatly exposing the rocky bottom. Those who are not afraid of a tsunami have fun walking on the rocks, collecting shells and other marine oddities.

The water in the sea is clear and has a beautiful turquoise color. The general atmosphere is conducive to a relaxed pastime. The shore is suitable for family holidays: there are no big waves here, so it’s safe even for children to swim. Huge palm trees grow on the shore, providing shelter from the hot sun. There are sun loungers and umbrellas for rent.

To have a snack, vacationers can go to inexpensive cafes conveniently located next to the recreation area, which offer both local cuisine and European cuisine. Fresh and tasty drinks to suit the taste of any client. One of the most visited places on Tri Trang beach is Goodview Restaurant.

In the evenings, candles are lit here and torches are placed, which creates a romantic and unusual ambience. You can come here in the morning for breakfast, and after swimming, after rinsing off in the shower.

Hotels

The left coast of the beach is occupied by small family-type hotels with swimming pools and sea views. One of the famous ones is Tri Trang Beach Resort (4*). Others in the same category: Merlin, Blue Ocean Resort, Absolute Twin Sand. For those looking for simpler accommodation, Aersa Paradise (2*) or At Zea Hotel (3*) with stylish design and marine-themed interiors are suitable.

In Phuket hotels, food for visitors is quite varied, and tourists speak very positively about it. The price of accommodation includes breakfast and dinner. There are European and Russian dishes. Always fresh food and fast preparation.

Breakfast includes buns, toast, vegetables, fruits, butter, jams, various cereals, milk, Thai dishes, ham, pancakes, cheeses, fried and boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, coffee, tea. Upon request, the chef will immediately make an omelette in the main hall - plain or with additives. If the queue is small, you can leave your order and pick it up in 5-10 minutes.

Entertainment

On Saturdays, fire shows are organized for vacationers on Tri Trang beach. On weekends there are discos, and in restaurants you can enjoy live music every evening. There is a volleyball net on the Phuket beach itself. If you plan to play, bring your own ball and save 200 baht ($5.5).

Professional massage therapists provide services on the beach. For one hour they will charge 400 baht per person. During the massage procedure, they will definitely ask about your condition and health. It is best to come for a massage in the morning, when the massage therapists are cheerful and 100% ready to work. Active recreation is developed on the island of Phuket. You can rent water skis for 1000 baht, a jet ski from 1200 to 1700 baht, a paraglider for 1300 baht. A kayak boat costs 400 baht per hour. One tourist will be charged 800 baht for renting a banana.

A 40-minute walk from Tri Trang is located. There are many tourist attractions there:

  • local broadway;
  • small but beautiful Kathu waterfall;
  • temples, zoo and butterfly garden;
  • golf clubs (Red Mountain, The Green Residence).

A short drive from Patong, you can get to private beaches.

How to get there

For any traveler, the beach is open around the clock. Follow Thawewong Road. Focus on Tri Trang Beach Resort. You can park in the hotel parking lot for an additional fee, and if you wish, you can rent a room. The civilized entrance to the beach is also located here. If you don’t need all this, then you can use any unauthorized passage in the fence.

From Patong by taxi 200 baht, 3 minutes, by boat 400 baht, 10 minutes journey or on foot for 40 minutes, but without a car, bike or taxi it’s far away.

We rested at the hotel from 18.07. to 07/30/19 Hotel on the seashore, about 3.5 km from Patong. On foot, due to the very hilly terrain, it is quite problematic. There is a bus from the hotel there - 2 times a day for free (at 9.30 and 15.00), additional trips for 50 TNV per person (at 12.00 and 17.30)to the Jangceylon shopping center. Returns - from the shopping center at 12.30, 15.00 and 18.00). Taxis and tuk-tuk require 300 TNV one way (you can bargain for 200). The beach is sandy, quite clean, but the tides are very pronounced. It is impossible to swim during low tide - it is shallow. Ideal for families with small children. We stayed in a Superior room with a sea view. The room is large - 35 m2, spacious bathroom with shower, no bath, large balcony with a good view. They were cleaned daily with a change of linen (they left 20 TNV as a tip). The room has a safe, hairdryer, umbrella, TV, minibar. Free water, tea, coffee - replenished daily. The staff is friendly, friendly, there is a Russian girl at the reception. You can ask for an iron and ironing board - they didn’t take it from us until we left. The hotel has a massage parlor, prices are about the same as in Patong. Of the minuses: breakfast is monotonous. There are a couple of cafes near the hotel, but the prices there are quite high. The air conditioner was constantly running in the room. Due to the distance from party areas, it is advisable to have your own vehicle (the hotel has motorbike rentals). In my opinion, it doesn’t qualify for 4*, but it’s a solid 3*.

I give this hotel a solid four. Because If we went in the off-season, Tri Trang Beach was recommended to us due to the lack of big waves. This moment lived up to our expectations. The beach is really good and you could safely swim. The hotel also has a very good location. And up toLively Patong is relatively close, and there is no noise in the hotel from the same Patong. By the way, free transport runs from the hotel to Patong several times a day, which is also a big plus. There were no complaints about the staff either. If requests arose, they were fulfilled quite quickly, although of course without much enthusiasm on the face)) There are no complaints about the cleaning either, quite good for Thailand. Breakfast is also quite good, there was always something to choose from. Although without any special frills. Nice and big rooms with TV. Quite neat furniture. The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay. And most importantly, a large and comfortable bed. There is a massage on site, very high quality, we liked it. Of course, there is not enough entertainment in the hotel. When it got boring, we took day trips. By the way, for several years in a row we have been taking tours from the same guys from the Avitip company, the organization and attitude towards the client are always excellent, and the price tag is the most adequate compared to others. We especially like the guide Elena. Here is her contact +66958566736, maybe it will be useful to someone. There is nothing particularly unpleasant to highlight. In general, everything is very worthy, I recommend it.

We were in this hotel in December 2017 (I don’t know why the app doesn’t let us choose 2017) and realized that we would come back here again and again! Now I don’t remember how long the trip from the airport to the hotel took, because at that moment it didn’t matter to me at all)but about 40 minutes, probably for sure. Well, the hotel is not big, the territory is not large, but this is only a plus, since there is not a huge number of tourists. The hotel is located far from Patong, from the perpetual motion, so for those who want to relax in silence - it is 100% suitable. Moreover, if you want to hang out, then there are taxis, tuk-tuks or renting bikes if you know how to drive. We only had breakfast at the hotel. The choice is not huge, but quite decent: fruits, cereals, pastries, jams, eggs in different versions, water, coffee, tea, juices. In general, there is plenty to choose from and you won’t go hungry. The room overlooked the bay itself and this, of course, is a gorgeous view, it is worth the extra charge (initially from Moscow I paid extra for a room with a view). The room is spacious and clean. Everything worked and there were no complaints. Upon request, they brought an ironing board and iron and took it away only when they placed it near the door; until that moment no one touched it. Cleaning every day and high quality. All the scattered things were neatly folded. Yes, we left a small tip, but it wasn’t a pity at all. The bathroom has a standard set - shampoo, shower gel, soap and a bottle of water. There are also small bottles of water in the room, which were replenished or replenished daily. The staff does not speak Russian very well, but they understand Russian quite well, so it was not difficult to explain their request. There are 2 ATMs on site, so you can withdraw money if necessary. Within walking distance from the hotel there is a grocery store with everything you need: water, food, cosmetics, cigarettes, alcohol. In the hotel restaurant, you can order dishes from both Asian and European cuisine à la carte; there is also a children’s menu section, but I can’t tell you how large the range of choice is. There are also bike rentals on site, the price is overpriced compared to those who are just on the street, but not critical. The Internet was available in the room, so there were no problems, but personally, we bought a SIM card initially so that we could have access to the Internet everywhere and not be tied to wi-fi. The sea here ebbs and flows, so you won’t be able to swim much in the morning, but around 11 o’clock the water rises and you can swim all night! I’ll end where I started - this is the hotel to which I will return every time I visit Phuket!

We were in this hotel as a transit on our way to Koh Samui. We arrived early in the morning as a group. Some people go on vacation to this hotel, others just for a day, like us. Those who came specifically to Tri Trang were accommodated immediately, given a card for breakfast, and we were told to come at 14-00. Naturally withoutbreakfast. After an overnight flight we were very tired, but there was nothing to do. They started looking for the luggage room. We were not provided with any information, since there are no Russian-speaking staff at the hotel. Wobbler, exhausted and sweaty, somehow changed clothes and went to the beach to freshen up. Imagine our surprise when we didn’t see a single sunbed near the sea! For a 4* this is strange to say the least. The only plus is that there is no strong wave. The hotel itself is located on a hill, with many steep steps. They finally gave us a room in building 4, the first one on the hill. The room is not bad. It opened, but the electricity did not turn on. I had to go to the reception again and explain something. They stuck something on the card and everything worked out. In the evening we went to dinner outside the hotel, up the hill and to the right. Some kind of cafe. Almost the only one in the surrounding area. The food is good, but the prices are not low. There is no civilization in the area. During the day we still had time to go to the city. The hotel provides a free shuttle service. What we were transported on looks more like a cattle truck. Something without doors, with benches along the windows and fans instead of air conditioning! We rode back in an open truck with metal bars on the sides. Breakfasts. I would say meager. Just have a snack and that's it. On another site there are more detailed casts from Sergei and Igor. I completely agree with them. I don't recommend the hotel.

Located in a small bay in the west of the island near Patong. We go to this beach quite often in the low season and today it’s time to talk about it :)

Tri Trang Beach Phuket: description

Tri Trang Beach is located in a small bay protected from waves. The length of the coastline is just over 700 m, and the width is very dependent on the tides, which are felt very strongly on this beach.

Coniferous casuarina trees and palm trees grow along the entire shore, creating shade on the beach. Wooden swings are hung in several places; people like to come here for romantic photo sessions. If you are looking for where in Phuket there are swings on the beach, then stop by Tri Trang beach :)

Sand and sea

The sand on Tri Trang beach is fine, grayish-white, and there are many small pebbles and shells near the surf line. The sea is shallow and you won’t be able to swim properly at low tide. But during high tide you can have great swimming. Be careful when entering the water, there are a lot of rocks and dead corals at the bottom.

The color of the water in the sea depends greatly on whether the sun is shining brightly and whether the tide is high or low at a given time. But the water here is definitely not as turquoise as, for example, on the beaches or.

Tri Trang Beach: features

1. The first and main feature of Tri Trang, for which many tourists choose it, is that there are no waves on this beach even in the low season. If you are looking Phuket beaches without waves, then come to Tri Trang Beach!

2. On Tri Trang Beach you can take photos and swim with little elephants. Cost 700 baht. To do this, you need to call the phone number indicated below in the photo.

3. Beach highly susceptible to tides, therefore, when going to Tri Trang, it is advisable to study the tide schedule. And then we somehow arrived, but it was impossible to swim!

Tri Trang Beach Phuket reviews

As I have written many times, the beauty of the beach greatly depends on the season, weather, and tides. Even the paradise ones look completely unattractive in the low season... Only the sea remained bright blue-turquoise even during heavy rainfalls.

Arriving for the first time at Tri Trang and finding the beach at low tide, we were very disappointed with the picture we saw: a shallow dirty yellow sea, a lot of stones at the entrance to the water.

Once we arrived at the beach at low tide. The sea is shallow, yellow, like a swamp. Didn't go swimming

A little later we decided to give the beach another chance and this time it did not disappoint us: at high tide the beach looks completely different 🙂 And on a sunny day the water in the sea turns a beautiful turquoise color :)

Tri Trang Beach on another day at another time :)
At high tide the beach looks quite nice :)

There are now two hotels operating on the beach itself:

One of the buildings of the Tri Trang Beach Resort

Next, the main thing is not to miss the not very noticeable sign for the Tri Trang Beach Resort hotel and the sharp descent down. You can park your bike near the hotel, but there is almost no space for cars. Or ride a bike along the path to the left and go to the sea in the center of the beach between two fences.

Sharp and steep descent to the beach
To the right is the entrance to the hotel, and to the left is the descent to the beach
You can turn onto the path and get out almost in the center of the beach, leave the bike there and walk a little to the side
