Due to the relatively small size of Hungary, the domestic aviation network is not very developed. Regular flights operate from Budapest to Segez and Pecs. Travel by rail is especially popular: trains regularly run from the capital to almost all destinations throughout the country. The railway network is owned by a state-owned company, so ticket prices are stable and relatively low. You can buy tickets on the day of departure at the station.

In some cases, traveling between cities is more convenient and faster by bus. To do this, you need to ask in advance what type of transport is best to use in a particular case. Despite the fact that traveling by bus is more expensive, it is as comfortable as other travel methods. In addition, minibuses flying to the airport of the capital - Ferihegy have a free wireless Internet network. Internet access is also available on most intercity buses.

There is a ferry service between cities located on the Danube coast.

It is advisable to use taxi services when traveling within the city. The final cost consists of mileage and waiting costs.

    • We do not recommend trying to travel on public transport in Hungary without a ticket; the ticket inspectors will not forgive this. We also do not recommend going on holiday to Hungary in your own car; there may be problems with parking. Basically, you pay for parking for 1-2 hours, and then you have to run to your car to extend your parking. If you still decide to drive your own car, then fasten your seat belts, even in the rear seats. Fines on the roads of Hungary are very high, up to 1000 euros, and in the future they may affect the decision to issue a Schengen visa.

How much does a holiday in Budapest cost? April 2018.

tour cost

My husband and I decided to celebrate our five-year anniversary of marriage in beautiful Hungary. We traveled by bus from Lviv, the journey cost 65 euros, we spent three nights in Budapest, breakfast was included in the service, the room cost 90 euros. We ordered a tour from a travel agency, and they selected a suitable option for us, which included excursions around the city.

We were pleasantly surprised by the hour-long, night trip along the Danube, the price was 15 euros.

Food and products

We had lunch and dinner in local cafes, the dishes were prepared with special love, prices range from 5 to 20 euros. It’s more difficult with alcohol; good wine cost us from 5 euros per bottle. We visited shops and wanted to taste the sausage, the price of which ranges from 3 to 45 euros, cheese and flour. My husband focused on canned beer for 80 cents, I preferred to taste wine for 2 euros. We don’t smoke cigarettes, but we were interested in the price, quite expensive – 2.5 euros.

Souvenirs and other goods

We couldn’t come home without souvenirs, so we took inexpensive ones for 1.5 to 2.5 euros. To have time to visit different places in the city, we used a taxi service, drove about 20 km, and paid 5 euros. The impressions from the trip were the most wonderful.

Holiday impressions in October

Lake Heviz is a truly worthwhile resort for treating health (especially traumatic problems, as well as women’s and skin diseases), where you can swim all year round in any season, so it’s worth going there when you are absolutely determined to undergo treatment. October is quite a good period for a trip to Heviz - the heat has already subsided, the lake is hot, there are fewer tourists (although there are more elderly people), and the neighboring locations are beautiful - Lake Balaton, Budapest.

I probably think June is the ideal time (there are no tourists yet, because all foreigners like to vacation in July-August), but it’s already warm and green, because October can be more disappointing with the weather.

Family holiday

This resort is an ideal place to relax with your spouse. Get healthier and take a break from the bustle of the city. But the treatment really should be approached in a comprehensive manner, and in some way force the husband to go for procedures (and not just take baths in the lake). I believe that it is better not to take children to this resort - after all, the composition of the water in the lake is too saturated and is of no use to a growing body. And Lake Heviz is also not suitable for youth recreation (with a group of friends), since, for example, consuming even a minimal amount of alcohol before swimming in the lake is not recommended.

Recreation for the elderly

This resort is a Mecca for elderly foreigners from Western Europe due to the excellent treatment results and low prices. But I would like to draw your attention to the fact that swimming in the lake has a number of contraindications - cancer, problems with the thyroid gland and heart failure. Therefore, the decision to go to Heviz must be approached very responsibly, so as not to cause harm.

Holidays alone

A solo holiday is probably the best type of holiday on Lake Heviz. If you do not suffer from loneliness and know how to entertain yourself in the absence of loved ones, then I recommend going to this thermal resort alone. Then you will be able to absolutely concentrate on your feelings, take baths, do mud applications, hydromassage, without being distracted by your other half or friends.

Where is the best place to stay?

The best hotel on Lake Heviz is Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa - 5*, its cost is quite high 170 euros for two, but this includes half board and free sleepover at the hotel. But it’s not worth that kind of money; there are much cheaper options. For example - Palace Hotel Hévíz costs 80 euros (buffet) 500 meters from the lake. It was important for my husband and I to have free parking, so we lived a little further from the lake, in 1.1. km, in the Larisa Villa apartments for 50 euros for two.

The town is small, and the lake is the main attraction, so when choosing a hotel, do not think about the distance to the lake, everything is within walking distance. Evaluate based only on budget and need for a spa.

What to do at the resort?

There is only one activity at the resort - health improvement. The cost of visiting the lake is approx. 9 euros for 3 hours, all day 14 euros. But the point is that healthy people should not swim in it for more than 1.5 hours, and sick people for more than half an hour. Therefore, purchase the minimum ticket and save. And it’s better to spend it on wellness (5-7 euros). You also need to purchase a cabin, the cost is 1000 ft (approx. 3-4 euros).

From excursions, you can take a walk to Lake Balaton, or go to Budapest on a sightseeing tour. But I recommend doing it yourself, and not buying tours from hotels. It is better, having arrived in Budapest, to spend a day on the Hop on Hop off bus, going around all the popular tourist spots, getting off wherever you want, regardless of the group.

Advantages of a holiday in Heviz

Holidays at Lake Balaton are a great opportunity to relax and take a break from everyday work. Pros: accessibility and efficiency. Prices for accommodation, food and procedures do not reach any exorbitant criteria. The service is excellent, the professionalism of the massage therapists and wellness workers is high, and there is no intrusiveness in the provision of services.

Disadvantages of holidays in Heviz

The disadvantages of the holiday are the lack of good cafes (with European, not traditional Hungarian cuisine), and some distance of the resort from civilization, so to speak. But for people who go there to improve their health, this is even a plus.

The walk covers, of course, not...

“Europe is decorated with three pearl cities: Venice on the water, Florence on land and Buda on the mountain,”- wrote medieval travelers, and anyone who comes can be convinced of the truth of these words!

The tour of Budapest consists of two parts: in Pest and Buda.

You will get acquainted with the history of Hungary, admire the beautiful Parliament building, and visit the central Catholic church of Budapest Basilica of St. Istvan. You will see "Champs Elysees» Budapest - Andrássy Avenue, which is also listed UNESCO on the world heritage list. We will visit Heroes' Square - the largest and most beautiful square in Budapest and its surroundings. There, during a walking tour, you will see the largest spa in Europe - the thermal bath...

City of Eger, lying in a picturesque hilly area between mountains Bükk and Matr and, with its glorious historical past, abundance of ancient monuments, famous wines and healing thermal waters, it is one of the most visited Hungarian cities by tourists. In terms of the number of architectural monuments - there are 175 of them - Eger ranks third in the country, second only to Budapest and Sopron.

Main attraction Egera- built in 13th century fortress, which in 1552 withstood the siege of the Turks, despite the enemy's sixty-fold superiority in strength. This put an end to the myth of the invincibility of the Turks. Classic in style Eger Cathedral is the second largest religious building in Hungary.

Really the best hotel prices

Travel The World answers the question of when is the best time to go to Hungary for vacation, excursions and getting to know local customs and traditions.

Hungary is an amazing country of contrasts. If you decide to visit this country, it is recommended to take into account the time of year in which the trip will take place. Typically, the most popular time of year to visit the country is spring. However, you should not focus solely on these three months, because Hungary can offer you a wonderful holiday at any time of the year.

Spring is the most optimal time to visit the country due to several features:

  • The air has not yet had time to warm up quite strongly and remains at approximately a comfortable level of +24...+26 o C. At this time of year, the Hungarian steppe is incredibly beautiful, and the cities are just beginning to fill with greenery and life;
  • Hotel occupancy rates and room prices are relatively low at this time of year.

The same comfortable conditions await tourists in early autumn. In addition to the wonderful weather, there are also various autumn holidays, for example, the grape harvest. The water in Balaton is still warm and allows tourists to bask in its waters, tasting the beautiful fruits of their land.

The optimal weather of the autumn-spring period is also favorable because you can calmly and without any special worries enjoy various excursions and hikes in the ancient land, without languishing from the summer heat.

Budapest is best visited from late spring to late June. July and August are very hot and not every tourist is able to endure the scorching heat of the Hungarian sun. Since the end of April, Budapest has become the main cultural capital of Europe. Various fashionable events take place here, including Formula 1 races, which often makes it impossible to rent rooms or make restaurant reservations, unless, of course, you have taken care of this much earlier. Naturally, prices skyrocket during this period.

In summer it is also customary to visit Balaton and the thermal resorts of the country. Neat, few beaches, crystal clear water, swimming pools and healthy outdoor baths make this country very popular at this time of year. For lovers of more active types of recreation, there are numerous stud farms, fisheries, and eco-farms. In addition, the Hungarian land is famous for its shipping season, which usually starts in April and lasts until the end of September.

As for the winter period, you should visit the country during the New Year and Christmas holidays, when the cities are simply transformed, becoming like a fairy-tale scenery. But you should take into account the weather conditions of this time of year, as a rule, winter in Hungary is cold and windy, which is why many entertainment centers and restaurants stop working, transport runs only on time, and in general, life in winter in Hungary is the height of calm and comfort. But there are also advantages: at this time of year you can try the extreme types of recreation that the country offers - swimming in the cold in healing hot springs to the accompaniment of young wine and wonderful music.

The most unfavorable time to visit such a beautiful country as Hungary is late autumn and very early spring. The end of November and the beginning of March, first of all, is repelled by its weather conditions - incessant rains and cold winds; and, secondly, the entertainment program at this time is very scarce - all museums, parks and attractions are closed for a while, which makes visiting this country quite boring in early spring and late autumn.

👁 Do we book the hotel through Booking as always? In the world, not only Booking exists (🙈 for a high percentage from hotels - we pay!). I’ve been using Rumguru for a long time, it’s really more profitable 💰💰 than Booking.
👁 And for tickets, go to air sales, as an option. It has been known about him for a long time 🐷. But there is a better search engine - Skyscanner - there are more flights, lower prices! 🔥🔥.
👁 And finally, the main thing. How to go on a trip without any hassle? Buy. This is the kind of thing that includes flights, accommodation, meals and a bunch of other goodies for good money 💰💰.
