As stated in Wikipedia, the courier service DPD (Dynamic Parcel Distribution) is an international express delivery service. It operates in more than 40 countries, including Russia. At first glance, it seems that this is a professional company that has been operating for more than 20 years around the world, but this is only the first impression. After meeting it personally, we can only say that this is the worst courier service in Russia, which blatantly fools the citizens of the country.

It’s worth noting right away that this article, which is a review, is based solely on the author’s personal experience. Without going into too much background, the author bought himself a MacBook Pro 13 (2017) with a 512 GB drive on Tmall (the Russian version of AliExpress), thanks to a special offer. cost just over 115,000 rubles. This is significantly cheaper than in other stores where you can purchase a version of this laptop certified for the Russian market with a warranty from the manufacturer.

The order on Tmall was placed and paid in full on the first day of the promotion - December 4, that is, on Monday. The order was received and assigned to the DPD courier the very next day, that is, December 5. It is very important to note here that the MacBook Pro purchased as part of a temporary promotion is located in a warehouse in the city of Kotelniki, that is, next to the Moscow Ring Road and next to the popular Mega Belaya Dacha shopping center. Since the author lives in Moscow, and even not far from this place (24 km directly), it is obvious that the goods can be delivered within one hour if you have a car.

Thanks to the fact that Tmall immediately issued a tracking number for tracking the parcel on the DPD website, it was possible to monitor the movements of the parcel directly in real time. According to the data on the website of this courier service, we are talking about the DPD Online Express delivery service, which guarantees delivery of goods to the buyer within 1-3 days throughout Russia. This means that if the company received the parcel in its hands on December 5, then it must return it to the recipient until December 8 inclusive - this is the maximum period.

Until the first half of the day on December 6, everything was fine, but then the author, who was hoping to get his hands on a MacBook Pro on that day, received an SMS message with the text “Unfortunately, your order from AliExpress cannot be delivered today.” The message did not arrive early in the morning, but only in the middle of the working day - at 14:18. It also said that the order would be delivered the next day. Since delivery is carried out from 9:00 to 18:00, it actually turns out that the author just spent the entire first half of the day in vain.

Obviously, since some problems arose on December 6, the order is guaranteed to be delivered on December 7. However, on this day (at 14:13) a similar message was also received with the text “Unfortunately, your order from AliExpress cannot be delivered today.” As a result, delivery was again postponed to the next day and another working day was lost. At this point the author’s nerves could no longer stand it and he wrote to the DPD technical support service on the social network Facebook. The complaint sent through the company’s website has still not been answered (almost three days have passed).

My parcel 815602***** was supposed to be delivered on December 6, that is, yesterday. Last night I received a message saying that the package could not be delivered on that day. Delivery time has changed to December 7th.

A few minutes ago I again received a message that the package would not be delivered on December 7th. As a result, it should be delivered on December 8th.

Are you unable to transport a parcel from one part of Moscow to another in a few days? What's the problem? You are paid money to deliver packages, and not apologize every day for the inability to deliver.

I had to write to the DPD support service again, which is open until 21:00. The message was sent there at 20:59, but the answer did not arrive until Saturday morning (September 9).

At this moment it became clear that there was no point in further communicating with the support service, and there was no point in this at all. She doesn't know anything and can't do anything. She never said anything worthwhile. It is important to note that for the delivery of this product from Tmall, the “Weekend Delivery” service is activated, which guarantees delivery on these very weekends. However, as can be seen from the correspondence, this service does not work at all.

As a result, it turns out that the DPD courier took the parcel, which was supposed to be delivered on December 8, but then he simply disappeared somewhere. The company will no longer be able to contact him until Monday. They don’t care at all why the courier didn’t deliver the package at all, which they had to wait for a whole working day, and even until late at night. There is of course a possibility that the MacBook Pro will be delivered on December 11 (Monday), but for some reason it’s hard to believe.

It turns out that the maximum delivery times within DPD Online Express by the time Monday arrives will be violated twice as much. A whole week will pass from the moment of payment to the moment of potential receipt of the goods. The DPD courier service doesn't care about the "Weekend Delivery" service. The author lost a full day of Friday (December 8th) and is now guaranteed to have to spend at least one more full working day waiting. This is a real scam on the part of the courier and the entire company as a whole.

So it turns out that DPD is the worst courier service in Russia, which blatantly fools the citizens of the country. First, they receive messages that, due to unknown circumstances, the parcel cannot be delivered for two days in a row, and on the third day the parcel is not delivered at all, but at the same time they promise to deliver it until late in the evening. All this time - not a word from the courier. Support blames everything on high workload. Even if this is true, this is clearly not a customer problem.

If a person is very busy and does not pay off his loans on time, what will happen next? – he will be charged additional interest. Everyone must fully fulfill their obligations, no matter what situations arise. Everything would be fine if on Friday morning the DPD courier called by phone and said that the order most likely would not be delivered or would be delivered late in the evening (after 22:00). In this case, it could at least be called a simple human approach, and not blatant deception.

By the way, there are similar reviews on Tmall for other versions of MacBook. For example, DPD couriers delivered a parcel to a resident of St. Petersburg from a warehouse in Moscow in 6 days, which, to put it mildly, left him completely dissatisfied with. Disgusting package delivery service, not much more to say.

Update December 12, 2017: The situation took a completely unexpected turn. On Sunday morning (December 10) at around 12:50, a polite courier called and asked when he could deliver the parcel to the author of the post. He was told - preferably during the day, but then he clarified - at what time specifically. This was a pleasant surprise. As a result, we agreed that he would deliver the parcel 1.5 - 2 hours after the call.

There were doubts that something would “go wrong” again, but at approximately 14:30 he called again and said that he had arrived at the presentation site and would now ring the intercom. The parcel arrived without any problems - the courier needed to show his passport, then write his full name, date of receipt, time of receipt and sign on a special piece of paper.

The entire package from Tmall is sealed with branded protective tape, and the packaging is quite dense and reliable, thanks to which there was not a single scratch on the Apple box that contained the MacBook. As a result, if not for the problems with delivery, the DPD courier service would definitely have proven itself well, but alas, this was not destined to happen.

It is clear that during the period of some promotions and New Year's sales, delivery times for all courier services increase. The main complaint against DPD is that three times they gave hope that the parcel would be delivered on the same day, but on Friday (December 8) they had to wait until late at night without leaving the delivery location. All it took was just one call from an employee who would promise that the parcel would be delivered on a specific day and at a specific time.

By the way, there is a feeling that this article, which has been viewed by more than 1,600 people since its publication, contributed to the solution to the delivery issue. This is indicated by the fact that the support service in the chat reported on Saturday that the status of the parcel will be known only on Monday, and the parcel will not be delivered at all on the weekend. However, a kind and polite courier delivered it on Sunday morning, which is a little surprising.

It’s impossible not to notice that even though it’s Tuesday (December 12), the tracking number on the DPD website still shows the package in the “Delivery to recipient (Moscow)” state. However, this is no longer so important, since the long-awaited parcel was nevertheless delivered to the place of delivery. Exactly 6 days passed from the moment of payment to the moment of receiving the parcel.
