Description of the beaches in Lloret de Mar. Pros and cons of holidays in democratic Lloret de Mar - reviews from tourists. Entertainment and sports clubs

Lloret de Mar is a resort on Spain's Costa Brava, renowned for its sophisticated appearance, rich history and vibrant nightlife.

Beaches of Lloret de Mar

Lloret is probably the most famous beach in the resort. It is located in the city center, stretching for 1.5 km, and is almost always filled with people. For local residents, this place is dear to its history, since it was here that maritime trade was active in ancient times.

Tourists will enjoy an abundance of entertainment, including yacht rentals, sports grounds, water skiing and parasailing. Those who like a less active holiday can visit the restaurants on the embankment.Â

Near Lloret is the beach of Sa Caleta. It welcomes guests with clean golden sand and waters that remain calm even in strong winds. Here is also one of the attractions of Lloret de Mar - the residence of an industrialist preserved from the Middle Ages.

Natural monuments of Lloret de Mar

On a steep cliff lies a picturesque architectural and park ensemble - the Gardens of Saint Clotilde. This is a complex of terraces connected by stairs. Here you can forget about time, wandering among sculptures, open galleries, fountains and grottoes, or having a picnic on a cozy lawn. On weekends, the park offers excursions.

Architectural monuments of Lloret de Mar

One of the main attractions of Lloret de Mar is the Castle of San Juan. It was built in the 11th century to protect against pirates. Today this ancient building has become a symbol of the city.

An interesting local attraction is the Modernist Cemetery, which is an open-air museum. Tourists can look at the tombstones and crypts of recent centuries, and also read detailed explanations about the meaning of this or that architectural element on the plaques installed next to them.

An amazingly beautiful place in Lloret de Mar is the Church of San Roma. Once upon a time it served as a reliable refuge, protecting against enemy attacks from the sea. Later, the church was rebuilt several times, each time acquiring the features of some new style and culture. Today the building is decorated with mosaics and looks like a fairy-tale castle. There are several restaurants in the courtyard where you can sit in silence and have a snack.

Museums of Lloret de Mar

One of the most visited museums in the city is Morskoy. This place boasts a huge variety of exhibits telling about the history of maritime affairs and water transport. The exhibition is located in a 19th century building.

Another symbol of Lloret de Mar are the cats, which can be seen everywhere. In their honor, the “Cat House” museum was even created, which occupies three floors and includes more than 2,000 exhibits, including drawings, jewelry, figurines and household items.

Cafes and restaurants Lloret de Mar

The cozy Mas Romeu restaurant has been around for 30 years, having gained great popularity both among local residents and travelers during this time. Everyone here will find something to suit their taste - aromatic meat, exotic seafood or traditional vegetables. For couples in love, the staff organizes a romantic evening on the terrace.

Nightlife Lloret de Mar

Privé Disco is a fairly famous and very pretentious club where DJs call themselves kings of the night. The place is open to visitors throughout the year, welcoming guests not only with discos, but also with various festivals and concerts of performers with live music. Weekly parties are held with free drinks and the latest music industry news.

St.Trop Club is considered one of the best nightclubs in the city, despite its considerable age - the place is over 50 years old. There is a huge dance floor with modern DJ sets, and three cozy lounge terraces.

An equally popular venue is Colossos, a discotheque whose program is often held right on the coast. Themed parties, performances by famous DJs, laser shows and even large-scale festivals are also often organized here.

Resort center of Costa Brava

Lloret de Mar is a party town on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. A developed tourist infrastructure with many bars and discos, picturesque landscapes, well-groomed beaches, and close proximity to Barcelona have made this resort popular among tourists.

“The resort is good. The beaches are clean. Public transport runs regularly. Prices in supermarkets and cafes are low. Set lunch with drink - 10 euros. Table wine in the store - 2-4 euros. Everyone enjoys life and relaxes. Walk down the street even in a swimsuit - no one will look askance.”

Here are some landmarks with distance:

  • Barcelona - 75 km;
  • Girona - 30 km;
  • French border - 100 km.

“We chose Lloret de Mar as the starting point on our travels. The only inconvenient thing is that there is no direct train connection to the resort. From Barcelona you need to take a train to Blanes for about 1.5 hours, and then change to a bus and drive another 20 minutes. It’s more convenient to take a direct bus from Barcelona.”

If you would like to travel independently from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar and back, then read our recommendations. You will find a lot of useful information in them and learn what you need to pay attention to while traveling in Spain.

Climate

Lloret de Mar, like the entire Costa Brava, differs from other resorts in Spain in its cooler climate. The tourist season here lasts from May to October, when the thermometer remains at 25-28°C. Comfortable months for swimming in the sea are from the second half of June to the first half of September.

Temperature forecast for the tourist season in Lloret de Mar.

“We always go on holiday at the end of the season. We arrived in Costa Brava in October. Lloret de Mar was already completely empty, which made me feel sad at times. The weather let us down: out of 14 days, only 4 were sunny and hot.”

“We arrived in Lloret de Mar at the beginning of June. It was too early for swimming. So we took a car and took a tour of Spain. We also swam in the sea, but at the end of the vacation, when the water warmed up a little.”

Beaches

The central part of the resort is centered around the long (1.5 km) but narrow (40 m) municipal beach of Lloret. Nearby, the calmer Fenals beach stretches 750 meters along the coast. There are also small beaches Sa Boadella, Santa Christina, Canyelles. All of them are equipped with showers and changing cabins, you can rent a sun lounger and umbrella (5 euros). There are conditions for windsurfing and parasailing here, and pedal boat rentals are available.

There are many vacationers on clean and well-kept beaches.

“The beach has very coarse sand, it is easy to shake off and does not leave dirt. The entry into the sea is smooth, but after 50-100 meters it becomes very deep and a strong current appears. I do not recommend this place to families with children.”

“We often went to Sa Boadella beach. It is small, surrounded by rocks and pine trees. Very beautiful! There are nudists sunbathing at the far end of the beach.”

Sa Boadella beach is surrounded by forest and cliffs.

Rental of property

Lloret de Mar is a budget resort with no frills and luxurious service. Mostly three-star hotels operate here, which are standard buildings with a small area and a swimming pool. You can also rent apartments. Fenals is considered a fashionable area of the city. We invite you to take a virtual walk through its streets.

“The center seemed very noisy to me. And there is nothing there that is worth settling for: no shopping, no attractions, no authentic restaurants. Therefore, we rented an apartment in the new Fenals area on the outskirts. Very neat, quiet, green area with nice buildings. All around are picturesque landscapes, a long embankment, and a pine grove. There are supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. We walked to the center of the resort, about 10-15 minutes.”

Entertainment

One of the favorite places of entertainment for children and adults is the gnome park.

“Lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs everywhere. Prices are very, very affordable, even at the current euro exchange rate. Russian speech is understood everywhere. The restaurants serve delicious food, and almost everywhere there are great deals on set lunches. I liked it at La Parilla. The portions are huge, and they also bring compliments from the establishment. You can go to the Gran Casino for flamenco.”

“Pleasure boats depart from the central beach to neighboring Tossa de Mar, Blanes and back. A round-trip ticket costs 15 euros, the sailing time is about 50 minutes. I advise you to take a trip to Tossa and get acquainted with the flavor of Mediterranean Europe.”

Picturesque Tossa de Mar.

“One of the features of the resort is the largest water park in the Costa Brava, Water World. There are a lot of slides and other water activities for adrenaline junkies. The coolest one is the diving tower. There is a separate playground for children - a whole island. There are cafes and you can sunbathe or have a picnic on the lawns. So I advise you to go and have fun for the whole day. We paid 65 euros for a family ticket (2 adults + child). You can get there by free bus from the bus station.”

Attractions

Tourist, lacking polish and authenticity, Lloret de Mar is, however, proud of its thousand-year history. A small fishing village that has grown into a famous resort has its own treasures.

A 10-minute walk from one of the main beaches of Lloret de Mar is this secluded place - Cala dels Frares.

Castle of Sant Joan

Medieval defensive fortress of the 11th century.

Fortress of Sant Joan.

“Perhaps this is the main architectural attraction and decoration of Lloret de Mar. The castle is built on a hill, with a pedestrian road running along it in the rock. Climb up to take photos and view the wonderful seascape. There is a fee to enter the castle, but there is nothing inside except a spiral staircase. Another symbol of Lloret is the modern private castle Castel d’en Plaj.”

Gardens of Saint Clotilde

National treasure of Catalonia. The Renaissance style garden was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by the Marquis Roviralt in honor of his late wife.

Alevtina:

“Be sure to take a walk through the wonderful park. The ticket costs 5 euros, but it will more than pay for itself. By the way, my husband and I were offered a discount at the checkout, taking into account our retirement age. A very well-kept old park with many levels, secluded corners, interesting sculptures, and fountains. It's so nice to escape the midday heat here. From above you get great photos of seascapes. One caveat - the park is on a slope, there are a lot of stairs.”

Statue of Donna Marinerra (fisherwoman)

Bronze sculpture from 1966 by Ernest Maragall. Installed on a rocky hill above the sea in honor of the wives of sailors.

The statue of a woman is imbued with anticipation and concern for those at sea.

Olya:

“Previously, the entire male population of Lloret was engaged in fishing. A very touching sculpture conveys the anxiety and hope with which the sailors’ wives went out to the sea and peered into the horizon.”

Modernist cemetery

The peace of the dead is protected by statues.

“I’ve never visited cemeteries on vacation, but after reading the reviews, I decided to take a look. You could say this is an open-air museum. Monuments on the graves of noble people were made by famous architects. Each tombstone not only contains the name of the person buried, but also indicates the architect or sculptor who designed the burial.”

The Salvador Dali Theater-Museum is a place where all the exhibits evoke conflicting feelings. A place thoroughly saturated with the spirit of adoration and worship of the genius Dali to his muse - his wife Gala.

“I liked two trips most of all - to and to. We got to the museum on our own by bus with a transfer in Girona. To visit the monastery, we first went to Barcelona, and from there by train to Montserrat. Both trips on public transport were very tiring. If finances allow, it’s better to take a tour or a taxi.”

Shopping

“You can’t buy anything in Lloret de Mar except magnets. For brands, it is worth going to the La Rocca Village outlet, which is halfway to Barcelona. This can be done by car or by purchasing an excursion from a tour operator. The operator issues coupons with a ten percent discount and an outlet card.”

“We went shopping in Andorra. We left at 5 am and returned around 9 pm. The bus dropped us off in the capital of the principality, where stores of famous European brands are located. Prices are lower than in Barcelona."

A trip to the south, to the sea and sun, for many is not just entertainment, but a vital necessity, because in fact only here you can enjoy truly warm days, plenty of solar ultraviolet radiation, breathe healing sea air, saturated with iodine and healthy salts, taste natural vegetables and fruit literally from a garden bed or tree. In connection with this beneficial effect on people’s health, holidays at the seaside resorts of the Black and Azov Seas are always in great demand.

It is worth considering that the most popular months for holidays - July and August - are not as good as it might seem at first glance. At this time, in the southern regions there is often extreme heat, up to +35, +40 degrees, which is difficult for visitors from the northern regions. Prices for housing, food and all services on the coast at this time are at their highest. The number of people and cars is going through the roof, and vacation is already losing its original meaning. The ideal time to travel to the sea is May, June, September and October. During these months, you can truly comfortably spend time at the resort without overpaying. Yes, it is possible that on some days you will not be able to swim in the sea, but you will be able to devote more time to active recreation and excursions.

And even in winter it is quite possible to go on vacation to the sea, because large resort towns (

Located in Catalonia on the Costa Brava, the resort town of Lloret de Mar is a very popular holiday destination among Russian tourists. In most information sources, it is positioned as a youth resort with a densely populated beach, night bars and crowds of drunk teenagers. However, this information is not entirely correct and only applies to one central area of Lloret de Mar.

In fact, the resort of Lloret de Mar consists of two parts, Lloret de Mar itself (on the map on the right), and separated from it by the hill of the Fenals district (on the map on the left).

Lloret de Mar beach (1) is sandy, the depth begins quickly, however, as on most other beaches of the Costa Brava. At the height of the season there are a lot of people on the beach, and along the entire embankment there are hotel buildings. The place is suitable for those who are not particularly interested in natural beauty, but the main thing is to be in the midst of their own kind. The beach is windy and there is nowhere to hide on it in bad weather.

Separated by a small hill, the Fenals district is a quieter and more fashionable place. There are fewer hotels in this area, and the long sandy beach (2) is cleaner and does not have a wall of hotels along it. There is a sports ground next to the beach, and pine trees grow along the beach. At the end of the beach there are usually very few people.

This beach, like the central one, is open to waves and wind, but if you go to its end, you can find a small cove there that is completely protected from the wind and waves. Walking along the rocks a little further along the coast, you will find small bays (3) where you can spend time without crowds.

Further behind the hill on which the Gardens of Saint Clotilde are located is Sa Boadella Beach, indicated on the map as number four. According to many, this is the most beautiful beach not only in Lloret de Mar, but on the entire Costa Brava.

Boadella Beach is partially protected from the wind and is comfortable to be on when other beaches in Lloret de Mar are blown by strong winds. The sand is coarse and does not stick to the body. The beach is conventionally divided into two parts, the part farthest from the entrance is occupied by nudists. There is a cafe, shower and toilet on the beach.

The map below shows the best route to this beach from the Fenals area. Depending on the location of the hotel, the distance to Boadella will be one to one and a half kilometers. From the central area of Lloret de Mar, the walk is significantly further, but you can get to the Gardens of Santa Clotilde by bus. You can walk along the path on the mountain above the beach and admire the beautiful views of the coast from there.
