It’s unlikely that anyone could have imagined then that a future great director would be born in such a place, who would make a huge contribution to world cinema and become the winner of five Oscar awards and the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

The San Giuliano area has always been the director's favorite place. After Federico Fellini achieved fame, this quarter became famous and was completely transformed over time.

Fellini loved to come here, plunging into an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, enjoying solitude with his love, Giulietta Masina. It was in the San Giuliano area that the director dreamed of buying a house to rest peacefully in his old age. Fate turned out to be such that he was able to buy a house here, but, alas, he was no longer able to live in it. The famous house of Federico Fellini is located at Via San Giuliano, 71 and now belongs to his nephew.

June 2016 gave us an entertaining and therapeutic journey through the beauty of Italy. In order not to go just to gawk at the sights of antiquity, of which there are thousands in the Italian storerooms (Vatican, Colosseum, Palantine...). We decided to combine therapeutic procedures at thermal springs and an excursion program to the local beauty.

Italy is one of those few countries in the world with open spaces where you can relax, both with children and newlyweds. The Cote d'Azur Italian coast, the Ad Hoc restaurant, cozy little cafes on Piazza di Spagna and the historical archive of attractions will not let your imagination get bored.

Where is the best place to stay?

My husband and I were on holiday in San Giuliano Terme – a 5* hotel. This is a famous Italian balneological resort. I chose a program for the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. The issue of the problematic condition of the lumbar spine worries now every second person. Treatment here is carried out using thermal springs that have a certain chemical composition of water molecules. It normalizes blood circulation in small vessels and dilates them, restoring optimal blood flow. The treatment is worthy, although the price for it is a stinging 100,000 for two for two weeks with therapeutic procedures (mud, medications, massage, baths). The nature here is simply magnificent. The location of the sanatorium is the province of Pisa. A cute, cozy town at the foot of the Apennine mountain range.

We went to the sights on our own, renting a car. To do this, we simply went to the reception, and an hour later the car was already standing near the entrance. Leave a deposit of 100 euros and you're good to go.

Walking inside, you take your breath away, as if you are in the 14th century - the Renaissance. The faces of Jesus Christ and his companions look at you from the frescoes around. The scale of these paintings is amazing. Personally, I can’t even imagine how you can paint the ceiling of a chapel for several years while lying on your back. Michelangelo is a titan. You can look at his paintings for an eternity, and every time you will find something new for yourself. In any of them, a secret meaning is veiled under a layer of oily gestures.
