Among the hotels are:

Vogue Resort & Spa Ao Nang 4 is located 25 km from the airport in the Krabi province of Thailand. Most rooms have views of the Andraman Sea. The hotel has its own Thai restaurant, which seats 120 people.

Finding a hotel, and accommodation in general, in Krabi will not be difficult: there is a lot of accommodation, you can choose by price and location. Prices depend on location, rental period and living conditions. For example, a one-room house with a bathroom costs from 6,000 - 8,000 baht per month.

Transport

In Krabi province, the most common mode of transport is water. In addition to public ferries and speedboats, you can rent a boat or speedboat here. They are easy to reach places that are not accessible by land or just for fishing. The approximate price for renting a boat is 1,500 baht per day.

Songthaew

Songthaew is a vehicle that looks like a pickup truck, into which a bench and roof have been installed. In total, there are 3 routes of this transport on the island of Krabi. There are no usual minibus numbers here; it must be identified by the color of the songthaew:

  • Blue and red - travel from Krabi town to the Tesco hypermarket and back. The price of a flight ticket is 40 baht.
  • Blue with colored stripes or just white go to Ao Nang through the airport. The ticket price is 60 baht.
  • Brown songthaews will take you from Krabi town to the central bus station, from where you can get to any corner of Thailand. The cost of such a trip is 20 baht.

All these routes definitely pass Krabi and Maharat streets, where you can ask to stop to take a photo as a souvenir. At the final stations, songthaews stand for at least 20 minutes until the cabin is filled with people. No, they don’t wait for the bus to be completely full - they will still pick up everyone along the way.

Taxi and motorcycle taxi

Taxis in Krabi are usually red. Prices, as everywhere else, are negotiable. Be sure to bargain before getting into the car: the amount may differ from the original by 2 times. In general, focus on standard prices for the entire island: 300 baht to any beach from Ao Nang, 500 baht from Krabi town to the bus station or airport. Drivers here don’t care how many people they carry: so you can gather a small group and split the bill equally.

The most popular mode of transport in Krabi is songthaew or tuk-tuk.

Motorcycle taxis are a type of transport that you will not find on the streets of an ordinary city. Here you are offered a ride on a motorcycle on the back seat. Right in the open air of Krabi town. Motorcycle taxis are cheaper than taxis, but more expensive than tuk-tuks, the typical cost of a trip is from 150 baht.

Knock Knock

How can you imagine Thailand without tuk-tuks? Basically, this is the same as songthaews or trucks converted into pickups: it fits 2 benches facing each other.

Not all drivers here understand English well, it’s better to show everything on the map.

You need to agree on the cost of the trip before getting on the transport, so that there are no incidents later. Tuk-tuks are suitable for short walks: moving from one beach to another, visiting a disco or restaurant.

The minimum cost of the trip is 150 baht. If you need a driver for the day, don't be afraid to ask him for it. Here, an option for hourly cooperation is possible: the price for such services is 180 baht per hour, for the whole day, on average, about 1000 baht accumulates.

Map of attractions and beaches of Krabi

There are beaches in Krabi for every taste; you can read more about each of them here: The best beaches in Krabi. And if you’re tired of lying on the beach, it’s time to go explore interesting places and attractions. They are also marked on our map.

In Krabi, on Ao Nang beach, a lot of photos.

Krabi is a province located in the south of Thailand off the coast of the Adaman Sea. The capital of the region is the city of the same name Krabi. Unfortunately, there is quite a lot of false information on the Internet, one of them is that Krabi is an island, know that this is not true, it is a province and a city located on the mainland.

The town itself is relatively small and, as it seemed to me, very calm, there are almost no foreigners living here for a long time. On weekends the streets are very quiet, there are practically no cars. As local residents told me, this is because these days people go on vacation to the islands, Phi Phi, Koh Lanta or the nearest beaches of Ao Nang or Railay. The city itself seemed uninteresting to me; living or vacationing here simply makes no sense. Therefore, I went to Ao Nang beach.

The road from Krabi town to the Beach takes about 40 minutes, the price for a motorbike taxi is 80-100 baht, as agreed, for a large tuk-tuk (as in the photo below) about 40 baht per person (from the port on Phi Phi).

There is also a tuk-tuk driving around the city, which will take you to Ao Nang for about 20 baht, but I didn’t know where to look for it, since I was already lost and the best solution for me was a motorbike taxi.

Ao Nang District- This is a tourist place, so there are enough people here, both locals and visitors. Ao Nang turned out to be a very compact place, which you can get around in 2 hours visiting all the streets.

Along the main streets there are shops, cafes, restaurants, as well as massage parlors and excursion bureaus.

Prices here are slightly higher than in Pattaya, for almost everything: massage, food, motorbike rental.

For example:

  • Prices start from 350 baht, although you can find it for 250 baht. In one of the salons I decided to try a local massage and was very disappointed, it was simply terrible, I don’t remember the name of the salon.
  • The price for renting a motorbike starts from 250 baht per day(machine).
  • Price per hotel room 550 baht.
  • Food on the streets from 70 baht per dish, in a cafe around 250 baht for one.

I tried the local street food in makashnitsa, which is prepared by a father and son on their motorcycle, photo below.

What’s noteworthy is that they have a menu in English, as well as photos of Thai dishes.

Since sometimes there is a queue, you have to wait until there is space at the counter attached to the motorbike. And here is my dish Pad Grapao Kgun.

As I already said, this entire structure is completely attached to the motorcycle, I have never seen anything like this in Pattaya.

Almost everything closes around 00:00, but a few establishments are open - a bar/cafe with live music and a few shops.

What I also really liked were the local taxis, they look like this:

There is almost no prostitution, bars or discos here, so there are a lot of foreigners with families, as well as young backpackers.

You've got a rough idea of the area, let's now talk about the sea and the beach.

Photo of the sea and beach of Ao Nang

The sea here is Adaman, but unfortunately not azure (July, August).

As you can see, the sea near the shore is not azure at all, it’s cloudy, apparently it’s not the season. But despite this, the nature here is amazing.

They say that the best time to visit Krabi is from November to February.

Closer to the rocks, you can see many wild monkeys.

I'll come closer to them.

Very close.

It turns out they are quite arrogant here, they almost took my backpack and room keys!

IMPORTANT! Do not feed, touch or show your teeth to monkeys.

But the woman was less fortunate; they took her corn and umbrella...

If you go a little further, you can see monkeys swimming, fighting and just sitting and waiting for passersby.

After bending the rock along the path, you will find yourself on the territory of the Centara Hotel.

As soon as you cross the path, a checkpoint will appear in front of you, where you need to enter your data and time of entry into the territory, and mark the exit when leaving.

Unfortunately, here too the sea turned out to be very muddy and wavy.

Food is delivered by sea, since there is simply no road to the hotel, it is located between the rocks.

Upon returning back, bending the rock along the path, I was met by monkeys, it looked like they were waiting for gifts...

Back at Ao Nang beach it started to rain...

To be continued…

In addition to the mainland, Krabi province includes about 200 islands of various shapes and sizes. Some of them are typical cliffs rising above the surface of the sea, others have gorgeous beaches suitable for swimming. Many islands are in great demand among divers due to the rich underwater world and clear water. By visiting one of them, you can not only diversify your vacation, but also enjoy the picturesque landscapes of wild, untouched nature.

The small island of Poda is located south of and is part of the Krabi province. There is practically no infrastructure on its territory, except for a small bar with soft drinks, several gazebos and a toilet. What makes it especially colorful is the rock sticking out of the water a few tens of meters from the coast.

The area of the island is small, you can get around it in literally 15 minutes on foot, which is why people come here simply for a heavenly holiday, to spend several hours on a snow-white beach by crystal clear water.

If you decide to visit Poda Island on your own, it is better to go there either early in the morning or after 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Since the rest of the time its beach is crowded with tourists coming as part of excursion groups.

Very close to Poda Island there is a small Chicken Island, named for its unusual shape. Its length is about a kilometer, its width is half that, and at the same time it has a coastline of 3 km. In the southern part of Chicken Island there is an interesting rock, shaped like the head of a chicken or turkey. The most interesting thing is that the silhouette can only be clearly seen from a distance, especially when it appears on the horizon.

Scuba diving is practiced within the island. Its rich underwater world and clear water will give you the most unforgettable experience of exploring the underwater world. The highlight of Chicken Island is its sand spit, which appears at low tide and serves as a land bridge between Chicken Island and Poda.

17 kilometers from the coast is the excellent island of Hong, suitable for a secluded holiday, away from the crowds. There are no attractions here, but, nevertheless, hundreds of vacationers come here every day. Pelai Beach, with a length of 400 meters, is considered one of the most beautiful in the province. There are no sun loungers or umbrellas here, and you can hide in the shade of the tropical vegetation that occupies most of the island.

It was here, on Hong, that the famous film “The Jungle” was filmed with the participation of Vera Brezhneva and Sergei Svetlakov. In addition to the richest flora, on the island you can find various living creatures, among which monitor lizards stand out. They can reach up to 2 meters in length and go to the coast without any fear.

Tab Island

Not far from Chicken Island is the tiny uninhabited island of Tab. Its territory is so small that it will take several minutes to walk around it completely. But, nevertheless, even with such characteristics, there is a small bar on the beach with soft drinks and light snacks.

Often excursion groups come to the island, and then its beach is simply overcrowded with tourists. If desired, you can reach the neighboring Chicken Island by water (during low tide). The depth on the spit will be no more than knee-deep. Within the island of Tab there is a very beautiful color of the sea, varying from light blue to emerald. This is a great place for snorkeling.

More Island

The Talay Waek sandbar connects Tab Island to Mor, so they form an amazing “complex” that attracts hundreds of vacationers. You can see the spit in all its glory only at low tide, which is why you need to choose the right time for your trip. But even if you visit the islands at high tide, the sea level will still make it possible to cross from one shore to the other.

The island of More attracts with the abundance of its underwater world. Thanks to the crystal clear water, you can see many representatives of the underwater world even without a mask.

When planning a trip to the islands, do not forget to bring special shoes in which you will walk on the sand. This is necessary in order not to injure your feet on coral fragments.

Phi Phi Islands

Krabi Islands on the map

On this map I marked all the islands described above.

The abundance of islands around the mainland of Krabi province provides the opportunity to diversify your holiday. Tourist trips on speed boats are organized daily to each of them. Their snow-white beaches and especially beautiful sea will give you not only vivid memories, but also many beautiful photographs.

It is during this period that prices are the most reasonable. This is due to the fact that the nights are quite cool. Although during the day the weather is ideal and there is no rain.
