Scheme of terminals A, B, C, F of Boryspil airport, Kyiv

Terminal F - Boryspil Airport, Kyiv

general information

Total area: 20685.6 m2
Capacity: 900 passengers/hour (for departure) and the same for arrival; at peak times, the ability to service up to 1,500 passengers/hour (per departure).
The entire terminal area is equipped with a visual information system (aircraft schedules, arrivals/departures boards, other information necessary for a passenger in the airport complex).
In terms of engineering infrastructure, the terminal is equipped with modern equipment to ensure comfortable climatic conditions for passengers and visitors to the terminal.
All directions of passenger movement in the airport complex according to the technological flow diagram are understandable and simple.
The area per passenger (both in the check-in area and in the waiting area). meets international standards.
On the 2nd floor there is a mother and child room: it provides passengers with small children with the necessary conditions for child care.

Registration area

30 check-in counters with a baggage supply and weighing system, 1 counter for passengers with oversized luggage, 2 customs clearance counters.
It is equipped with Web kiosks that allow the passenger to register independently, which speeds up the registration process and prevents the formation of queues.
Equipped with all the necessary equipment and software that allows any airline to register passengers and baggage in the corresponding system of its company.
It has a number of advantages compared to terminal complex B:
- large area of the hall, the ability to carry out registration impersonally,
- taking into account the capabilities and area of the baggage sorting area, check-in is carried out not 2 hours before departure, but 4-5 hours.

Aviation security control zone

A significant feature is that, in addition to traditional procedures involving control of hand luggage using X-ray television installations, stationary and hand-held metal detectors, body scanners have been introduced for the first time in Ukraine, which allow a passenger to undergo inspection within 2-3 seconds without removing outer clothing.
All areas of the terminal are equipped with a modern video surveillance system (digital cameras provide video surveillance to ensure aviation security, and also monitor technological processes).

Controlled area

Meets all the requirements for a comfortable stay for passengers. Baggage sorting and control area
During the design, it was taken into account that this area should provide sufficiently comfortable conditions for personnel, including aviation security and customs personnel.
A special feature is that the air baggage security control system uses equipment and technologies that were first implemented in Ukraine:
- a three-level aviation security control system, which provides for automatic (at levels 1 and 2) control of baggage contents;
- the system is equipped with a program that allows up to 75% of baggage to be controlled automatically, which greatly reduces the influence of subjective factors - the load on the aviation security control operator is reduced, his functions are to carry out control in the corresponding area of the system using an additional X-ray television device, and if necessary, check the contents of the luggage in the presence of the passenger.

Arrivals area

The red and green corridor zones are clearly defined. In the baggage claim area there are 3 carousels, the dimensions of which allow the baggage claim of a passenger arriving at the airport to be issued in a shorter time.

station Square

The parking lot for 340 cars is equipped with a parking management system, which will streamline the provision of services for transporting passengers by taxis and buses. The system allows you to clearly control the provision of these services only by companies that have appropriate agreements with the airport.

Good day to all. Now it's time for my first review. In total, two airlines fly to London from Boryspil: British Airways to Heathrow (one flight per day) and UIA to Gatwick (2 flights per day). My choice was UIA due to the lower ticket price.

Here is some brief information about the flight.

Departure date: July 17, 2014
Departure airport: Boryspil, terminal D
Airplane: Boeing 737-900ER UR-PSI
Flight: PS-111 departure at 10:00
Arrival airport: London Gatwick, South Terminal

And now let's talk about everything in order.

Road to the airport

You can get to Boryspil by bus, which departs from the central station. The fare is 60 hryvnia. Or by taxi, the cost of travel from the center of Kyiv is approximately 200-250 hryvnia. In the future they are going to build an Aeroexpress, but now this issue is not relevant in Ukraine. I got to the airport by car. The road to Boryspil in the morning is empty, I got there in 20 minutes.
We are approaching the airport

On the left there is construction going on for what appears to be a multi-level parking lot. And then there is an interchange, terminal D to the left, and terminals B and F straight ahead.

We go upstairs to the international departures area D. It is on the second floor. In front of the terminal there is a bus stop coming from Kyiv.

And so we arrived at the terminal.

Airport "Boryspil" terminal "D"

Boryspil Airport is the main air harbor of Ukraine. The base carrier of the airport is UIA. In 2013, it served slightly less than 8 million passengers. Currently there are two passenger terminals D (all international flights and charters) and B (domestic and charter flights). A bus runs between the terminals every 15 minutes. Starting from October this year, they plan to transfer domestic flights to Terminal D. There are 11 jet bridges in Terminal D. I arrived 2:15 before my flight.

Login to the terminal

And the area in front of him

I go into the terminal and look at the scoreboard. In the morning, most UIA flights take off.

Since I arrived at the airport before my friends, I had time to walk around the terminal.

Airline representative offices

Waiting area and cafe

Registration counters and UIA representative office

Self check-in kiosk

Luggage packing station

And then my friends arrived and it was time to check in for the flight. After standing in line for 15 minutes, I received my long-awaited boarding pass. Unfortunately I got a pass.

And then I go to passport control, where again I stood for about 15 minutes

Having gone through all the airport formalities, I finally find myself in a clean zone. In Terminal D, the length of the gallery reaches 870 meters. My previous visit to Terminal D was last summer and there have been significant changes. Several duty free shops and cafes have been added. I quickly found my gate and now I have 30 minutes to walk around the airport.

Duty Free stores.

Terminal gallery with panoramic windows offering a beautiful view of the airfield.

Mostly the sides of the UIA fell into my lens. Over time, Turkish and Aeroflot arrived, but unfortunately it was not possible to photograph them

One of 5 Embraer 190s in the UIA fleet.

Well, of course, the basis of the fleet is the Boeing 737.

And then our plane taxied to the jet bridge and service immediately began. Loading power.

Waiting areas.

Despite the construction of the terminal and the large number of morning flights, the airport gallery looks empty.

Smoking area.

Next to our plane is a brother Boeing 737-900 UR-PSL.

And then I decided to walk to the other end of the gallery. But unfortunately I didn’t find anything interesting there
Duty free.

Boeing inherited from Aerosvit.

Kingdom of Ukraine International Airlines.

And then it was time to board and I rushed to my gate.

In airplane

As I already said, we got a Boeing 737-900ER UR-PSI for the flight. Received direct from the factory on July 26, 2013. At the time of the flight, the plane was exactly one year old. Fortunately, this is one of the few UIA aircraft that has a normal cabin layout with 189 seats.
And so we boarded the plane. Leather chairs, blue. The plane still smelled like a factory. Perfect condition.

View from my seat in economy class.

And then, half an hour after landing, we took off, 15 minutes later than scheduled. Unfortunately, there won’t be many views from the window, because I wasn’t sitting by the window.
After takeoff, I began to study the contents of the pocket.

Safety instructions

And here is a page in the magazine about the UIA fleet

The overhead panel is standard on the Boeing 737NG

There is enough legroom

And about an hour after takeoff, the most delicious part of this flight began, namely the serving of breakfast. There were 4 flight attendants serving this flight, 2 in business and 2 in economy. The availability of food was a surprise for me, because UIA introduced paid meals in March 2014. On flights up to 180 minutes only tea and coffee are offered. The duration of this flight is 3:15 minutes so we were offered potatoes with scrambled eggs and tomatoes, fruit for dessert and a bun with butter.
Of course, this is modest for this flight, but still better than nothing. The omelette and potatoes were hot, which was nice.

Well, here is the paid menu. Soon they will have to introduce full-fledged paid meals; if I’m not mistaken, it will cost 9 euros.

After breakfast, the captain got in touch and told us some interesting information about the flight. The flight took place at an altitude of 10,400 meters, a speed of 740 kilometers per hour, and we flew over countries such as Ukraine, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and England.

Now there will be several views from the porthole.

They also turned on the Sky Interior lighting, which made me happy.

Well, the commander announced the landing approach. I handed the camera to my friend who was sitting by the window and he took a couple of good pictures.

Near London

A few seconds before rfcfybz.

And now we have successfully landed at Gatwick Iternational airport. The landing was perfect, thanks to the crew.

Gatwick Airport.

And now we are already rolling down the runway.

Reverse and airbrakes in action

Gatwick is the realm of Virgin Atlantic, easyjet and British Airways.

We managed to photograph Caribbean Airlines 767 :)

And 737 Meridians

And so we taxied to the telescopic bridge. Next door A319 Air Malta and Virgin Atlantic

As soon as we stopped, most of the passengers stood up, although we could still sit quietly for about 10 minutes.

The road from our gate to passport control turned out to be very long. We walked for about 10-15 minutes. I liked the presence of travelators at the airport.
Arrival board.

I manage to take one last shot of the dreamliner and the 747 and my phone dies

And then there was a huge queue at passport control in which we lost about an hour. And so I got my luggage and I’m in London.

Results:

Overall I was pleased with the flight. Terminal D of Boryspil Airport is developing, it is no longer as empty as it was before, cafes and shops are appearing. True, this year Emirates stopped flying to the airport, and Norwegian Air Shuttle and Swiss announced that they would close flights to Kyiv from October.
UIA showed itself to be a very good airline on this flight. New plane, ticket price lower than that of a competitor. The service on this flight was relatively normal.
I didn't like Gatwick airport because of the huge queues at passport control and the very confusing layout.
OK it's all over Now. Thank you to everyone who will pay attention to my review. In the next review I will describe Gatwick in more detail.
Goodbye.

The main “air gate” of Kyiv is, of course, Boryspil. Every year there are departures and landings from different parts of the world. If you look at Boryspil Airport on a map of Kyiv, you will see that from above it looks like a giant map with the letter “N”. The layout of Boryspil airport is not as complicated as many other airports.

In fact, it consists of only one operating terminal - Terminal D of Boryspil Airport. The remaining terminals are not intended for passenger transportation or are closed. Terminal D now serves both domestic and international flights. However, the plan of the Boryspil airport terminals will be useful in that you will definitely not get lost if you know it.

The airport was founded in 1959, when it was decided to create a new airfield on the basis of the Boryspil aviation detachment. In the summer of the same year Passenger transportation to Moscow and St. Petersburg began.

Six years later The opening of the new Boryspil air terminal took place. Since 1980 Flights of the USSR's top leadership began to take place. And since 1993 it was declared an independent airport of Ukraine.

Now It is the country's largest airport by passenger traffic. 62% of all shipments in Ukraine it falls on this airfield.

Airport location

It is located in the city of Boryspil, 18.5 km, east of Kyiv. In time this will be from half an hour to a whole hour drive to the airport.

A photo of Boryspil airport is presented below.

Terminal C was only for VIP flights, and F. was for . Now both no longer work. The latter is planned to be rebuilt for freight transportation.

Terminals E and BW are cargo terminals.

Terminal D

This is the largest airport terminal in the entire territory of Ukraine. Was opened in 2012. It is perfectly equipped. There are many check-in counters - 66. Of these, 6 are for online check-in. It also has options for passengers who would like to travel in special comfort.
