Nha Trang is the capital of Khanh Hoa Province. This province is located in the southern part of Vietnam (although administratively it is considered the central province).
Therefore, from Nha Trang it is closest and relatively quickest to get to the southern cities.
Main routes in the south of Vietnam:
- Nha Trang – Phan Rang – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet
- Nha Trang - Saigon - Mekong - o. Phu Quoc – Cambodia
- Nha Trang – Saigon – Cambodia
- Nha Trang – Saigon – Malaysia – Singapore – Indonesia
Route Nha Trang – Phan Rang – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet
The simplest and shortest route from Nha Trang towards Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is a trip from Nha Trang to Phan Rang or Mui Ne and Phan Thiet.
Nha Trang – Phan Rang
Phan Rang is a small town located about 100 km from Nha Trang. Tourists come to this city primarily for a beach holiday.
There are several hotels in the city that fully satisfy the needs of tourists.
The most interesting places are the central square with a historical museum and a monastery on a hill called Truc Lam Vien Ngo Zen.
A trip to the salt fields nearby the city will probably be interesting. 400 hectares are allocated for salt extraction.
The largest salt production is controlled by our compatriots.
Otherwise, there is nothing to do in Phan Rang except the beach and walking. The main conditional advantage of Phan Rang over Nha Trang is said to be relatively less rain and a calmer sea.
In fact, this is very conditional and not always the case. And given the fact that Phan Rang has less entertainment compared to Nha Trang, Phan Rang is not the best place for people who are inclined to travel.

Nha Trang – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet
For many compatriots, Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are inseparable points, but there is a difference between them.
Phan Thiet is a city vaguely reminiscent of Nha Trang, but simpler (more boring). Mui Ne is a district of Phan Thiet,
which is 6 km from Phan Thiet. Mui Ne is a quaint village with one main street where all the restaurants, shops and hotels are located.
Why do they go to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne, and not to Nha Trang? The answer lies in the fact that in Mui Ne compared to Nha Trang,
there are hotels on the first line of the sea. As you know, in Nha Trang the beach is located across the road from almost all the hotels in the city.
Mui Ne is also attractive because it has excellent conditions for different types of surfing. That is, there are good winds and waves for this sport.
But there is also a minus for hotels on the first line. Due to strong waves, most hotels have concrete fencing.
Very often the sea approaches the very edge of this concrete fence, which is why the beach is completely invisible, and you descend straight into the sea from this concrete fence.
The most interesting things to see nearby: Mount Ta Ku, sand dunes.

The Mekong Delta is a vast area in the south of Vietnam, which is penetrated by a network of canals and branches of the Mekong River.

The cost for these routes one way is 8-12 USD per person, travel time to the closest city to Ho Chi Minh My Tho is 3 hours,

Recently, this island has become popular among Russian tourists, thanks to its excellent beaches and comfortable weather all year round.
If you go from Nha Trang to Phu Quoc Island, then such a trip can be combined with a visit to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and/or the Mekong Delta, or even combined with a trip to Cambodia.

If you plan to visit only Phu Quoc Island, then the priority will be the air route via Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Moreover, if you have intentions after Fukuoka to move to neighboring Cambodia, which is very close,
then it will be more convenient to do this through Ha Tien and further to the Cambodian city of Kep and/or Kampot bordering Vietnam (see route below)

How long does it take to get to Nha Trang?
Ways It doesn’t take long to get to the city or your hotel:
Getting to Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet well known to tourists - its beautiful beaches attract more and more people. It is also popular among lovers of active activities - in Phan Thiet you can go surfing and explore the underwater world.
Distance from Nha Trang Airport to Phan Thiet: 243 km. The journey will take a little over four hours.
You can get there by:
Bus. If you choose to go by bus, you will have to make two transfers. First you will take a bus to Ho Chi Minh City (it is important to know that buses leave until 12 noon), from there you can go directly to Phan Thiet. Let it take about 5 hours.
But it’s worth taking a bus like this, believe me! Because it is equipped with beds, in English - sleep-bass. In addition, there is air conditioning, a toilet and other conditions for a comfortable trip. A ticket for this wonderful bus costs $7.
- By train. There is a morning train and an evening train from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet. Cost – 16 dollars. When choosing a train, check where it will stop. And remember that the train does not stop in the city itself, but 15 km from it. Therefore, you will have to take a taxi.
- Taxi. This method will cost a tourist a lot - more than a hundred dollars. Many travelers do not recommend it because the traffic is the same, and you will have to pay a lot.
Vietnam is a country of sun, smiles and beautiful beaches. But like in any country, certain rules must be followed on its territory. The memo issued at the airport of arrival will tell you which ones. Besides:
- When going to Vietnam, buy a Russian-Vietnamese phrasebook or, if you don’t know English well, Russian-English;
- Better yet spend money on a taxi with a fixed fee. It takes a long time to get there by public transport;
- Get health insurance;
- Put it in the first aid kit anti-diarrhea and insect repellent ointments;
- Drink only bottled water. Vietnam has bad water;
Important! Don't try to hitchhike. Locals rarely pick up travel companions, which means you will waste your time.
- Exchange currency You can do it right at the airport building, there is an acceptable rate there.
Have a nice trip!

The Vietnamese resorts of Nha Trang and Phan Thiet (Mui Ne resort area) are without a doubt the most popular and visited places in Vietnam, especially among Russians. This is not surprising, because both resorts have good beaches and well-developed infrastructure. Prices for both package tours and costs for a self-organized trip to one or another resort are approximately the same. There is only one problem left - choosing the right one for yourself if it is not possible to visit both in one trip. Below we have tried to objectively compare these two places to make it easier for you to decide. But first, some brief information about these resorts in a few sentences:
Nha Trang. This is a fairly large city, by Vietnamese standards, and the capital of the province. It is located in the south of central Vietnam, so it is simultaneously classified as both southern and central Vietnam. The city has a well-developed infrastructure: many hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops. There is a compact tourist area with a large number of hotels. There are many attractions and entertainments in the city and nearby. The beach is mainly within the city limits, but there are also beaches further away from the city, where they also have their own hotels.
Detailed information for tourists about Nha Trang is here.
Phan Thiet. The city of Phan Thiet is located in the southern part of Vietnam. This is also a fairly large city. But the city itself is of little interest to tourists, since there are no beaches there. The bulk of tourists go on holiday in the resort area of Mui Ne, which belongs to Phan Thiet. This area stretches along the beaches in the form of a long chain of hotels, cafes, restaurants and shops. Local residents hardly live in this area; almost everything there is built for tourism and comfortable recreation. There are no attractions in the resort area itself, but in the surrounding area there are several interesting places (quite far away) where you can go with a tour or on your own.
The distance between Phan Thiet and Nha Trang is 230 kilometers.
Where are the best beaches?
In both resorts, the beaches are considered to be of good quality (but far from ideal). Don't expect a bounty-style beach from any of these places: they are far from it.
Nha Trang is a fairly large city, and its main beach lies within the city limits. It is long, the sandy coastline is quite wide. It can be called clean only with a big stretch, although the beach is cleaned and tidied up. On the beach there are sun loungers for rent, some standard water activities in the form of a banana boat, a parachute, and jet skis. In addition to the city beach, there are several beaches with hotels remote from the city. They are cleaner, but there is no infrastructure there.
Phan Thiet There are no beaches at all in the city of Phan Thiet. The resort area of Mui Ne stretches along the beaches for almost 10 kilometers. Along its entire length, the quality of beaches varies greatly. In some rare places there is no sandy beach at all, but instead a reinforced concrete descent into the water, so choose your hotel in Phan Thiet carefully so that you don’t have to walk far to the nearest sandy beach. Also, the cleanliness and quality of the beaches here greatly depend on the season: in the low season, the beaches are less cleaned, and strong winds and waves bring a lot of garbage. Large waves make the beaches in Mui Ne sometimes simply unsuitable for swimming, but ideal for surfers and kiters.
There are several more beaches (resort areas) to the south of Phan Thiet. These beaches are considered cleaner because expensive hotels are located here and are constantly cleaned. But the atmosphere here is almost rural; there is no infrastructure outside the hotels.
