Kumkoy Hotels. Side

Hotels in the village are very different. Like most resorts in Turkey, there are also fashionable hotel complexes with many services, and small economy class hotels.

As already mentioned, hotel prices in Kumkoy are slightly lower than in other areas of Side. Well, within the village, prices, of course, also differ depending on the category and location of the hotel.

Entertainment and shopping in Kumkoy. Side

Among small Turkish villages, Kumkoy is definitely the leader in terms of entertainment.

In addition to entertainment and sports programs on hotel grounds and beaches, the village has many discos, clubs, cafes and restaurants. The city seethes all night, calming down only at dawn.

Fans of raiding stores will also be delighted. By and large, with the exception of the beaches, Kumkoy is one big bazaar. Shopping centers, a variety of shops, souvenir shops.

Kumkoy beaches. Side

The beaches of the village are worthy of all praise! The wide coastal strip is covered with amazing sand, which is not such a common occurrence on the shores of Turkey.

A gentle and comfortable entry into the water, a smooth increase in depth - all this is ideal for a holiday in Turkey with children . Only in hotels, the last ones in the direction of Side, can there be stones at the entrance to the sea.

Since there are a lot of party-goers in Kumkoy, who, as a rule, are still sleeping in the first half of the day, in the morning there are not many people on the beaches at all.

Well, as in all popular villages of Side, all the most interesting things are presented on the beaches of Kumkoy water activities, attractions, and beach sports.

Where is it located?

The village of Kumkoy is located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey in the resort of Side. Only three km separate it from the city of Side and 70 km from the airport Antalya.

Sights of Kumkoy. Side

Kumkoy cannot boast of such gorgeous greenery as, say, the villages of Sorgun or Titreyengel, but overall it is quite picturesque. However, there are no attractions in the village.

Located almost in the center of the Side coast, Kumkoy is an excellent starting point for traveling around interesting places region. Ancient cities, natural beauties and much more... Read more

When you enter the word “Kumkoy”, Google and Yandex maps display an incomprehensible village; it has nothing to do with the resort described in the article.

Reference! So that the reader does not have any confusion, it is worth starting with the fact that in Turkey there are two places called Kumkoy: the first of them is a tiny village 20 km east of Antalya, and the second is resort area near the city of Side. It is the second village that we will talk about.

Kumkoy is a resort area along the beach of the same name in the western part of Side, 3 km from the center. Geographically, it belongs to the village of Ilica, but travel agencies and local residents for a long time .

This area stretches along the beach for 1.5 km, its borders lie between the Side Royal Paradise hotel - in the west and Nova Park Hotel" - in the east.

Kumkoy is an exclusively hotel village, there are no residential buildings in it. On its territory there are hotels of all classes and price categories, a chic and well-maintained sandy beach, a promenade and landscaped parks with shady plants, flower beds and fountains. Only there are no water parks.

Note! Some travel websites claim that Kumkoy is one of the centers. They say that young people from all over the area come here, and the noise of dozens of nightclubs does not subside until the morning. In fact, this is erroneous information.

Of course, there are discos here, but only on the territory of some hotels, not as separate establishments. There are also no bars or disco clubs here.. Therefore, Kumka is completely quiet place, where tourists who prefer a relaxing holiday like to settle.

Advice! As for discos, guests of Kumkoy go to Side for them if for some reason they are not having parties in their hotels.

Kumkou(Kumkoy), a village 5 km from the city of Side. Popular resort on the Mediterranean Sea, East Coast, 60 km from Antalya, 10 km from the town of Manavgat.

We vacationed in the fall of 2015, but we still didn’t understand where the border between Colakli, Evrenseki and Kumkoy was. It probably exists, like we have between districts, but only local residents and postmen know about it.

Our hotel, I wrote a review about it (link below), in the description on various sites is located in Evrenseki. Hotel guide wrote on the voucher - Colakli, and the inscriptions on the minibuses and buildings were - Kumköy. For example, there is a sign for Kumkoy Bazaar, right if you cross the river on the bridge, 200 meters from the hotel. Photo of the river from this bridge.

So, if you are considering the Side region, then pay attention to the address of your hotel, if one of these names is written - Colakli, Evrenseki, Kumkoy, then you will be somewhere close to the places that I am describing.

There are many hotels in Kumköy. Large, 4-5-6 storeys, with beautiful roofs that glow with lights at night.

There are no residential buildings, or rather they exist, but somewhere in the distance, near the mosque, which is across several roads (travelling) and where tourists do not need to go at all. By the way, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that of course there is a first line, but there are also many 2nd, 3rd and even 4th hotels that stand behind the roadway and the sea of many of them is not even visible at all, from them you can walk to he's not that close. But, of course, there is service; buses with tourists run constantly. But the eye won’t stop at anything, unless the hotel grounds are beautiful, otherwise you’ll be looking at vacant lots or the road.

The roads are paved with paving stones, neatly, even stylishly. This is probably distinguishing feature Kumkoy, like in Bodrum, has white marble paths.

So, having crossed the bridge over the river that flows into the sea, we see a hookah cafe, by the way, there are very few of them. Most likely because of the hotels themselves, they are all all-inclusive, mostly 5*, mostly Germans vacation there, in the fall there were elderly couples (mostly), who are already well fed, watered and entertained on the hotel grounds.

Passing by the Luna Blanca 5* hotel and the next one, exactly the same in appearance (which look at a vacant lot, I’m writing this for those who value the view from the window), then past the Side Paradise Hotel 4* (you won’t see the sea from it, for sure), you come to an intersection from which shopping arcades begin, where dolmus buses go to Side and Manavgat (3 liras or 1.5 Euros). There is a stop, you can recognize it by the letter D.

Shopping arcades. Everything is in the same style, two-story houses, the first floor is a store, and the second is a warehouse or the owner’s home. The sellers are unobtrusive, they immediately determine that you are not Germans, and do not persuade you to come in. Almost everyone speaks German, whether in hotels or on the streets. I never heard Turkish music, even when passing by a few cafes. They heard Julio Iglesias and other fashion hits.

By the way, supermarkets, chain ones like Migros, Genpa, etc. in Kumköy no. At first we searched and went around everything we could. But they asked at the hotel and they sent us to Manavgat, confirming our guesses that, alas, there are no such stores. Go there by dolmush, about 20-25 minutes.

They sell clothes in shopping arcades from AliExpress. Everything is from China. Without exaggeration. Sporting goods 80%, some sweets, souvenirs. Prices from 5-10 Euro. But we didn’t find standard towels and bed linen here.

A lot of Opticians. Just in every row. If I was surprised at the number of pharmacies and medical centers in Bodrum, then for some reason there are Opticians here. Maybe because German pensioners love to relax in this region so much and are intensively buying glasses?

In addition to rows of shops, there is a large shopping center, pompous, with columns. Inside there is a cafe and the same sporting goods. It looks like the Cherkizovsky market inside.

There is a clothing chain called Marla, several stores, but the prices there will scare away our tourists: 59-159 euros. But European women stand in line in the fitting room.

The streets are well-groomed, several fountains, even some idea with a sculpture of a man (slightly peeling, unfortunately). Beautiful bushes, all trimmed with care and skill.

During the day, the streets are empty, in the evening, after dinner, tourists walk around, buy sluggishly, but even rummage through the ruins. Everything costs 2 euros. The few cafes are empty. I didn’t see any discos at all. There is a big minus: in the shopping streets there is a strong sewer smell in the evening. It is neither from the river nor near the hotels.

I liked Kumköy because it was quiet and unobtrusive. There are a lot of dogs, both on the streets and near the sea, all with chips in their ears, all kind. Cats, a separate topic, are beautiful, fat, kind. Near each hotel there are houses for them and cat food, and in the hotel there is a box “for cats” where you can put some money.

I didn’t like that many hotels were located near the road, even expensive hotels. And the balconies are transparent. A huge minus, few people would like to come and relax and listen to passing cars all night. Well, a view (for aesthetes) of the road and the neighboring street, shops or a hotel of some kind.

So, if you decide to go to Kumkou, you most likely won’t regret it. The beach is sandy, the sea is shallow and clean. The resort is quiet, not youthful. Yes, there are no special beauties, the mountains are far away and are almost invisible in the haze, palm trees are only in the hotel areas, but there is a good promenade along the coast, with paths that are enough for everyone, both those just walking and those who are running.

But, here’s the thing, the promenade ends near the river in my photo and begins again only after a long distance, about 1 km (maybe more). So you can only get to Side along the seashore. Or partially along the shore, and then go to the promenade. It's a long time, 2.5-3 hours, no less.

I would also like to note the weather. We rested in the second half of October and it was +32 and a little higher, but without the stifling heat and humidity. Very comfortable. If you remember that in other regions you need a jacket in the evening even at the end of September, here I never put one on or put on closed shoes. So, as they write everywhere, Alanya and Side have the warmest climate in Turkey, and that’s true.

Pomegranate juice, just in season, was sold everywhere - a glass 1-1.5 euros.
