Extracting Legendary Properties

The quest to get your hands on Kanai's Cube is given by the spirit of Zoltun Kull, who is now located in the starting cities of each of the five acts. Zoltun takes us to a new location - the ruins of Secheron, where the developers' favorite method is to tell the story of Arreat and Kanai. After passing Secheron, at the very end we find the Cube, which immediately becomes available in the city.

The Kanai Cube has many properties and purposes, as well as two Easter eggs: simply decompressing the “Cow Berdysh” weapon without unnecessary ingredients will open a portal to the “Non-Cow Level”, and destroying the “Puzzle Ring” gives access to the treasury.

The first recipe in Kanai's Cube is quite simple, obvious, and has already gained wild popularity. The ability to extract properties from legendary items opens up incredible horizons and takes the game to a new level.

In total, we are asked to fill three slots:

  • weapon- two-handed, one-handed, spheres, amulets, shields, etc;
  • armor- clothes, belts, shoulders, helmets;
  • bijouterie- rings and amulets.​​

Kull's Law.

The second recipe promises us the reforging of a legendary item. It is not cheap and, in my opinion, not worth it at all.

So, “Kull's Law” changes all the properties of the legendary item. If Miriam’s reforging can no longer help, then Kanai’s Cube suggests radical measures. I was unable to change the quality of the items to “Ancient,” so the third recipe, “Deckard Cain’s Hope,” seems more profitable to me. And less expensive.

There is a mini-map in the upper right corner so we don't get lost. The controls are very simple and responsive: we click on any area and our character will move there. If you constantly hold it pressed, the hero will constantly run in the direction we need. We meet the first enemies - the rebels. Click on each enemy to destroy each one. Arriving in New Tristram, we communicate with Captain Rumford, who is standing at the gate. We ask him about the fallen star, he reports that it landed on the old cathedral, and the only survivor was Leah. Before talking to her, let's deal with the rebels. Then we can enter the city and get to the tavern. It is marked as an increasing circle on the mini-map. Nearby lies a chest (cache), inside which we will find two bottles of a weak healing potion. We enter the “Slaughtered Calf” and communicate with Leah, over whom there is an exclamation mark. During the conversation, nearby infected people will turn into undead. We destroy them and continue the conversation.

We go back to the gate and talk to Rumfoord. Then we go north and move along the path, simultaneously destroying many enemies, as well as the occasional cursed mothers. We only need to kill three to complete the additional task. We get to the ruins of Tristram and deal with the queen of the damned mothers. She's wandering around somewhere nearby. Next, we use the gate of wandering, select “New Tristram” and find ourselves in the city. We communicate with Rumfoord standing at the tavern and complete the task.

The Legacy of Deckard Cain.

Broken crown.

We pass through the northwestern gate and move along the path. We get to the cemetery of the damned and enter one of the accessible crypts, the easternmost one. We move along it until we find the passage to the second level of the crypt. Here we will meet a huge Fanatic. Having destroyed it, we will enter the adviser’s tomb. We get to the crown, and when we try to take it away, an angry adviser Eamon will appear. Let's quickly calm him down and take the crown. A new icon will appear at the bottom of the screen - teleportation. We move straight to the city and give the crown to Hedrig to repair.

Reign of the Black King.

We speak with Deckard. We need to go to the place where we saved the old man and open the passage leading to the royal tomb. We use the gate of wandering and move to the cathedral garden. Once inside, we unseal the patterned door and move northwest, breaking through crowds of enemies until we reach the third level. At the next level we meet dark sectarians who are performing a ritual on some person. We kill them and free the warrior. His ammunition is located nearby; after going a little to the north-west, he himself will lead us to the location of the chest with things. Now let's go together to destroy Yondar. He hangs out near the passage to the fourth level of the cathedral; you should still go to the northwest, avoiding the emerging abysses. Having destroyed it, we go down the stairs and move on. Moreover, we will have a choice whether to take the Templar with us or not. Extra hands wouldn't hurt, so come with us. This is the last level that will take us to the royal tombs. On the way to the chambers of the Skeleton King we will meet the most important enemy; we will need to destroy the columns in order to move on. Finding yourself at a dead end, go northwest and open the sealed door. It is not marked in any way on the map. All that remains is to get to the King’s throne and place the crown on his head. The Skeleton King comes to life and the fight begins. We attack him using all our skills. Constantly appearing small enemies will serve as a source of health restoration. After all, when they are killed, red objects appear, which precisely replenish the lost life. After the victory, we collect all the goods and enter the secluded chambers through the passage on the throne. Here we discover a fallen star, or rather a stranger, who is the same unknown object that fell from the sky. We urgently need to show it to Deckard. We use the gate of wandering, move to New Tristram and communicate with Deckard.

Stranger's Sword.

After talking with Deckard, we use the gate of wandering and find ourselves in the Cemetery of the Damned. We go northwest and find ourselves on the Lost Fields. We are looking for the lair of the Khazra. Inside we meet sectarians conducting a ritual. After killing them, the witch Magda will appear, unwilling to give up part of the broken sword. We will take it by force, having dealt with a large number of sectarians. We return to Deckard and tell him about what happened.

Broken blade.

We speak with Leah and go through the gates of wanderings to the Lost Fields. We follow the arrow on the mini-map and meet the Scoundrel. He asks to help him free his fiancee, who has an expensive relic. We pass through the gate and deal with a bunch of bandits and their leader. Having freed the girl, together with the Scoundrel we get to the gate of wanderings, after which we can take him with us, replacing another companion - the Templar. After just a few meters we will find ourselves in the flooded temple, communicate with Alaric and follow him.

In the Rotting Forest we find the last refuge of the warriors, where we will find the Torch of Glory. Then here in the forest we will find the Crypt of the Ancients and inside we will take the Light of Hope. We return to the flooded temple and place the lights on the pedestals. Alaric says we can enter the temple. Here we deal with the enemies, first destroy the creators of ordinary skeletons, and only then kill the smaller enemies. Until we destroy all opponents, we will not be able to go further. Behind the next gate we see a shining fragment of a sword, and also meet Magda. She sets her charges against us, having won, we take the fragment and return to Tristram.

Wortem's fate.

We communicate with the stranger to find out about the location of the last fragment. Here in the city we will find a ferryman who can take us to Wortham. The city is on fire, and the area is full of sectarians. Destroying them, we make our way to the center. Here we will meet Magda, who will set even more enemies on us. When three berserkers appear at once, we retreat back, because if the three of them attack us at once, we may die. Next, we communicate with the Priest and follow him. He will open a path to the basement of the church, where the last fragment of the sword should lie. But he doesn’t end up here, since Magda managed to take him away. Moreover, this villainess went to Tristram and captured Deckard and Leah.

In the basement there is a gate of wandering, with the help of which we return to Tristram and enter Deckard’s house. The cultists are holding our friends. Meanwhile, Magda is trying to break the old man so that he can restore the sword. Her plans become known, she serves Belial, who needs this sword. The old man is not bowed down, then Magda strikes Deckard and he finally weakens. Leah breaks free, the frightened Magda runs away, taking the stranger with her. Finally, Deckard manages to assemble a full-fledged sword from the rubble, gives the right instructions on where to look for the truth, and dies.

In the footsteps of the Dark Cult.

We speak with Leah and go to Wortem. From here we will get to the caves of Arana. Inside we find the chambers of Queen Arana. Once there, we go to the woman shrouded in a web. Soon a huge spider will appear. This is another boss, it is destroyed quite easily. We attack with all our might, occasionally Arana will leave us, leaving her cubs as replacements. Having dealt with them, the queen will appear again. The most important thing is not to allow us to be squeezed into a corner. Thanks to its huge size, it does this with ease. Next, we free Karina, taking some poison from the puddle, and go forward to the Highlands pass.

Outside we communicate with the girl. She reports that she saw someone being dragged into Leoric's castle. We can go further by finding in this area a cart on which the Khazra staff is located. However, this staff does not have any magical properties, it is simply very necessary for the enemies on the other side of the gate. Next, we get to the castle and make our way inside, dealing with Magda’s minions, that is, the sectarians. They finally realized that contacting us is more expensive for themselves.

Captive angel.

We kill every single one and communicate with the wounded man at the door. Then we go down and find ourselves on the first level of the Halls of Agony. Then we look for the way to the next level and finally we get out into the Highlands pass. We get to the Cursed Castle, inside we communicate with the ghost of Queen Asilla, who in the past was the wife of Leoric. She asks to release the souls of six prisoners. They are all scattered throughout the hall. Then we go to the center and fight the Overseer. This is just a warm-up before the upcoming battle, so if we easily defeated this enemy, then we will cope with the next one with a bang.

We get to the Hall of Suffering and meet Magda here. She releases the next boss from the cage - the Butcher. The Butcher has versatile attacks, but he is most dangerous in close combat. Our character also fights well only at short range. No one will interfere with us, so we attack the enemy directly head-on. Occasionally we dodge his additional tricks, in the form of rams and dropping harpoons. Also, much attention should be paid to the floor. Some parts are flammable, and it is not advisable to be on them at this moment. For healing, there are two healing wells here, which are constantly replenished. Having destroyed the boss, we go further into the chambers of the doomed. We save the stranger from the sectarians and hand over the sword to the true owner. The angel immediately remembers everything - he is the archangel Tyrael from heaven, dispensing justice!

Return to New Tristram.

We enter the portal and find ourselves in the city. We communicate with Tyrael and together we come up with a plan for how we will deal with Belial. We speak with the caravan driver nearby and move on to the second act. New Tristran is cleared of enemies... for a while, we move into the hot and sultry Caldera.

Shadows in the desert.

We go forward and get to Leah. After talking with her, we go to the Kaldeisky Bazaar. Here we communicate with Ashira and, on her advice, we move through the desert canyon. Along the way we will meet a girl with an exclamation mark over her head. This means we can take her with us, extra help won't hurt. There are many enemies ahead of us; first of all, we destroy the deftly jumping monkeys. Having been ambushed, we deal with the sectarians. We speak with the spellcaster again, she will clear the way. We help the Steel Wolves squad destroy the enemies and then talk to Jarulf.

The next goal is to interrupt two rituals taking place somewhere in the desert. From the words of our companion, we learn that one of them takes place in the north, in the Hidden Conclave, and the second in the east - above the secret altar. We set off to explore the region, sooner or later we will notice footprints in the sands, if we walk along them, we will reach our goals. It is very easy to interrupt the rituals; it is enough to destroy all the sectarians. Having done this, we get to the bridge and communicate with the spellcaster. Then our paths will diverge, unless of course we want to take her with us as a companion.

Road to Alcarn.

Having crossed the bridge, we look for the Hasim outpost. It is located approximately in the north. Here we communicate with Lieutenant Vachem. Then we go down to the command center. We encounter Magda and her minions. We destroy them, open the cage and free the true warriors. We go outside and deal with the remaining opponents.

City on blood.

We speak with captain David so that he opens the gate leading to Alkarn. We pass through them and explore the area in search of Alkarn. The entrance to the city is guarded by a huge monster, we destroy it and go inside.

There are also many enemies here, as an additional task you need to free eight prisoners. This is easy to do, almost all the cells are nearby. In Alcarn we find the witch's lair, i.e. Magda. Finally we will deal with her once and for all. She herself doesn't pose much of a threat. But her slaves are quite capable of destroying us with a couple of powerful attacks. After depleting a quarter of Magda's health, slaves will appear. We run away from their powerful attacks and try to deal with them as quickly as possible. Magda will be protected at this time, so it is useless to attack her. Having destroyed everyone, we return to the Secret City. We communicate with Tyrael and find out how we can free Leah.

Audience with the Emperor.

We go to the Kaldeisky Bazaar and chat with Ashira. She will take us to the emperor, who in turn is unhappy with our presence. They bring Leah here and the fight begins. The guards actually turn out to be fake snakes. We deal with them and quickly leave this place. We follow the bridge, continuing to kill the snakes we encounter. Then we will need to destroy four devices so that we can move on. Finally, we get to the Kaldeya drain and find a hatch. Before we go down, we will deal with many enemies.

Unexpected help.

Let's move forward with Leah. We need to find the Cursed Pit. Let's go ahead and definitely get out to her. There we will find Adria, Leah's mother, captured by snakes. We free her and talk to her. Through the portal we return to the Secret City, where we can calmly communicate again.

Horadrim traitor.

Then we look for the head of Zoltun Kull in the area and take it. The Ancient Guardian will appear, whether to destroy it or not is a matter of choice. In any case, we will be able to teleport back to the Secret City. We communicate with Adria, then Leah activates her spell and Zoltun Kull appears before us.

Blood and Sand.

We communicate with Kull and ask him to activate the Black Soul Stone. In return, the traitor asks to revive him by extracting his blood from two different dungeons. Using the portal, we move to the Dalgur oasis. We are looking for the entrance to the ancient drain. He is probably guarded by strong opponents. After crossing the bridge, we will find ourselves at the gate, which Kull will open. Inside we will meet Hakan the second, he will tell you how we can open the gate of the flooded passage. To do this, you need to turn the lever of the western and eastern flow regulators. First of all, we get to the western regulator, pull the lever and from here we go to the eastern channel. Having passed through the portal, we find ourselves in the archive and move towards the Limit. From here there are several bridges leading to several portals. First, let's visit the Mysterious Abyss and, having found the Mysterious Abyss Castle, activate it. Then from the Reach we will go to the Halls of the Storm and similarly activate the Castle of the Halls of the Storm. We return to the Reach and enter the last central portal leading to the world of shadows.

We speak with Tyrael, go downstairs and enter the armory. From here we get to the main tower of the Bastion. We reach the sky-high walls, where we encounter serious resistance. We find all five signal lights, and set them on fire first, so that the guards will come running, at least some kind of help. Then we destroy the Demon Belcher and everyone else. Thus, we set fire to all five fires and go to Sergeant Dalen. Approaching him, a vision of Azmodan will appear before us.

They take by numbers rather than by quality. Therefore, we choose the appropriate skills. At the third level the situation changes dramatically. Huge Shakers rule here, which can perhaps only be slowed down in narrow passages. In an open space, if we are surrounded by a couple of them, then we obviously will not survive. We do not use the “Jumping Strike” skill, because it, on the contrary, moves us into the environment of enemies. In front of the pantry we will meet an even more terrifying monster. We step back and use our most powerful skill from the Fury category.

The Lord of Gluttony, Khom, awaits us in the pantry. His main weapon is mucus, which is dangerous in itself, and small slugs also appear from it. Despite their size, they can cause a lot of trouble. For example, they may block the path, and we will easily suffocate in Khom’s arms. Against the Lord himself, I used such skills as Call of the Ancients - summons three powerful heroes, Resistance to Pain - will help dull the pain from enemy attacks. Having won, we return to the Main Tower.

We go to the Arreat crater, from there we get to the Tower of the Doomed. Then the path is already known, we go lower and lower until we find ourselves in the Heart of the Doomed. Let's go even lower and get to the Heart of Sin. Cydea, the boss, will appear next to him, we attack her a little and she leaves the stage. We destroy the Heart of Sin and the daughters of Cydea. We descend to the next level of the Arreat crater.

We find the Tower of the Damned and move to the lowest level until we find ourselves in the Heart of the Damned. Here we will find the second Heart of Sin and a full-fledged battle with Cydea. The battle is nothing outstanding; instead of powerful attacks, the villain prefers to run away and set small spiders on us, which are destroyed perfectly. Having won the victory, we deal with the Heart and go further into the Bowels of Mount Arreat. Finally, we get to the Heart of Sin, where we have a fight with Azmodan. Let's beat him with everything we have. The greatest danger is the rain of debris caused by Azmodan. Before this, a circle will appear on the ground, which you need to quickly leave. Also, black circles will constantly appear on the ground, it is also advisable to run away from them. On the battlefield, portals will appear in different places from which demons appear. Azmodan also emits fireballs; it is better to avoid collisions with them. Having dealt with the enemy, we take his soul.

Thus, we get to the Library of Fate, where we fight with another servant of Diabla - Rakanoth.

We attack him as usual, trying to run away when the enemy flies into the air. After all, this means that now something bad will fly at us or a powerful blow awaits us. If our strength is running out, we can run back to the opposite side. For some reason the boss is passively hunting us. After the victory, we free Auriel and talk to him. We return to the Gardens of Hope.

As we remember, we could not get through the filth blocking the path. Now we must destroy them to find the Demon Rift. This rift can be under any evil. So we explore the entire area. Having found the portal, we go there and move towards the Eye of the Underworld. Next to him is the Hammer, a huge enemy that deals powerful blows. We use the Stomp skill to stun him for a while and thereby attack. Next, we get to the Eye and destroy it. Auriel will appear, through his portal we leave this place.

We meet with the angels led by the Empire. He has no intention of helping us, and soon collapses from lack of light. This only means one thing: Diablo is close and a decisive battle cannot be avoided. All responsibility falls on our shoulders! We speak with Tiarael and through the opened gate we enter the Crystal Arch. We go forward until we find Diablo.
