    Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa

Bao Dai Villas is not just a museum, but a whole tourist complex with a museum, a park and a luxury hotel where anyone can spend one or two nights. The Bao Dai villas were built in 1923 by the French scientist A. Creme, and a local gardener was involved in the arrangement of the park.

  • It would be strange to travel thousands of kilometers to end up in the Vietnamese resort of Nha Trang, and upon arrival spend all day by the ocean. Of course, the beaches of Nha Trang deserve all sorts of praise and attention: endless mounds of snow-white sand, the sparkling azure of the ocean, slender palm trees soaring upward - a truly heavenly vacation. But people come to Nha Trang not only for the beaches and sun, the city has a huge historical heritage, its architecture is extremely interesting, and its culture is original. Getting to know the sights of Nha Trang will help you immerse yourself in its special Asian atmosphere and discover an impressive number of historical and architectural monuments, interesting museums and religious shrines. Tourists with children will also find activities to their liking related to entertainment and education.

Getting to know the sights of Nha Trang will help you immerse yourself in its special Asian atmosphere and discover an impressive number of historical and architectural monuments, interesting museums and religious shrines.

    Religious monuments of Nha Trang

The real pearl of the city is the Catholic Cathedral, which amazes with its monumental architectural forms and original decorative solutions. This modern cathedral in the traditional Gothic style is famous for its colorful stained glass windows, bells and huge chimes made in France.

Other religious monuments of Nha Trang are also impressive. For example, the Cham Towers of Po Nagar, known as a place for Hindu religious ceremonies. Of the seven towers, only four have survived to this day, and the northern tower is of greatest interest - an excellent example of Cham architecture.

In the main hall of this tower you can see a statue of the ten-armed goddess Uma.

Long Son Pagoda is one of the attractions without visiting which it is difficult to get a complete impression of Nha Trang. It became famous among tourists thanks to the giant Buddha statue towering on the hill.

    Nha Trang Islands

Traditionally, holidays in Nha Trang include excursion trips to nearby islands. You will be enchanted by the paradise island of Khon Tam, whose name translates as Silk Island. On its western coast there is an ethnic village whose inhabitants are very hospitable and friendly. Here you can learn about the peculiarities of life and traditions of the inhabitants of the Vietnamese coast.

The most pleasant experience will be left by visiting Monkey Island, where more than 1,500 primates live in the natural conditions of the reserve. The trip to Hon Mieu Island, the main attraction of which is considered to be an aquarium made in the shape of a pirate ship, will also remain in your memory for a long time.

    Museums in Nha Trang

If you are interested in the lifestyle of the Vietnamese emperors, plan a trip to Bao Dai's villas. This is a large tourist complex that has an exquisite park, a hotel where anyone can stay, and a museum with an interesting collection of furniture, royal robes and personal belongings of the former owner of the villa, Emperor Bao Dai.

The Alexandre Yersin Museum will introduce you to the life and work of the famous Vietnamese scientist Yersin, who devoted his life to studying the microbes that cause the plague. The museum displays books, instruments, and personal belongings of the scientist.

And with the kids, you can safely go to the Institute of Oceanography, because here is not only a serious research organization, but also a huge aquarium with the inhabitants of the underwater kingdom. In addition, in the local museum you will see representatives of the deep sea preserved in alcohol and many stuffed birds.

The main pride of the Oceanographic Museum is the giant whale skeleton.

In this article we will look at what to see in Nha Trang, excursions in Nha Trang, as well as attractions that tourists can get to on their own.

Nha Trang has long earned love and recognition among hundreds of thousands of tourists for its “versatility”.

There is something here to suit lovers of beaches, sea and entertainment, for connoisseurs of Vietnamese culture and originality, and, of course, for exotic and thrill-seekers.

We present to your attention a list of all the main attractions and interesting places that Nha Trang is famous for.

Excursions in Nha Trang: Yangbay Park and crocodile farm

What to see in Nha Trang with children? The picturesque landscapes of this park attract attention; a camera should always be at hand.

Visitors will encounter exotic animals: crocodiles, Malayan bears, ostriches, squirrels, lemurs, various reptiles and tropical birds.

Here you can not only enjoy the magnificent scenery, but also swim in the waters of the waterfall and visit mineral and mud springs.

The entrance ticket costs about 10 USD (mineral springs included) or 7.5 USD (without mineral springs), lunch in the park ranges from 5 to 20 USD (depending on your appetite).

You can get to the park by taxi - about 40 minutes drive from the center of Nha Trang.

Video from Yangbei Park

The second option is to go on your own for at least 3 days. Then you will have at least some extra time to figure out all the routes to the sights on your own. Without the accompaniment of an experienced person, sometimes this can be difficult.

Video Dalat

Swallow Island

A protected island, visits to which are approved by the provincial Department of Nature Conservation.

It is unlikely that you will be able to get here on your own. On the island you can spend a pleasant time enjoying the scenery and the beautiful beach, snorkeling and leisurely exploring the surroundings.

Trips are only available from April to September.

Ersin Museum

What to see in Nha Trang on your own? The museum dedicated to the famous scientist is located at Nha Trang, 10 Tran Phu.

In addition to many discoveries in the field of virology and microbiology, he was the first to insist on the cultivation of cinchona and rubber trees in Vietnam. In addition, it was he who was the founder of the first hospital in Nha Trang, and also established a medical institute named after his famous teacher, Louis Pasteur.

Oceanographic Museum

What to see in Nha Trang on your own? Established in 1922, this museum has already collected more than 60 thousand exhibits in its collection.

Here you can not only admire the huge aquarium, but also see the skeleton of a whale and visit the research center.

You can get to the museum by bus No. 4 - the stop is a stone's throw from the Southern Port, near which the museum building is located.

The entrance ticket costs about 2 USD.

Phu Yen Province

The territory in the south of Vietnam, stretching along the South China coast, offers its guests to enjoy untouched exotic nature and a series of luxurious beaches stretching for 100 km.

Tourism is just beginning to develop here, so Phu Yen province is ideal for independent travelers and connoisseurs of beautiful landscapes untouched by civilization.

In addition to the beaches, there are ancient monuments - heritage temples of the Champa Kingdom, a French lighthouse, ancient observation towers on the tops of high hills and much more. Phu Yen Province will also be of interest to those who want to learn more about the authentic culture of Vietnam.

PagodaTu Van

This Buddhist complex is located near the city of Cam Ranh - south of Nha Trang. Its main attraction is a temple made entirely of coral and shells.

This is a very impressive sight: how long did it take the creators of this structure to collect material and perform such painstaking work?

On the walls you can clearly see how carefully pieces of coral and various shells were laid out, forming intricate patterns and ornaments.

Another interesting object of the complex is the Dragon Labyrinth, which is also called the “12 circles of hell”.

A long tunnel without lighting leads its guests through narrow passages and manholes, where it is not always possible to stand upright.

At some point, it begins to seem that the corridor is endless, but with the right level of endurance and patience, travelers will see a way out of the maze.

It looks like the mouth of a dragon, from where you can “slide” along the tongue between the long fangs. This labyrinth symbolizes the path to purification, victory over oneself.

Entrance to the complex is free, but at the exit the monk will ask you to leave a donation, the amount of which you determine yourself.

The easiest way to get to the pagoda is by taxi or motorbike, moving south beyond Nha Trang airport.

Snake show

What exotic things to see in Nha Trang? The event is reminiscent of the famous show in Thailand, and tour operators often offer something similar as a bonus for purchasing a tour. In fact, the performance that the tour operator offers to watch has nothing in common with the real ritual of sacrificing a live cobra.

The authentic spectacle involves playing with a snake in public (first of all, in order to demonstrate that the snake is alive and real), and then killing it and removing the heart and gall bladder.

The first is offered to a man as a symbol of strength and power, and the second to a woman, as a source of beauty and youth. The blood is drained and diluted with rice vodka, which of course must be drunk, and the snake itself is sent to the kitchen to prepare 6 full meals from it.

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet attract lovers of beach holidays and various sports: kite surfing, wind surfing, etc. In fact, these are small villages with a poorly developed tourist infrastructure. But in contrast to this, they have a special peaceful atmosphere of a Vietnamese coastal village.

The windy season here begins in November and lasts until about March, after which the beaches are empty in anticipation of the new sports season.

This resort is located approximately halfway from Nha Trang to Saigon, and is conveniently accessible by the same slipper bus.

Hanoi and Ha Long

Travel from Nha Trang to Hanoi and Ha Long true travel lovers dare. This is the real historical and cultural center of Vietnam, which will not leave any traveler indifferent.

Getting there by ground transport is not very convenient, and it takes an unreasonably long time.

If you come to Nha Trang for only 10-14 days, then it is worth going to Hanoi by plane. You should devote at least one day to walking around the capital of Vietnam, and then go on a tour of the famous Halong Bay.

It is located about 3-4 hours drive from Hanoi; it is more convenient to buy a tour directly in the city than to get there on your own.

On Ha Long, ideally, you should set aside a couple of days to slowly take a boat through the most beautiful places and explore at least a few caves, each of which deserves special attention.

especially in the summer: calm, transparent sea, absence of strong currents or dangerous marine life and amazing underwater scenes.

Both beginners and experienced divers will enjoy diving here. Everyone will find something interesting for themselves.

Hotel complex Rusalka

What strange things can you see in Nha Trang? Rusalka is a luxury hotel complex built on one of the most beautiful beaches in the north of Nha Trang.

But the work was not destined to be completed: the owner of the complex was caught committing fraud, after which construction was frozen.

Now the abandoned area is covered with lush vegetation, and instead of guests you can only find a lone fisherman.

The area of the complex is truly impressive; it will be interesting to wander around and examine various objects left unattended.

You can get here by motorbike or taxi, and you can also see it on the way to the Northern Port of Nha Trang - from a distance it also looks quite picturesque.

Beaches

Nha Trang City Beach

Nha Trang city beach stretches for more than 4 km. I think that everyone will find their favorite section of the beach in Nha Trang :) I love the Nha Trang beach near and near the Evason Ana Mandara Nha Trang hotel (by the way, pay attention to this hotel - this is the only hotel in Nha Trang within the city with its own beach! About other hotels in Nha Trang with its own I wrote on the beach). In winter, there are strong waves on the central beach of Nha Trang, but from March to September there is almost complete calm.

Price: renting a sun lounger under an umbrella from 50,000 VND.

Paragon Beach

Paragon Beach is a beach without waves in Nha Trang, located on the territory of the An Vien cottage village. Bai Dai Beach

A long and almost wild beach south of Nha Trang towards the airport. Now it is being intensively built up with premium hotels. Mountain city Dalat. I recommend visiting on your own for a few days
Cozy romantic city of Hoi An

Nha Trang is a resort city in the southeast of Vietnam, on the coast of the South China Sea. The city and its surroundings are so charming that even avid beach lovers will not be able to resist its attractions. And travelers who want to get away from the noise of the city can find long-awaited tranquility on the tropical islands off the coast of Nha Trang.

The southeast of Vietnam, located in a tropical climate zone, almost constantly pleases tourists with sunny days. Nha Trang is located in a bay, closed by mountains on one side and islands on the other, so the climate at the resort is quite comfortable throughout the year.

Typically, the air temperature in both winter and summer stays at 22-28 C, and the sea water temperature is 26-29 C.

The best time for a holiday in Nha Trang is considered to be the period from February to May, when the sea is calm and clear. From June to August the air temperature begins to rise, this time is ideal for ecotourists and lovers of water recreation. However, if you do not want to stumble upon crowded beaches and inflated prices, then it is better to avoid traveling to Nha Trang during this period.

Starting in September, it becomes rainy in this part of Vietnam, which is unlikely to suit tourists planning to get a perfectly even tan in Vietnam. But even in winter, this resort city offers guests a lot of interesting places that you should definitely visit when visiting Nha Trang.

What to see?

This is one of the few surviving Cham cultural buildings in Vietnam, erected in honor of Yang Po Nagar, the goddess of forests and rice fields. Initially there were 10 towers, each for the worship of different deities, but to date only four remain, which are now active temples.

The second floor is dedicated to a collection of local vessels and fishing artifacts. It houses an 18-meter whale skeleton, as well as skeletons or bodies of very rare marine life.

Tram Huong Tower, or Aquilaria Tower, is better known as Lotus. The building, whose construction lasted from 2004 to 2008, resembles a sea flower in its shape and is a symbol of Nha Trang.

The tower is used as an exhibition complex, but is currently not operational. Therefore, tourists will be able to admire its beauty and take a couple of great photos only from the outside.

  • Address: Tran Phu, Loc Tho, Thanh pho Nha Trang

Located 27 km from Nha Trang and hidden from prying eyes by rice fields and green mountains, the temple was called the “Temple of a Thousand Faces”. This incredibly beautiful temple is rarely mentioned in guidebooks, and for good reason.. The architecture of the temple is characterized by a mixture of different styles: here Chinese dragons stand next to Indian elephants, and the statue of a screaming Buddhist monk contrasts sharply with the deity sitting next to him in a pose of complete peace.

Construction of the temple began in 2006 and is still ongoing.. It was closed in 2018 for renovations, which should be completed by 2019.

  • Address: Dien Lam Commune, Dien Khanh District, Nha Trang

Nha Trang is no different from other Vietnamese cities in terms of the number of local markets, which gives a wide choice to travelers who want to bring back a bunch of souvenirs from their vacation. Many tourists are offered excursions to the Cho Dam market, because it is considered the largest in the city.

If you want to experience the local flavor, be sure to visit this market. Here you can buy everything: from seasonal fruits and tea to refrigerator magnets and clothes.. Don’t forget: the Vietnamese deliberately inflate prices, so it’s worth bargaining to get a price almost three times lower than what was originally announced to you.

  • Open: daily 5:00 – 18:30
  • Address: Van Thanh, Thanh pho, Nha Trang

On the territory of the reserve, located 30 km from Nha Trang, you will find 592 species of plants and 255 species of animals, including about 100 rare representatives of flora and fauna listed in the Red Book.

Cam Ranh is an international civil airport in the Vietnamese province of Khanh Hoa, located in the city of the same name, half an hour’s drive from the administrative center of Nha Trang. It is also known as Nha Trang Airpot. It was built by the American military during the battles in Vietnam and was used as part of a military base. After hostilities ended, the airport was used by the Soviet and then Russian Air Forces from 1979 to 2002. In 2004, part of the military base was reconstructed and opened as a new civilian airport. In December 2009, the airport received international status. The length of its runway is 3048 meters, which allows it to accommodate aircraft of any size. Often landing here: Boeing -737, Boeing-757, Airbus A319, Airbus A320 and Bombardier CRJ-100/200.

The infrastructure of Cam Ranh Airport includes two passenger terminals, comfortable waiting rooms equipped with the latest public address system, several restaurants, pharmacies, an exchange office and a weather station. At the moment, it serves six fairly large airlines, among which the most popular are Vietnam Airlines, Pegasus Tourist and Asiana Airlines.

Monkey Island

Surprisingly, this popular tourist site arose thanks to Soviet scientists. They brought monkeys to the island for research work. They say that after they finished, the monkeys were taken out, but, judging by today’s picture, especially nimble individuals still managed to “illegally” stay here.

Over time, the monkeys settled down, their numbers increased noticeably, and today they feel completely safe. Visitors have the opportunity to walk around the island, observe the life and habits of primates (and their behavior can be surprisingly funny!), and feed the animals. However, you need to remember that these cute animals are still representatives of the wild world, so you should be careful when handling them. Do not forget that monkeys are very fond of bright and shiny objects and, given the opportunity, will not deny themselves the pleasure of simply stealing them.

But these are small things compared to the incomparable pleasure that you get from communicating with these cute creatures. At the end of your walk around the island, you can visit the animal circus, where funny performances are held daily.

Winpearl Island

Vinpearl Island is the largest island in the Nha Trang area.

Here you will have the opportunity to walk along the longest cable car at 3320 meters above sea level, which is included in the Guinness Book of Records.

The island is home to the five-star Vinpearl Resort & Spa, where you can visit a water park, a marine aquarium and play golf on an excellent course.

The island has an amusement park that rivals many of Asia's famous amusement parks. It includes attractions such as a water palace with 300 species of sea animals and 90 meters of tunnels under water, a flying train, a pirate ship and other extreme carousels.

The Four Seasons Restaurant is an affordable Vietnamese food spot that caters to tourists and locals alike. It is located in the coastal zone, so many people come here not just to eat, but also to enjoy the view of the surf.

The menu includes a variety of pizzas, lemon fries, seafood dishes, a variety of salads and the cheap beer that locals love. In this case, an order for one will cost 50-150 rubles.

The establishment is quite simple, decorated without any frills, however, all the beauty is revealed outside the window, so the interior is not even noticeable.

Cham Towers Po Nagar

According to historians and archaeologists, the Cham towers of Po Nagar were built in the 7th-12th centuries. There were originally 8 towers built on an area that was used for religious rituals already in the 2nd century. AD Only 4 towers have survived to this day.

The Cham towers were built in honor of the goddess Yang Ino Po Nagar, who, according to legend, was the patroness of Nha Trang. The traditions of holding ceremonies and rituals in this area have been preserved to this day: the Cham towers are regularly visited by the Chinese and Vietnamese Buddhists.

The greatest delight is the North Tower, which is also called Thap Tinh. At the entrance to the tower there is the dancing god Shiva, personifying the destructive beginning of the universe, transformation, and creation. In the tower there is a meditation hall, in which many centuries ago local residents meditated and searched for their path, finding harmony and peace. At the moment, the hall is badly damaged - time has not been kind to it. However, the warm and pleasant energy can still be felt today. Thap Tinh Tower is the most beautiful of the four surviving ones. Also of interest is the method of building the towers; when building with bricks, no adhesives were used; the bricks were sintered together.

On the territory of the Cham Towers there is also a museum that will tell you a lot about the times of the ancient Cham sages and the peculiarities of people’s lives in the Nha Trang region.

Orchid Island

Orchid Island, located north of Nha Trang, is the largest and most developed island. This place is famous for its natural beauty and wildlife.

Here you can see incredibly beautiful parrots and peacocks, visit an ostrich farm and ride on a long-legged bird, or visit a small circus and a garden of stone sculptures of wild animals and mythical characters.

In the depths of the island, an unforgettable sight awaits you - a stream of orchids, which is especially beautiful during the flowering period. The beaches in these places are clean and quiet, with almost no waves, so this place is great for swimming and snorkeling.

Long Son Pagoda

Long Son Pagoda was built in 1886 on top of a hill and was named Dan Long Tu, which means "Slowly Flying Dragon". In 1900, the building was almost completely destroyed by a powerful hurricane. The temple was restored, but moved from the top to the foot of the hill. The entrance and the arched roof of the pagoda are decorated with numerous images of dragons, made using the mosaic technique of glass and pieces of ceramic tiles. In the main hall sits a bronze Buddha - a statue more than one and a half meters high and weighing 700 kg. The walls are decorated with traditional Buddhist designs.

To get to the top of the hill, you need to climb 150 steep steps. The stairs will lead directly to a huge stone Buddha, 24 meters high. He is depicted sitting on an open lotus flower. The statue's pedestal commemorates 7 monks who committed self-immolation between April and September 1963 to protest the suppression of Buddhism. The size of the statue is so large that it can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. In 2003, to the right of the stairs leading to the upper platform, another Buddha was installed, but lying down. The area around the pagoda has been turned into a magnificent garden, where goldfish swim in artificial ponds.

Cape Hong Chong

The delightful resort of Nha Trang boasts a huge number of attractions and entertainment centers for tourists. Once here, be sure to visit the granite cape of Hon Chong. This unique natural monument is a cluster of huge stones, which are traditionally divided into the Woman’s Rock and the Man’s Rock.

The Woman's Rock is located on the sand, while the Man's Rock extends into the sea. The arrangement of the giant stones is so unnatural that they appear to be balancing on the small stones below them. All this creates a truly surreal picture, the reality of which is not always possible to believe the first time.
