How far from Istanbul to. Antalya and Istanbul. Distance between cities. Taxi from the airport - price and other information

- a resort in Turkey, famous for its clear water and excellent beaches. We really liked it there. The way back to Istanbul from Kemer lay through Antalya (in fact, it is impossible to get to Istanbul any other way).

By plane

Kemer does not have its own airport, and all tourists arrive and depart from Antalya Airport. Accordingly, you need to get to Antalya airport, and from there fly to Istanbul.

Buses to Antalya depart from Kemer Bus Station. It is located, in my opinion, very inconveniently: on the D400 highway, actually outside the city. The bus station itself is nothing special: a station is just a station. The toilet, by the way, is paid, costs 1 lira, so it’s better to keep small money with you. Buses to Antalya run approximately once every half hour, so there is no need to buy tickets in advance - there are always places. The road to Antalya will take about one and a half hours.

Having arrived at Antalya bus station, go to the stop and change to bus No. 600 or No. 600a. This will take you to the airport, especially since this will be the final stop. If this is your first time in Antalya and you have an extra half hour, ask the driver to stop at the Lower Duden stop and see the world's tallest waterfall, which flows into the open sea. Believe me, the spectacle is impressive.

There are a lot of planes between Antalya and Istanbul. Flights are operated by Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and some others.

You can compare prices and schedules on a special page, which provides complete information on all flights. I won’t go into detail about the flight; it’s better to read this article, it tells you everything in detail.

What is the price

A ticket to Antalya costs about 10 liras, travel to the airport from the bus station will cost another 5 liras. The cost of a flight depends on the airline and flight and averages 20-25 dollars, but if you get on the next sale, you can buy a ticket for 10-15 dollars. So, the minimum cost of a trip to Istanbul is 14-15 dollars.

Where can I buy

A bus ticket to Antalya must be purchased at the bus station ticket office. You can pay the driver for travel to the airport. In my opinion, it is most convenient to buy a plane ticket on the official websites of Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines.

By bus

If you do not want to make transfers or simply for some reason do not want to fly, then you can get to Istanbul from Kemer by bus. The national transport company Metroturizm bus departs from Kemer Bus Station once a day at 20:30, arriving in Istanbul at 09:00. In principle, the schedule is quite convenient, since you need to spend the night on the way, but the whole day is free.

In Istanbul, the bus stops in several places, the final stop is near the Samandira Tesis metro station.

What is the price

A bus ticket costs 90 liras (approximately $25).

We flew to Istanbul by plane - it was inexpensive, convenient, and fast. We were lucky: we were caught up in some regular promotion, so we got tickets for literally pennies.

In this article I’ll tell you about the New Istanbul Airport - how to get to the center in different ways. The question is not idle and faces everyone who decides to visit one of the most famous cities in the world. I will please both budget tourists and those who love comfort - you can get to the city center in a variety of ways. It is generally accepted that a cheaper method, as a rule, involves less comfort and greater time investment. But in the case of Istanbul, this statement does not always work. Below you will find out why.

So, we are faced with a task under which need to get from point A to point B. Point A is the New Istanbul Ataturk Airport (İstanbul New Airport or İstanbul Yeni Havalimanı), point B is the center of Istanbul (Sultanahmet, Fatih districts or Taksim Square area).

The conditions for solving the problem depend on your preferences for the method of movement. Some people categorically do not like public transport, preferring to pay more but take a taxi. Someone, on the contrary, sees taxi drivers as rogues who don’t feed them bread, but just let them deceive the passenger. To some, taxi drivers may not seem like such scammers, but the desire to save money is put at the forefront. Based on these conditions, I offer you several options for solving the problem.

From Istanbul New Airport to the center by public transport

There are three types of public transport from Istanbul New Airport to the European part of Istanbul - bus, metro and high-speed train. However, the New Istanbul Airport opened recently - in April 2019. Therefore, public transport from here is not fully operational. The new M11 metro line has not yet been completed and will be launched in 2020.

Bus to Istanbul from the airport

From Istanbul New Airport you can take a bus to different parts of the city. The carrier company is Havaist. There are routes on the roads every day.

  • IST-1 has two sub-routes - IST-1Y and IST-1S. In the first case, buses go to Yenikapı, in the second - to SULTANAHMET.
  • IST-2 goes to the Tüyap area.
  • IST-3 goes to Otogar bus station.
  • IST-4 is heading to the Bakirköy area.
  • IST-5 goes to metro station 4.Levent and Besiktas area (BEŞİKTAŞ).
  • IST-7 goes to Kozyatağı metro station on the Asian side of Istanbul.
  • IST-19 goes to the square and Taksim metro station.

The fares for these buses vary. You can find out which bus goes where, its schedule and ticket price on the carrier’s website - hava.ist/en/new-timetables. There you can create an account and purchase an electronic ticket. But I haven’t tried it myself, please share your experience if you have had one.

In addition, municipal buses run from Istanbul New Airport to the city.

  • H-2 - Mecidiyeköy metro station (M2 metro station).
  • H-3 - Halkalı.
  • H-4 - Ataturk Airport or Old Istanbul Airport.

From the airport by metro

As of July 2019, the new metro line M11 Gayrettepe - Yeni Havalimanı has not yet been completed. There will be a total of 7 stations on the line:

  • Gayrettepe (Gayrettepe).
  • Kağıthane (Kagytane) - transfer station.
  • Kemerburgaz (Kemerburgaz).
  • Göktürk (Gökturk).
  • Işıklar Otogar (Yşıklar Otogar).
  • İhsaniye (Ihsaniye).
  • Yeni Havalimanı-2 (Yeni Havalimanı-2).
  • Yeni Havalimanı-1 (Yeni Havalimanı-1).

One of the most popular and budget ways to get from Ataturk Airport to the center of Istanbul. And most importantly, you definitely won’t have to sit in traffic jams. Finding the station is very easy - after leaving the arrivals hall, you need to follow the signs with the word Metro. This will take you to the final station of the M1 Red Line, which is called Havalimani (Atatürk Airport). Trains run every 6-8 minutes from 06:00 to 00:00.

If you came to Istanbul for one day, or perhaps you are here in transit, and went into the city to walk for a couple of hours, then I recommend buying tokens (1 token - 4 liras), which are essentially one-time travel tickets and are used on almost all types of public transport. Machines selling tokens are located right at the station.

To travel on the metro you will need an Istanbulkart transport card. It is sold in vending machines.

From Istanbul New Airport to the center by car

If we are talking about a car, then either you hire a taxi or a private transfer, or rent a car. Both options are easily feasible in the case of the New Istanbul Airport.

Taxi from the airport - price and other information

Istanbul taxi drivers are known among tourists as lovers of easy money and virtuosos of scams. Therefore, I recommend that you keep your eyes open when ordering a taxi. The first thing you need to pay attention to when ordering a taxi from Istanbul New Airport is the price. In Istanbul, the taxi driver must turn on the meter and you will pay according to its readings. Pay only in lira and do not show that you have any other currency.

Make sure the taxi driver turns on the meter, and if you have maps on your phone, make sure he doesn’t drive you around in circles. The average cost of a trip is from 200 liras.

For travelers without a man (two girlfriends, mother and daughter, and so on), families with children and older people, I would not recommend using the services of taxi drivers on site at all. It is better to use the option that I will discuss below.

If you want to get to your hotel in comfort, book a transfer in advance. My recommendation is . Firstly, the site is entirely in Russian, everything is very simple. Secondly, the price indicated on the website will not change after your arrival. Thirdly, the driver with a name sign will be waiting for you and your fellow travelers at the indicated location.

For large companies, a minibus or minivan is suitable - perhaps the best offer in terms of price. If there are seven of you, then each person will pay 18 liras or more for a bus + metro connection. If you order a minivan for 7 passengers, then each person will pay about 37 liras. And no moving around the airport, transfers or waiting.

Looking for a hotel or apartment? Thousands of options at RoomGuru. Many hotels are cheaper than on Booking

If you have the opportunity to travel around the cities of Turkey, then you should definitely visit its capital - Istanbul. But at the same time there will be a desire to soak up the beach in Antalya. Therefore, below is information on the route Istanbul - Antalya: distance, how to get there, price of the trip.

Google Maps / google.ru

If we compare it with other tourist destinations, where the choice of transport is usually varied, then in this case you can immediately remove railway transport from the list. Because there is no direct train from Antalya. And there is no particular point in getting there with transfers if there are alternative ways. Accordingly, you can get from one city to another and back along a direct route using the following modes of transport:

  1. Airplane.
  2. Bus.
  3. Automobile.

Airplane

There are many advantages to choosing this way to get from one beautiful city to another, no less enchanting with its historical and modern landscapes. The distance from Istanbul to Antalya by air is approximately 480 km.

Bulent KAVAKKORU / flickr.com

The flight time will be up to 1.5 hours. There are enough airlines that operate domestic flights between these cities. Therefore, everyone will be able to choose based on price, quality of services provided and departure time. First things first.

One of the most popular Turkish carriers is Turkish Airlines. Its planes perform more than 10 flights per day. The first takes off at 3:20 a.m., and the last at 11:55 p.m. at night.

If you want to purchase a cheaper ticket, you can do this by using the services of the low-cost company Pegasus Airlines. The service here will be slightly lower, but the price may be less than a bus ticket. The aircraft of this carrier makes its first rise into the sky only at 6 o’clock in the morning. But the last flight of the day is at 10 pm.

In Istanbul, the above flights depart from Sabiha Gokcen Airport. There are, of course, other competing companies, but they also have slightly fewer flights from Antalya to Istanbul or back. That's why they are not so popular. Tickets will cost an average of $20-25.

ken H/flickr.com

Of course, there are various promotions and discounts, but it is not a fact that a pre-booked ticket will cost less than one bought a couple of days before departure or on the day of departure. You can buy tickets in advance on the website. It is worth paying attention to the amount of luggage carried, as this point is very important in Turkey. The ticket price may depend on it.

Bus

If you have some free time or are afraid of flying on airplanes, you can use the services provided by bus carriers. The most popular and largest company is Metro Tourism. During peak season, each bus from Istanbul to Antalya or in the opposite direction leaves every 4 hours, that is, quite often.

The distance between Antalya and Istanbul along the highway will be more than 700 km. You will have to spend 11-12 hours on the road. But almost all buses have a high level of comfort:

  • comfortable chairs;
  • snacks, drinks;
  • personal TV;
  • Internet (wi-fi).

You can find out how much the cost of bus tickets will be on the official websites of carrier companies, at the ticket office of the bus station, as well as in many travel companies, where you can directly purchase the ticket itself. Its price fluctuates around 20 dollars. Of course, you won’t be able to save much compared to flying, but you don’t need to waste extra money and time getting to the airport.

Automobile

Considering that gasoline is very expensive in Turkey, you should immediately understand that you will have to pay a considerable amount if you want to use this type of transport. You can rent an inexpensive car on the website.

Yilmaz Oevuenc / flickr.com

You can easily find out how to get from one locality to another using the navigator on your smartphone. If this is not possible, then eloquent road signs will not allow you to leave the desired route. The road transport system and road junctions are organized at a very high level in Turkey.

Even taking into account the reviews of tourists who traveled this way along the route Antalya - Istanbul, that the roads are better than, for example, in Russia, but worse than in European developed countries.

But in any case, on the Istanbul-Antalya section, the distance will be approximately 670-700 km, depending on which route you take. Travel time can reach 10 hours. But the big advantage of this option is that you can freely enjoy many of the sights of not only Istanbul or Antalya, but also other cities, deviating a couple of kilometers from the route.

Video: from Istanbul to Antalya.

If you rent a car to get to the right place, then you should know some points. In the case where the car is registered in Antalya, but needs to be left in Istanbul, the cost will be about $40 per day. And if you pick up and drop off a car in one locality, for example, in Istanbul, then such a service will cost approximately $30 per day.

At the height of the holiday season, it is advisable to worry about booking a car in advance, since this service is in demand among tourists to cover a certain number of kilometers.

Perhaps it will be convenient for someone to book an excursion from Antalya to Istanbul, which will already include several kilometers of road from one hotel to another.

Ataturk Airport– international airport in Istanbul (Closed! flights have been moved to), which is located on the European side of the city 20 km from the historical center Sultanahmet and 29 km from the nightlife center Taksim. Istanbul Second Airport – Airport Sabiha Gokcen located 70 km from Ataturk on the Asian side of the city.

Regardless of the type of transport, any route from Antalya to Istanbul will look like this:

2. Options for getting there

The distance from Antalya to Istanbul is 720 km. There are several ways to overcome it.

2.1. By bus

It takes a very long time to travel by bus to Istanbul - the journey takes about ten to eleven hours. This long method is usually chosen by those who are simply afraid of flying. Or those who save on air travel (although with local low-cost airlines, flights are even more profitable than traveling by bus).

During the season, comfortable international buses depart every four hours. The main carriers in this direction: Kamil Koç and MetroTurizm:

Ticket prices vary in the range from 150 to 160 liras (prices 2019). All buses are air conditioned, passengers are offered drinks and snacks, and some buses even have Wi-Fi.

2.2. By train

There is no direct train connection between Antalya and Istanbul, so we immediately dismiss this type of transport.

2.3. By plane

Air travel is the easiest and fastest way to cover considerable distances between cities. You can choose one of two Istanbul airports as your final destination.

One of them (Ataturk Airport) is located closer to the city center in its European part. was built much later and is located outside the city, in its Asian part.

Ataturk Airport

About 30 airline flights depart from Antalya towards Ataturk Airport every day AtlasGlobal,Onur Air And Turkish Airlines.

The first flight departs from Antalya to 07.00 , the last one is in 23.55 . The flight takes approximately one hour ten to an hour twenty. The minimum cost of an air ticket, for example, for October 2017 is 2505 rubles:

Offers the cheapest air tickets Pegasus Airlines(as of June 2019) – from 1651 RUR :

2.4. On a ferryboat

You will need a ferry if you decide to fly from Antalya to Sabiha Gokcen Airport, which is quite distant from the city. From the airport you will need to get to the Kadıköy pier and cross the Bosphorus Strait by ferry, which departs every half hour. True, there is an alternative way to get there from the airport, but more on that below.

2.5. Buy an excursion

An excursion from Antalya to Istanbul is convenient because it includes all transfers along the road “from hotel to hotel”. As a rule, such excursion tours are designed for 1-3 days and involve direct flights to Ataturk Airport. A standard excursion costs from $200 per person.

3. Where to buy tickets

3.1. On the plane

A plane ticket from Antalya to Istanbul can be purchased at a travel agency, ticket office and airline representative office (at domestic flight terminals). But the easiest way, of course, is to buy a ticket on Aviasales or Skyscanner - there you can find the most profitable and time-convenient option. To be honest, this is the only way we always buy tickets.

Here you can see when the best tickets are available:

3.2. On the bus

Tickets for intercity buses are sold at the ticket office of Antalya bus station, at official representative offices of bus companies (on the main streets of the city) and at travel agencies. You can also buy a ticket on the bus company’s website; prices there are often lower than at street offices.

For example, tickets to Istanbul on the company website Kamil Koç (prices for 2019 are around 135-150 liras):

The cost of tickets when purchased through the website is 5 liras less than at the bus station

4. How to get to the city center

From Antalya to Istanbul you get to either one of two airports or one of the bus stations - Bayrampaşa, Büyük otogar or Esenler.

4.1. From Ataturk Airport

1. Metro

The M1 metro line from the airport (the station is called Havalimani) through the central areas of the European part of the city stretches to the Aksaray bus station.

2. Bus

Municipal bus 96T also goes from the airport to the center of Istanbul (for example, to the Bakirkoy and Yenikapi areas). The bus leaves every hour.

3. Taxi

Usually, tourists are not recommended to use taxi services at the airport - it is very expensive, and there are plenty of scammers in such a “bread and butter” place. You can order a taxi in advance on the website individual transfers(for example, a trip from Ataturk Airport to the historical center of Sultanahmet will cost 27 euros).

4.2. From Sabiha Gokcen Airport

1. Taxi or private transfer

In the same way, you can take a taxi at the airport, or you can order it in advance on this website.

An individual transfer is usually 10% more expensive, but you don’t need to wait in line, you will be immediately greeted with a sign, the fare will be known in advance, the class of the car will be known and, if necessary, a child car seat will be installed immediately.

From the airport to the historical center of the city (Sultanahmed) you will be taken in approximately 53 euros.

2. Bus + ferry

Take the Havataş bus or the E10 city bus to Kadikoy pier. From here a ferry departs every half hour to Eminonu.

After getting off the ferry and crossing the road, you need to take the light rail. Sultanahmed center is literally three stops away.

You can also take the Havatash bus to Taksim Square, and from there you can take the metro or bus to wherever you need to go.

Taksim Square:

3. Bus + metro

In October 2013, the Marmaray tunnel was opened under the Bosphorus. From the final stop of the E10 city bus, you can now take the metro to the center of Istanbul (to Sirkeci station).

Marmaray Tunnel Station:

4.3. From the central bus station

From the central bus station (Bayrampaşa), you can go into the city either by metro (line M1) or by one of the buses:

  • 91O Otogar - Eminönü
  • 83O Otogar - Taksim
  • 75O Otogar - Mecidiyeköy.

Also from the bus station there are free shuttles from various bus companies to some areas of the city. There are no direct buses to Sultanahmet, but you can then walk. To use the free shuttle, you need to show the driver your intercity bus ticket. For example, you traveled from Antalya to Istanbul by company Kamil Koç, then at the bus station you need to find a shuttle bus of this particular company.

5. Conclusion

The easiest way to travel from Antalya to Istanbul is by plane. There are many direct flights, there are budget options, and tickets can be booked in advance online.

When purchasing tickets, pay attention to which part of Istanbul your hotel is located. It is more convenient to get to the European part of the city from Ataturk Airport, and to the Asian part from Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

The multi-hour bus option remains for those who are afraid of flying or love adventure and want to see the views from the bus window.

Which way do you prefer to get from Antalya to Istanbul? Have you used the long bus crossing? Isn't this too tedious? We were traveling by bus from Izmir to Istanbul and were very tired, but it’s much further to get from Antalya.
