Entertainment in Pineda de Mar. Traveling without a travel agency “this time it was a completely different Spain.” Pineda de Mar - a new world

- Holidays near Barcelona

Advantages: excellent holiday - calm, beautiful, cozy and inexpensive. Near Barcelona

Disadvantages: no

I learned about a cozy place located not far from Barcelona from friends - they told us how well they had a rest there, there are few people, it’s quiet, there are no loud nightclubs and other similar entertainment, but there is a beautiful beach, clean and well-groomed.

After some thought, my husband and I decided to go there on vacation too, and we were right. In terms of price, it turns out to be cheaper than affording a holiday in Barcelona, and I liked it better.

So, in my review I want to talk about the small town in Spain of Pineda de Mar. There are a lot of impressions, I just want to tell you everything at once, but I will try to systematize my review.

Pineda de Mar

Briefly about the city

The city of Pineda de Mar is located on the Costa del Mareme, a place between the mountains and the sea, so the beautiful landscape from the window pleases every guest.

Barcelona is just a stone's throw away - only 50 km. You can get there by any transport at any time of the day. Unlike the large city of Barcelona, it is cozy and uncrowded, but if you need the entertainment of a big city, it won’t be difficult to get there.

The very name of the city, Pineda de Mar, translates as “pine trees on the sea.” It sounds interesting that I was intrigued by her before we finally decided to choose this particular city for our vacation.

There really are pine trees here - they are so tall that it seems they must be more than a hundred years old. Whether this is true or not, I can’t say for sure, but the fact that such tall pines purify the air is clear.

If you are not from Moscow, then first you will have to get to our capital, since regular direct flights to Barcelona start from Moscow.

In general, the Moscow-Barcelona flight departs all year round, but during the high season, charter flights are also added.

Once you arrive in Barcelona, consider that you are no longer there. It's just a little bit left to reach Pinada de Mar. You can go by car (take a taxi), or by train (it will take no more than 20 minutes). As you wish.

They immediately approached us with offers for a taxi, but the prices were much higher than we expected (we read other people's reviews, so we were approximately aware). By the way, the train is cheap, but a taxi can take you directly to the hotel.

I won’t dwell on this, since our review is not about hotels, but about the beautiful city. Regarding accommodation, I will only say this: there are not many hotels, but it is quite possible to find something that is good and priced and suits you according to your requirements.

The hotels are all pretty good, and many of them offer good rooms at an affordable price.

I would like to talk about this in detail: the beach is long, the sand on it is clean and pleasant. There is a lot of entertainment (quiet and calm) - for every taste: there are catamaran boat rentals, banana boats, and umbrellas with sun loungers. Everything is within normal limits, although on a sandy beach, it seems to me, you can do without sun loungers.

The water is clear, clean, the bottom is visible even at great depths. I think this is due to the fact that there are still few tourists in this small town.

The weather in Spain is good, but quite hot - the thermometer shows more than 30 degrees.

Regarding autumn, I know that it rains constantly there, and in winter the temperature is not lower than +5 degrees. By the way, since I don’t really like the sun, my husband suggested that I come here sometime in the winter. A tempting idea...

The holiday turned out to be simply wonderful: there were not many people - it was especially important that there were no noisy parties and music. More precisely, they are in the central part of the city, but if you don’t go there, then nothing will disturb you.

I walked through green squares, enjoyed a beach holiday and absorbed the wonderful spirit of beautiful Spain. The holiday turned out to be wonderful.

impressed them so much that the decision about where to go next time came on its own.

Pineda de Mar - a new world

We decided not to go to Costa Dorada, because... We've already seen a lot of things there.

The choice fell on the town Pineda de Mar, 50 km from Barcelona and 45 km from Girona. Coast of the Costa del Maresme.

Although the distance between La Pineda (where we were last year) and Pineda de Mar is no more than 150 km, sometimes it seemed to me that this was a completely different country. No less beautiful and interesting.

Features of national transport

Our journey began with an adventure, and it did not end throughout the trip.

Our plane was delayed by 20 minutes, and during this time the regular bus to our town left safely. The next one is scheduled in an hour and a half.

And here we are standing at the bus stop with bags, but at the same time in a good mood, because we are in Spain.

There is no bus... No, not in time, not in 10 minutes, not in 20...

He was 25 minutes late(later we find out that it is the norm not to follow the schedule) and he came, looked at us and left. There was simply no room in it.

And the next bus is again in an hour and a half - and this... is the last bus next morning.

Taxi for a pretty penny

While waiting, we met cheerful English-speaking guys, who, by a happy coincidence, also needed to go to Pineda de Mar.

Just in case of emergency, they learned about taxi cost to the city(2 people - 100 euros, 5 people - 200 euros) and convinced us to wait for the bus.

The bus has arrived and there was a place for us in it. We were able to get to the hotel.

Hello city

We, of course, devoted the next day to getting to know the town where we actually arrived.

It is small, very quiet and calm. Sometimes it seems that there is almost no local population, but it only seems so.

I'll say right away, the city Pineda de Mar is ideal for a QUIET family holiday or simply for those who want to take a break from the hectic city life.

For a hectic life, it’s worth going to Barcelona and Girona or neighboring Calella and Santa Susanna.

History and modernity side by side

History of Pineda de Mar as a city begins in the 14th century with the construction of St. Mary's Church. The facade of the church, created in the Baroque style, looks quite unusual.

In the 19th century, Pineda de Mar again experienced a period of stagnation due to civil wars.

Since 1960, the town has come to life. Rich residents of Barcelona began to build their residences here, and expensive hotels were opened for tourists.

Now Pineda de Mar is conditionally divided into two parts: old and new. The historical part is centered around the ancient church of St. Mary. One of the evidences of the past is the Kan Jalpi Palace, built at the end of the 15th - beginning of the 16th centuries.

Tourist train in season

From May to October, a special tourist train “Xino-Xano” runs in Pineda de Mar, which has only 2-3 cars.

The pleasure costs 2.5 euros (if you drive half the route) and 4.5 euros if you drive around the entire town in a circle.

Friday Fair

On Fridays there is a fair on the embankment, where you can not only choose delicious and fresh food, but also buy clothes and jewelry made by local craftsmen at reasonable prices.

Calella - vibrant life and great beach

Next door to Pineda de Mar there is a wonderful town called Calella, which is famous with its beautiful beaches with golden sand and convenient access to the sea.

He is not as quiet as Pineda de Mar, there is always something going on in him.

Along Iglesia Street you will find many shops. There are well-known brands (for example, Mango) and modest stores of completely unknown brands, the products of which compare favorably in price and quality.

On one of the streets in Calella there is an interesting cactus house.

The owner of the house planted huge cacti on large balconies along the entire facade of the house, which grow upward and reach a height of several meters.

Square of Saint Salvador

Walking through the streets of this beautiful city, you will certainly find yourself in the central square of Saint Salvador, where you can relax and enjoy the coolness of the fountain.

Numerous competitions and festivals are constantly held there.

We caught a children's dance competition from local dance studios and a dance festival, the participants of which came from different countries.

El Far Lighthouse

The symbol of Calella is the El Far lighthouse- located on a hill on the outskirts of the city. It was built in 1859 to warn of danger in the event of an attack by Algerian pirates.

The lighthouse has an observation deck, from which, according to the guide, they open beautiful views of almost the entire city and coast.

But we didn’t go up to the observation deck: we were warned that the climb was very steep and there were no guardrails.

After walking around Pineda de Mar and exploring Calella, We developed a further plan - Barcelona and Girona were next in line.

To be continued…

Or rather in its southeastern part. To get to Barcelona itself from the city you need to cover about 55 km. The territory of the modern city has been inhabited since ancient times. First, the eastern coast was populated, and then the center of the Iberian Peninsula.

By means of a Roman road, settlements along the coast were connected to present-day Barcelona during the period of Roman colonization. In the place where the city now stands, there was a Roman settlement; 4 arches from the place where the aqueduct ended have been preserved to this day.

Further, this territory served as the border between the Frankish state and the Arab lands. In addition, at certain times the coast was the site of attacks by pirates, and therefore fortifications began to be built. Only in the first decades of the last century did urbanization begin to develop intensively. In the 60s of the 20th century, the city began to grow as a tourist center.

Today, tourists with different levels of income vacation in the city, since there are hotels here to suit every taste and budget. If you also want to join the vacationers in Pineda de Mar, then there are direct flights from Moscow to Barcelona all year round, and charter flights are also added to them during the peak tourist season. From Barcelona to the city you can take a train that runs every 20 minutes, the journey takes about an hour. You can also take a taxi or rent a car, just remember that there is a toll road here. There are buses at the resort, and in the period May–October, in addition, there is a tourist train, which has 2–3 carriages.

Pineda de Mar resort map

Climate in Pineda de Mar

The city has a typical Catalan Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot summers with average temperatures above +30 degrees. In winter, the temperature fluctuates mainly around +5. Such a natural phenomenon as snow is a phenomenon in the resort. But in the autumn months, rain is very common.

Beaches in Pineda de Mar

The beach occupies an area of 3 km in length; it extends 40 m deep into the resort. The sand here has a transitional color: light silver changes to yellow-golden. The beach is quite long, but despite its size, everything here is well thought out and equipped. On the beach you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers, you can rent a boat and ride, or a catamaran. In addition, boat rides and banana boat rides are organized. A team of rescuers is on duty here 24 hours a day, and there are also first aid stations. The resort also took care of the recreation of disabled people, for whom special slopes were built. Every year, the city’s beach deservedly wins the Blue Flag, which is awarded only to the best beaches in Europe.

Attractions and entertainment in Pineda de Mar

In the city you can see the preserved part of Montpalau Castle, which was built in the 11th century. The owners of this castle were the rulers of almost all regions of Maresme. Another local attraction is the Church of St. Mary, also dating back to the 11th century, and at the end of the next century, the first residential buildings began to appear near this church. Although the church dates back to the 11th century, it is now a monument dating back to the 16th century, famous for its beautiful Baroque façade.

You can see the Kan-Jalpi Palace, which was built not far from the church. Among other things, Pineda has artifacts in the form of an aqueduct and watchtowers. You can see the collection of graphics in the Torrats Foundation, because this collection is considered one of the best and largest in the whole world. A large number of exhibitions take place in the adjacent library building. This historical part of the city tells everything that happened over many centuries.

The other part of the resort is replete with entertainment venues: bars, nightclubs, restaurants. All the hotels were built here. The busiest place is the Plaza de les Melis, as well as the local embankment. It is in these places that city festivals take place, and the square with the embankment is closest to the best restaurants and bars. The most party club on the coast is Sky.

But the city is not only interesting for entertainment venues; there are also green parks with public gardens where it is pleasant to walk or ride a bicycle. And since the city is surrounded by pine forests, the air becomes even cleaner and healthier. In addition, at the resort you can improve your health, because there is a wellness center called “Sport and Sea”, where you can get advice.

Near Pineda there are resorts such as Calella, which can be easily reached by bicycle. You can go a little further - to Barcelona, Tarragona and Girona, as well as to the neighboring small French cities of Perpegnan and Colioure. These cities are replete with historical sites.

Rent a car and accommodation in Pineda de Mar

So, if there is nothing better for you than traveling independently, then renting a car would be a great option. Remember about toll roads and your trip will be a great success. You can rent a car in neighboring Santa Susanna or Calella, which are only 3 kilometers from the city. A little further there are rental offices in and Palafolls. Rent per day will cost from 450 rubles. If you order a car online in advance, you get a 10% discount. The choice of cars is quite large: two or four doors, gasoline or diesel, all cars are equipped with air conditioning, which is important in warm countries.

You can also rent housing in advance: an apartment or a house. For example, an apartment for 4 people will cost 190 euros and more. You can rent a villa for a group; the approximate cost for 9 people starts from 299 euros. There are also large apartments designed for 7 people, and they sometimes cost more than a villa, at 340 euros. These prices are based on a week's stay. For information, usually the minimum rental period is 7 days.

This resort is suitable for those who value a relaxing holiday more, since there are still few entertainment venues here, and there are not many opportunities for active recreation.

I haven’t learned how to travel on my own yet (if anyone can teach me, thank you), so we went through Teztur, which is generally not bad, with the exception, perhaps, of some of the guides. Teztur guides are recruited, apparently, based on an advertisement, because such variations as “theirs”, “along the Milky Way”, a hellish village accent, distortion of facts and quoting Wikipedia are a common option. The exception is the guide Larisa, who took us to Carcassonne and to the fountains. (Editor's note: For smart people who advise you to take a car and drive yourself, I recommend giving birth to a child, raising him a little, giving him a difficult character, bringing him to a foreign country and carrying him on your back, taking the car, and at the same time telling interesting stories, so, so that he doesn’t get tired and keeps his attention on the narrator, and the narrator on the road. And only then write me comments on this topic. I’ll send the rest to you.) Both airlines we flew with (iFly and Yakutia) are quite decent, although after flying with Yamal two years ago I am very afraid of unknown airlines, but no, everything was ok and without any hiccups. To the commander of the crew of the Yakutia plane, which we flew to Moscow time, I was generally applauded while standing, because no one had ever taken me off and lowered me to the ground SO softly. Handsome!

Let's fly there

And this is back

The weather on the coast in early June is unstable. It seems warm, but the wind is cold. In the morning the sun is sunny, and in the evening it becomes cloudy, and by night it can rain. But in general we didn’t complain about the weather, we were happy with everything, even the rain!

So, Pineda. Pineda is a small town on the Costa de Maresme, which smoothly flows into the Costa Brava. The only attraction here is the church of the 18th century, and the rest are buildings no earlier than the 20s of the 20th century. A huge plus is the station under the hotel windows, from which the train took us to Barcelona in an hour and a half. Pineda borders the towns of Caleia and Santa Susanna, which are larger and noisier. But noise was not part of my plans, and I chose Pineda. There are no real delights, but the benefits (silence, proximity to Barcelona) are obvious to me personally.

Night view from the room's balcony. Under this view, every evening we drank wine and ate fruits, sausages and other rubbish.

This is how we drank.

And so.

Our hotel Aqua Promenade **** turned out to be quite good, but it does not reach 4*. In general, everything is fine, there are no special complaints, as well as no special delights. But what lazy maids they have - I have never seen them like them anywhere.

Hotel

In general, in Spain, laziness is a matter of special national pride, in my opinion. With crowds of tourists and the absence of heat, taking and closing for SIESTA at several o'clock is something incomprehensible to me. I was also surprised by some of the rudeness of the local population. I remembered Moscow public transport with affection, because in Spain, according to my observations, no one gives up their seats on public transport. They have very arrogant teenagers. Pushing a small child while passing by, pushing hard, and not even turning around afterwards is in the order of things. And then they all YELL. Everyone is yelling: children, teenagers, adults. Fatigue sets in after the first fifteen minutes on the train - your brain explodes. And strangely, disturbing their peace causes a storm of emotions on their face. I have observed several times that when someone sits next to single women, the first ones’ faces contort with displeasure. They begin to sigh violently, grunt and make faces, expressing displeasure.

The same church in Pineda.

Quite selfish, again. For extremely bad internet in a hotel, you have to pay, and for each device separately. Those. for the phone separately, for the tablet separately, etc. You have to pay to enter an active church - as a person who never left Notre Dame in my time, this shocked me, to be honest. And so on. In general, “Spain is a cheap country” is a myth. In France, having lunch is cheaper than in Spain, oddly enough.

A piece of a cafe where we had delicious pizza for lunch.

I was also extremely irritated by some general carelessness at all levels. If you ask how to get there, as a rule, they will simply wave you in the direction. This way of explaining the road in squares with a bunch of everything is especially relevant.

Station in Pineda de Mar.

I naively thought that when I arrived in Spain, I would be blinded by the beauty of the locals, where Bardems, Banderas and Penelope Cruzes were probably walking along the streets in packs. But no, my gaze didn’t linger on almost anyone, oddly enough. Once Zhora and I were looking at a handsome guy, about whom someone who knew Zhora said that he was a Catalan - yes, he was handsome, he looked like Pattinson. But I don’t know whether he is Catalan or not.

There are also a lot of smokers in Spain. And, judging by the smell, it’s not just tobacco. We were told that there, by law, you can grow three marijuana bushes for yourself. We even saw children smoking - a boy of about 12 smoked, and his mother stood next to him. I was shocked by this.

Streets of Pineda.

The sea here is stormy and deep. Moreover, deep very quickly. Beach sand plus small pebbles - the optimal combination. The beaches are clean, they are turned up every morning by special machines. The sea was no higher than 20 degrees. I never dared to swim, I’m actually not a fan, but here it’s cold, and deep, and wild - you can’t throw a mattress. In general, I am a person who loves to sit on the shore and look at the waves and breathe the wind.

During the trip, we visited Barcelona four times, three of which on our own along our own routes, frolicked in the Port Aventura amusement park, climbed Mount Montserrat, stopped in the town of Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava, went to Figueres to the Dali Theater and Museum and We stopped at Pubol Castle to visit Gala, and also got to Carcassonne Castle in France. I will tell you about all these attractions in separate posts, which will include photographs.

In general, the general conclusion from the trip: we had a good rest, but I don’t want to go back to Spain again, I’m full of it. I, unlike most of my friends, don’t want to live here at all. What I took from there in my heart, perhaps, was an increased love for the previously beloved Dali, for the port and fountains of Barcelona (about which I had an ambivalent impression, which I failed to love, but which I remembered and will remember) and the understanding that For some reason I miss Paris.

All of the above are my PERSONAL impressions, if yours are different, people are still different. I always look for Green's Caperna by the sea, and when I don't find it, I'm always disappointed. I need the blue sea, white houses, pickles and grays in droves, and boats. And so that peace and quiet and God's grace. That’s why I felt so good in Croatia and so bad in Turkey. Well, it's normal in Spain. OK, but not perfect. Something like that.

Photos of me and other participants of the trip will be separate posts, so as not to lump everything together. So there will be a lot of posts and they will be delicious. Get ready!
