The best way is to transfer by car, which can be rented. Take car rental in Hong Kong- not a problem, such services are provided by a lot of local and international companies.
It should be noted that a Russian driver's license does not give the right to drive a car in China. Even in Hong Kong it is worth mentioning that traffic is very heavy and on the right.
We recommend using transfers to China provided by the Vostokovod company.

How to get from Hong Kong to China (Shenzhen)

The China-Hong Kong border passes through the Shenzhen railway station, which has six checkpoints: Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To, Sha Tau Ko and Shenzhen Bay. So, in any case, you will first need to travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, and then to Guangzhou or anywhere in China. There are several ways to get from Hong Kong to Shenzhen and beyond: by bus, ferry or on foot.
Lo Wu - railway and pedestrian crossing
Lok Ma Chau Spur Line - pedestrian crossing
Lok Ma Chau and Sha Tau Kok - crossings for cross-border buses and pedestrians
Man Kam To and Shenzhen Bay Bridge are crossings for cross-border buses and transport.

Hong Kong-China border crossings: advantages and disadvantages

Lo Wu- this point can only be reached by the East Rail Line metro line, after which you can cross the border on foot. This is the cheapest way to get into China from Hong Kong: take the Hong Kong MTR to Kowloon Canton Railway (KCR) and take the KCR to the final station, which is called Lo. However, this point is often crowded on weekends and holidays, so if you want to avoid long lines, use other security checkpoints on these days. How to get there: The metro from Tsim Sha Tsui East to Lo Wu runs every five to eight minutes. After crossing the border you will find yourself in the Chinese district of Lo Hu. This option, which can be used to get to Lo Wu from anywhere in Hong Kong, will cost no more than 60-70 Hong Kong dollars. Shenzhen city center is located just outside the Chinese checkpoint.
Lok Ma Chau Spur: This checkpoint can be reached by the MTR East Rail Line, bus/minibus or taxi, but crossing the border is only possible on foot. The two-level Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang pedestrian bridge leads to the Chinese FuTian checkpoint. It's not very popular, so it's less crowded than Lo Wu. It should be noted that its operating time is slightly shorter than that of Lo Wu. How to get there: Although one of the two or three East Rail Line trains stops at this station, the point can be reached from Yuen Long by KMB (Kowloon Motor Bus) No. B1 or minibus No. 75. Just after the checkpoint on the Shenzhen side is Fu Tian MRT Station Checkpoint.
Lok Ma Chau: This crossing consists of separate corridors for pedestrians, which can be reached by bus, and for vehicles there is a single border control point, which is open 24 hours a day. A shuttle service known as the "Yellow Bus" operates between Lok Ma Chau Public Transport Interchange in San Tin and Huanggang Port on the PRC side. In addition, you can take express buses throughout Hong Kong, which will take you directly to the checkpoint. In both cases, passengers, having passed through the Hong Kong immigration checkpoint, will board the same bus on the other side of the checkpoint, which will then take them to Huanggang port on the Shenzhen side, where they will have to get off again and go through the Chinese checkpoint. How to get there: Lok Ma Chau Public Transport Interchange is served by KMB buses: 277, N277, 76K and 276B, you can also take the Yellow Bus. Alternatively, from Hong Kong itself you can take buses to the port (see "How to get from Hong Kong to China by bus" below). Already in Shenzhen there is a large taxi rank, and the bus stop is right behind the checkpoint, but far from the Fu Tian Checkpoint metro station.
Man Kam To: This checkpoint is mainly used by private vehicles and cross-border buses (see "How to get from Hong Kong to China by bus" below).
Sha Tau Kok: This checkpoint, located in the very east, can be reached by cross-border bus. It is quite far from the center of Shenzhen, but relatively uncrowded (see “How to get from Hong Kong to China by bus” below).
Shenzhen Bay Bridge: This checkpoint connects Hong Kong directly to Shekou, Shenzhen. It is intended for private vehicles and cross-border buses (see "How to get from Hong Kong to China by bus" below).
Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau can be easily reached by train, but it is not very easy to get directly from the arrival area to the train departure point.
There is also an option: take the metro to Tin Shui Wai station, where you change to a bus B2P, which for 8.5 Hong Kong dollars will take you to Shenzhen Wan - this is the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. You can also take a taxi - it costs a little more, about HK$10 per person. There is a bridge here, and in the same subdistrict of Shekou in the Nanshan district there is a border that is open 24 hours a day.
Concerning passage of the Hong Kong-China border, then a declaration for entry into China is filled out, which is presented to the border guard along with a passport with a valid visa to this country. According to the experience of experienced travelers, inspection when crossing the border is not carried out or is carried out purely symbolically - unless, of course, you are carrying almost a wholesale batch of any goods.

How to get from Hong Kong to China by ferry

You can also get to Shekou by ferry, which departs every hour from the ferry terminal at Hong Kong Central Ferry Station. An alternative way is from Pingzhou Pier, which is located southwest of central Hong Kong. You can get there by free (if you have a ferry ticket, which can be bought at the Garden Hotel) buses from the White Swan and Landmark Canton hotels. You can use Huangpu Pier on Ganqian Road. You can travel from Shekou to Guangzhou by train or bus. Experienced travelers advise using the bus because you still have to walk quite a distance from the pier to the railway station, and the bus station is located not far from the ferry station. But both trains and buses run very often.
And finally, the fastest and most convenient way if you arrive at the Hong Kong airport with luggage and don’t have the slightest desire to walk around the city with it in search of the right bus or metro is to take the ferry to Shenzhen directly from the airport in Hong Kong.

How to get from Hong Kong to China by bus

There are several cross-border buses that depart from business districts in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island to the checkpoint on the Chinese side. If you take these buses, then you will not have to change to the yellow bus, i.e. this is a good border crossing option to avoid queues.
There are six short haul lines serving the port:
Jordan, Kowloon departs from Scout Centre, Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (five minutes walk from Jordan MRT).
Mongkok, Kowloon departs from Portland Street, near Metropark Hotel Mongkok (exit from Prince Edward Hotel).
Wanchai, Hong Kong Island departs from Wanchai Ferry Bus Terminus.
Kwun Tong, Kowloon departs from Lam Tin MRT, stops at Kwun Tong APM Shopping Plaza and Kwun Tong Rd, Kowloon Bay MRT.
Tsuen Wan departs from Park Bus Terminus bus stop (ten minutes walk from Tsuen Wan metro station).
Kam Sheng Road departs from Kam Sheung Road West Rail Station.
Apart from the route to Kam Sheng Road, buses run 24 hours a day every half hour or every hour at full time and about 10-20 minutes during the day and evening.
Lok Ma Chau is a 24-hour border crossing between Hong Kong and China.
The Man Kam To checkpoint can be reached by taking a cross-border bus under the Sham Shui Po shopping center in West Kowloon (near Sham Shui Po MRT), which costs $35, the bus also stops at Landmark North (near Sheung Shui MRT) - from here travel will cost 22 USD. It is rarely crowded, even during high season. You can also use the free shuttle from the Chinese checkpoint to take you to Shenzhen's central square.
This best way to get to Shenzhen, especially on holidays.
The Sha Tau Kok checkpoint can be reached by taking a cross-border bus from Luen Wo Hui Interchange in Fanling and Kowloon Tong. It connects the eastern border of Hong Kong and Shenzhen and is slightly further from central Shenzhen. Therefore, very few passengers cross the border through this checkpoint.
Buses depart from Kowloon Tong MRT from 7:00 to 18:30 every 15 minutes and cost 20 USD, which is also the cheapest way to get to Shenzhen without transfers.
Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint connects Hong Kong directly to Shekou, Shenzhen and is conveniently accessible by public buses. Route B2 departs from Yuen Long Railway Station via Tin Shui Wai Station to Shenzhen Bay, and B3 departs from Tuen Mun Pier. There is also an express service from Sham Shui Po to Shenzhen Bay.

From Shenzhen to Guangzhou, and beyond - anywhere

Further, just a few hundred meters from the border with Hong Kong there is a special hall where you can buy tickets for trains from Shenzhen to Guangzhou, which go every 20-30 minutes. The ticket costs about 70 yuan, and the travel time is almost an hour.
The Shenzhen - Guangzhou express ticket office is located on the left side of the station building when facing it, and has a separate entrance under the stairs from the overpass that leads to the shopping center and the passage to Hong Kong. Landing is also done here. The inscriptions contain the abbreviation CRH, and all signs are also duplicated in English.
Please note that most trains only go to Guangzhou East Station, so when boarding it is worth checking which station your train arrives at. Trains leave for Guangzhou Central Station approximately once an hour.
The imminent opening of the new Shenzhen North Railway Station, which is planned for the end of June 2011, will make traveling from Hong Kong to China even easier and more convenient. The new station will link the cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen with Hong Kong, as well as Xiamen and Shenzhen and Shenzhen metro lines 4 and 5. After the opening of the new line, the journey from Hong Kong to Shenzhen will take only 16 minutes, from Shenzhen to Guangzhou - 25 minutes instead of an hour. The city of Wuhan can be reached in 3 hours, and Beijing in 8 hours.

As you know, there are now problems with obtaining visas to China, but there is a loophole, even two.
One obtaining a visa for 5 days in Shenzhen and the second one month in China in Hong Kong from the famous Mr. Shao
Below is about the 5 day visa:

If you urgently need to get from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, but do not have a visa... then you can get a 5-day visa at the Lo Wu/Luohu border crossing (Hong Kong-Shenzhen). Visa to Lo Wu/Luohu is issued from 6.00-23.30 hours.

So, you are in Hong Kong. At the border in Hong Kong you may be asked: “Where is the visa to China?” Feel free to answer that you will receive a 5-day visa to Shenzhen at the Chinese border.

After crossing the Hong Kong border, without getting in line with the Chinese customs officers, turn left and go up the escalator to the 2nd floor, to the visa office. Fill out a short form in the simplest form, which indicates your full name, passport number, date of birth, nationality, passport expiration date, residential address in Shenzhen and signature. I didn’t indicate the address, but the official said that it didn’t really matter.

To the right of the entrance to the office there is an automatic registration desk for visitors; click on the icon and a receipt with a number will come out. Submit this receipt along with your passport and application form. If you are not a young girl, then problems, as a rule, do not arise. The official checks the documents, says OK and hands the documents to the neighbor.

There is an electronic display above each window; when your number appears, you will need to come up. The second approach to an official is based on payment. The cost of a 5-day visa for Russians is 393 yuan. You can pay in cash or using a Chinese card. There is a sign that they accept credit cards, possibly Russian ones, but there is only the Unionpay logo.

The total time from starting to fill out the application form to receiving my passport with a visa took me 9 minutes. The visa takes up the entire page of the passport; the type of visa is not indicated, only the number.

The visa is only valid within Shenzhen. In principle, people can travel outside of Shenzhen on these visas, but then there will be problems when checking into hotels. Visas are not checked on domestic trains and planes.
Unfortunately, travel is also only possible to Hong Kong. You cannot, for example, fly to Beijing and fly there to a foreign country.

The same 5-day visa is issued 24 hours a day at the Huangan border crossing (Shenzhen-Hong Kong) and, according to as yet unconfirmed data, at the ferry terminal in Shekou.

If you are going to Guangzhou, Shenzhen or another city in southern China, then it makes sense to go to Hong Kong, since you do not need a visa (for up to 14 days). There you can walk among the skyscrapers, breathe the sea air and go to the Big Buddha. This trip will add variety to your business travel, and tickets to Hong Kong may be cheaper than to Guangzhou or Shenzhen. If you follow this advice and fly to Hong Kong, it will be helpful to know how to get from Hong Kong to mainland China.

Hong Kong borders the Chinese city of Shenzhen. You can get there from Hong Kong by subway, minivan or ferry. We chose the metro. I'll tell you how it was.

You need to go to Lo Wu station or Lok Ma Chau (the last stations on the blue line). The border at Lo Wu is busier as the line goes to Shenzhen Central Station. Therefore, we decided to cross the border at Lok Ma Chau station.

We boarded the East Tsim Sha Tsui MRT at 5:25 pm. The fare was 39.5 HKD. At 18:05 we were at the border. First there was Hong Kong customs. There was a monstrous crowd of people and several queues. We stood in one of the long queues. To our surprise, the line moved smoothly, and we got through quite quickly. We thought it was Chinese passport control and were surprised that we were not stamped to enter the country. The guard we met explained that Chinese passport control was ahead. An even more impressive number of people gathered there. But the line moved so fast that we barely had time to fill up the Arrival Card. It took us about an hour to get through both checkpoints.

So, we ended up in China. It's time to switch to a new currency. There are Bank of China ATMs right behind passport control, so we had no trouble withdrawing money using a bank card. It makes sense to withdraw, say, not 500 yuan, but 490. The fact is that you can continue your journey by subway, and large bills are not accepted in the machines for buying tokens. A metro ride for three people cost us 12 yuan (the cost depends on the distance, we traveled 8 stations without transfers). The metro is clean, comfortable and modern. There are elevators and toilets inside. One of the inconveniences is that luggage is scanned at every entrance to the metro. This is acceptable at regular stations, but creates long queues at this crowded station.
