The resort town of Salou in Spain. Tours to the hotel Best Cap Salou Spain best cap salou 3 stars

Hotel location

The hotel is located in a quiet, picturesque location between the resorts. The hotel is located in a quiet, picturesque location between the resorts of La Pineda and Salou, closer to Salou, in the area called Cap Salou. This is a small village between two of the most popular and lively resorts. Both are close, getting there is quick and quite convenient. So, if you are looking for a quiet place, but without problems with infrastructure, Cap Salou is a good option.

There are several supermarkets and cafes in Cap Salou. You will not find expensive luxury restaurants here; for such pleasure you will have to go to Salou or La Pineda.

There is a bus stop next to the hotel, literally 10 minutes at a leisurely pace. You can get to Port Aventura Park, Salou, La Pineda, Tarragona, etc.

And another advantage of the location of the Best Cap Salou hotel is the first line. And not just the first line, but the beach, literally, under the hotel windows. For the Costa Dorada, especially considering that this is a 3-star hotel, this is a rarity.

So, hotel guests do not need to go anywhere or walk for a long time to swim in the sea and lie on the beach.

Territory

The area of the Best Cap Salou hotel is very small. This is the hotel building itself, 6 floors, parking and a small courtyard with a swimming pool.

Keep in mind that during the high season - summer - the hotel has a lot of guests. And a small area simply cannot cope with this number of vacationers.

As for cleaning the area, the problem is the same. When the hotel is 100% occupied, the staff simply cannot keep up.

hotel courtyard

Numbers

The rooms at the Best Cap Salou Hotel are all approximately the same. The only significant difference is in the location of the rooms.

The furnishings are minimal - beds, a spacious wardrobe, a coffee table, chairs, TV, air conditioning, a balcony. It will be a bit cramped for a family with two children.

In the bathroom there is not a shower, but a bath. There is a bidet.

The noisiest rooms are those facing the road in front of the hotel. Rooms with windows facing the courtyard are quieter.

In addition, the rooms have very poor soundproofing. This is generally typical for Spanish hotels.

The rooms also have a safe, but it comes at an additional cost. And it is very small in size, even a regular DSLR camera will not fit in its case.

Infrastructure

The hotel has a dining room, a small gym, a small outdoor pool, a SPA center with an indoor pool and hammam, a children's playground, a tennis court, a volleyball court, a snack bar, a pizzeria, a parking lot, a hairdresser, and a children's club. In the summer there are animators.

Restaurant and food

The dining room, although quite spacious, becomes a bit cramped when the hotel is full. The waiters try, but do not always manage to clean quickly and cleanly.

The food is quite varied, but budget-friendly. It feels like it's still a threesome. Although they provide champagne in the morning, this does not greatly brighten up the taste of cheap sausages and cheeses. Drinks are free only in the morning. At lunch and dinner - all drinks are paid, but this is also typical for all hotels in Spain and the Costa Dorada.

It is better to take half board if you are going to spend a lot of time at the hotel. If your priority is travel and excursions, breakfast will suffice. If something happens, you can have dinner or lunch here at the hotel for an additional fee. Prices for lunch or dinner are fixed, there is a separate rate for adults, and less for children. Often, if you are lucky with an employee, he will simply let the child in for free.

According to reviews from hotel guests, the biggest drawback of the restaurant is poorly washed dishes. It is very common to find plates, cups and cutlery with food leftovers.

The hotel also has a pizzeria. Prices are approximately in the same range as in other similar establishments in Cap Salou.

Beach

The Best Cap Salou hotel, as already mentioned, is located on the first line, just a few tens of meters from the beach.

The hotel’s beach is not its own, as many tourists believe, but a municipal one. Therefore, entry to it is free and completely free. On weekends there are many locals and tourists from other hotels here. It's getting really crowded.

Sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach are paid, but you can sunbathe on a blanket or air mattress.

The beach is a small bay, naturally fenced with rocky outcroppings. In the bay itself, the water is renewed slowly, because neither wind nor currents enter here. So, the water warms up quickly, but self-cleanses very poorly.

The entrance is gentle, the depth is shallow, the bottom is sandy - ideal for children, even the smallest.

You can walk along the coast to the side of the hotel, there will also be coves with beaches.

Service

The main disadvantage of the service at the Best Cap Salou hotel is cleaning. They are removed more for show than for cleanliness. Even tips won't help.

And this applies not only to cleaning in the rooms, but throughout the entire hotel, including the courtyard, restaurant and pool.

The hotel has Russian-speaking staff, which is undoubtedly an advantage.

Overall the staff is friendly.

Tour prices and room rates

The hotel is one of the cheapest, which is why it is so popular. And considering its location and the beach, although not its own, but in close proximity to the hotel, the price seems tempting.

During the high season - until the end of August - the cost of a room for double occupancy is about 150 euros. At the same time, there may not be any available rooms. So, it’s better to book a hotel for July-August in the spring. Moreover, it is cheaper to book through third-party agencies than on the official website of the Best chain.

They are chosen by older people, families with small children and tourists who prefer a budget, relaxing holiday, excursions, shopping, rather than wild entertainment. Prices are moderate, no fuss, no city noise and dust, entertainment venues nearby. The beach is within walking distance; if you wish, you can also sunbathe by the pool.

The sea is warm, relatively clean, with a sandy bottom and a gentle entrance, absolutely safe for swimming even for the smallest children.

Resort towns and the capital of the region with a large number of attractions, shopping areas, and cultural events are located nearby.

In bad weather or when you don’t want to travel far, it is possible to send your child to a mini-club, do aerobics, exercise equipment, attend evening shows, pay for beauty treatments, bowling, a sauna, etc.

The rooms are simple, spacious, with a minimum set of necessary furniture, a bathroom and a balcony. Meal options range from breakfast only to all-inclusive buffets. There is a bar, a snack bar and a pizzeria.

Rooms

1 of 6

The six-story building Best Cap Salou has a total of 497 rooms. They can accommodate from two to five people. There are three options to choose from:

  1. Double room for two.
  2. Triple room for three.
  3. Quadruple room for four people.

The size of each room is sixteen square meters. Consists of a bedroom and a bathroom, as well as a terrace or balcony. The windows can overlook a neighboring building, the sea, a swimming pool or a parking lot.

A distinctive feature is the availability of rooms for people with disabilities. They tried to take into account all the features as much as possible: to facilitate movement and stay on vacation.

Since the hotel has three stars, you shouldn’t expect any frills. But everything you need for a comfortable stay is there, including:

  • bath or shower;
  • air conditioner;
  • TV with satellite channels;
  • telephone;
  • towels;
  • shampoo and other detergents.

Furniture includes beds, a coffee table, as well as a spacious wardrobe and chairs. It is possible to use a small safe and refrigerator for a fee. There is no kettle, so if you like to drink tea in your room, you should take your own.

The hotel was reconstructed in 2000; in 2013-2014, many rooms were updated, including the lobby, bar and restaurant.

Nutrition

1 of 4

Various solutions are available to tourists:

  1. Breakfast only.
  2. Half board (HB – half board). These are breakfasts and dinners.
  3. Full board (FB – full board). Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.
  4. "All inclusive".

Guests eat in the main restaurant on a buffet basis. There is no separate menu for children, but special small chairs are at their disposal. There is also a large selection of dishes and products; they always serve dairy products, eggs, and fruits that are healthy for the developing body. Judging by the reviews of tourists, chefs usually delight with delicious dinners: meat, various side dishes, sweets, soups, fish and seafood, salads, ice cream. What is unusual is that champagne is served for breakfast, but soft drinks, tea or coffee are served from a machine.

If your package does not include dinners or lunches, you can pay for them if you wish. The cost is fixed, prices are lower for children.

Would you like to have a snack or a cocktail? Stop by the on-site snack bar or pizzeria, crunch some nuts and sip lemonade at the pool bar.

Staff

The staff is polite and friendly, many speak Russian. The rooms are cleaned daily and bed linen is changed 1-2 times a week. Make sure there is soap, shampoo, and fresh towels. Add as needed. In the restaurant, due to the large number of vacationers, they do not always have time to remove the plates and put new ones on time, but any issues are resolved. Sometimes a child can be allowed into a restaurant for free with their parents if mom/dad buys their own dishes.

Entertainment and animation

1 of 6

With the package, vacationers can swim in an outdoor and indoor heated pool, go to the gym and do aerobics. There is a cinema hall. Show programs are organized two to three times a week. For example, a flamenco show.

For children, the hotel staff has provided a separate pool and playground. During the hottest summer season there is a mini-club for tourists aged 4-12 years.

Paid services are also provided. Among them:

  • all kinds of treatments in the SPA center;
  • tennis court with hard surface;
  • sauna;
  • table tennis tables;
  • billiards,
  • hamam;
  • salon;
  • bowling;
  • game room;
  • massage:
  • consultation and examination by a doctor.

There are animators, but the main task of the workers is to provide a calm and leisurely rest. There are no particularly incendiary, unique and interesting competitions or events held here. The main emphasis is on the excursion program and the freedom of choice of the tourist. If you want, spend whole days on the beach or exploring the surrounding area, taking beautiful photos, shooting videos as a souvenir. If you want, train actively, play on sports fields, explore the assortment of local stores, relax in the jacuzzi, sauna, or swimming pool.

Beach

In the Costa Dorada resort and in Spain in general, the beaches are public, so locals, visitors, and anyone can lounge in the sun along with the hotel guests. This must be taken into account and you must choose the hours for sunbathing in advance, especially on weekends. The territory is not very large, but there are quite a lot of people who want to swim in the sea, sometimes there are not enough places. But you don’t have to go far; virtually everything is visible from the window of the room.

The entrance is free. You will have to pay for amenities in the form of umbrellas and other things, but no one forces you to spend money. If you want, bring air mattresses, blankets or towels with you and sit on them.

In fact, this beach is a bay, which is fenced with rocky outcroppings. Neither the current nor the wind penetrates inside. The water clears slowly, but warms up quickly. There is sand at the bottom, it is shallow, the entrance is gentle - all this makes the sea attractive for family holidays. Even very little ones, with the supervision of their parents, will have nothing to fear here.

Location and surroundings

1 of 3

Best Cap Salou is located in a very quiet and picturesque place - between the resort towns of La Pineda and Salou, in the Cap Salou area. The small village is very calm, there are no noisy establishments, a large number of roads with honking cars, or public transport. The bus stop is nearby; you can walk to it in ten minutes at a slow pace. From the airport it is as much as 110 kilometers.

The hotel area is tiny: a cozy courtyard with a swimming pool, parking and the building itself.

To buy some small items and have a snack, vacationers usually go to nearby supermarkets and cafes. But for impressions and haute cuisine, head to neighboring cities. Usually you can get to them by train, bus, car, or walk. If you choose the latter option, spend about half an hour.

An extensive excursion program is offered. For example, thematic or sightseeing trips to the cultural capital of Spain - Barcelona, Valencia or Montserrat. Shopping tours to Andorra are organized.

Also, as a rule, tourists independently visit Tarragona (the capital of the region), Reus, and nearby resorts. By the way, many interesting musical events will take place in Tarragona in August 2019. Festivals are also held in other months, you just need to look at the poster in advance. And Tarragona itself is a whole collection of attractions. The old town was built in the 2nd century BC, it has preserved a unique atmosphere of antiquity, a Roman amphitheater, a Mediterranean balcony and a university.

Salou is ideal for leisurely walks along the promenade and evening dinners in restaurants. During the day you can ride a bike, look at the old tower, private villas, and the Catalan manor. La Pineda breathes beautifully; in fact, it is one large pine grove with clean beaches, an impressive sports complex and a water park.

Reus is famous for the Gaudi Museum and a huge number of shops, boutiques, and souvenir shops.

Friends, I am publishing for you a review about a vacation in such a popular place - Salou, Spain. Many people choose this resort on the Costa Dorada for their holiday. I have repeatedly shared pleasant memories of my trips to Spain, which has captivated my friends. And they went along our route for a holiday in Salou in October 2017. We were very pleased with the trip, and now, at my request, they tell us everything, everything: how they prepared for their first trip to Spain, how it went, what impressed us. So, I provide the “broadcast” to Natasha and Tolya.

Greetings to all readers of the blog “Traveling around Europe” - a useful blog in all respects! For us, he became a real inspiration and guide to action! We heard Tatyana’s enthusiastic reviews about Spain from time to time, but somehow it was difficult for us to relate to our immediate reality. We didn’t have visas, and to open Schengen, you need to go to another city...

Tanya probably published especially for us how to apply for a visa. We carefully followed all the recommendations outlined in the article, booked a hotel, took out insurance and received a visa for a year! Imagine, my first trip to Europe, and already a year-long Schengen!

Everything worked out more than successfully with regard to air tickets. We were planning to relax in Spain at the beginning of October, and for these days tickets from the Pobeda company appeared at an excellent price - 11 thousand per person for a round-trip flight without a transfer from Moscow to Reus. And as it turned out, Reus airport is a 20-minute drive from Cap Salou, where we decided to stay.

How to get from the airport to the hotel

We were a little puzzled by the question of how we would get from the airport to our destination. We assumed that we would have to take a taxi for about 20 euros. But here's a pleasant surprise! At the exit from the terminal, a comfortable bus with a luggage compartment and air conditioning was waiting, ready to take everyone to the coast. And this is only 2 euros per person!

We were heading to Cap Salou, and this point is included in the bus route. Before we knew it, the driver had already announced the desired stop.

All we have to do is go down this path to our hotel, which is located right next to the sea.

Hotel review

I must say that we booked the hotel through this blog, as well as the air tickets. It turned out to be so easy! We liked the hotel that Tatyana told us about - Best Negresco, 4 stars. We used the direct link, went to the booking site and booked accommodation with half board for the dates that suited us.

When we arrived at the place, the hotel simply charmed us! White as a ship, it stood out surrounded by palm trees of various shapes and tall pine trees, through which the bright blue of the Mediterranean Sea appeared. Quiet and not crowded.

We were received at the reception by an employee who speaks Russian. We paid for the room upon arrival. It was possible to pay in cash or by credit card. We received a room with a view of the sea, the picturesque rocky coast and the pool.

And this is what the hotel looks like from the pool side. Somewhere there is our balcony in the central part of the building:

The hotel made a good impression not only with its appearance. Everything about it is comfortable. The rooms are neat and comfortable, there was an employee at the reception on every shift who could speak Russian. In the evenings, the bar provided entertainment.

The restaurant deserves special praise with such a variety of dishes that everyone will find something to suit their taste. Fish and seafood were often served, every day there was an abundance of fruit and cakes, several types of juice were offered and even champagne in the morning! But drinks at dinner need to be paid extra.

Cap Salou

What is Cap Salou? Such a wooded area that complements Salou. The small area is densely planted with pineda pine, and this planting separates several hotels from the center, including Best Negresco. This is what the pine grove looks like from the side of the cliff where the hotel is located:

Getting from Cap Salou to the town center is easy, as buses run quite often. We immediately bought a T-10 transport card from the Bas Plana tour desk next to the hotel, and the trips cost us 1.20 euros. And I’ll immediately warn all those who like to walk late: the latest buses in Salou can only accept payment for travel in cash, sometimes you cannot use a transport card.

You can get from the hotel to the center on foot - the distance is about two kilometers. Between the pine grove and the sea there is a pedestrian-friendly path to Saloy (take a closer look at the previous photo). And if you go in the opposite direction from the hotel, there are small supermarkets.

Beach in Cap Salou

And what a delight the beach near the hotel is! It stretched for about half a kilometer, or a little less.

This is one large bay, but it is divided by ledges of the rocky shore so that small beaches protected from the wind are formed. Such cozy little nooks, and each one has a shower. What we don't have are locker rooms. But they are not really needed there.

The sea is quite calm, but the guards are always on duty:

Entry into the water is very convenient. The depth approaches so smoothly that even those who are afraid of this depth can safely enter. In the clear water you can see every fish (they swim there in small schools) and every pebble. And the waves manage to break up towards the shore into small whitecaps. What can I tell you! Take a better look and imagine that you are there too.

When we rested, the water temperature remained 24-23 degrees. But the air was cooler in the morning. But after 11 am the weather became truly summer, and we swam.

City of Salou

We explored the resort town quite a bit. We only took a walk on the avenue, which stretches along the sea. The avenue is nice - covered in palm trees, with several fountains. There are also many shops open there. They mainly sell souvenirs and items that are in demand at the resort. The restaurant area is located on the embankment near the sea.

In Salou you can take a train to travel around the area and see local attractions or get to the Port Aventura amusement park.

But we were interested in sights more distant, especially Barcelona and Montserrat. For this reason, we did not spend precious days of our holiday walking around Salou.

What we visited

Tarragona

Already on the day of arrival we went to Tarragona. We heard that this is a very attractive city and went for a walk in the center. Getting to Tarragona is as easy as shelling pears - we got on the bus at a stop next to the hotel, paid for the fare with the same T-10 card, and after 15-20 minutes we were already at the curious monument.

The monument is very original. And it's much bigger than it appears in the photo.

So we all walked along this cozy street, like an alley, and along the way we met sculptures and fountains. And we reached a wonderful observation deck, which offers amazing views of the sea and the port of Tarragona. That's why the place is called the balcony of the Mediterranean. And to the side you can see the ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheater.

To see more, we took advantage of a tourist train traveling around. Tarragona also has an excellent port, and we lingered there, looking at the luxury yachts.

Barcelona

One day was undoubtedly destined for Barcelona. Gaudí's city of whimsical architecture was at the top of our list of interests. We read Tatyana’s detailed instructions on how to get there and easily repeated everything. Imagine, for several years even the ticket price has not changed! The cost of travel from Salou to Barcelona was 8.80 euros, and remains so. And we have no doubt that it will remain the same in the coming years.

You can’t see Barcelona in one day, so we chose several priorities. Of course, we visited the legendary Sagrada Familia. And as soon as they saw this one, they gasped in amazement.

Powerful, global! You feel admiration for the craftsmen who think through every detail of this great structure. We did not allocate time for an excursion to the temple, but we examined it from all sides.

We got to the embankment, and not only walked along it, but also boarded a pleasure boat and sailed along the entire city coast. How great Barcelona looks from the sea!

On the embankment, of course, I was very impressed. And there, nearby, the famous one begins with exhibitions of paintings, a flower market, and living sculptures.

I wanted to see more in Barcelona, but the day flew by in a flash! We also left a list of attractions for the next trip.

Montserrat and Torres

An obligatory point of our trip was. We looked at the agency next to the hotel and asked what excursions from Salou in that direction they offered. It turned out that there is a trip combining Montserrat and Torres. Russian-speaking group, excursion cost 38 euros per person. Not enough time for two such interesting places, but we decided to take advantage.

What to say? Montserrat is stunning! The beauty is incredible!

We had several hours to visit the monastery complex and walk along at least one of the routes. We chose the road leading to the viewpoint with the cross of St. Michael.

We examined the territory of the monastery with the main square. It’s amazing how they could build a complex of incredible beauty at such a height, and how naturally the creations of nature and human hands are intertwined here.

Dear readers, who will be planning a trip to, come to this fantastic corner for the whole day. We were very sorry to leave such beauty after a few hours. But the Torres wine cellars were still waiting for us. At the request of the owner of the blog, we talk about it separately.

Travel budget

We anticipate questions about how much the trip cost us, so we will inform you about the main expenses. Our trip lasted a week. Basic expenses amounted to 90 thousand. This included: hotel for two, half board – 36 thousand; flight Moscow-Reus – 23 thousand; transport costs, including travel from Reus airport and back, as well as tickets to Barcelona - 6 thousand; excursion program - 10 thousand, meals for lunch in cafes and restaurants - 15 thousand. A separate item was spending on souvenirs and gifts.

What did you like most about your holiday in Salou?

Many people ask us what we liked the most. This question is difficult to answer because we liked EVERYTHING. Since our vacation was short, only 8 days, and we wanted to see a lot, we tried to get the most out of every minute - from excursions, from swimming, from walking surrounded by exotic plants.

And the location of the hotel is simply amazing! We are glad that we listened to Tatiana’s recommendations. Now, inevitably, on our next trips we will compare the conditions with how one autumn we ended up in the paradise of Cap Salou and spent several unforgettable days!

The apartments are simply gorgeous, all the furniture is intact, not shabby, all the plumbing works perfectly. They cleaned thoroughly, quite often, they washed the floors every time and changed towels without asking. The territory of Best Cap Salou is not very large, but at the same time it is simply surrounded by greenery. The hotel is located at a sufficient distance from the bustle of the city, so this place is perfect for those who want to enjoy peace and tranquility on vacation. You can get to the center without any problems if you wish, if you don’t have enough of the hectic and noisy life or just to stroll around the beautiful town. Our tours included only breakfasts and dinners, which I can say are the most standard, there is a choice, so you won’t go hungry, even if you are a very picky eater. We were very surprised that in addition to standard drinks (tea, coffee), they also served champagne in the morning)) There are a variety of dinners: soup, several types of meat, a couple of types of fish, various side dishes, ice cream, fruits, sweets, pastries and much more tasty and interesting. The beach at the hotel is very clean and well-groomed. In principle, we did not see any serious shortcomings. Spain is an indescribably beautiful country, I really want to go back!

Hello! This summer we finally went to the sea. The hotel is located near the city of Salou. Along a special tourist trail, you can reach the city within 20 minutes. The hotel itself is normal, next to it there are 2 clean, although not very huge, sandy beaches. The trip included breakfast and dinner, and for lunch we went to local establishments. The food is excellent, you can come up with new dishes for yourself every day. The convenient location of the hotel allows you to take excursions to various interesting and beautiful cities. The nature is simply magnificent, there are many coniferous trees. The air is simply excellent.

My friends and I decided to go to Best Cap Salou, because... We chose a not very expensive place. The hotel fully met all our expectations, even more than that. We didn’t pay extra for the view, so our windows faced the main entrance. The soundproofing of the rooms is simply excellent; not a single sound came from the street into the room. The room was very standard, but I was pleasantly surprised that the towels in the room were changed every day without any reminders from us. For breakfast we had fresh fried pancakes, scrambled eggs with various toppings and 2 types of champagne. In general, the food was tasty and filling, and we didn’t go hungry. We were lucky with the weather; not a day was cloudy, the sea was warm, the beach near the hotel was good and clean. In the evenings we traveled around the area; the sunsets were, of course, simply superb. We visited Salou a couple of times; walking one way took us about 30 minutes no more. But there is also a train for those who don’t like walking, it costs about 3 euros. We also visited Tarragona. But in general you can get to various cities, we just didn’t have much time, we wanted to spend as much time as possible on the seashore.

Based on all the hotels we have seen, this one has convenient access to the sea, which is very wonderful when you are relaxing with a small child. The beach is literally a stone's throw away. We vacationed at the beginning of summer, so there were few people, which was very pleasing. The apartments are clean and tidy. The food fully meets the requirements of the stars that the hotel has. The location of the hotel is excellent, right opposite there are various cafes where the prices are very reasonable and the food is delicious. Various animation programs are held in the evenings, so you definitely won’t get bored! Wi-Fi is excellent in the hotel lobby and in the rooms.
