Description:

About 25 excursions!
One of them.... My trip with tourists along the route: Chinese San Xien Temple, Khao Chi Chan Golden Mountain, floating market, Golden Buddha Mountain, Sanctuary of Truth, herbal steam baths (Sursee massage). Everything seems to be fine. The excursion seemed to be going well. But as they say, not without a fly in the ointment. The floating market is now paid - 200 baht per person. And a park was built around the Temple of Truth and now to enter the temple you have to pay 500 baht from your face. It seems that leading Russian tour operators in Thailand are lobbying for their interests. So for 50 baht per person we took a photo of this monumental structure from the observation deck. Everything else went well and the tourists were very pleased, especially the final wellness event with herbal steam rooms and a swimming pool.

How to find the best place to live in Pattaya? Everyone has their own needs and our article will help you choose the best place to stay.
When visiting Pattaya, choosing the right area to stay is as important as choosing the right hotel. Those looking to experience Pattaya's nightlife and energy will want to stay in a different area than those looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.

That's why this guide has been created - to help you choose the best area in Pattaya that suits your needs. We've also included a few recommended hotels in each area for you to take a look at.

The most ideal place to live is Central Pattaya. It is located in a great location with restaurants, nightlife and shopping within walking distance. If this is your first trip to Pattaya, then Central Pattaya is ideal.

Below we'll go through each area so you can have a good idea of what to expect and be able to decide which part is right for you.

North Pattaya

The further north you go in Pattaya, the quieter it becomes. At the same time, the city area is home to some major international hotel brands and is a quieter area of the city with less noise. On the downside, Soi 6 is not so far away, where a lot of Pattaya’s night bars are concentrated.

To the north of Soi 6 life is more relaxed. However, there are beer bars and massage parlors (such as Honey 2 or Sabai Dee).
This area is most suitable for those who want a quiet stay, but still close enough to transport links. There are a lot of motorbikers and songthaews, good accessibility to other areas of Pattaya.
Pros:

  • Quiet place
  • Soi 6
  • a little away from the center of Pattaya
  • bad place for nightlife

Near:
Shopping: Central Beach, Harbor Shopping Center, Big C Extra

Nightlife: Soi 6, beer bars.

Attractions: Tiffany Cabaret, Alcazar Cabaret.
Good hotels:
Siam @ Siam Design Hotel Pattaya
August Suites Pattaya
March Hotel

Central Pattaya

If you want to stay in a place that has everything you need or need within walking distance, Central Pattaya is the place for you. There is a sea of restaurants, bars and shops nearby.

This area of the city is the center of nightlife. The streets are lined with beer bars from Beach Road to 3rd Street. The busiest area of Soi Buahao, Soi Diana and LK Metro.
If you want to get to soi 6 or Walking street, songthaews run here for 10 baht (in any direction).
This is a recommended area for regular visitors to Pattaya.
Pros:

  • Close to everything
  • Nightlife Center
  • Large selection of restaurants
  • Close to shopping centers and markets
  • A lot of people
  • Hotels are noisy as nightlife ends by 3am.
  • High prices in cafes and restaurants

What's nearby:

Shopping: Central Festival, Royal Garden Shopping Centre, Avenue Shopping Centre, Harbor Shopping Centre, Big C.

Nightlife: Soi Buakhao, Soi Diana, Soi Made in Thailand, LK MRT... and many more to mention.

Hotels:
Adelphi Hotel
Sea Me Spring Tree
Areca Lodge
(All hotels allow girls to be brought into the room).

South Pattaya

The South Pattaya area starts at South Street and continues to Jomtien. . Not an ideal place to stay if you don't like Walking Street and plan to sleep.
South Pattaya is starting to become much calmer and more suitable towards Sukhumvit. There are also secluded spots closer to Pratumnak.

This area is best for those who want some quiet time, with occasional trips into the city. At the same time, accessibility to Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier is maintained.
Pros:

  • Close to Walking Street (could also be a negative for some)
  • There are quiet areas
  • Good selection of hotels
  • Nightlife is dying out towards Sukhumvit
  • Need to get to the city center

Jomtien

Jomtien Beach is located south of Pattaya and has a more relaxing and quiet atmosphere. The place resembles a quiet resort region; there are many not only tourists, but also Thais.

The Jomtien area has some of the best beaches in Pattaya and several major attractions such as Nong Nooch Gardens. Jomtien extends far south of Pattaya and depending on the hotel you choose, it can take you 30-40 minutes to reach Pattaya.
There are many hotels and condominiums in the area where Russians live. There are cafes and night bars, but for nightlife it is better to go to Central Pattaya.

  • Best beaches
  • Quiet place

The services of a guide to an unfamiliar exotic country are sometimes simply necessary. After all, no one wants to waste time because they don’t know the place well. On vacation, every lost minute is a drop of disappointment in the overall collection of impressions. Therefore, many travelers (especially when traveling to the country for the first time) take care of ordering the services of a guide in advance.

The cost of a guide to Pattaya may unpleasantly surprise you, but inflated prices for services in the resort city are not news. In particular, the services of a Russian guide in Pattaya are expensive, since there are significantly fewer of them than English-speaking ones, and the demand for them is quite high.

Guides from Thailand: advantages and disadvantages

You can choose an inexpensive option for guide services if you seek help from street agencies, which are available at every turn in Pattaya. Undoubtedly, the story of a local resident about his hometown will sound much more interesting and lively than memorized facts from the lips of a guide working in a travel agency.

Among the disadvantages, you should beware of deception, since many scammers would like to “warm up their hand” on gullible and adventurous tourists. Be very careful when choosing a conductor on the Internet. Now Russian guides in Pattaya are once avid travelers who decided to stay in a resort town they liked and tell new tourists about Thai secrets. A wonderful story from a man with extensive route experience will appeal to every tourist who craves more than just dry facts.

How to avoid falling for fraudulent guides in Pattaya

Fraud, unfortunately, is everywhere. And the tourism sector is no exception. In order not to fall for the tricks of travel companies, which naturally want to earn as much as possible, be careful when studying not only the contract, but also the offer itself. Very often there were complaints among travelers that they were sold “incomplete” excursions, that is, they did not include either meals or a visit to any famous attraction. Having fallen for such a deception, you have to fork out extra money on the spot.

First, I’ll tell you about the city itself. No matter what they say, I liked Pattaya! The first thing I noticed was the smell, the smell of various spices, it was everywhere, it seemed to me that even my toothpaste, which I brought with me, smelled of the same spices. True, the next day everything returned to normal. And the smells didn’t seem so strong.
I lived in the center, not far from the famous Walking Street, in the 3* Beverly Plaza Hotel. More about the hotel a little later. I don’t regret at all that I settled in this place. Everything you needed was nearby. No problems with transport (tuk-tuks, taxis, bikes) at any time, during the day or late at night. Tourists have already written quite a lot about WalkingStreet. She comes to life in the evening around five to six o'clock. The street becomes completely pedestrian. Here you will find cafes and bars and discos and various depraved establishments, barkers at every turn, illuminations, dancing girls, Thai boxing, magicians, in short, everything to have a blast or just to gawk. After passing through WalkingStreet, if you manage not to get stuck in some hot or not so hot place, you can go to the embankment. There are also cafes, shops and shops, souvenir shops. You probably won't be able to swim in this area.
For those who live in the center, the closest thing is to take a tuk-tuk to the beach near the Pattaya Park Hotel, the Pattaya Park Hotel tower can serve as a landmark.

In general, the beaches in Jomtien are not bad.

0 0

But this is if for some reason it was not possible to get to the island beaches. Which, by the way, is not a problem at all. Whether you want to go by ferry or by boat. Ferry to the island Koh Lan costs only 30 baht. The boat costs about 3000 baht. Another reason why I settled in this area is the proximity to the pier from which the ferry departs, only 7-10 minutes. walk from the hotel.
In general, I highly recommend arming yourself with a map. And believe as little as possible in everything you hear from the guides, because... almost everything they say is a lie. I will also write about this below.
Everyone knows that the highlight of a holiday in Thailand is seafood. There is no shortage of them in Pattaya. Prices vary widely. If we talk about cafes and restaurants in the WalkingStreet area and in the center in general, then it’s quite expensive here (by my standards, of course). But a little further from the center, for example, in the Pattaya Park area, prices are lower. It's simple - the further from the center the lower the prices. Also, throughout the city, both day and evening, you can see mobile trays (from someone I heard the name “makashnitsa”) on which food is prepared and sold. Here you can try fish and seafood.

And don't be afraid to do this, the food here is fresher and better than in some cafes. Fruits are also sold from the same mobile trays, fruits are more expensive than in the markets. All over the city there are cafes and restaurants with completely different cuisines: Thai, Indian, European, McDonald's and KFC, and for those who have missed borscht, okroshka and kebabs, there is a fairly large selection of cafes with Russian cuisine. You can also taste seafood and fish in the markets: choose live crabs, oysters, mussels, huge shrimp, etc. and they will prepare them for you right away, there are tables nearby, and at the neighboring stalls you can buy alcohol, juices, and fruits.
And, of course, everyone associates Thailand with massage. Denying yourself this pleasure is simply a sin! There are a lot of massage parlors in Pattaya. The pattern is the same as with restaurants: further from the main streets is cheaper. The types of massage are very different, including the famous Thai massage, aroma massage with oils, after-sun massages, foot and head massages and spa treatments, etc. This is real bliss! Don't deny yourself this pleasure. I couldn't walk past the massage parlor even once in the evening. Again, don’t listen to anyone who will assure you that this is all a “fake massage” and “they won’t massage all your points there,” I don’t know what “all” the points are and what kind of massage is “real”, with great experts I won’t argue, but I felt very good. I went to different salons and was satisfied absolutely everywhere. And one day, after a sunburn, a massage with aloe vera balms came in handy more than ever. The sun is very active. Therefore, you need to be careful. Very good sun protection and after-sun products can be purchased at local pharmacies and stores.
Shops with everything you need (food, drinks, cosmetics, hygiene items) are literally at every step. This and 7 Eleven and Family Mart are open around the clock. There are large shopping centers, for example, "Festival" for clothes, shoes, etc., as well as a food court.
Night markets open in Pattaya on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No problems with currency exchange (points at every step), or withdrawing money from ATMs. You can easily change rubles directly. There is a profitable exchange office next to the Beverly Plaza Hotel, to the right of the entrance, in the same room as the jewelry store.
I also really liked the buffet restaurant at the Pattaya Park Hotel. This is the same round tower. You pay 600 b and feast on various seafood delicacies. I arranged this small celebration for myself the evening before leaving. In the same tower there is an observation deck, and the restaurant itself rotates.
Now a little about the hotel. Beverly Plaza is an ordinary 3* hotel with a passable breakfast, which starts at 6 o'clock and ends, in my opinion, at 10. Scrambled eggs, sausages, ham, cheese sandwiches, yogurt, cereal, bread, toast, croissants, jam, butter, fruits (usually one thing - pineapple, bananas), in addition, there is rice, chicken, some potato balls, vegetables, drinks: tea, coffee, milk, juices. For people accustomed to five * this is perhaps a little meager, but for me it is quite normal. My room was superior on the 4th floor. The bed and towels were changed every day, the cleaning was quite clean, I have no complaints, the bathroom was clean, the bathroom equipment was new. The furniture in the room, however, is quite simple and not very new, a wardrobe, a double bed, a flat-screen TV (a lot of music channels, there are information channels in English, and local channels), a table, a spacious chest of drawers, a couple of chairs, bedside bedside tables. The air conditioner worked fine. The window of the room overlooked the courtyard overlooking the pool. it did not open, but there were no problems with drying swimwear; they could be hung either in the bathroom or on the crossbar of the window frame from the inside. Wi-fi in the room worked fine. The room has a refrigerator under the minibar. I didn’t find any bedbugs or other nasty things in the room.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that when you check into the hotel, you will be asked for $50 as a deposit; upon check-out, after checking the room, making sure that you have not broken anything, the money will be returned to you.
The staff speaks English, so there will be no problems with asking to prepare a lunch box, passing a note to someone, or accepting and handing over purchases delivered from the store. Although, there is a very funny accent, but then you get used to it. There is a free safe at the reception.
The pool is quite good, it doesn’t seem to be dirty (though I’ve never swam in it), there are sun loungers, towels, and some greenery around. If you didn’t go to the beach, you can sunbathe perfectly here.
A lot of Indians come to the hotel, they sometimes talk quite loudly, gather in large groups, for myself, again, I didn’t feel any discomfort because of them, but I heard several times from other hotel guests that they were bothered by this. I can’t say anything, because... I didn’t spend much time at the hotel during the day and evening, and I slept soundly, perhaps because of my thick skin it didn’t bother me.
Now I want to dwell on the work of a tour operator (I used the services of Coral Travel) and the features of excursion programs.
For the first time I encountered such rudeness, lies and unprofessionalism on their part. On the way from the airport, we were accompanied by a guide who did everything to ensure that the arriving tourists understood that they had made a mistake in choosing this place to relax. And, of course, it is possible to correct a pre-ruined vacation only by purchasing a bunch of excursion programs from a given tour operator (and, as it turned out later, many people resort to this practice of lies, intimidation and misinformation. Vacationers on tours from other operators told me similar stories).
The airport transfer was terrible. I arrived in Bangkok at 8 am local time, and was able to get to the hotel only at 3. On the way from the airport we had one “technical” stop in a very expensive and dirty cafe, we spent about an hour there. This is probably how they tried to force us to buy food and drinks there at exorbitant prices. Then, when we arrived in Pattaya, we circled around the city for a long time while tourists were taken to hotels. Moreover, this continued for a very long time in the center, the driver made a mistake and turned towards neither of those hotels, the guide could not negotiate with him the sequence of the route, nor any announcements that “now there will be a hotel such and such, get ready for such and such guests” was! It is possible that the guide himself was not very well oriented. As a result, due to confusion, a lot of time was lost: no one could understand which hotel was next, which hotel they had arrived at now, and the guide continued to talk nonsense. The only thing he did was distribute maps of the local mobile operator and brochures indicating the time of meeting with the hotel guide. I put the SIM card in my old phone and happily forgot about it, I used my regular number in roaming perfectly, which for me amounted to 60 rubles per day and 20 minutes of incoming free. If you don’t plan to contact anyone in Thailand, then you shouldn’t deposit money on such a “gifted” card, firstly, there is some minimum threshold, and secondly, if you don’t say it, the money will simply remain.
The meeting with the hotel guide was also not at all helpful. Again lies, intimidation with all imaginable and unimaginable horrors (like warnings in case you dare to escape from the tenacious hands of the tour operator), ranging from poisoning to arrest for loud conversations on the street, aggressive imposition of expensive excursions, which in fact turn out to be no excursions at all but simply shopping tours.
Don’t rush to buy excursions from guides (!!!), compare with excursion options at street bureaus, there are a lot of much more interesting and sometimes cheaper options, especially for trips to the river. Kwai and all sorts of fishing, diving, elephant riding and other active programs. And don’t listen to the crazy stories of guides about how “one woman went with us and was forgotten in the jungle at night,” these bureaus value their reputation much more than tour operators.
Probably, many people include a “free” sightseeing tour of Pattaya in the price of their trip; I strongly advise you NOT to go on it. Because The main part of this trip consists of shops with all sorts of rubbish and even a real estate agency (!). Don’t be fooled by such names as “spice garden”, “bee farm”. These are just ordinary stores with very expensive products and a small decorated courtyard around the store. It turned out very funny with this very “bee farm”; I bought into the offer of an excursion to the zoo, which I really regretted, because... The zoo itself was only an hour and a half there, the guide was driving the group around at a crazy pace, not allowing them to linger and see anything, but there was a lot to see at the zoo:

And much more.

As it turned out later, in order to have time to visit 4-5 stores. First on the list was a “bee farm.” A store specializing in the sale of honey and all sorts of things related to the honey theme, such as beebread, some kind of mead tinctures, etc. In the courtyard, against the backdrop of several beehives, the group was met by an extremely talkative little man, he endlessly chatted and talked nonsense, left and right making non-existent diagnoses, mixing it all up with jokes from the “below the belt” category. Our guide disappeared to God knows where, and the group was taken into one of several classrooms, seated at tables, and the same man began to give a lecture about the benefits and uniqueness of the products offered. Here, one after another, he took out jars of “royal jelly” (no less than a liter in volume!), then “unique” honey, then boxes of “pollen”, he smeared all this on the hands and faces of tourists who were dazed by such impudence , suggested trying some kind of cloudy liquid in glasses. He declared all the men present to be impotent, and the women, accordingly, to be infertile, frigid, wrinkled, with children retarded in development. In short, if you have ever had the “fortune” of meeting Herbolife sellers and Jehovah’s Witnesses, you will unmistakably recognize the techniques. After the lecture, the thirsty public was finally released to the coveted counters, where everyone could satisfy their needs for “royal jelly,” “nectars,” “balms,” and other drugs that had so suddenly become necessary in their lives. At the end of the second hour of staying in this establishment, the guide finally showed up. The people, well stocked with beekeeping products (which, apparently, cannot be found in Russia even during the day), began loading onto the bus. Next on the “excursion” program was a certain coffee shop, where, according to stories, visitors were offered to buy coffee, which was eaten and almost digested by some rodents and also given a lecture. Personally, I interrupted the “excursion” and went to the beach, fortunately I thought in advance to take with me what I needed.
Everything is the same as what they sell to you in these shops, and not only that, you can easily buy it in the evening while walking around the city. There are enough shops and large shopping centers in Pattaya. Otherwise, you will simply lose valuable time, which can be spent much more usefully on the beach or in a massage parlor. In addition, many large stores specializing in some kind of product such as “latex factories”, leather goods stores, and jewelry stores provide free transfers for those interested.
Previously, I have never encountered an approach where a shopping tour is sold under the guise of an excursion; I consider this an ordinary deception on the part of the tour operator.
Everything else, such as the crocodile farm, temple complexes and observation deck, you can easily visit on your own. The same applies to other places in Pattaya. Taxi services and tuk-tuks will cost you much less than an “excursion”. Especially if you are traveling with family or friends. In addition, you don’t have to travel around in a huge bus. The cost of local excursions starts from about $30 per person, which is not at all low at today’s rates. I had purchased another local excursion to Nong Nooch, which I simply refused to go on, of course I was sorry for the money, but I didn’t want to waste a precious day of warmth, summer and the gentle sea. There was no reason I flew from Moscow for 10 hours (and even with a flight delay) to sit in a locked auditorium and listen to vulgarity.
In general, all these Nong-nuchi, “crocodile farms” are just parks with well-designed landscapes, trees, mini-zoos (very good), pebbles - of course, they’re not bad for photographs.

I would also really like to point out that while visiting numerous shops and stores, there is absolutely no opportunity to eat something normal or buy water. Tourists sometimes simply had to sneak away to buy some hamburger or water. From the guide, in response to complaints about this, you will only hear grins. So think about what it would be like if you went, for example, with a child. They picked you up from the hotel before breakfast, or you only had time to eat quickly, because the buses are big, and picking up from different hotels is not a quick thing. In the courtyards of stores, as a rule, there are small stalls with food, or buffets, but, firstly, it is very expensive, and secondly, not everyone wants to eat dry food, and, by the way, this dry food will be the price of a holiday lunch .
I also cannot express any special admiration for the boat trip. But, undoubtedly, it is good that at least this did not include visits to shops and real estate agencies. And the guide at the beginning of the excursion announced: “This day belongs only to you, today is your day of rest!” As if all other days were not supposed to belong to tourists, although, really, how can sitting at a desk in a classroom, or running around real estate agencies with the impossibility of even having a full meal once in 8-9 hours, be considered a vacation?
So, we visited 2 island beaches by speedboat, one on the small island of KO TALU,

The excursion program included a buffet (nothing special, just a snack), and in the hotel area you could relax on a sun lounger or on the terrace, take a walk in the hotel park and use the shower after swimming. The beaches we visited were quite good: on the first island there were fish in clear water; A little further from the shore there are corals and white sand. But I can’t say that the beaches of these islands are much more beautiful and better than those on the island. Ko Lan. By the way, the road from Pattaya to Fr. Koh Larn on a ferry is much more reminiscent of a boat trip than hitting the butt on a speedboat. Meanwhile, during the meeting with the hotel guide, and on the way from the airport, I heard so many horrors about the island of Koh Larn! According to representatives of the tour operator, this is just a garbage dump; tourists will be able to see the sea and beaches only if they buy tickets for trips to the islands. I have nothing against trips and various programs, and the beaches on the islands are undoubtedly good, but you can’t lie blatantly like that.
Yes, here is another case of so-called lies (as one literary character put it): when we arrived on the small island of KO TALU, the guide recommended that we go up to the observation deck and photograph the view, she told us that there was a good road leading there through the forest, You don’t need any special shoes to climb, and even instead of a railing, there is a rope stretched along the entire road. There was a rope. But there is no need to even talk about any observation deck. Along this very steep road (without normal shoes, you risk falling and breaking your legs, and even if you have one, you also need to be able to walk on steep slopes) you will find yourself at a great height on the edge of a cliff, quite dangerous. Sea views are always beautiful, especially from a height, but people without equipment and skills who just came to the beach to sunbathe should not be recommended to climb such a dangerous height! From the forest you immediately come out onto the crumbling edge of a cliff, just take a step out of the thickets (from where you can’t really see anything) and you are over the abyss. If a person’s head starts to spin at this moment, he will immediately fly down onto the rocks.
You can judge for yourself from the photo.

It was a good trip to Bangkok. Although the program, instead of visiting the old palace, included a visit to the new one. It’s certainly beautiful - royal gifts, jewelry, golden thrones, embroidered silk fabrics, paintings on silk that amazed me so much, and all that. There is also a wooden palace not far away, nothing interesting, an old wooden house with large window sashes, galleries and terraces and also with a bunch of guards, such well-trained women dressed in uniform, vigilantly watching over visitors. I still don’t understand what is so heavily guarded in this junk. There is nothing special to talk about in this carved wooden dacha. On the walls hung some portraits, old photographs of members of the royal family and other various objects: dishes, albums, figurines, etc. But in the large palace there was really something to look at. The building itself was built in the European style, there is a park nearby, inside it resembles a huge cathedral, and, as I wrote above, a lot of beautiful things are collected there. No one accompanied us here, we were simply given an audio guide. There are volunteers on duty in the halls of the palace who will answer any questions (they speak quite normal English). Photography is not allowed inside the palaces. I still understand why you can’t take photographs inside this wooden house, simply because after looking and realizing that there is nothing else to do here, tourists will not come, but I don’t know why they prohibit taking photographs inside the large palace. In general, the strict system of access to the territory of the palaces is something, everyone is examined for compliance with the dress code, the presence of phones and cameras is checked (they must be handed over to the storage room), in short, it seems that you are not going to a museum, but as part of a group of observers to the production facility of some company, which is terribly afraid that its secrets will be found out by its competitors. Regarding the dress code, everything is also as usual: in those places where a large number of different visitors try very hard to force it to be observed, the result is a uniform bomzhatnik. Compromises, in the form of aprons handed out at the entrance and beach pareos stored in advance, which absolutely do not want to look like the outfits of court ladies and gentlemen, which in these interiors, of course, would be more appropriate, for some reason are considered more aesthetic than jeans, T-shirts, above-the-knee skirts and shorts. For some reason, the sight of chanthropus tied with rags and wearing slippers (but with “closed noses”) does not bother the eyes. Well, be that as it may, it is better to wear or take with you something that covers your shoulders; shorts are also prohibited, this applies to both boys and girls. If you forget, no problem. You can buy a large apron with ties at the entrance and don’t forget about closed shoes. And also take socks. In a wooden palace, you will have to take off your shoes altogether, and you have to do this quite far from the entrance in a special room, so if you don’t want to catch a fungus (after all, it’s too early for a palace not to be a palace), it’s better to play it safe, they will also come in handy in temples, there too take off their shoes (if anyone doesn’t know).

Then we visited the temple, which has a statue of Buddha made of gold.

And then we visited the tallest building in Bangkok - the Bayok Sky Hotel, where we had a very good lunch on the seventy-something floor, it was a buffet of various delicacies, including seafood; sweets; fruit; drinks. The windows of the building offer simply stunning views of the capital! Skyscrapers in full view, with gardens and swimming pools on the roofs; road junctions on several levels! Here we climbed onto a rotating observation deck.

The next number was again... a store... We spent almost 2 hours in duty free. Again, maybe someone will find this useful, but in this case it was possible to give those who do not want to wander around the store free time and agree on a meeting place. But no, we were simply unloaded near the depot building, the guide disappeared again. Of course, you could just wander around somewhere. Which is what I did.

But in the evening there was the culmination of the trip - a night ride on a pleasure yacht on the river. The program included a transvestite show, a buffet and, of course, stunning views of Bangkok at night.

On excursions like r. I didn’t go to Kwai (2 days), or to Cambodia (4 days). It's too lazy for me. And I didn’t want to go far from the warm sea. Maybe if the vacation was 25-30 days, it would be a different matter.
In addition to what was written above, I drove around Pattaya, the temple of truth, an aquarium, a night observation deck on a hill (for me it was a night view, because I was crazy about going there late in the evening),

I visited several beaches on the island. Ko Lan.
I’ll write a little about Fr. Ko Lan. This is an island with white sand and clear water, with some pebbles in some places. The sea carries out various shells and fragments of coral. All beaches have very good cafes, relatively clean toilets and showers, everywhere you can rent a sun lounger (80-100 baht), or sit in the shade under the trees for free. I liked the beach called Monkey, where you can see monkeys. Once I watched from the sea as they descended from the forest along the slope, made their way to the beach, they say that sometimes they carry bottles with the remains of alcohol, but I did not see them go further than the edge of the beach, where tourists who came running took pictures of them and fed them bananas. There is a monkey island near Pattaya, I didn’t go there, but they say they just go there in flocks.

It’s also very good on Thien, although it’s not very deep there and you have to walk a little, but the view is cool

Someone's wedding photo shoot, very beautiful!

I left for the island in the morning at 7 o’clock, on the first ferry. I walked to the pier via WalkingStreet, in the morning it has a completely different view. After a night of revelry, clients who have had too much alcohol are filling up on the steps of establishments, representatives (and representatives, why be modest) of the oldest profession are driving around on motorbikes after a night of work, there is a terrible smell, the whole street is vomited, littered with garbage and rose petals (this is what remains of yesterday's bouquets that street vendors sell to visitors are not even bouquets, whole armfuls of roses). And at this time you can meet Buddhist monks here, they go begging. I once saw this picture: in the middle of all this beadlam and stench, in front of the entrance to some cafe, there are four monks, a woman (apparently an employee of this cafe) is kneeling in front of them, she is reading some kind of prayer with her hands folded, and then gives the monks food and they move on. For some reason I felt awkward filming this scene. And the shot would be interesting.
You can also watch how local residents early in the morning take care of the “spirit houses”, these are something like altars with figurines of deities and animals. These houses are completely different in size, from huge ones, near hotels and large stores, to the tiniest ones, like the ones I saw in small street cafes. These houses are decorated with garlands of flowers and offerings are placed with them - food, drinks, incense. In large shopping centers and jewelry stores, these offerings are very rich. There are several types of meat, expensive alcohol, and fruits (well, I’m talking about food again). In simpler places, the offerings are appropriate. It could even be a cup of rice and a bottle of Fanta. There will definitely be chopsticks nearby, and a cocktail straw will be stuck into the bottle, or the drink will be poured into a glass (in fact, it is not for spirits to eat with their hands and not to drink from the throat). Even if there is no altar, there can still be such a plate and a drink next to a tree, or just on a step. 0

On the island, not far from the pier, there is a 7-eleven store; a nearby market sells swimsuits, flip flops, masks, etc. The tuk-tuk stop from the store is very close (to the left of the exit), and there will also be motorbikes nearby. You tell the driver the beach you want, and he takes you. To get your bearings there is a map and pictures with views of the beaches nearby. If you go by tuk-tuk, you may have to wait, because... for example, on Samae a lot of people quickly gather, but on small beaches the driver will wait for passengers.
In the morning there are very few people on the beaches (I don’t mean Samae). This is an ideal time for those who like to pose for photos against the backdrop of the sea and palm trees without the presence of someone's beer belly or cellulite in a beautiful frame, or for those who just want to shoot landscapes, although an early hour does not guarantee that they will be in the frame a couple or three of the ubiquitous Chinese won’t fit.
All kinds of souvenir, ice cream, and massage therapists walk along the beaches, both island and city. They also offer pearls, the prices for them are different, you can bargain, and you need to look at the quality. Sometimes in a store you come across something less interesting than what they offer on the beach. There are a lot of pearls grown in Thailand, so it is unlikely that you will run into a fake. I hope that no one will be deceived by the offer to buy a belt made of crocodile leather, or a wallet made of stingray; these things are really better to buy in stores.
On about. Ko Lan, in principle, there is an opportunity to meet sea urchins, but I only saw them at depth. This is absolutely no reason for the fear that guides so love to instill about them. Telling that only with a tour you can get to the beach, “which is cleaned of sea urchins.” I don’t think that on the small island of KO TALU anyone caught them with delusion or by hand. But if you are very suspicious, then it is enough to take coral slippers with you; by the way, you can walk on pebbles in them.
On all beaches, including small ones, there are jet ski rentals and all sorts of rides. I know that 30 minutes of riding a jet ski will cost around 1 thousand baht, people somehow haggle.
Cafes on the beaches. Koh Lan is also quite good, the prices are quite normal. There is a choice, as everywhere else, you can eat fish and chicken or this famous tom yum soup with shrimp, I am absolutely delighted with it. You can sit at a table in a cafe, or if you wish, you can bring your order to a sun lounger. As everywhere else, they make fruit mixes with ice, alcoholic cocktails, and sell fruit.
You can also go back to the pier either by tuk-tuk or on a bike; during the day they are constantly spinning even on the smallest beaches. The last ferry from the island leaves at 6 pm. Ferries run every half hour, I think. Well, or at least once an hour.

The markets have a very large selection of fruits, I don’t know if it’s possible to try everything. I really liked mangosteen, it’s a thing that looks like a small and medium-sized persimmon, with a hard skin that needs to be peeled, and inside there is pulp that looks like a head of garlic, very tasty. Only this mangosteen is very expensive, as much as 300 baht.
A very good thing is fruit mix with ice, several types of fruit (although sometimes one or two) are mixed in a blender with a small amount of ice. You can drink the mix instead of any soda. Very useful. It is sold almost everywhere, like ice cream.
So, to summarize, I am quite pleased with the time spent in Pattaya. I hope that from what I have written you can glean at least something that may be useful to those who come to Pattaya for the first time.
Regarding my complaints about the approach of the tour operator, I want to say the following: I have nothing against shopping tours, many people need them, everyone knows how it happens in Greece, for example. No one drags you into fur shops by deception, offering you a trip to some monastery. In Greece, for example, there are trips related to real estate, but they are announced as they are, and are sometimes even free. And they are used by people who have appropriate goals, and not by those who wanted to take a photo with an elephant at the zoo, but instead ended up at a lecture at a real estate agency or at a factory producing orthopedic mattresses.
I will definitely go to Thailand again, but most likely, in this direction, as well as in others, I, or my relatives and friends, are unlikely to ever use the services of Coral Travel, since the people working here are not professionals, and boors and dishonest people. And if they, instead of their long-term clients (and I have used their services for several years and have previously recommended them to relatives and friends), need all sorts of second-rate rubbish sellers, let them stay with them.
