1 year ago comment 0

The final part of the 21st FIFA World Cup 2018 is taking place at 12 modern stadiums in 11 cities of Russia - these are Luzhniki and Spartak in Moscow, Mordovia Arena in Saransk, Fisht in Sochi, stadiums in the same cities - “St. Petersburg”, “Kazan Arena”, “Nizhny Novgorod”, “Samara Arena”, “Rostov Arena”, “Ekaterinburg Arena”, “Volgograd Arena”, “Kaliningrad”.

Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow

Luzhniki Stadium is the main Moscow stadium, where the opening of the 21st World Cup took place and where it will close. It was built in 1956 near Sparrow Hills, one of the most famous parks in Moscow. The Luzhniki Arena hosted the 1980 Olympic Games, the 1999 UEFA Cup Final, the Youth and Students Festival, and other international events. During its existence, it was reconstructed four times - in 1980, 1997, 2008, 2013–2017. The latest reconstruction was carried out specifically for the World Cup; the cost of the work amounted to 26.6 billion rubles. The total area of the complex is 159 hectares, the total area of the stadium including the stands after reconstruction is 221 thousand square meters. meters.

During the reconstruction, the historical appearance of the object was preserved. The walls of the building were carefully cleaned and restored. The facade, which has retained its usual light sand color, is decorated with translucent panels made of perforated metal depicting various sports competitions. The roof is covered with polycarbonate, which perfectly transmits sunlight and is ideal for stadiums with natural grass. In addition, it can withstand extreme temperature changes and has excellent load-bearing capacity and strength.

To protect fans from precipitation, the stadium roof above the stands has a 14-meter long canopy. The roof itself has been turned into a media screen with an area of 40 thousand square meters. A special sports light is installed under the roof space, necessary for high-quality television broadcasting.

After reconstruction, the stadium became purely football. By eliminating the running tracks and the area for athletics competitions, the stands were increased, and the total spectator capacity reached 81 thousand people. The angle of the stands has changed, they are as close as possible to the playing field. Audience areas have become more comfortable and adapted to different categories. There are 300 places equipped for groups of citizens with limited mobility. There are 2 thousand seats on the main stand for VIP spectators. About 2.5 thousand seats are allocated for the press, and the guest service area accommodates 4.5 thousand spectators. In addition, 102 corporate luxury boxes (skyboxes) appeared in the stands. The color of the stands was chosen by Muscovites by voting - burgundy with gold splashes. The new grass lawn deserves special attention.

A one and a half meter “pie” has been created under the field, consisting of drainage, heating, irrigation and aeration systems. More than 400 kg of seeds suitable for the climatic conditions of Moscow were sown. Thanks to a special heating system and imitation of natural sunlight, the lawn retains its natural surface even in winter.

The stadium has six checkpoints with 39 security lines, as well as seven pedestrian checkpoints with 427 entry points for spectators. To prevent long queues, 44 new cascading staircases were installed around the perimeter of the stadium. Under the stands there are two warm-up rooms, locker rooms for athletes, a press conference room, an express interview area, a presentation studio with a panoramic view of the football field, office space, restaurants, a guest services area and bathrooms. In addition, the stadium has service centers for spectators - navigation assistance from volunteers, luggage storage, child registration, and a lost and found office. Luzhniki is also the largest observation deck in Europe, because the arena is located in a unique place, overlooking the high-rise building of Moscow State University, the Novodevichy Convent, and the skyscrapers of Moscow City.

The roof of the stadium serves as a great place to admire the sights of the capital. The stadium has unique security measures - 3,000 cameras, about 900 scanners, radiation monitors, explosives and hazardous liquid detectors, and X-ray machines.

Spartak Stadium in Moscow

Spartak Stadium is the home arena of the Moscow football club Spartak. Built in 2014 next to the Tushino airfield, the stadium became Spartak's first permanent home field. This is the first stadium in modern Russia, built entirely with private money from the IFD Capital company, which belongs to Lukoil.

The sponsor of the project was Otkritie Bank. The final cost of the stadium was 14.5 billion rubles. The total area of the site is 28.2 hectares, the total area of the stadium is 53,758 square meters. meters. The stadium's exterior features a series of linked diamonds that can be changed to reflect the colors of the teams playing on a given day. The stadium is a modern sports complex consisting of a football field with stands with a capacity of 45,360 people with the possibility of expanding to 46 thousand during the FIFA World Cup.

In addition, there is a project to increase spectator seats by another 5 thousand. Two sectors of 50 places each are allocated for people with disabilities. This part of the arena is equipped with ramps and elevators. The stands are equipped with 48 boxes and 5,630 hospitality seats. For the safety and convenience of fans, 1,000 stewards are employed at each game to help with seating arrangements and maintain order during the match.

For spectators with children, the western and eastern stands have family sectors equipped with children's entertainment rooms and food outlets with an expanded children's menu. The stadium has navigation assistance from volunteers, storage lockers, and a lost and found office. A video surveillance system, fan identification and modern inspection equipment have been installed. The arena is equipped with 300 video cameras along the entire perimeter.

Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod

The Nizhny Novgorod stadium was built in 2018 for the FIFA World Cup. 17 billion rubles were spent on its construction. After its completion, the arena will become the base of the Olympiets football club and will also be used as a multifunctional sports complex. The stadium was built in one of the most beautiful places in the city - on Strelka, where the Oka River flows into the Volga. Next to the stadium is the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, an architectural monument of federal significance.

The total area of the stadium building is 127,500 square meters. meters. The architectural appearance of the object is made in a classical style, which is due to its location - proximity to the river and historical monuments. Its facades have an original bright shape, which symbolizes the circular movement of wind and water. The wavy and translucent facades light up at night, creating a stunning play of light. At the same time, the building looks quite strict and restrained, in unison with the historical buildings that are located nearby.

The stadium's capacity is 45,000 seats, including 902 seats for people with limited mobility and accompanying persons. The stadium is equipped with a modern security system.

Stadium "Mordovia Arena" in Saransk

The Mordovia Arena stadium was built in 2017 specifically for the FIFA World Cup. It is located in the new Yubileiny microdistrict, on the right bank of the Insar River, close to the city center. After the end of the championship, the stadium will become the base of the Mordovia Saransk football club, and it is also planned to organize a sports, cultural and leisure center there. The capacity of the stadium is 45,000 seats; subsequently, it is planned to remove the upper tier and equip a walking area with an observation deck in this place. The appearance of the stadium is based on the sun as the main symbol of ancient myths and legends of the Mordovian people.

The stadium is made in the form of a two-story stylobate, which is covered by the arena bowl, flowing into a canopy over the spectator seats. The stadium shell is made of perforated and blind curtain metal panels in bright colors. The main and western facades face the central part of the city and the embankment of the Insar River. This is one of the most colorful stadiums with an orange, red and white arena.

To ensure good visibility, the distance from the center of the football field to the spectators does not exceed 90 meters, and from any corner of the field to the opposite stand - no more than 190 meters. At the stadium, fans are provided with the necessary services, including navigation and information support from volunteers, luggage storage, and services for spectators with disabilities.

To ensure security, the stadium is equipped with alarm and warning systems, metal detectors, indicators of hazardous liquids and explosives, and 30 round-the-clock security posts have been organized.

Stadium "Kazanskaya Arena" in Kazan

The Kazan Arena stadium was built in 2013 to host the XXVII World Summer Universiade. Its construction cost 14.4 billion rubles. The Kazan Arena hosted such international events as the 16th FINA World Aquatics Championships and the 2017 Confederations Cup. The stadium is the home arena of the Kazan football club "Rubin". In addition, it is a multifunctional complex designed not only for football matches, but also for cultural and sports events, and entertainment shows. The stadium annually hosts more than 100 events of various formats with traffic of up to 1 million visitors per year. The stadium area covers an area of 28 hectares, the total construction area is 73,330 sq. m. meters, and the building area is 135,967 sq. meters.

The stadium's capacity is 45,379 spectators. The key architectural features of the stadium are the shape of its roof and the large media façade. The architectural design embodied the image of a water lily in the stadium, which can be seen if you look at the structure from a bird's eye view. The unique media façade features the largest Full HD screen in Europe at the stadium. Its area is 3700 sq. meters. This allows live broadcasts of socially significant events and film screenings from here. The uniqueness of the stadium as a construction project is ensured by the crossbar spans of more than 120 meters in length and the light-transmitting roof consoles, which rest on only 8 support points. Due to this solution, the structure looks airy without losing reliability.

The total weight of metal structures in the roof is 12 thousand tons. The stadium has a rich infrastructure, including 72 skyboxes and the Palladium restaurant with panoramic views of the field, a media center, a conference hall, a Snookball sports bar, the ZARNITZA science and entertainment center, a children's city of professions "KIDSPACE", and a Ruby catering area bar”, “Sapphire lounge”, fitness club with a swimming pool, 168 retail outlets in food court areas.

Samara Arena stadium in Samara

The Samara Arena stadium was built in 2018 specifically for the FIFA World Cup. The stadium is located at the highest point of the city - in the area of the Radio Center village and occupies an area of 27 hectares. Its total capacity is 44,918 spectators. The design of the Samara Arena conveys the famous aerospace character of the region. It is assumed that after the World Cup the stadium will be renamed “Azbuka Kosmos” and will become the home field of “Wings of the Soviets”. The main architectural feature of the stadium in Samara is a dome made of metal structures, its appearance reminiscent of space themes.

Completely covering the structure, the dome is crowned with rays towards the bottom, resembling a star or a rocket. In this case, the dome is almost not rounded, but is directed almost straight upward. It consists of 32 consoles mounted on pyramidal supports 21.4 meters high. The total weight of the arena roof is 13 thousand tons, the total roof area is 76 thousand meters. The diameter of the stadium exceeds the diameter of the Moscow Luzhniki stadium and is approximately 330 meters. The height of the stadium is 60 meters.

The stadium consists of 4 tiers - open stands of the upper and lower tier and two tiers of closed spectator boxes (skyboxes) between them. Below them there are 5 tiers of under-tribune space. The spectator seats are completely covered by the roof of the arena. The stands are heated. The stadium has chairs of non-standard sizes, and there are also special places for people with disabilities.

A special pride of the Samara Arena is the emerald lawn, which mostly consists of bluegrass and ryegrass stitched with polypropylene threads. Thanks to them, the grass surface has become softer, which will allow football players to avoid serious injuries. The lawn is equipped with a special heating system - you can play on it even in winter. At a height of 44 meters from the level of the football field, information screens are suspended from the metal structures of the stadium dome. The area of each scoreboard is 172 square meters. The stadium is equipped with an alarm and warning system, there are metal detectors, indicators of hazardous liquids and explosives.

Stadium "Ekaterinburg Arena" in Yekaterinburg

The Ekaterinburg Arena stadium was built in 1957 and occupies an area of 31 thousand square meters. meters. To host the FIFA World Cup in 2015–2017, it was completely reconstructed, which cost 12.7 billion rubles. The stadium building is an architectural monument of Stalinist neoclassicism and is recognized as a cultural heritage site as an example of a sports facility from the mid-20th century. During the reconstruction, the historical walls of the western and eastern stands, the eastern and western ticket office buildings with gates, as well as a section of the historical metal fence with brick pillars were preserved.

A new volume of the arena was built into the historical walls - the northern and southern stands, which are not stylized to match the original architecture of the stadium. The new facades maintain a neutral style, which does not affect the perception of the main architectural ensemble.

During the reconstruction, stucco decoration and other historical architectural elements were preserved. The main compositional load is borne by a large sports arena formed by stands oriented to the four cardinal directions. Over all spectator seats, with the exception of temporary stands, there is a canopy - a light metal structure 45.5 meters high. A distinctive feature of the stadium is its collapsible stands, which is why the stadium is nicknamed “eared”. During the World Cup, its capacity is 35 thousand spectators.

After the end of the tournament, it is planned to dismantle the stands and make a circuit of the stadium, after which the number of seats will be reduced to 25 thousand. The stadium has a modern security system. The arena has implemented CROC systems, as well as monitoring systems for engineering systems and structures (SMIS and SMIC). They allow you to quickly transmit current information about the condition of the object to the control panel of duty and dispatch services.

Stadium "St. Petersburg" in St. Petersburg

The St. Petersburg Stadium was built in 2017 for the FIFA World Cup. It is located on Krestovsky Island, on the site of the demolished stadium named after S. M. Kirov, which existed since 1950. At the end of the football tournament, the new stadium will become home to the Zenit football club and will host several matches in Euro 2020. The author of the stadium project called “Spaceship” is the Japanese architect Kise Kurokawa. The design of the new facility included preserving the dimensions of the hill and pavilions of the old stadium.

The football field also remains in the same place as the old arena. In addition, the stadium has preserved box office pavilions and a monument to S.M. Kirov. "St. Petersburg" occupies an area of 287,600 square meters. meters, the internal area is 262,000 square meters. meters. Construction of the facility cost 43 billion rubles. This is the highest stadium in Russia - its height without pylons is 75 meters, which allows it to maintain high capacity and excellent visibility.
In addition, St. Petersburg is one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world. This is the only sports facility in Russia equipped with a retractable roof and a roll-out field, thanks to which it can be transformed into a site for a wide variety of events. The field, measuring 120*80 m, is moved using a system of electric motors, first being raised using pressurized air.
During football matches, the field is located inside the stadium bowl, and during other events it is located outside the stadium. This allows you to maintain high quality lawn for a long time. To maintain a constant temperature and humidity level, the field is equipped with an aeration and electric heating system. The time required to move the field and all related procedures is about 6 hours.

The retractable roof is a technology that complements the field. The dome with a diameter of 286 meters is capable of moving and covering the stands during bad weather. It only takes 15 minutes to close the roof. The stadium's capacity is 68,000 seats. 560 places are provided for people with disabilities, of which 266 are for people in wheelchairs.

In addition, special lobbies, elevators and ramps are provided for spectators with limited mobility. There are 104 skyboxes equipped for those who want to spend time in the arena with special comfort. The stadium has a well-developed infrastructure. On its territory there are 8 cafes and 8 restaurants with 5 thousand seats. The stadium is equipped with a security alarm system, a fire safety system and a robotic fire extinguishing system.

Stadium "Kaliningrad" in Kaliningrad

The Kaliningrad Stadium is the westernmost arena where matches of the World Cup will be held. It was built in 2018 specifically for this event. After its completion, the stadium will be called Arena Baltika and will become the home stadium of the Baltika football club. The stadium is located on Oktyabrsky Island between the beds of the Staraya and Novaya Pregolya rivers. Next door is the historical, ethnographic, trade and craft complex “Fish Village”, which is the pearl of the city. Within walking distance from the stadium is the historical district of Kaliningrad, where the Cathedral and the tomb of the German philosopher Immanuel Kant are located.

The stadium covers an area of 24.4 hectares; the stadium's built-up area is 49,384.5 square meters. meters, the total area of the stadium is 112,511.7 square meters. meters. 17.8 billion rubles were spent on the construction of the stadium. The appearance of the stadium resembles a sea vessel - a rectangular shape with rounded edges, a facade in the form of wave-like transitions with blue inserts.

The construction of the facility was fraught with many difficulties, including difficult soil. The builders had to use a pile foundation with monolithic grillages made of reinforced concrete, reinforced on top with a connecting slab. The stadium has a capacity of 35,016 seats. The developed project makes it possible to quickly dismantle 10 thousand spectator seats, leaving 25 thousand, which is quite enough to host matches and other events after the end of the World Cup.

Stadium "Volgograd Arena" in Volgograd

The Volgograd Arena stadium was built in 2018 to host the World Cup. After the World Cup, it will become the home field for the Rotor football club and will be used as a multifunctional complex for holding various public events. The stadium was built next to Mamayev Kurgan, the main attraction of the city, on the site of the old Central Stadium on the banks of the Volga. Construction of the facility cost 17 billion rubles.

The stadium's capacity is 45 thousand seats, including 2,280 press seats and 640 VIP seats, 460 seats for people with limited mobility.

The stadium has its own architectural feature - a large cable-stayed roof, which is like a bicycle wheel made of high-strength steel ropes.

The shape of the façade is conical, tapering downwards. Height - 49.5 m, diameter about 303 m. The shape of the facades is determined by the need to place the building on the site as compactly as possible. As part of the stadium's decor, the architects used the image of a football net to give the building an airy feel.

Stadium "Rostov Arena" in Rostov-on-Don

The Rostov Arena stadium was built in 2018 to host the FIFA World Cup. The stadium is located in the central part of the city between two highways running through the left bank of the Don from west to east. The stadium is the first object of the new city center, which will be built in the coming years.

The total area of the site is 36.381 hectares, the area of the stadium is 10 hectares. The construction price was 19.8 billion rubles. The arena can accommodate up to 45 thousand spectators; after the end of the championship, the capacity of the stands will be reduced by five thousand. The building has five floors with three tiers of open stands, most of which visually open towards the city center. The architectural image of the arena is formed by an oval volume with a wavy roof over the space of four stands around the football field. The roof is covered with a tent membrane and is a closed structure with a rectangular cutout above the football field. The Rostov Arena stands out among other stadiums built for the World Cup with its original architectural solutions.

The north stand is open, offering stunning views of the Don River.

Due to the steepness of the stands, each next row is almost 45 cm higher than the previous one, it was possible to obtain a unique effect of the presence of a spectator on the field. Even from the last rows of the upper tiers, the voices of the players can be clearly heard, their faces and movements can be clearly distinguished. The facades along the entire perimeter are made using media facade technology. The football field is a kind of “layer cake” 1.2 meters high. The bottom layer is formed by a concrete slab, on it there is a crushed stone base, then there is a drainage system, and at the top there is the natural lawn itself.

The stadium is provided with everything necessary for athletes and spectators - team locker rooms for players, coaching, refereeing, rooms for delegates at the match, rooms for medical staff and doping control, warm-up areas, office premises of the sports club, press center, buffets, etc. After the completion of the world championship, the arena is expected to be used for international football matches, home games of the Rostov football club, as well as for other sports and cultural events.

Fisht Stadium in Sochi

Fisht Stadium was built in 2013 as the main venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics, which explains its original shape, reminiscent of snowy mountain peaks. The stadium is located in the Imereti Lowland of the Adler district of Sochi on the territory of the Olympic Park. The stadium received the name “Fisht” from the mountain peak of the same name in the western part of the Main Caucasus Range. Translated from Adyghe “Fisht” means “white head”.

The silhouette of the arena, designed by British architects, resembles a snow-white mountain cap. The cost of reconstruction of the Fisht stadium for the matches of the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup amounted to approximately 4 billion rubles. 3,800 tons of additional steel structures needed for the Winter Olympics events and the central part of the roof were dismantled.

The arena became open, with a large “cutout” in the middle.

Behind the goal, on the north and south sides, two new stands appeared. Only one stand remained unchanged from the Olympics - the east one. Now the renovated stadium has four stands - two indoor and two open with a total capacity of 43,700 spectators. The roof covers only the longitudinal central stands. The stadium received a football field with natural grass. For this purpose, drainage, irrigation and ventilation systems were re-created. Sand was brought to the stadium from several regions, and local microflora was introduced into the lawn itself so that the grass would take root better. A lawn heating system was also installed - this is 32 km of pipes laid under the surface.

Sport Day by Day compiles its 2018 World Cup stadium rankings, assessing how effectively the facilities have been and will be used in 2019. This indicator is the main one in the Heritage program, which has been adopted at the legislative level.

All the arenas have something in common - Sergei Shnurov has planned a tour of all the stadiums of the tournament for 2019. Some are united by the fact that this year they will come under regional management. But for now, local authorities are not worried: after all, 95 percent of the funding for the maintenance of the facility will be allocated from the federal budget. And so on for five years. And then – on your own.

1. Gazprom Arena (67,800)

Team:"Zenith"

Plans for 2019. The club received the stadium under its own management and has already begun to modernize it. I plan to build a club museum next to the Zenit arena, combining the efforts of almost all the city’s collectors. In addition, in the best European traditions, the blue-white-sky blues are going to organize excursions to the stadium, open a club store, turning the Gazprom Arena into the most comfortable facility for everyone. It was also announced that next year the stadium will host concerts by Leningrad (October 12) and Ramstein (August 2). It is possible that new hockey matches and even a UFC fight will be held.

2. Luzhniki (78,011)

Team:

Plans for 2019. The end of 2018 has already turned out to be successful for Luzhniki. CSKA played Champions League matches here, showing that someone definitely needs football in Moscow. After all, even almost 53 thousand people came to the game with the Czech “Victoria”. In the first half of 2019, the facility will definitely be used as a football arena at least once – at the Russian Cup final. The approximate occupancy of the arena has already been determined: in March there will be an extreme sports festival, in May there will be a Bon Jovi concert, and Metallica will arrive in July. There will probably also be city events; after all, the object is on Moscow’s balance sheet. It remains to be seen whether any Russian team will use Luzhniki in the next Champions League, but CSKA's experience is considered to be extremely successful.

3. Rostov Arena (37,868)

Team:"Rostov"

Plans for 2019. This year the stadium will be handed over to the region for use, so the administration of the Rostov region must think about how to make money. But there is no need to rush, because until 2024, 95 percent of funds for maintaining the facility will come from the federal budget. A business plan has already been prepared to bring the stadium to self-sufficiency. One Basta concert is not enough. By the way, it caused a scandal: Rostov was afraid that the quality of the field would suffer. But everything ended well. In the coming year, the stadium awaits the Leningrad group. But this is unlikely to have any impact on football attendance in Rostov. On average, 30 thousand people go to matches of Karpin’s team, which is very cool for our football.

4. Otkritie Arena (45,360)

Team:"Spartacus"

Plans for 2019. Spartak organizes excursions to the stadium, which include a visit to the museum. Plus constant matches, which ensures the required loading of the object. Moscow does not need to think about how to finance it - this is the sole concern of Leonid Fedun. The work has been in progress for a long time: in 2019, Leningrad, Mashina Vremeni and Ed Sheeran will perform at the stadium. Spartak's problem is strong competition with other metropolitan arenas. If it weren’t there, they would probably try to use the object more often.

5. Ekaterinburg Arena (25,000)

Team:"Ural"

Plans for 2019. This stadium is lucky. It was built on the site of the old one in the very center of the city, so it’s hard to pass by, even if you really want to. “Ural” did not show outstanding results in the first part of the championship, but achieved an average attendance of over 15 thousand people. “We want to make money by holding public events, concerts, corporate events and many other events of various formats. Plus advertising placement - we have different offers,” - these are the goals outlined by the director of the Ekaterinburg Arena, Oksana Tishchenko, in an interview with E1.ru at the end of last year. So far, only the summer concert of “Leningrad” is planned. And Ural President Grigory Ivanov recently surprised many by saying that the team could move to the old arena due to the high cost of rent for 2019. Although Tishchenko is convinced that the price is acceptable and set by the Ministry of Sports. The stadium plans to earn a million a year from excursions. Solid.

6. Samara Arena (44,918)

Team:"Wings of Soviets"

Plans for 2019. In Samara they immediately got down to business. The squares next to the stadium turned into one of the city's most popular places on New Year's Day. A skating rink was filled there and large screens were installed on which cartoons were broadcast. The area there is really large, but getting to it is not very convenient. Vice-Governor of the Samara Region Alexander Fetisov said that in 2019 the stadium area will be filled with dance studios, martial arts halls, and a fitness center. And directly at the Samara Arena they will create a sports medicine center and a center for Paralympic athletes. The plans are large-scale. The main thing is to implement them and not interfere with Krylya Sovetov, because the team is gradually returning its audience to the stadium.

7. Kazan Arena (45379)

Team:"Ruby"

Plans for 2019. The stadium has been operating in Kazan since 2013, and applications are constantly being found for it. There was also a World Aquatics Championship, and this year the WorldSkills World Championship will take place. Yes, don’t be surprised, the stadium is not owned by Rubin, so the club does not have priority status. Moreover, writing about the attendance of the Kazan team’s matches is simply embarrassing. Three to four thousand people – FNL level. The club itself is experiencing huge financial problems, which the World Cup, naturally, did not solve.

But there is Kurban Berdyev. And they sincerely believe in him. However, while the results are average, players leave. And the stadium is not averse to renting out for any events. Let the team suffer from this.

8. Nizhny Novgorod (44,899)

Team:"Nizhny Novgorod"

Plans for 2019. In Nizhny Novgorod, Governor Gleb Nikitin is personally involved in the stadium. Most recently, he approved a business plan for the stadium’s operating activities, which contains a lot of generalities and little specifics. For now, it is only clear that the stadium will become the main venue for celebrating the 800th anniversary of the city. The huge area in front of the stadium is perfect for this. And what a view of the Volga! True, after the World Cup, some wrote that the embankments near the arena were gradually sinking. And the city itself didn’t change much for the tournament. But Nizhny Novgorod is still playing and even attracting spectators. In September, everyone was surprised by the attendance at the match with Avangard - 31,300 spectators. It was not possible to keep her, but the city is definitely not indifferent to football.

9. Kaliningrad Arena (35016)

Team:"Baltika"

Plans for 2019. The only reason why Kaliningrad is not at the very bottom is that the stadium is really cool. Unfortunately, the authorities have no specific plans for it. Kaliningrad journalists wrote about this following a meeting of the Public Chamber at the end of 2018. There is also no hope that you can make money in the arena. What can we say if the first remark at that very meeting was something like this: “I want to immediately dispel dreams and hopes - there is not a single stadium in the world that pays for itself,” said commercial director of the Kaliningrad stadium Gennady Borisov.

In 2019, “Leningrad” and “Time Machine” will come to the arena. There are no further plans, at least to attract stars. Although who, if not Kaliningrad, which is located on the border with Poland and Lithuania, should do this. Conditional Depeche Mode would probably give a concert at a huge stadium with great pleasure.

“Baltika” will still play in Kaliningrad, but it attracts only a small audience – three to four thousand people. And at the federal level, apparently, they are not counting on this arena. The only chance is for the club to get a major sponsor. But does anyone believe this?

10. Volgograd Arena (45,568)

Team:"Rotor"

Plans for 2019. Rotor is an outsider in the FNL. The club, despite its popularity in city circles, is of little interest to the authorities. Several times he could simply disappear due to debts and lack of funding, but at the last moment someone saved him. The regional administration has strong plans for using the facility. On the territory of the Volgograd Arena there will be a Sports Museum of the Volgograd Region, an exhibition center, additional children's and sports facilities. They plan to hold concerts and exhibitions here. But so far everything is just in words. One of the main advantages of the Volgograd stadium is its super convenient location. Next to the historical memorial. The design of the arena is also attractive. If the authorities manage to implement their plans, it could turn out to be a very good project.

11. “Fisht” (47,659)

Team:"Sochi"
