Ocean Aquarium in Protaras

Anastasia Aquamania Waterpark is a small water park located in the Anastasia 4* hotel in the Pernera area in Protaras. For hotel guests, use of the water park attractions is included in the price of their stay. For everyone else, the hotel offers entry to the water park for a small fee.
The territory is divided into 4 small sectors: a children's playground with a shallow pool, a deeper pool with two larger slides, a pool with massage jets like a jacuzzi, where you can just swim, and 4 fairly large slides with a lazy river around. Between these sectors there are sun loungers with umbrellas that you can freely occupy. The absence of a crowd is generally very pleasant in such places, because not only are there no queues for the slides, but in principle you ride freely and no one bothers anyone. In addition, the water park has a cafe where you can buy ice cream, soft drinks and eat. The food is simple but quite tasty, prices are quite standard.

Marina Protaras and pleasure boats
In the very center of the resort, walking along the embankment, you will find a small pier, next to which several pleasure boats are parked for walks with the whole family.
First of all, pay attention to the pirate ship Flisvos Pirate. This boat is similar to the “Black Pearl”, which departs from Ayia Napa, but unlike the latter it accommodates 3 times fewer tourists. Many tourists are impressed by the fact that there are not many people on the ship.
In order for you to feel the pirate spirit as much as possible, the ship’s staff will offer you to choose costumes, apply makeup and real pirate tattoos, and will issue swords and pistols. If you are eating as an accompanying child and plan to sit quietly in a corner, it won’t work, the captain will involve all members of the ship in an exciting program. To cheer up after sailing, they offer wine and lemonade for children. Other drinks can be purchased for an additional fee. For example, a can of cold beer costs 2 euros.
The ship cruises along the coast and sails through the most picturesque places, caves and bays of Cape Greco. Makes 2 stops for swimming in the blue lagoon. You will find 19 holes with obstacles, which are quite difficult to get into. The rules of the game are quite simple. Everyone will receive a stick and will take their turn in turn order. The one who scores the most points wins.

my first review. We were in Cyprus for the first time, in the town of Protaras from May 27 to June 9, 2014. We were on holiday as a family with two children aged 2.5 years and 10 months.
Before this, we vacationed with children in Turkey, Montenegro, and Greece. I chose Cyprus because of the sea and the beach, and I’ll tell you about them first.
The sea really turned out to be warm at this time of year - 25-26 degrees - measured with a children's water thermometer every day. The sea was very pleasing - it was clean without algae, the bottom was sandy, the approach was gentle in all places, on the beach there was a fig tree bay... so the sea was 10 meters knee-deep
The beach is large, long and wide enough for everyone to have enough space. The sand, yes, is not entirely clean, there are also cigarette butts, but since it is municipal, there is no one to complain about.
All beaches are equipped with sun loungers (2.5 euros), but you can also just sit on towels by the sea.
There is one point - there are no toilets on the beach, but you can safely use the toilet of hotels, the territory of which is located right in front of the beach and is open to everyone.
There are convenient ramps to the beach for strollers. Along the entire coast, between the hotels and the sand, there is an embankment - a great place to take a walk in the evening with a stroller or rock a child to sleep during the day.
In general, what was very pleasing in Protaras was the accessibility of the roads for strollers; there were exits, ramps and all kinds of crossings everywhere. The sidewalks are wide enough to fit 2 strollers. We can only dream that someday we will have something similar.
Another important point for relaxing with children is playgrounds! I'll tell you about them. Unfortunately, there are very few of them in Protaras. The largest one is perhaps located on the embankment next to the observation deck.
The second site is located in the area of the Vangelis Hotel. It is not visible from the street, you need to navigate by the Qclub cafe, go inland from the main street about 5 meters, past the Japanese restaurant. By the way, along this Japanese restaurant there is a small river with fish. It has become my son’s favorite pastime to feed these same fish every day. You can ask where the church is and they will tell you that the site is nearby. there is a slide and a carousel and small car rides, and adults can sit in the Mexican restaurant (it’s open from 18, though). By the way, this is the quietest place, protected from the wind. I’ll tell you about the wind at the end.
Two more sites are located at the hippo campus and limon-laim restaurants, which is very convenient - you can have lunch and play.
I saw another one at the Capo Bay hotel. I didn’t find a single site at other hotels.
These are probably all the places where children can relax for free.
Another entertainment for us was the amusement rides and slot machines. There are quite a few of them along the main street, both individual and in cafes. The cost is usually 1 euro.
A special ritual for us was going to an ice cream parlor after a nap. There are quite a lot of them here - about 10 of them exactly. So every day we went to a new cafe for a scoop of ice cream. Cost from 1.4 to 2 euros for 1 huge ball.
For parents, it will be a pleasant surprise that 90% of cafes have free wi-fi. You can ask the waiter for the password.
I’ll tell you a little about the cafe - almost everywhere you can order chicken or fish soup - very similar to homemade. Cost 3.5-4 euros. All cafes have high chairs for children, for which special thanks to the Cypriots.
About baby food. In large supermarkets and small shops you can find baby food of the brands hipp, nestle, gerber. The only thing is that there is no meat puree in its pure form (we took it with us). Another difficulty will be baby milk - it doesn’t exist as such. A suitable replacement is regular natural yogurt, but personally we lived without milk for 2 weeks.
In general, if we talk about products, everything you need in Cyprus is available except buckwheat, oatmeal, and cottage cheese. Since we stayed in an aparthotel and my children love the above-mentioned cereals, we took them with us.
There are also diapers, but as in all of Europe these are made by libero, diapers and hagis brands. We didn't find any diapers with panties!
Well, now about where we lived - we went on a voucher to the Vangelis Aparthotel. The first time we took an apartment so we could cook for the kids, but we also had breakfast and dinner. In general, I was very pleased with this combination of accommodation! I only cooked porridge in the morning and soup for the kids at lunch. The adults had a tasty and satisfying meal in the hotel restaurant, and the children ate their usual food and mother’s soul was calm. The hotel itself is an excellent option for a budget holiday, a very convenient location almost in the middle of the city. Surrounded on all sides by shops including the largest supermarket Lidl. Nearby there is a children's playground and mini attractions. The beach is 10 minutes away. The rooms are nice, clean, but old, there is everything you need in the kitchen, except for a microwave. There is one drawback - next to the hotel downstairs there is a karaoke bar, perhaps the noisiest bar in all of Protaras and, accordingly, the most fun. With the windows open, you can hear everything, although this did not in the least prevent my children from sleeping soundly, but it was an inconvenience for us. Still the hotel is good. It has 4 buildings - I advise you to choose the farthest building B, it is less noisy. We lived in it. In the evening at 20.30 there was even a mini disco, but more for children 4-6 years old - we didn’t go.
All hotels in Protaras do not have a territory, that is, it is a building, a swimming pool in front of it with sun loungers and everything, sometimes an open cafe. So there is not much difference between the expensive 5 or the economy 3-4, well, if only in the interior.
We also had a trip to Ayanapa. I was disappointed with the city and Nisi Beach. Here in Protaras it is 100 times better!!! Protaras is definitely a place for families with children! On weekends, it’s true that Cypriots come and in the evening there are a lot of people, but this is only 2 days.
And now about the winds! During our vacation there was a terrible wind for a week! it started at 11 o'clock and subsided by 20, for a couple of days it blew like that all day. It's horrible! it is impossible to approach the sea. After conducting numerous surveys of locals and vacationers, we found out that it is always somewhere before June 10, then there is a breeze, but not so strong. Here is such an unpleasant nuance.
In conclusion, I want to say that this is the first place I would like to return to, albeit in September. I recommend this place for a holiday with small children.
