Aeroflot airline rules. Aeroflot baggage rules - what can be carried. Favorable prices for Aeroflot airline tickets

Carry-on baggage is the items that a passenger takes with him into the cabin. Aeroflot's rules for its carriage include the following conditions: economy class passengers can carry 10 kilograms of hand luggage, and business class passengers - no more than 15 kilograms. Its maximum permissible dimensions (the sum of length, width and height) should not exceed 115 centimeters. The carrier also allows you to take an umbrella, a folder for papers, a small handbag or briefcase, a cane, outerwear, a bouquet of flowers, a video camera, a camera and a laptop into the aircraft cabin.

Children from 2 to 12 years old are allowed to carry the same amount of hand luggage as adult passengers.

In addition, Aeroflot rules allow the carriage in the cabin of printed publications for reading during the flight, baby food for feeding a child during the flight, a baby cradle when transporting a child, a dress or suit in a case, a mobile phone and purchases made in Duty Free. Aeroflot's remaining requirements for carrying hand luggage are no different from those of other carrier airlines.

Baggage transportation

Baggage is considered to be a bag or suitcase that a passenger checks in at check-in at the airport. Its free carriage on Aeroflot aircraft is rationed as follows: an economy class passenger with 1 piece of luggage can carry luggage weighing up to 23 kilograms. A Premium Comfort or Premium Economy class passenger with 2 seats can carry 2 pieces of luggage weighing up to 23 kilograms each. Two seats in business class allow you to increase the weight of each baggage to 32 kilograms.

Previously, Aeroflot charged only for excess weight, but a couple of years ago the carrier introduced a payment system based on the number of pieces of baggage.

Snowboards and skis are classified as excess baggage, but during the ski season Aeroflot allows you to transport them completely free of charge - as an addition to the basic baggage allowance. During this period, the carrier's passengers are allowed to take with them free luggage and special equipment in the form of skis, poles, boots and a helmet (in a case).

Exceptions to Economy Class baggage allowance include flights between destinations in the Near/Middle East and the United States of America (except Miami), Asia (except Bishkek, Russia, Samarkand, Ashgabat, Khujand and Dushanbe), and India and Africa. Economy class passengers on these flights are allowed to take 2 pieces of luggage weighing 23 kilograms each.

For 2019, Aeroflot has left the maximum standards for the size and weight of hand luggage and baggage checked for transportation on an airplane unchanged. Restrictions on the number of seats, maximum weight and dimensions, known to experienced travelers, remain relevant. All baggage and carry-on baggage allowances vary depending on the class of service, and if they are exceeded, an additional fee will be charged.

Aeroflot traditionally classifies as hand luggage all items that are carried by passengers, can be safely placed in the cabin and meet the established requirements. Responsibility for their condition and the damage caused by them rests entirely with the client. During the check-in process, hand luggage is weighed and checked for size.

Number of seats

For things of this category, no more than one place is allocated on the company’s airliners, regardless of class. In other words, one passenger is allowed to take one bag into the cabin. If the flight is carried out by a family, the number of seats corresponds to the number of its members for whom individual seats are booked, regardless of age.

Limit dimensions

As a general rule, the size of hand luggage should allow it to be placed under the seat in front or on the top shelf. At Aeroflot, the maximum permissible dimensions for length, width and height are 55x40x25, respectively. The sum of three dimensions is 120 centimeters for any tariff.

Permissible weight

The weight of hand luggage for transportation on an Aeroflot aircraft is determined depending on the class. For clients flying at the Business fare, the permissible weight per seat does not exceed 15 kilograms. Economy and Comfort class provide the opportunity to take no more than 10 kilograms per seat on the plane.

Personal items

Aeroflot, like other carriers, allows its customers to take some things into the cabin without taking into account these restrictions. They are considered personal and are not taken into account when weighing. The list includes:

  • briefcases and women's handbags;
  • Cell phones;
  • laptop computers, video and photographic equipment;
  • business papers in a folder;
  • books, newspapers and magazines;
  • shopping bag from Duty Free.

This list is much longer; a more detailed list can be found on the airline’s website.

Non-standard things

The list of goods allowed for free transportation in the cabin contains items that do not meet the weight standard. These are special wheelchairs for the disabled and baby strollers that are used by the client. They will need to be handed over to the flight attendant at the entrance to the cabin. If the wheelchair has an electric drive and weighs more than 32 kilos, prior approval is required, no later than 36 hours before departure (schedule time is taken into account). Mandatory approval will be required for the transportation of all musical instruments, regardless of their size. Of the animals, only a guide dog is allowed to fly free of charge in the cabin, if they have the appropriate documents (certificate and veterinary certificate). Flights in the cabin with other animals are permitted only in a special container, the weight of which together with the animal does not exceed 8 kilograms.

Other restrictions

In addition to the items listed for this category, there are restrictions on the volume of liquids and compositions equivalent to it. This applies to drinking water, alcoholic beverages, and cosmetics. The total volume of such substances cannot exceed a liter; all liquids must be poured into containers no larger than 100 ml. The following are not allowed for transportation in the aircraft cabin:

  • all types of weapons and ammunition, items imitating them;
  • hazardous chemicals (toxic, flammable, explosive);
  • objects capable of causing cut wounds;
  • things and devices containing magnets or magnetized components.

Some of these items can only be carried in checked baggage, while others are completely prohibited for air travel. You can find out the list and details of restrictions on the website or from the contact center staff.

Baggage requirements

In the baggage category, Aeroflot includes items that exceed the weight and size characteristics of hand luggage and are transported in the baggage compartment on the plane. Items in this category are registered according to the piece system, taking into account the above parameters. Dimensions, weight, and number of seats are differentiated in accordance with the rules for using a certain tariff.

Number of seats and size restrictions

For Business, Comfort and Economy Premium fares, two seats are provided per ticket. According to the norms of the economy tariff group, this option is limited to one seat. If the total weight of checked items is less than 10 kilograms, the number of free baggage spaces is not limited. On the ticket, their number is usually indicated under the abbreviation PC (Piece Plan) with the corresponding number. Acceptable dimensions in all cases should not exceed 158 centimeters in the sum of three dimensions (W*H*D).

Weight restrictions

The allowed weight of baggage on an airplane varies depending on the fare. The limit for the Business group is 32 kilograms. For other groups, including Comfort, weight restrictions are more stringent. In this case, you can transport no more than 23 kilograms per person. For minors, standards similar to those for adults apply. These requirements may vary depending on the flight, so before the flight it is advisable to clarify what weight you can take with you through the carrier’s contact center.

Exceeding the norm

All cases of excess baggage are registered as excess baggage. The calculation is carried out for each parameter; if an excess is allowed for all requirements, the cost of transportation will be determined based on the total amount. Additional payment required:

  • for second, third and each subsequent place, 2.5 and 7.5 thousand, respectively;
  • for exceeding the permissible weight depending on the class of service, 2.5 if the excess is from 23 to 32 kilos and 5 when the weight goes beyond 32, but does not exceed 50;
  • for excess sizes from 158 to 203 centimeters, 5 thousand are awarded, more than 203–7.5.

The amounts are fixed, on domestic flights they are charged in rubles, on international flights in foreign currency. In the latter case, payment is made in ruble equivalent at the current Central Bank exchange rate.

Non-standard cargo

Special transportation rules apply to heavy and/or oversized cargo. This category consists of objects weighing from 32 to 50 kilos, with dimensions no more than 203 centimeters in the sum of length, width and height. The following sports equipment is considered as one piece of luggage allowed for free transportation:

  • a set of skis with poles and boots in a case;
  • a covered snowboard with a pair of boots;
  • a pair of clubs in a case with packed equipment;
  • bicycle prepared for transportation;
  • covered golf equipment;
  • a pair of rods with a set of tackle in appropriate packaging.

In addition to sports equipment, the list of non-standard luggage includes weapons with ammunition, various types of musical instruments, and animals. The non-standard category may include packaging that is usual for travelers; for example, if the weight and size characteristics of a suitcase exceed the permissible limits, it is considered oversized. The rules for transporting this category of cargo must be clarified with employees or on the airline’s website.

Aeroflot is one of the most popular Russian companies. Thousands of passengers fly on its planes every day. To ensure your trip goes smoothly, I recommend checking your airline's baggage rules in advance. I have collected all Aeroflot standards and dimensions in one article.

When setting their baggage rules, airlines are guided by general rules that set a minimum transported volume. Most recently, airlines were allowed to introduce baggage-free fares and carry free carry-on luggage weighing 5 kg. You can legally charge extra for transporting items above. Aeroflot decided not to follow the path of increasing the cost of travel and left its tariffs and baggage allowances at the same level. This distinguishes it favorably from Pobeda Airlines, which has maximally limited the conditions for transporting things. I have already told you which ones.

The basic rules for carrying baggage at Aeroflot airline are as follows:

  1. All baggage (including hand luggage that the passenger takes into the aircraft cabin) must be presented at check-in for the flight;
  2. It must be marked with special tags;
  3. On all airline flights, a piece baggage system is installed. In simple words, this means that one piece of luggage = 1 suitcase (bag). Even if its weight is less than permissible, you will not be allowed to carry the second one for free;
  4. The number of pieces of baggage depends on the class of service and the type of fare used;
  5. To find out how many pieces of baggage your ticket includes, take a closer look at the numbers on it - 1рс, 2рс, 3рс. The number indicates the number of bags or suitcases that you can carry for free;
  6. If the total weight of a passenger's luggage, including hand luggage, is less than 10 kg, the number of pieces is not limited;
  7. It often happens that Aeroflot operates joint flights with partners. In this situation, other baggage allowances may apply on the route, determined by the dominant carrier.
  8. On codeshare flights operated by Aurora and Rossiya airlines, the same rules apply as on Aeroflot flights. The exception is Aurora flights: SU3630-3639, SU4526-4545, SU4591-4629, for which the baggage allowance is one piece for all fare groups.

Standards and dimensions for baggage transportation at Aeroflot

All baggage that a passenger takes with him on Aeroflot aircraft is divided into:

  • Checked baggage (the baggage that is checked in at check-in)
  • Hand luggage (taken into the cabin)

On airline flights, regardless of class, the following dimensions apply:

  1. for checked baggage, the dimensions must be no more than 158 cm in the sum of three dimensions;
  2. for hand luggage, the dimensions must be no more than 115 cm in the sum of three dimensions.

Free baggage allowances vary depending on the class of service and fare selected. The minimum weight of baggage on an airplane per person in Aeroflot in 2017 in economy class (except for the premium fare) is:

  • checked baggage 1 piece up to 23 kg;
  • hand luggage 1 piece up to 10 kg.

Business class allowed

  • checked baggage for two pieces of 32 kg each;
  • hand luggage 1 piece no more than 15 kg.

For children from 2 to 12 years old, Aeroflot aircraft have the same baggage allowance as for adult passengers.

For infants under 2 years old (who did not purchase a ticket for a separate seat), the free baggage allowance is 1 piece weighing no more than 10 kg with the sum of three dimensions not exceeding 115 cm. This procedure applies regardless of the class of service.

Special baggage allowance

In some cases, Aeroflot may establish special baggage allowances. For example, the airline has increased the number of available seats on some routes or introduced privileges for members of the Aeroflot bonus loyalty program.

What is allowed and prohibited to be carried on an airplane in luggage

In checked baggage you are allowed to carry:

  • crossbows, spearguns, checkers, sabers, cutlasses, scimitars, broadswords, swords, rapiers, bayonets, daggers, knives with ejectable blades, with locking locks, simulators of any type of weapon;
  • household knives (scissors) with a blade length over 60 mm;
  • alcoholic drinks containing more than 24%, but not more than 70% alcohol by volume in containers with a capacity of no more than 5 liters, in containers intended for retail trade - no more than 5 liters per passenger;
  • liquids and alcoholic drinks with an alcohol content by volume of no more than 24%;
  • aerosols intended for use for sports or household purposes, the release valves of the cans are protected by caps from spontaneous release of the contents in containers with a capacity of no more than 0.5 kg or 500 ml - no more than 2 kg or 2 liters per passenger;
  • medical thermometer containing mercury, in a standard case - one per passenger.

First of all, dangerous substances that can cause harm to other passengers or the aircraft are prohibited for transportation in baggage. For example, explosive or flammable substances. The greatest restrictions apply to carrying items in hand luggage. You can clearly see what is allowed and prohibited to be carried on an Aeroflot plane in the diagram below.

Extra charge for excess baggage

If your baggage exceeds the permissible weight or the number of seats set in accordance with the selected fare, you will have to pay extra. So, the payment for additional baggage space on domestic flights will be 2,500 rubles, and on international flights the price depends on the country (from 2,975 rubles to 6,900 rubles). It should be noted that every third and subsequent bags (suitcases) will cost several times more. Aeroflot also charges an additional fee for exceeding the size by the sum of three dimensions. To avoid unnecessary payments, plan your luggage in advance, both by weight and dimensions. Additional payment for excess baggage is an additional cost. The excess baggage surcharge price depends on whether you are traveling on a domestic flight or an international flight. For more details on the cost of the surcharge, see the table.

If the free baggage allowance is exceeded for several categories (for example, number of pieces and dimensions), the amount of the corresponding baggage fares will be applied to pay for the excess.

Oversized luggage

Oversized baggage on Aeroflot flights is baggage whose weight exceeds 32 kg (but not more than 50 kg) and/or the sum of three dimensions exceeds 203 cm. It is also called heavy baggage. The transportation of such cargo must be agreed upon with the airline no later than 36 hours before the flight departure.

Carrying skis

On Aeroflot airline flights, the following ski equipment is included in the ticket price and is regarded as one piece of baggage: a case with 1 pair of skis and 1 pair of poles + 1 piece of luggage with a pair of boots (or 1 case with a pair of water skis). If the sum of the passenger's pieces of luggage and its weight does not exceed the parameters specified in the air ticket, then no additional payment will be required for the transportation of ski equipment.

Snowboard transportation

Carriage of one snowboard in one case and one piece of luggage with a pair of boots is included in the air ticket price.

Transporting a bicycle

According to the airline's rules, you can transport a bicycle prepared for transportation as luggage. It will fit one piece of luggage. If you no longer have checked baggage or your fare includes 2 or more pieces, then transporting a bicycle will be free.

Carrying fishing rods

Fishing equipment is transported packed in one container or case. One piece of luggage corresponds to 2 fishing rods or 1 set of tackle.

For more information about the rules for transporting sports equipment, see the photographs.

Other sports equipment not listed in the table is considered as one piece of baggage and is included in the free carriage allowance.

Rules for transporting weapons on an Aeroflot plane

Weapons (one unit or a special container for transportation with several weapons belonging to one passenger) and one piece of baggage with ammunition for it are considered one piece of baggage. If the carriage limit established by the tickets is not exceeded, then you will not need to pay extra for transportation. However, if the permissible weight is exceeded, payment will be required. The gross weight of ammunition cannot exceed 5 kilograms. It is prohibited to transport weapons and ammunition in the same container. Cartridges for gas weapons are also prohibited. Weapons are transported in an unloaded state.

When transporting weapons through the territory of the Russian Federation, the passenger requires permission to store and carry weapons. When importing or exporting abroad or transporting through the territory of Russia, the passenger must have a permit to import or export weapons issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. When flying with a transfer, the weapon must be re-registered.

Simulator weapons cannot be transported in the aircraft cabin. They must be checked in as luggage.

To transport firearms, it is necessary to agree with the carrier no more than 36 hours before the flight departure time. To check in for a flight, a passenger transporting weapons must arrive 1.5 hours before departure.

Carriage of musical instruments

On Aeroflot airlines, musical instruments can be transported both in the aircraft cabin and in luggage.

  1. In the interior, the weight of the instrument should not exceed 80 kg, and the dimensions should correspond to the dimensions 135x50x30. In this case, the rules for the carriage of baggage carried in the passenger seat apply.
  2. In the baggage compartment, the general rules for the carriage of checked and excess baggage apply.

Carrying musical instruments requires prior approval from the airline no later than 36 hours before flight departure.

Wheelchair, baby stroller, guide dog

Wheelchairs, baby strollers and guide dogs are carried free on Aeroflot aircraft if used by a passenger.

In addition to a wheelchair, you can bring a special-purpose wheelchair free of charge. To transport a large battery-powered wheelchair weighing more than 32 kg, approval from the carrier is required no more than 36 hours before departure of the flight.

Favorable prices for Aeroflot airline tickets

You can check ticket prices to any city and country in the form below.

Passengers of the largest airline in the Russian Federation often come across the term “extra baggage” at Aeroflot, which is called excess baggage on the official website. This category includes those types of cargo that exceed the norms for free transportation of items established by the carrier. A passenger who has violated the rules must pay a fee taking into account the current tariffs. How much does extra baggage space cost at Aeroflot? What does the price depend on? How to make a payment? We will consider these and other points in detail.

Current standards

To ensure that the carriage of additional baggage on Aeroflot aircraft does not come as a surprise, you need to clearly understand the standards that the carrier sets for customers.

It all depends on the class of service that the passenger has chosen:

  • In the Business class It is allowed to check in luggage for two pieces, each of which should not exceed 32 kg in weight. For hand luggage - 1*15 kg.
  • In "Comfort" and "Economy" classes(Premium group) the permissible norm is less. Here, two seats are also allowed, but the maximum weight should not exceed 23 kg. For hand luggage - 1*10 kg.
  • In other Economy class tariffs You can only take one seat, and the upper weight limit is only 23 kg. For hand luggage - 1*10 kg.

For all three cases, the size standards are identical - no more than 115 cm(for hand luggage) and 158 cm (for regular cargo). In other situations, you will have to buy space for additional luggage on Aeroflot airliners.

If the total weight of the transported cargo is not more than 10 kg, the number of seats is not limited. In this case, a mark on the number of acceptable items for free cargo is placed on the receipt. The registration standards mentioned are valid from the point of departure to the destination city or the first stopover city. In case of cooperation with other airlines during the flight, transportation standards may change.

How much does extra baggage cost at Aeroflot?

Knowledge of cargo transportation standards is mandatory for all air carrier passengers. Otherwise, oversized or extra-heavy baggage will be detected during the check-in period, which may result in flight delays and inability to board the plane. That is why the conditions and standards for transporting things should be clarified in advance, even before purchasing a ticket and registering.

How much does extra baggage cost at Aeroflot?? From November 15, 2016, new tariffs were introduced for air carrier passengers. The cost of excess cargo depends on the type of “violation”, and the amount of payments is given in different currencies. Full information on the price of additional baggage can be found on the official Aeroflot website.

Basic tariffs:

  • If the number of seats increases (when the norm is limited to only one item), you will have to pay 2,500 rubles for the next place, and 7,500 for the third. When transporting from other countries, the cost of an additional piece of baggage is calculated in euros and US dollars (100 and 200, respectively).
  • If according to the tariff the norm was two places, but there were not enough for the passenger to place his things, for the third and each subsequent position you will have to pay 7,500 rubles. In US and EU currency it is 200 dollars (euros), respectively.
  • If the weight of additional baggage carried on an Aeroflot airliner exceeds 23 kg, the additional payment will be 2,500 rubles. (125 in foreign currency). In this case, the upper limit should not be more than 32 kg. If the higher limit of 32 kg (but not more than 50 kg) was exceeded, you will have to buy additional luggage space for the amount of 5,000 rubles. ($200 and Euro).
  • Another situation involves the transportation of large cargo, the dimensions of which exceed the permissible limits. If the dimensions (the sum of three dimensions) are more than 158 cm, but less than 203 cm, the payment for additional baggage at Aeroflot will be 5,000 rubles. ($125 and euros).

Exceeding the dimensions of 203 cm will cost more- in the amount of 7500 rubles. (in EU and US currencies - 200).

Tariff features

It is worth considering that the given fares are valid only for Aeroflot airline aircraft. For cases of shared use, it is worth checking in advance how much an additional piece of baggage on the plane costs, because the tariff plan of another carrier may differ. It is advisable to obtain this information in advance with the help of a contact center operator.

If the transported cargo weighs more than 32 kg, and its dimensions (dimensions) are outside the permissible limits (from 203 cm or more), transportation can be carried out after resolving the issue with airline representatives.

Another point is how to pay for additional luggage when transporting it by Aeroflot. This can be done directly at the airport - near the counter where baggage is checked in. But it’s better to do the work in advance - through the official website. If the actual weight of the cargo turns out to be greater, you can pay the difference at the airport.
