Holidays in Batumi with a small child. If you are in Batumi with a child. Holidays in Kobuleti with a child

Georgia cannot yet offer a developed tourism infrastructure for family tourism. The transport alone is worth it. To get from Tbilisi airport to the Black Sea coast you will need to travel half a day by bus. There are very few high-quality and affordable hotels here, where you could completely trust the service and relax to the fullest.

But there are also advantages, which we will also talk about in this article.

Why is it worth coming to Georgia with children?

  • One of the best countries for
  • Visa-free regime (you only need a valid passport).
  • Favorable conditions for healing (sun, mountain air, magnetite sands, thermal waters)
  • Natural products. An abundance of homemade fermented milk products, local fruits and vegetables are a storehouse of vitamins.
  • Tasty food. But please note that all dishes are highly spiced. Khachapuri, pies and desserts are suitable for children. Order other dishes without spices.
  • Developing resorts. Not all cities and beaches are equipped for a comfortable pastime, but they are actively being updated and built.
  • Rich excursion program: picturesque nature, mountains and ancient cities.
  • Lots of entertainment for children.

When is the best time to come to Georgia

The end of June could be a good option for a relaxing time with the kids. This month there is a calm atmosphere, there are few tourists, and the sea has already warmed up enough. Minus - there may be rains, due to the flowing river, the water in the sea is dirty in color (Batumi) and many entertainments on the beach do not work.

The peak season begins in July, when cafes on the beaches open and places become smaller. Therefore, for children, the environment will be less favorable and noisy. But at this time all entertainment on the beaches is already open and the weather is the sunniest.

It is better to give preference to August. Temperatures are most favorable for sun exposure and the water is the warmest at this time.

Excursion trips can be organized in May and September.

You can taste seasonal fruits from May to November. The first strawberry crop is harvested in May, followed by cherries and apricots, then peaches, melons, watermelons, figs, apples and pears. Autumn brings grapes, persimmons, pomegranates and tangerines. The last harvests are harvested in November.

Summer resorts

Tbilisi

The capital warmly welcomes its guests and offers many different entertainments, excursions and interesting places.

You should start your acquaintance with a tour of the streets and courtyards of the old city. It will be interesting to organize an individual excursion, during which you can move at a pace convenient for you, and the guide, looking into the old courtyards with carved balconies, will be able to interest children.

Interesting places to visit:

  • Narikala fortress and cable car;
  • Rike Park;
  • Mtatsminda amusement park and funicular ride;
  • doll museum;
  • mini science museum;
  • zoo;
  • aquapark;
  • entertainment center "Astra park";
  • Turtle Lake.

This is the main tourist center of Georgia, located in the subtropical climate zone.

The city is very lively and there is a lot of entertainment for children here:

  • In the city center there is a zoo and a dolphinarium, which are open to the public every day.
  • On the embankment there are playgrounds with cartoon characters, an amusement park, attractions and singing fountains.

Teenagers might be interested in a ride on the famous cable car or cycling along Batumi Boulevard.

The only drawback of the resort is the polluted beach, especially in the central part of the city, it is not cleaned properly, so there is a lot of garbage lying around.

The entire beach is made of large pebbles, which is not very comfortable for children.

There are hotels with an all-inclusive system in Batumi, but they are not in great demand, since at the established prices it is much more profitable to eat in local cafes and restaurants (the average price for a full meal per person is 20 GEL). Guest houses and private sectors are in great demand; living conditions in such places are not bad, but the prices are more than affordable.

Kvariati

This is an elite village on the Black Sea coast, which is famous for its clean beach and water. In addition, there is a unique combination of air - mountain and sea, which will be especially useful for people with VSD and problems with the respiratory and nervous systems.

For teenagers, the main entertainment at this resort is diving, since the underwater world here is especially diverse and attractive.

On the beach itself there are standard entertainment, for example, rubber trampolines. You can rent pedal boats or scooters.

Kobuleti

The resort town in Adjara, located just 20 km from Batumi in the Colchis Lowland, differs from other cities in its special microclimate.

At the entrance to the city there is the largest and most popular amusement park in Transcaucasia - “Tsitsinatela”, where there is entertainment for both the youngest and older children.

By the river

Ureki is ideal for a family secluded vacation; it has a clear sea with a sandy beach.

Magnetic sands are known for their healing properties: they have a beneficial effect on the state of the nervous and cardiovascular systems and contribute to their normalization.

Apart from playgrounds, there is no entertainment here.

Cape Verde

The resort got its name due to its year-round green cover.

There is practically no infrastructure in this place; the only entertainment is a walk through the botanical garden. It contains many unique rare plants that will be interesting to see.

Teenagers can go diving or windsurfing here.

Don't sit still, arrange a sightseeing tour of all the resorts. Each city has its own attractions, and it is simply impossible to visit Georgia and not admire the nature in the surrounding area.

In summer, the most preferable route is from Batumi to Tbilisi; the road is good and takes about 5-6 hours on average. The capital has a lot of entertainment for children: Mtatsminda Park, Wonderland Park, Dolphinarium, Zoo, cable car, mini science museum.

Where to relax in winter

Georgia is also famous for its ski resorts, the best of which are Bakuriani and Gudauri. There is a regular transfer from Tbilisi to the resorts; the journey takes about 2-3 hours. A vacation in these places is much cheaper than in popular European resorts, but the service and quality of the ski slopes are at the same level.

The main advantage of these resorts is the presence of “paddling pools”, so the place is safe even for the little ones.

Gudauri

Gudauri is the youngest resort and is the hallmark of Georgia.

In addition to the ski slopes, the resort has a lot of other entertainment: tennis courts, a swimming pool, bowling alley and a cafe. Hang gliding or helicopter flights are in great demand; from such a height a beautiful view of the mountain landscapes opens up.

In total, there are more than 10 small hotels of a high European level in Gudauri, but it is possible to stay in simpler private cottages, where the cost of accommodation per day is several times cheaper. But you need to book accommodation long before the start of your vacation.

Bakuriani

Bakuriani is the oldest ski resort, it is more preferable for family holidays.

Here you can rent sleds, snowmobiles or ATVs, go horseback riding or take the services of a guide around the area. In the very center there is a small slope with rope ropes, where instructors teach beginners and children how to snowboard or ski for a small fee.

You can stay in a hotel or private house; the room price usually includes three meals a day. Also, not far from the resort there is the famous Borjomi, where you can go on an excursion and enjoy the healing mineral waters.

Every year a huge number of tourists come to Batumi to enjoy the warmth and soak up the hot sand. But besides the water surface, the resort has other entertainment, as they say, for every taste and budget.

Not everyone is able to sit on the beach from morning until late evening, sunbathing and swimming in the sea.

By the way, in Batumi itself there is also a “winter reminder” - built not so long ago Ice Palace. Sometimes figure skating competitions or hockey matches take place within its walls.

We will not classify and list all the variety of restaurants and cafes in the city as entertainment, especially since there is a separate article on this topic. And most of all, you probably already read about it before.

In this article, we decided to collect the most popular and interesting entertainment, sorting them by category and attractiveness in our subjective opinion.

Cultural entertainment

When you get a little tired of lying around or have a lot of free time, we advise you to immerse yourself in the culture of this wonderful resort, namely, go (at least for fun) to the theater, museum or the Center for Music and Art. We are sure that you will be satisfied and will not regret your choice.

Theaters and cinema "Apollo" in Batumi

There are few theaters in the city: Drama, Summer, Opera and Puppet Theater (we will talk about it below, in the section). Each of them is interesting, beautiful and modern in its own way.

Drama Theater located at: st. Rustaveli, 1, next to (almost in the city center). The building is regularly repaired, maintaining its presentable appearance. And in itself it cannot but cause admiration. Performances in the theater are held regularly on weekends. Foreign artists with unusual premieres are frequent guests there. Ticket price is approx. 8 – 10 GEL GEORGIAN GEL RATE:
8 lari = 2.65 euros;
8 lari = 3.04 dollars;
8 lari = 201.76 rubles;
8 lari = 85.12 hryvnia;

. It is worth considering that the performances are performed in Georgian.

The Batumi summer theater looks especially beautiful and unusual in the evening when the lights turn on.

Summer Theater located on the central embankment of the city, next to the Colonnade. This is a new building, made of wood, although built in the manner of its predecessor, which burned down in 2001. The theater is especially beautiful in the evening. We recommend attending one of the theater's performances and admiring its interior decoration.

Operatic or, as it is commonly called, the Center for Music and Art welcomes guests and residents of Batumi at the address: st. Odyssey Dimitriadi, 1, across the road from the embankment. The original building opened not so long ago, in 2011. It hosts a variety of concerts, performances, and performances by music and dance groups.

In fact, the Center for Music and Art is a House of Culture. The inside of the building is incredibly beautiful, more like a modern opera house. Performances are held in Russian. There are fountains in front of the House of Culture (as well as on the first floor of the building). In the evening, they illuminate beautifully and shimmer in the rays of the setting sun. And the building of the Center for Music and Art was included in the top five most unusual theaters. We recommend you take a look!

A second impressive excursion awaits you during trips around mountainous Adjara. Batumi is the fourth largest city in Georgia, a major port, and the cultural and economic center of Georgia. Doesn't look like much of a family vacation spot yet? This is because you need to get to know the Batumi resort in person. Then it turns out that this is a beautiful town with narrow streets of old quarters, modern elegant squares and shady parks. That there is a very good, and most importantly, very long beach (and there are even better beaches in the surrounding area). That along the sea there are hotels for every taste and budget. That the city has many museums and family entertainment. And that in every cafe you will be served the famous Adjarian-style khachapuri.

Isn’t it true that holidays with children in Batumi now seem very attractive? Kidpassage has collected information about all the advantages and disadvantages of this resort - now you can thoroughly prepare for your trip.

Where is Batumi

The city of Batumi is located in southwest Georgia, on the Black Sea coast. The capital of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, a major port, the main tourist center of the country. The distance from Batumi to Tbilisi is 374 km, to Kobuleti - 30 km, to Borjomi - 274 km.

Batumi was first mentioned by Aristotle - then the settlement was called Batus. If you look for where Batumi is located on medieval maps, you will see the name “Batomi”. In the 19th century, the city was called Batum and only in 1936 it acquired its current name.

Vacation with children

Batumi is a convenient city for tourists. This is evident in everything: direct flights, a good selection of hotels, and a variety of leisure options. But at the same time, we recommend coming to Batumi with children for a few days for the excursion program, and then going to a quiet seaside resort to sunbathe and swim.

Beach holidays in Batumi are by no means in first place. Here you can really relax by the sea, fortunately, the climate of Georgia allows you to sunbathe and swim all summer and most of the autumn. But the best beaches are not in the city itself, but in suburban villages.

A trip to Batumi will be appreciated by teenagers who are interested in excursions and active recreation. With them you can wander around museums or go to the mountains for a day or two - there are many natural attractions near the city.

At the same time, in Batumi there is also something interesting for younger children: a dolphinarium, a zoo, a water park, and attractions. But in order to relax with your child calmly, without noise and fuss, it is better to choose another seaside resort, for example, Kobuleti, Ureki, Gonio or Kvariati.

Please note that in summer and autumn there can be mosquitoes in Batumi. Therefore, we recommend taking repellent with you, and if you are traveling with an infant, take care of a protective net for the stroller.

When is the best time to go?

The tourist season in Batumi lasts all year round. Of course, the main flow of tourists occurs in the summer, but even in winter the local hotels and restaurants are not empty - at this time you can enjoy Georgian hospitality without fuss.

And yet, summer is the best time to get to know Batumi. And since summer here is considered to be the period from May to October, you don’t have to plan a vacation during the peak season and relax quietly in those months when there are few people at the resort.

The season opens in Batumi in May. Warm days at the end of spring are great for excursions, but swimming in the sea will have to be postponed until June - the water does not have time to warm up. In June there are all conditions for sunbathing and swimming, and the number of tourists is not very large yet. But in July-August Batumi is crowded with vacationers.

When is the best time to go to Batumi with a child? The optimal time is September and the first half of October. With the onset of autumn, most vacationers leave, but the weather is favorable for beach holidays and excursions.

By the way, all summer (and let us remember, it lasts six months in Batumi) at the resort you can buy fruits and berries grown in Georgia. In May-June, strawberries, cherries, cherries, and medlars are sold here. In July, the shelves are filled with peaches, nectarines and plums. In August it’s time for apples, pears, and figs. In autumn, grapes and pomegranates appear on the markets.

On the first weekend of September, Batumi celebrates City Day, or Batumoba. These days, many interesting events take place on the streets of the city, which help to better understand the traditions of Georgia.

Weather and climate

The subtropical climate of Batumi - with hot summers and high humidity - requires care in choosing a time to relax with your child. It is better to choose May-June and September-October for your trip, when there is no excessive heat and stuffiness.

If you believe the archives of meteorological observations, the average temperature of the summer months in Batumi is low: about +25-26° C. But sometimes real heat hits the city. It happens that in July the air temperature reaches +40° C.

The peculiarity of Batumi's climate is frequent rains. The greatest amount of precipitation falls in winter, but rainy weather is not uncommon in summer.

It rains the least in May. Considering that this month the air warms up to +19° C, the end of spring can be considered a good time for excursions.

In June, the resort experiences truly summer weather. Daytime temperatures rise to +23-24° C, the water in the sea becomes warm enough for swimming. Perhaps the best holiday in Batumi with children is in June, before the heat sets in.

The heat usually comes in July-August. The average temperature of these months is only about +26°C, but in the sun thermometers show +30°C and above. Frequent short-term rains do not interfere with beach holidays, but increase air humidity.

Summer nights in Batumi are quite cold. With the onset of dusk, the temperature can drop to +17-20° C.

In order not to adapt to the “steam room”, it is better to come to the resort in September. The air temperature at this time drops to +24° C, and the sea remains warm like summer. If you are planning to come to Batumi with a baby, we recommend choosing September.

The velvet season sometimes stretches throughout October. The air in mid-autumn maintains a temperature of about +20° C, so an October vacation in Batumi should be devoted to travel rather than a beach holiday.

From November to March, Batumi comes under the wing of a rainy and warm winter. But already in April the air warms up to +16° C, which indicates the approach of a new tourist season.

Sea water temperature

In May there are many sunbathers on the beaches of Batumi. But almost no one is in a hurry to swim: the sea temperature is only +15-17°C at the beginning of the month and +18-19°C at the end. From the first days of summer, the water temperature in Batumi will rise rapidly. By mid-June the sea will warm up to +22-23° C, and by the beginning of July - to +24-25° C. In the second half of summer the sea becomes almost hot. Often the water temperature reaches +27-28° C.

The sea remains just as luxuriously warm in September. Although the water temperature is gradually decreasing, by the end of September the water is still very warm - about +22-25° C.

If autumn is dry and sunny, you can swim in the sea at least until mid-October. But then the water becomes increasingly colder, and by the beginning of November the sea temperature is only +18-19° C.

Nutrition

There is also something suitable for children in Georgian cuisine. This is, first of all, Adjarian-style khachapuri - a hearty boat-shaped pie with suluguni cheese and egg. A delicious achma made from puff pastry and Imeretian cheese is also suitable for a snack. Well, in the “House of Baklava” you need to try all the baklava. In addition, Batumi has many restaurants offering European cuisine.

If during your independent holiday in Batumi with children you plan to cook the usual food, then you can buy everything you need in supermarkets - they are mainly located in the city center. A huge food market is located next to the port. Batumi supermarkets have a fairly good selection of baby food. Mixtures, cereals and purees can also be purchased at pharmacies.

Transport

The main type of public transport in Batumi is buses. They can be used to get to any point in the city and even to the nearest villages. There is a timetable and route map at every stop; usually the information is given in Georgian and English.

The most useful routes are No. 1 and 1a (water park, bus station), No. 8 (train station), No. 10 (connects the airport, resort area and tourist center).

A bus ride costs 0.40 GEL, while a ticket is valid for 2 trips or 2 people and costs 0.80 GEL. A trip to the suburbs will cost 0.80 GEL. Children under 6 years old travel free of charge. In addition to buses, minibuses run around Batumi. The fare for them is the same as for buses, but there is no route map - you will have to find out on the spot where this or that minibus goes.

You can also use a taxi. This is a relatively inexpensive form of transport in Batumi, however, the cars are not equipped with a meter, so we recommend agreeing on the price with the driver in advance. The most unusual transport is the cable car. A full one-way ticket costs 5 GEL, tickets for children - 2 GEL.

To get around Batumi you can rent a bicycle. We recommend not to drive onto the roadway, since traffic discipline in the city is lame.

Georgia is famous for its nature, beaches, warm weather, friendly people and amazing food, so holidays in this country are becoming increasingly popular - especially since they are quite budget-friendly. One of the most famous resorts in Georgia, Batumi is a small (with an area of just under 70 square kilometers) city in southwestern Georgia, the capital of the Republic of Adjara. This is a “favorite” of both locals and tourists - clean, seaside, modern, with a huge number of hotels and restaurants. This is a great place for a beach holiday, entertainment and trips with children.

When is the best time to go to Batumi with children?

Most tourists go to Batumi in the summer - from July to August. This is the high tourist season in Georgia and the warmest period in Adjara. Temperatures can reach up to 30 degrees, but on average the air warms up to 25-26 degrees, and feels hotter than in Moscow or other central cities of Russia.

The best time to holiday in Batumi, especially with children, is June or September. The sea water during these months is warm and comfortable, and the air temperature is slightly lower than in mid-summer, so you can go on long walks without fear.

In winter and spring, you can also go to the city, but during these times of the year there is frequent rain, and the coolness due to high air humidity is felt more strongly, so you will need to prepare additionally for your vacation.

What is the best way to get to Batumi

There are four ways to get to Batumi:

  • by plane,
  • by bus,
  • by ferry from Sochi,
  • by car.

The most optimal and convenient option is an airplane. When traveling with children, it is very important to find the fastest way to travel - children do not tolerate long journeys well. And those rare buses that go straight to the resort usually take more than 24 hours. Most buses still only reach the capital of Georgia, and the road from Tbilisi to Batumi takes more than 10 hours.

Traveling by your own car also requires a lot of time, although it is very convenient. Ferries operate only from Sochi and Ukrainian Chernomorsk (Ilyichevsk).

However, you can only fly to Batumi from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. The cost of one round trip ticket is about 18-20 thousand rubles in the summer.

The airport is small, but convenient enough for traveling with children, with a large number of seats and one cafe on site, located near the city center. Public transport stops are very close, buses run every 20-30 minutes. You can also get to the city by taxi or minibus.
