What is Ski Dubai?
Already from a distance, approaching the building, you will see its exorbitant dimensions - 85 meters in height, can be compared with a 25-story skyscraper, about 80 meters wide. The total area of the ski complex is 22,500 sq. m. This is what real Arab scale means! However, unusual giant buildings by local architects have become familiar to this country.
The roof of the building serves as a thermal insulation dome, which protects from scorching sun rays and is five meters thick. Inside, the room resembles a giant refrigerator, equipped with various types of insulating and cooling devices, including 23 powerful air conditioners.
Along the entire perimeter of the floor there is a special mesh of tubes through which cold air flows are supplied. Machines for the production of artificial snow produce about 30 tons of new snow cover per day, which daily renews the top layer of each slope.
The average thickness of the cover is relatively stable and amounts to 0.5 meters. The temperature in the complex is always -1°C, -2°C, which is very comfortable for the well-being of athletes, and the snow will not melt in such conditions.
It is worth noting that in normal natural environments, when skiing, people have to hide their eyes under sunglasses. Here there is no bright sunlight at all, so glasses are not needed.
What activities does Ski Dubai offer?
Every day about 1.5 thousand people come to ski, snowboard or just have a great time. Vacationers are provided with 4 slopes, which differ from each other in the degree of difficulty of the ski slope. The most difficult slope stretches 400 meters in length, but after some time of intensive training, it will seem easy to pass. There is also a separate bobsleigh track. For beginners in this sport, the complex offers the services of professional instructors.
Chairlifts and drag lifts, which are no different from the lifts at ski resorts, will help you get to the top of the slope. It is not at all necessary to bring all the equipment for skiing with you; all the necessary equipment can be rented right on the spot.
Living coniferous trees are planted throughout the complex, so the organizers wanted to bring a sense of real mountain flavor.
Ski Dubai offers little guests tobogganing (reminiscent of a regular sled), for which a special track has been built. Not far from it there is a children's cafe, an area for active games, a snow park (3000 sq. m), a snow shooting range and an unusually beautiful ice cave.
