Sales in France attract fashionistas from all over the world, because this is an opportunity to purchase haute couture outfits, as well as favorite budget brands at generous discounts. The main shopping destination, of course, is Paris - the founder of world fashion. Therefore, both French women and guests of the country eagerly await the time when sales begin in Paris, because the assortment of stores is very actively emptied already in the first hours of Soldes.

The beginning of the sales season in Paris is traditionally announced by the mayor of the capital; in other cities they take place simultaneously, but with slight variations. Sales in France start later in overseas regions: on the island of Regnon, French Guadeloupe and Guiana, Martinique, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.

Winter sales in Paris 2017

Sales in Paris in winter 2017 will last 6 weeks, but even after the end of the official “Soldes”, many stores will continue the promotions for another two weeks. Winter sales in Paris 2017 will be held from 11.01 to 21.02. Traditionally they start on the second Wednesday in January, but if it falls after the 12th, Christmas sales in Paris should start a week earlier.

The price dynamics are as follows: “Soldes” are rocking with a 20-30% discount, the maximum that can be expected in January 2017 is minus 50%. The biggest sale in Paris for winter 2017 will be in February, when you will see 80% off on some price tags. Please note that discounts in Paris 2017 may be specified differently. Instead of 50%, there are two circles stuck on the price tag - 20% and 30%, that is, they need to be summed up.

Summer sales in Paris 2017

Summer discounts in Paris traditionally begin on the last Wednesday of June and will last for 6 weeks, that is, from 28.06 to 08.08. If last Wednesday had fallen after the 28th, the Paris 2017 summer sales would have moved a week earlier. Prices will melt in the winter scenario. First, stores will discount 20-30% of the cost of goods, in the middle of summer you can buy outfits with a 50% discount, and at the end of “Soldes” you will see 70-80% discounts on some models of the collection. True, do not count on massive collapse in prices; as a rule, maximum discounts are given on slow-moving goods. But even a 50% discount on designer clothes will be quite noticeable in monetary terms.

When you arrive in Paris for a designer sale, be sure to visit the “Golden Triangle” of streets - the center of sales in Paris, where elite boutiques from D&G, Prada, Valentino, Chanel, Lacroix, Louis Vuitton are located. How do I save on hotels?

It’s very simple - look not only on booking. I prefer the search engine RoomGuru. He searches for discounts simultaneously on Booking and on 70 other booking sites.

When I was planning this trip, I was counting on positive weather. At least, different sites promised an average of about zero - plus five degrees. But a couple of days before departure, the forecasts changed sharply towards colder temperatures:(

Since I always take things to a minimum, I had to guess: what things would definitely be needed, and what would be needed as a last resort. In the end, I regretted not taking a normal headdress. Although I felt quite comfortable in a down jacket with a hood.

Room at the Hotel d'Enghien:

I booked a single room and got a room with a double bed. The hotel is located in the Grands Boulevards area. The room was quiet, with windows facing the courtyard. Here's the view from the window:

One of my fellow travelers had a window facing the street, but she did not complain about the noise. Perhaps simply because the window was closed.

Near the hotel there is this church - Paroisse Saint Eugène Sainte Cécile:

After checking in, we cleaned ourselves up and went for a walk. The bus took us to the Comédie Française:

It's a pity we couldn't rent the building without interference :(

Our path led to the heart of Paris - the Ile de la Cité. View of Saint Chapelle:

And this is a view of Notre Dame:

In 2007, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II donated the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God to the cathedral.

On the left is a gift from the Patriarch.

Unfortunately, I cannot find information about who donated the second icon - this one:

There is a sign nearby, and I even took a photo of it, but unsuccessfully :(

It was cold outside, and we entered the temple without any queue. A lot of people crowded around these figures:

Wonderful exhibition! The figures move. The washerwoman washes, the mill grinds... Of course, the children are delighted!

Notre Dame:

Interior of a Greek cafe in the Rue Saint-Severin area:

Place de la Concorde:

It is very large, and in January it seems deserted.

The Ferris wheel is installed at Christmas, and it also works in January:

Either the Parisians are so “simple”, or they are tourists:

I remember how they told us that the crowd in Russian cities is gray, but in Europe it’s the other way around - people wear bright jackets and coats :) Nothing like that! Both on the streets and in the subway, basically everyone is dressed in “dark”.

View of the Louvre through the Tuileries Garden:

Well, even the colorful jacket got into the frame here :)

We decided to walk forward a little and saw this picture:

Poor seagulls don't understand what happened! The water is frozen :(

I hope they didn't go hungry after all...

View of the Place de la Concorde from the Tuileries Garden.

I liked this house. Frost is frosty, but there are green plants on the balconies:

Not far from the Invalides stands this monument to Marshal Foch:

Eiffel Tower and view of Paris:

Once again I am convinced that I have been to Paris and have not seen many things yet....
