Real-time location of ships, house 2. Terrorist attack: who blew up a tanker and ships in the Kerch Strait (video, photo). How to track a ship on the map

MarineTraffic - what is it?

Marine traffic is a shareware service to track the location of a vessel online. On the world map you can find any ships that are in port or at sea. In the service options you can also track the location of the vessel by its name in real time.
When you select a vessel on the map, a window pops up with information about the vessel online:

  • ship name
  • type of vessel (container, tanker, passenger ship, etc.)
  • ship status
  • ship speed
  • ship course
  • ship's draft

Operating principle of Marine traffic and AIS systems

Nowadays, almost all ships are equipped with an automatic identification system, AIS, which allows you to track the ship and avoid collisions between ships. At what maximum distance can a ship be tracked on a map? It all depends on the height of the antenna located on the ship itself and at the nearest station on land. Conventional AIS stations cover a range of about 40 nautical miles (about 75 km). In some cases, the location of the ship can be tracked at a distance of 200 miles, and this is, not a little, 370 km. But this is the case if the AIS station is located high above sea level, for example on a mountain, and the ship itself is equipped with a good antenna. Thus, anyone can track a vessel online using the Marinetraffic service.

How to track a ship on the map?

If you have the name of a ship, the easiest way to find out the ship's location is to enter it in the map search and the system will immediately show the ship's position and information about it. If you know that the ship has not yet left a certain port or it could not have gone far from it, you can try to find the desired port in the same search form. And then use the familiar mouse actions to point at all the vessels and view information about them. Also, to make your search easier, you can filter ships by type. For example, select only passenger, fishing or cargo ships. The service is intuitive and if you have the skills to use a map, then finding out the location of the vessel in real time will not be difficult for you.

The terrible figures of those who drowned near Kerch were announced from the ships that happened to be at the scene of the tragedy. Some drowned right in front of the sailors who went to help. The water at the disaster site is plus 4 degrees. You won't last long in such water. The incident did not affect maritime traffic, and navigation through the Kerch Strait is still open. The cause of the disaster is currently unknown.

Two cargo ships - tankers Maestro and Kandy (flying the flag of Tanzania) - caught fire today in the Black Sea near the coast of Crimea.

An explosion and then a fire occurred during the transfer of fuel from one vessel to another. According to preliminary data, the Maestro tanker flying the Tanzanian flag was heading to Temryuk, with 14 people on board - citizens of Turkey and India. The second tanker "Kandy" is also under the Tanzanian flag. There were 17 people on board - citizens of Turkey and India. The rescue vessel "Spasatel Demidov" was sent to the site. The vessels that were nearby - "Nasiba Zeynalova", "Istra", "Dmitry Pokrovsky", "VF Tanker - 5", "Sinergy 1" - also arrived on the scene to provide prompt assistance and extract people from the water.

In the Kerch Strait, as a result of a fire on a gas tanker and a ship flying Tanzanian flags, 10 people were killed and 14 were saved, local media write about this. It is not yet clear what caused this fire. But it is all very strange.

“Fourteen sailors were rescued, ten bodies were recovered from the water,” the department’s press service said.

A gas tanker and another ship caught fire in the Kerch Strait. There are victims
According to available information, there were only 31 sailors on two ships, these were citizens of Turkey and India, some of them managed to jump into the open sea when the fire started. About ten ships are involved in the rescue operation. The surviving sailors expressed their readiness to accommodate Crimean hospitals.

According to the agency, according to preliminary information, the fire occurred during the transfer of fuel from board to board. RT on its Telegram channel reports that the fire presumably started due to an explosion. And no one knows where this explosion came from.

Chronology of events

A ship is on fire at the entrance to the Kerch Strait in neutral waters. Almost the entire surface area was engulfed in fire. Eyewitnesses reported this to the editors.

As of 5:40 p.m. Several ships anchored in the roadstead arrived near the scene of the emergency. The tanker is on fire south of Cape Opuk. Nearby are “Nasiba Zeynalova”, “Istra”, “Dmitry Pokrovsky”, “VF Tanker - 5”, “Sinergy 1”. The Rescuer Demidov is approaching them at a speed of 13 knots.

According to information from the watchman of one of the ships, two ships were in the roadstead and were transferring cargo. One of them, presumably, is the Maestro, a gas carrier. An explosion occurred on one ship, causing a nearby moored ship to catch fire. Both ships are now burning. People are saved if they can.

The gas carrier "Maestro" flying the Tanzanian flag almost sank at the entrance to the Kerch Strait. The second Tanzanian-flagged vessel Candy (formerly VENICE) was moored and coupled with cargo hoses to the Maestro and also sank.

The information is also confirmed on the online ship tracking website. The Maestro gas carrier was last detected by sensors and sent a signal more than 5 hours ago.

It was previously reported that both ships sank, but this was a visible decrease in the fire, which the sailors mistook for the ships going under water, but subsequently the fire began to flare up again.

Here is one video of burning ships in the Kerch Strait:

What does England have to do with it?

Since the beginning of 2016, conspiracy theorists around the world have been intensively racking their brains over a video featuring Prince Harry, Elizabeth II and Mr. Obama. Conspiracy theorists were interested in the fact that after the picture with runners numbered 239 and 223

the prince made a hand gesture and said BOOM, which many interpreted as a reference to an explosion.

explosion in a tanker in the Kerch Strait

Thus, by an amazing coincidence, as always, exactly 999 days passed between BOOM 04/17/16 and BOOM 01/21/19.

At the time of the incident, both ships were coupled using cargo hoses, which is apparently why they burned together until dark, after which both ships sank.

As of 21:45, 12 sailors were taken to hospitals with hypothermia and frostbite, 14 people died, 5 are listed as missing.
