How to get from Sabiha Gokcen to Ataturk. How to get from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to the city and the new airport. Ferry from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Istanbul

It happens that you arrive in Istanbul at one international airport (for example, Ataturk Airport), and then your flight is scheduled from another (from Sabiha Gokcen). This often happens when planning further trips to Turkey. Distance between two airports, one of which is located in the European part of the city, and the other in the Asian part, is approximately 70-73 kilometers (depending on the route). Taking into account the constant and terrible traffic jams in Istanbul, the journey between airports can last for several hours, so, knowing this, it is worth protecting yourself from possible problems and making your route easier at the planning stage. Namely: try to buy tickets departing from the same airport.

If, however, during your independent trip, moving from Ataturk to Sabiha (or vice versa) cannot be avoided, then even when purchasing tickets you need to take care that you have enough time for the road. This is a minimum (!) 4-5 hours of pure time. It’s better if you arrive at one airport in the morning and depart from another in the evening, and even better if it’s the next day.

So how do you get between airports?

Method number 1 – taxi. Theoretically, it is the fastest, but with traffic jams in the city and especially on bridges over the Bosphorus (from Europe to Asia and back) during rush hours, its advantage can be reduced to zero. One of the advantages is the undoubted convenience: after all, one type of transport from “door to door”, the disadvantages are the high price (depending on whether you order a transfer between airports in advance or look for a taxi on the spot. In advance, of course, it is more profitable). In addition, it is worth remembering that the price of a taxi from one Istanbul airport in the other it is adequate to the distance between them - this is different ends huge Istanbul and the inevitable crossing of one or another of the bridges from the European to the Asian (or vice versa) part of the city.

You can order a taxi transfer from Ataturk to Sabiha in advance using this form(a large reliable company, an international taxi service at local prices; the cost of the trip is known in advance (no unpleasant surprises!), confirmation is sent to your email, and the driver is waiting at the exit from the arrivals area with a sign with your name on it; payment of the full cost only upon arrival)

Method number 3– public transport with several transfers. This option is more suitable for experienced travelers and those who have already been to Istanbul and are well versed in its public transport system, understand distances and know what to do. And, again, without luggage.

The following options are possible here:

Bus E9 from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Bostancı, then ferry from Bostancı to Bakırköy, from where it is quite easy to take a taxi to Ataturk Airport.

Another option is to take the Havataş shuttle from Sabiha Airport to the KADIKÖY pier, from where you can take a ferry to the Karaköy pier, then take the Light Rail in the direction of Zeitinburnu station + change to Zeitinburnu by metro to the airport. As you can see, this route is difficult for the first time, and you can use it only if you already know Istanbul and are confident in your abilities, and also have enough time and, most importantly, travel without luggage.

Merhaba, arkadaşlar!

I don’t know why, but I’m always a little nervous about an independent transfer from the airport to the city. That is why I always study this issue very carefully.

Today’s post will primarily be of interest to those who are going to Istanbul in the near future, but in any case there will be no dry presentation of material. I got to the hotel with a little adventure, which I’ll tell you about.

Important! In addition to the main transfer option, it is always better to keep a couple more in reserve. You never know what kind of force majeure awaits you. Of course, the easiest way is to order a taxi, but this is the most expensive of all the standard methods, although it is also the most comfortable.

After I, happy, with tickets in hand, went online to figure out the transfer, my enthusiasm dropped to zero. Well, judge for yourself, I’m reading a cheerful report from another traveler: “first you take such and such a bus, get to such and such a stop, transfer to the ferry, then from the ferry station you go to the tram stop and ride the tram to the station you need.” What?!
My plane arrives in Istanbul at 19.00, plus half an hour/hour for various airport hassles and money exchange. It's 20.00. It's getting dark at night. A girl with a suitcase, alone in an unfamiliar city, some ferries, trams. Fuck! The evening ceases to be languid.

Istanbul's districts are scattered on both sides of the Bosphorus. The most interesting, from a tourist point of view, is the Sultanahmet area. Here it is Blue Mosque, Hai Sophia, Topkai Palace, Basilica Cistern and much more.

The map shows that Sabiha Airport (green circle) is much further from Sultanahmet (yellow) than Ataturk Airport (blue). But don’t be too upset, because Ataturk is closed for passenger traffic from March 1, 2019.

I somehow immediately decided for myself that, despite the difficulties with the transfer, I would not exchange Sultanahmet for any other district of Istanbul.

Passport control at Sabiha Gokcen airport was completed quite quickly. Russians do not need a visa to Turkey. They slapped a stamp on my passport and let me go in peace.
While I was waiting for my luggage, I decided to exchange some money. The rate is quite acceptable, but in the Grand Bazaar area it is still better).
The photo was taken in early March; today the lira exchange rate is much more pleasant - 12.28 rubles. And in general, because of the fall national currency, travel to Turkey has become very budget-friendly.

Transfer options from Sabiha Airport:

1. Taxi

The most convenient, fastest, but quite expensive way to transfer to the hotel. I was not interested in the cost of a taxi at Sabiha airport. Taxi drivers are on duty at the gate exit, but we know that their prices are always inflated))

The international KiwiTaxi service quotes prices starting from 2,700 rubles (depending on the exchange rate). Provided that there are 3-4 travelers and taking into account the distance of the trip, it is quite possible to order a taxi.

A child seat will cost 300 rubles. Additional services are indicated when booking. The driver will meet you at the airport with a sign, so you won’t have to run around looking for a car.

You can also look for private transfers on Getyourguide, but I didn’t find anything cheap there from Sabiha Airport. Maybe they'll come to their senses during the season))

2. Minibus or shuttle

Cost about 15 euros. It is better to order the shuttle in advance; it runs once an hour. See point 1. Sometimes a taxi is cheaper or comparable to the cost of the shuttle.

If you want to think through everything while still at home, I recommend using the services of the international transfer company intui.travel. A trip from Sabiha Airport to the Sultanahmet area will cost 1,279 rubles. Don't forget to indicate the current date, number of passengers and pieces of luggage. If desired, you can request the cost of transfer to the hotel.

3. Adventure trip: bus + ferry/metro

My route ideally should have looked like this: I take a bus from the airport to the pier Kadikoy, there I load onto the ferry, make a romantic night crossing to the pier Eminonu, I walk to the hotel, check in and breathe out.

What was the reality?

From Sabiha Airport you can get to the city by Havatas buses or regular city express trains. The difference is in price and speed of movement. On the official website of the airport, Havatas is called a shuttle.

Both have a stop located directly opposite the airport building. I saw the Khavatash bus immediately and rushed to it as if it were family. There are signs on the buses indicating the end point of the route. Watch carefully, Havatash can take you to the square Taksim. From there you can also get to Sultanahmet, but why do you need such an adventure? Look for the sign Kadikoy.

Another plus is that Havatash buses have a luggage compartment. The fare costs 10 liras to Kadikoy and 15 liras to Taksim, you can pay directly on the bus. The first part of the quest has been completed. I relaxed a little, started looking around and found city routes right behind my bus. E10 And E11, which will also easily take you to the Kadikoy pier, but for 4 liras.

You can view the public bus schedule. Here it’s up to you to decide - cheaper, but longer, or more expensive, but faster.

The journey from the airport to the Kadikoy pier took approximately 40 minutes. The bus drove up almost to the pier.
During the journey, I managed to meet a girl and a guy from Voronezh, who came to Istanbul for 2 weeks (!). By a remarkable coincidence, they also needed to go to Sultanahmet. The guys, like me, came to Istanbul for the first time, so we decided to stick together. Russians don't give up!

We found the required pier quite quickly, but it turned out that the nearest ferry would only be there in half an hour.

To be honest, I was looking forward to the ferry ride and was ready to wait. However, the only man in our newly formed company suggested getting to the Sultanahmet area by metro. The young man knew for sure that there was a metro line under the strait. I didn’t prepare for trips on the Istanbul metro in advance, but based on some vague impressions from the reports I read, I remembered that the metro lines in Istanbul do not intersect. That is, you can’t, like in Moscow, pay once for travel and ride all day. Each separate branch is a separate payment.

This is where I had to give up traveling together... Well…. the man said. We quickly figured out the token machine (a machine that sells tokens) in the metro. We navigated the map, waited for the train, arrived at the desired station and... oops. Indeed, you can’t just move from branch to branch. Please pay another 5 lire. In Istanbul, travel on any type of transport costs 5 liras if you do not have an Istanbul card.

I decided to refrain from saying “I told you so!”)). In any case, we got to the desired point on the route, only a little more expensive and crooked. At the metro station Sirkesi We parted, wished each other a great trip and went our separate ways.

I’m right next to the Eminonu pier, so as not to change to the tram, but the guys preferred to live in the center of the historical part of Sultanahmet.
Conclusion: bus + ferry is the most optimal route.

What is the best way to get from Sultanahmet to Sabiha Airport?

It’s strange, but almost all guides to Istanbul advised booking a transfer to return to the airport.

Of course, nothing prevents you from repeating the route exactly the opposite, but in fact, it’s really easier to order a transfer. The service is offered by almost all travel agencies and hotels. Please note the departure time. Istanbul has a serious problem with traffic jams, so it is better to allow plenty of time for the road. I didn’t bother with ferries and buses and simply ordered a transfer from one of the tourist offices. Cost 30 liras or 10 euros.

A minibus will pick you up directly from your hotel. Be prepared for the fact that the transfer is a group transfer and you will be stopping at other hotels for tourists. Travel time is 1-1.5 hours.

This concludes my “technical” post :). Next time I promise to tell you about Istanbul itself, and not beat around the bush.

Despite all the hassles of getting myself to the hotel, I still managed to get a little feel for the city. Eyes snatched unusual faces and clothes from the crowd, Turkish speech was heard everywhere, ferries plied along the strait, and there was a smell of roasted chestnuts. These were my first associations with Istanbul.

Oksana was with you.

It opened its doors to passengers in October 2018. Since April 2019, all flights previously operated from Ataturk Airport (now closed) have been transferred to this airport.

In this regard, many passengers have a question about how to get from Sabiha Gokcen to Istanbul Airport and back. Today (summer 2019) there are 2 ways: taxi and bus. The metro between these two points is under construction as of July 2019.

Istanbul's two key airports are directly connected by bus route. To get from Istanbul Airport to Sabiha Gokcen Airport you need to take a bus. Bus number IST-8. The fare per person is 30 liras.

Payment for the fare is made using Istanbulkart at the entrance. Transport departs according to schedule, 1 time per hour.

The route operates 24 hours a day. Travel time is one and a half hours.

The route map is below:

  • Blue Line – Route – Sabiha Gokcen
  • Red Line – Sabiha Gokcen – Istanbul Airport

At Istanbul Airport, the bus picks up passengers on the -1 floor from the arrivals area and arrives at the departures area at Sabiha Airport.

If you have arrived at Sabiha Gokcen Airport, head to the exit from the arrivals area. The bus picks up passengers not far from the exit and brings them to the entrance to the departure area of the new Istanbul airport.

Stops

There are no intermediate stops along the way from one airport to another.

The final stop of the IST-8 bus when traveling from Istanbul Airport is next to the IDO Pendik pier, but along the way you can get off at railway station Pendik, Tavsantepe metro station.

Taxi

This is the easiest way. Taxis can be found at the exit of any terminal. The parking lot for commercial vehicles is marked with a special sign. There are signs pointing to it throughout the airport.

From the airport, you can take the metrobus only from the stop Ünalan or otherwise Uzuncayir, by bus E10 or E11.

Metro

The Kadıköy Kartal metro line was put into operation on August 17, 2012, and travel time between Kartal and Kadıköy has since been reduced to approximately 32 minutes. The extension of the Kartal-Metro line was completed with Pendik-Tavşantepe stations.

The Marmaray tunnel under the Bosphorus makes it possible to move the Asian part of the city to the European part in just four minutes. From the airport to the metro line you can take bus No. KM 22 to the Kartal or Airylykchesme stop.

Every half hour they run between Taksim and Sabiha Gokcen. The duration of the trip is about one and a half hours, depending on city traffic, the cost of the transfer is 15 TL.

The ferry ride is approximately 20 minutes. Detailed schedule can be found on the information page

All public transport vehicles and taxis are located opposite the terminal building on the arrivals level.

You can also take the Hawabus bus from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Taksim and from Taksim to Ataturk Airport. The entire trip to Ataturk can take around 2 hours depending on traffic. Another route is to take a public bus to Bostanci (E9) and take a ferry to Bakirkoy, and from there Ataturk Airport is very close by taxi.

Another option to get to Ataturk Airport from Sabiha Gokcen Airport is to use the Secure Drive Shuttle service

If it is most convenient for you to get to the airport by transfer, then use the form below. We recommend the company, which is one of the most popular and reliable transfer service providers at the price of a local taxi. You can also see this international company, which operates in 135 countries and 20,000 cities.

Friends, good day!

The airport named after Turkey's first female military pilot Sabiha Gokcen is located in the Asian part of the city, 35 kilometers from the center of Istanbul.

Once modest and unpopular, it is now stealing the show in terms of domestic traffic following the closure of Ataturk Airport.

The new Istanbul airport, about which, is located even further, and is packed to capacity with international passengers. Therefore, it is not surprising that the modest outsider is in great demand and has increased its capacity significantly over the years.

Today you will learn several ways to get from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to the center of Istanbul without any problems or loss of time.

Today, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport operates flights not only from low-cost airlines and local airlines Pegasus Airlines, but even Turkish Airlines does not hesitate to transfer some of its flights here.

In addition to them, flights here are made by:

  • Aegean Airlines
  • Azerbaijan Airlines
  • Flydubai
  • Qatar Airways
  • and all Turkish airlines

A couple of dry data for comprehension:

  • IATA encoding - SAW
  • Name: Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport
  • Address: Sabiha Gökçen Airport Terminal Building Pendik 34912 Istanbul – Turkey .
  • Official website of the airport: sabihagokcen.aero
  • Opening: October 31, 2009
  • Distances: to Istanbul 35 km, to the New Airport 80 km
  • Order a transfer upon arrival

And here it is on the map Google Maps :

Arrivals plan, terminals and shops

The airport is new, clean and very attractive. As usual, you will not have any problems with shopping, cafes, or car rental.

By the way, if you arrive at the airport on your own, then from the airport itself. Although we figured it out ourselves using the signs.

Among the global problems voiced slow check-in . So take this into account when planning your departure and arrival times at the airport.

It has 2 terminals: international and domestic. As usual, the arrivals area is on the 1st floor, and the departures area is on the 2nd.

Here is a diagram of the poisoning hall:

And here is a diagram of the arrival halls. As you can see, everything is simple and without frills.

Inside the building there are all the benefits of humanity: currency exchange, luggage packaging, storage rooms, etc. But Wi-Fi is free only for 2 hours from Turk Telecom. Registration by phone number.

There is a cafe, a pharmacy, counters of mobile network operators and Duty Free the shops. Getting out of the airport after the plane lands takes a minimum amount of time.

There is no need to rack your brains for transit here either. After getting off on the 1st floor upon arrival, you need to go up to the 2nd floor with or without luggage and board either a domestic flight or an international one.

How to get to the center of Istanbul

Transport communication with the center of events in Istanbul is carried out so far only by means of wheeled transport. The Asian metro line should reach here in 2020 M4, which will connect you with the Kadikoy piers.

For now we have 4 options:

  • Taxi
  • transfer
  • Rent a Car
  • Havabus (private) and IETT (public) buses

Now I will reveal the details of the first 3 methods. How to get to Istanbul by public transport we'll talk a little lower.

By taxi

I wrote about relationships with taxi drivers and their prices in an article about.

The estimated cost of travel to key positions in Istanbul is as follows:

  • to the Kadikoy piers - 140 liras
  • to Taksim Square – 160 lire
  • to Sultanahmet Square - 180 lire

The average distance is about 60 km and the time is from 1 hour. The speed of travel will depend on traffic jams and the route chosen by the taxi driver.

To calculate the cost of your trip, it is best to use the website taksiyle.com.

Everything is clear here - simple and clear. And in your head you already have an order of magnitudes that a taxi driver might mention. If something is wrong, then poke his face at the facts that you have all the moves written down!

The problem with taxi drivers is that they speak English poorly (especially Russian) and often do not know addresses.

They will enter something into the GPS, and then I will drive around the area and ask passers-by where this or that hotel is.

Transfer

If the credo "bargain until you win" not your thing, better order transfer. It costs a little more, but it will save you the hassle of dealing with taxi drivers.

And if you have bags and children in your arms, then God himself ordered it. You will be greeted with a sign, in English, or maybe even Russian, brought up to date and taken strictly to the address.

We recently used this ourselves. This is especially true when you arrive at this airport for the first time.

When is your arrival early or evening? I want to eat, sleep, and enjoy Istanbul, and not butt heads with local residents at the airport.

Rent a Car

An excellent solution if you need a car in the future. Read more about our car rental at Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Well, you can repeat it in Turkey or come up with your own.

Large companies store their cars in underground parking. They also have car pickup points there, although the counters are located in the arrivals hall.

Smaller companies do not have their own counters, so the staff will contact you upon arrival and meet you near a noticeable sign. Then you will be taken to a temporary parking lot, where you will receive your car.

Car rental costs from 20 euros per day. Gasoline costs 7 liras per liter, so don’t take a gluttonous fighter, otherwise the money will melt like a snowman in early May.

It may turn out cheaper, or maybe not, but get ready for the fact that your opponent, in addition to Turkish, will at most know a couple of words in English and repeat a suspicious mantra after each sentence "nothing to worry about" .

We're going by bus

In the absence of a metro line (this mess will not be tolerated for long), the city authorities have taken care of a busy bus service between the airport and Istanbul itself.

On routes from the airport to different parts of Istanbul, there are 9 public routes (IETT), 2 private routes (Havbus) and 1 to New Istanbul Airport from Havaist (IST-8).

By the way, maybe someone else remembers, but the Havabus company used to be called Havaş or Havataş .

To fully immerse yourself in the topic, understand the public transport traffic diagram from the article.

And we will quickly go through the routes of these companies and see where to board these vehicles.

Where do the buses stop at the airport?

Upon arrival, you need to leave the terminal and cross the road towards the visible buses and the crowd of passengers there.

Straight ahead and to the left you will see several platform stops for city bus routes. There are also machines hidden there where you can buy and top up.

Directions on these there are buses about the 2nd tariff - 5.20 lira per person.

To the right you will find a stop for the company buses Havabus. Buses of this company depart in two directions: piers Kadikoy and area Taksim.

Ticket prices are 14 and 18 liras respectively. You can pay in cash on the bus or with Istanbulkart at the entrance.

Buses IST-8 that will take you to the passing. But they stop to pick up passengers a little to the right of the buses Havabus in an open parking lot.

IETT city bus routes

If with Havabus And Havaist You won’t have any difficulties, but I see it as a problem to deal with 9 public transport routes.

Of course, it is best to use private buses. It may be more expensive, but it is easier and faster. But if you have specific requests or want something exotic, then let’s take a look at the main routes.

For more information about transport, see. or on the official website of transport in Istanbul iett.istanbul .

Buses run on average from 06:00 to 01:00 every 20-30 minutes. The fare costs 5.20 lira. The main disadvantage is time, since they bow to every pillar at the stops.

  • E-3– takes you to the Levant business district via the 2nd Istanbul Bridge
  • E-9— goes to the ferry piers of Pendik and Bostanci, as well as to the railway. Pendik station
  • E-10— goes to the Kadıköy ferry piers via the railway. Pendik station
  • E-11- goes to the Kadıköy ferry piers, but wanders around like some kind of chigir. But it arrives at the piers in just 1 hour
  • 16S- similar to route E-10, but with big amount stops

Other routes, as tourists, are not interesting to us.

Havabus buses

This is private bus company, which is responsible for providing transfers to Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Here is their official website: havabus.com

On the website you can find where exactly these bus stops are located. After all, if at the airport you see them immediately upon exiting, then in other places you will have to take a closer look.

Schedule and prices

Recently, a route to the M4 metro line station - Yenisahra has also appeared. But I can’t imagine which tourist will need it.

Flights operate from 03:30 am to 01:00 am. The service interval is half an hour, but with me, as they filled up, 2 buses left neck and neck.

The travel time on the website is advertised as 1.5 hours (with a margin for traffic), but usually it is less than an hour.

They only make a couple of official stops on the way from the airport, so “stop me here” won’t fly.

Havabus termini

So, at the airport where you catch the bus, I think it’s clear to you. We left the terminal, crossed 2 roads and buses were in front of your nose, a little to the right.

At the Kadikoy piers, buses have their own parking next to beautiful toilets:

On Google maps it can be found here, a little away from the bus station and closer to the highway:

Buses arriving and departing from Taksim Square are parked in a slightly suspicious area along with buses from the New Airport.

Here's a Google map for reference and a street name to search for. Abdülhak Hamit Caddesi:

How to get from the airport to the center of Istanbul

Since you are now all aware of the matter, who picks up passengers and from where, we will go over the places of power and mass concentrations of tourists.

So that upon arrival at Sabiha Gokcen airport, you do not shout at the family, “Everyone be quiet - Chapay is thinking!”, but clearly indicate with your hand the path to salvation.

By the way, here is a hint from the airport service itself. How to pay for travel on public transport

How to get to the Sultanahmet area

  1. Let's jump on the bus Havabus to Kadikoy Square, and there we change trains. Then either a couple of stops by tram or on foot, depending on your interests. In terms of money: 14+3 = 17 liras per person.
  2. The same thing, but with buses E-10 and E-11. Let me remind you that the E-11 bus is faster, and the E-10 is more colorful. 5.20+3.00=8.20 liras per person.
  3. By bus E-9, E-10 or 16S we get to the railway station. Pendik station. There we jump on and roll to the station Sirkeci. It's a 7-minute walk there and there. 5.20+2.60=7.80 liras per person.

How to get to the New Airport

If you have the honor of moving from one Istanbul airport to another, then you should not give up. It's not all bad.

A Havaist IST-8 bus has been launched especially for you from Pendik and Marmaray stations via Sabiha Gokcen.

Ticket price is 30 liras. Payment only by Istanbulcard.

The bus runs 24 hours a day at intervals of 1 hour. There are no stops along the way, and the route does not pass through the center of Istanbul. You should still allow 1.5 hours for the journey. More information .

Taking into account the travel, waiting and check-in for the flight, I would not risk taking a transfer in less than 4 hours. If this happens, then prepare 75 euros for the transfer.

You will be welcomed at Sabiha Gokcen Airport and will not be released until you arrive at the New Airport.

to the Princes' Islands.

Peace and quiet, nature and lack of traffic. What could be better for relaxation?

How to do it:

  1. Bus E-9 takes you to the piers Bostanci. It will take you 45 minutes.
  2. Take any ferry towards the islands. From here to the islands the sail is at least 2 times closer than from the center of Istanbul

Or I know everything!

Well, I wish you great travels, cheap flights and bright emotions. If you need help in implementing all this, then welcome to the and sections.

p.s. If you are stuck at Sabiha Gokcen Airport for a short time, but want fresh air and emotions, then just 2-3 hours nearby you can go to a big shopping mall Vıaport .

It's a 5 km drive, but only by taxi. In terms of money, no more than 30 liras. If so, here's the map. Good luck!
