Where can I park for free in Riga? (map) (1). General parking rules in Riga Parking in Riga

Is it possible to opt out of Mobilly notifications that come to my phone via SMS?

Yes, you can opt out of notifications with replies and reminders on the Mobilly website by registering with your phone number and password. Changes can be made in the section Profile. You can also turn off SMS with replies and reminders by calling us at 1859*. Before you do so, please review the types of notices we send to customers.

Typically Mobilly sends the following notifications to its customers:

1. notifications with a response that the client always receives - as a response from Mobilly, if payment is started via SMS or if the payment for parking for a certain time set in the application has ended; this message draws the client's attention to the fact that payment has been stopped and reminds that payment must be started again if the client's car is still in the parking lot;

2. reminder notifications, which by default are sent to all customers every 120 minutes to remind them that parking payments are still being processed, which helps avoid overpayment;

3. warning notifications that the client receives if something is done incorrectly or the Mobilly account balance runs out; these SMS are free;

4. notifications with a mandatory response and notifications about transaction transactions, the receipt of which is requested by the owner of the parking lot.

The cost of an SMS with reply, reminder and mandatory reply is 0.11 EUR and this amount is charged from your Mobilly balance.

We advise you not to refuse notifications with reminders. Experience shows that in cases where payments are not stopped on time, one such overpayment is more expensive than the amount spent on reminders.

If you have any questions, call 22001859.

What should I do if I don’t know which Mobilly tariff zone I’m in?

The exact parking tariff zone can be determined on the zone map in the Mobilly application or on the Mobilly website.

If you have any questions, you can always contact Mobilly customer service by calling 1859*.

*Call charges may apply as per your mobile operator depending on your service plan. You can also call +371 22001859.

What is Mobilly tariff zone?

This is the marking of each parking lot that can be paid for using Mobilly.

The letter or letters of a specific tariff zone indicate where your car is located and what tariff will be applied to pay for parking.

If you parked your car at the edge of the roadway in the RP zone of SIA “Rīgas satiksme”, the letter of the tariff zone will be indicated on the side of the parking machine.

If you park your car in a parking lot, you will find two or three letters of the tariff zone on the orange Mobilly sign placed in the parking lot.

Looking ahead, I want to say that I really liked Riga (). There is a desire to come back here again and take a leisurely walk around the Old Town, and when you get tired, sit in a nice cafe, watching the measured life of Latvians. My only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to go to Jurmala. Well, as they say, there is a reason to come back and later supplement the article with impressions about resort town Latvia.

Let's start as usual with parking. If you travel by car, then this information will come in handy. Riga is full of paid parking lots.

The airport is 3 minutes by car. You need to write a letter in advance and reserve a place. They take you to the airport in a minivan and meet you from the airport.

The parking lot is located in a closed area with video cameras. As I understand it, the owners live there, i.e. they have landscaped their own site and rent out parking spaces.

Cost per day 2.5 euros.

Parking address: Kantora iela 124, Mārupe, Mārupes novads, LV-2167, Latvia

I'm happy with the parking lot and will use it if necessary.

Finishing the series of stories about Riga, I would like to show you some details from the city roads. Latvia has fairly law-abiding citizens (or are the fines high?). There is no other way to explain such total observance of the rules. For example, look

Although sometimes you come across such cool things on Lexus

Riga is full of parking payment terminals. Signs notifying this are also located everywhere. Everything is very accessible, simple and clear. The Moscow administration does not need to reinvent the wheel. Let them just go to Riga and be done with it

Everything is very simple and clear

All parking lots in Riga are divided into zones. The price is determined depending on this. You can also pay by phone

The parking machine is the most ordinary. Very easy to use

And closer. One hour in this parking lot in the city center costs 0.8 lats (45 rubles)

The city also has a sufficient number of guarded parking lots under the EuroPark brand. Such parking lots are located near business centers and small office buildings. The cost from 8:00 to 21:00 is about 230-240 rubles. Hourly parking here is not profitable (80 rubles per hour). Payments are also made via automatic machines. No dirty men in shirtfronts and galoshes for you

There are easier and cheaper parking lots. This one is for the locals in residential area. Cost per day - approximately 150 rubles

Of course, Riga is a relatively small city, but they have not yet adopted bicycles here. There are a lot of cars and they need to go somewhere. During my visits to the capital of Latvia, I never saw much less a traffic jam, or even a small congestion. And why? Because where there are two lanes for traffic, cars will drive in two lanes. What about us? On one lane there are parked cars, on the other there is slow traffic with all that it entails. Drivers in Russian cities You can also understand that little is being done for them. But the administration must also get involved somehow. After all, we got out of the situation in some major cities Europe by restricting entry into central areas... After all, you just need to turn on your brain

Other photo stories about Riga and Latvia:

When going to the capital of Latvia, drivers must study the traffic rules in the European country before going on a tourist trip. They are also advised to find out the cost of parking in Riga. The traffic police strictly enforce the rules. The slightest violation will result in severe penalties. Even leaving vehicle for five minutes in the wrong places, you can see that the car is being taken by a tow truck to the impound lot.

Parking rules vary in different areas of the city. The shorter the distance to the center, the higher the price.

Features of parking in the capital of Latvia

The rules for placing cars in parking lots are simple and clear. First of all, you need to find out where parking is in a particular area. How does it work and is there a fee for it?

You can pay for the service in two ways - using payment terminals installed in parking lots, or through mobile app municipal enterprise of the capital Rigas Satiksme.

Parking spots are marked with a “P” sign and are easy to spot. Information about operating hours is also indicated here. Parking lots are divided into certain zones, which directly determine the price for a specific period of time. If drivers need to leave their car in guarded parking lots located near an office building, shopping or entertainment center, then you will have to pay a large amount.

There are signs in front of the signs indicating how the car is allowed to be parked. For example, standing on the side of the road or driving completely onto it.

Reference. By local residents the rules are strictly observed, since the penalties for violating them are impressive. In addition, the amount doubles if the vehicle is sent to a impound lot.

Working hours and penalties

A special sign usually indicates the parking hours. Almost every paid street (municipal) parking is open from 8.00 to 20.00 (on weekdays). On weekends and holidays, opening hours are from 9.00 to 17.00. During other periods of time, cars are parked free of charge. However, this rule does not apply to places located near shopping and entertainment centers.

If the complexes are located in residential areas of the capital, or in its suburban area, places, as a rule, are not paid for (at any time of the day).

Parking lots in the center of Riga are divided into five zones, designated by letters: A, B, C, D, R. The last one is the most expensive. This old district cities. A - municipal, also expensive for drivers. D – located in the distance, therefore one of the most budget-friendly.

Payment for parking is carried out in euros:

  • A – for the first hour 2 euros, for all subsequent hours 3;
  • B – 1.5 euros initially and hourly 2.3;
  • C – 1.3 for the first 60 minutes, for the rest of the time – 1.8 euros each;
  • D – 1 euro for the first hour, 1.2 for subsequent hours.
  • R – 4.27 initially, for the rest of the time – 7.11 each.

Important information! It is more profitable to leave the vehicle for a long period of time near a business center or office building, where payment is made at three euros per 12 hours (from 8.00 to 20.00).

There is no cost to enter Old Riga, although getting around in this area is quite problematic due to the narrow streets. Most of them are one-way. In addition, many other difficulties arise. Capital of Latvia – favorite place tourists. Therefore, there are always a lot of pedestrians in the central part, which causes difficulties with the movement of cars.

Experienced car enthusiasts traveling around Latvia give advice on how to save yourself from unnecessary problems:

  1. The best option is to choose a place to live in close proximity near the parking lot. Then there are no difficulties with parking, and you can get to historical attractions without problems.
  2. Leave your vehicle away from the central part using free parking. And travel around the capital by tram, trolleybus or other public transport. Usually free parking lots are located close to Old Riga. You can reach them on foot in 15-20 minutes.
  3. Leave cars in budget zone D.

Attention! You can save money by using free parking lots located as close to the center as possible. These are the streets that adjoin the Stone Bridge, or the place near the Olympia shopping center. It is quite difficult to park a car on such sites; they are constantly filled. However, if you arrive at 9 am, this is quite possible.

On the right side of the Daugava (where Old Riga is), almost everywhere you need to pay for parking, or you will have to leave the car quite far away and get to the center by public transport.

The only exception is the free parking shown on the map below (check-in through the Statoil gas station) and located three minutes from.

Despite the fact that the parking lot is quite large, during working hours it is packed to capacity. Therefore, you need to arrive before nine in the morning to leave the car. This place is simply ideal to start walking.

1) The only free parking near the Old Town, access from the embankment through Statoil, landmark - the STARGOROD restaurant - we should go there (shhh, just don’t tell anyone about this):

Pay attention to the “quality” of parking for your car - you need to park only in the area covered by the “parking is permitted” sign (there is a green zone with prohibitory signs nearby, although at first glance there is more than enough space), in no case in the green zone, and also under prohibitory signs - the municipal police know about this place and fine it only in this way, fortunately they are not far away.
As mentioned above, finding a place after nine in the morning is extremely difficult here.

At the same time, pakrovka on the left bank is free almost everywhere, so we can recommend the following places:

2) Parking – you can walk to the Old Town in 10-15 minutes across the Cable-stayed Bridge. Plus, you can always find a free space (underground parking), and after a walk you can have a snack and buy groceries in the very mall. If the weather permits, then this is the easiest way to leave the car for the whole day.
Minus - not so long ago a restriction on the time a car could be parked was introduced in the parking lot.

3) Valguma Street, adjacent to the Stone Bridge. The downside is that you’ll have to wander around looking for a free space, and besides, there’s quite a lot of traffic here. The walk to the city will take 5-7 minutes.

(mosmap lat=’56.941761’|lon=’24.093812′)

4) Parking near the Zelta Bowlings bowling center. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the city; in addition, there is a tram and bus stop right opposite the center (no need to cross the street). Entry to the parking lot is free.

5) Parking near the Bellevule Park Hotel. The city center is about 15 minutes on foot, but right next to the hotel there is a tram stop that will take you to the center in three minutes. Entry to the parking lot is free; in addition, we would recommend using it if you need to leave your car not far from the Old Town for several days.

In conclusion, we would like to add that parking in residential areas is free at any time of the day, and there will be no problems with where to leave the car.
