Where and how to go rock climbing and mountaineering in Crimea? Mining school in Crimea with Sergei Kovalev. Sudak Tentative departure plan

Tatyana Gudz

We were very pleased with the program in Crimea. We were able to consolidate the first skills we acquired in Moscow, learn the basics in this area, and apply them in practice. The atmosphere was very good, friendly, comfortable. Everything was not stressful, we went to classes with great pleasure, and we were delighted with our first, albeit small, ascent!!! The views are, of course, stunning. Mutual support and mutual assistance reigned. In general, in Crimea in May it was comfortable in terms of the weather and the number of colleagues who were passionate about this sport. Many thanks to Alexey Korochkov, he explains everything very clearly, gives many useful skills, theories and dilutes them with life stories. So this is not the last time you and I will be in the same company, that’s for sure!

Great weekend

Thank you very much for a pleasant time! I’ll say right away that this trip exceeded all my expectations! To be honest, I still can’t believe that a group of people who didn’t know each other before and didn’t know about mountaineering were able to make a team climb, albeit not a difficult one, on the third day.

It is especially pleasant to remember Igor and Vladimir, who were no longer guides or instructors, but rather just friends. Friends who, even after the end of the program (on the fourth day after lunch, when my friend and I were checked out of the hotel at 12:00) came to study with us additionally, and then invited us to visit and fed us before leaving. And what are the evening gatherings worth, laughingly remembering and analyzing everyone’s mistakes and experiences!

Once again many thanks to the organizers. It was a very emotional and memorable trip, which allowed us to completely forget about everything that remained outside of Sudak for 4 days!

Many thanks to Igor and Volodya for a very well-organized program, a sincere approach to business, and, of course, for excellent company! The program is surprisingly capacious and informative. This is the first step that must be taken.

Mining school in Sudak

Thanks to guides Elena and Sergei Kovalev, Sergei Cherevko for an excellent and useful time. Surprisingly well chosen place, high quality organization of the climbing route and training on the rocks. I would like to separately note the high competence of the guides, who are capable of doing the impossible: bringing such different people to the top. Also thanks to the people who prepared the tracks and the people who financed it. Climbing Sokol will definitely be remembered for a lifetime!!!

Hello! I was in Crimea at the Mining School from September 10 to 13, 2015. Everything was just great. The tour operator's organization was excellent. Special and huge thanks to every guide who worked with us. This is Sergey Cherevko, Elena and Sergey Kovalev. You are just great. I was very glad to meet you and climb Sokol. You are a very professional team. I learned a lot, and I want to continue my education further. Now I evaluate mountains and rocks from a different point of view - approaches, where it is better to start the route, etc. I really hope to meet again with the Adventure Team, and, of course, with you - Sergey, Lena and Sergey!

Lozovik Mikhail

I want to thank you for the trip! Everything went perfectly! Special thanks to the guide - Igor, everything went in a very friendly, partly even family atmosphere. The trip turned out to be quite eventful: we managed to do all the necessary lessons - knots, organizing belays, techniques for moving on rocks, mastered the "grigri", "puck", zhumar, went to the mountain, practiced rappelling, and of course got special pleasure from the shoes :), I took a first aid course, which I would be very unlikely to find time for in normal life in Moscow, and managed to swim in the sea several times, see some sights and taste local wines. It seems to me that I managed to acquire all the basic skills that will be necessary on the Matterhorn. Now it’s no longer so scary to look at photographs of the mountain and you have an understanding of what will happen on it during the ascent and descent. And most importantly, there was a clear desire to continue studying.

I express my deep gratitude to Sergei and Elena Kovalevs for the wonderful opportunity to learn rock climbing skills in April 2015! Everything was organized professionally and at the proper level - from accommodation to instructions and equipment. The weather turned out to be soft and comfortable so as not to “sweat” much during classes and the route, although there were moments). But our small group coped with everyone. It’s quite difficult to convey the sensations of rock climbing in words, just as the sections themselves sometimes seemed difficult, while overcoming them sometimes also had to overcome a psychological barrier, so I’ll express everything in one terse phrase: “Cool!!!” :) Definitely at the first opportunity - like A.S. Pushkin: “...I’ll visit a wonderful island..” - in order to improve the skills already acquired. I look forward to future trips to other climbing destinations with you. Thanks again to Sergei and Lena! Good luck!

Sudak and its surroundings.

Hiking in Crimea, which we have been practicing for many years, has become an integral part of our life. When, just recently, by historical standards, when we were kids, young, bad, healthy, when we were climbing to the fullest, a “pinching feeling of the road” was coming out of all the holes, we tried everything we could, getting carried away by speleo, rock climbing, climbing of all kinds, rafting along the rivers, or simply trampled the path somewhere, just to be there, in the mountains. Because everything was wildly interesting.))

And then, after some time, they chose and went into their own, which they liked best. Some are mountaineers, some are speleologists, and some are rock climbers, practicing their chosen lifestyle more professionally.

Hobbies? Yes! And what other ones! After all, these are mountains, tra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta.))

My chosen path came consciously, with an understanding of what was happening. In the mountains, everyone finds something of their own, something that suits their soul and heart. People often ask me: Oleg, what did you forget there, why are you there all the time? To which he always answered: “You go, and then you will understand everything yourself.”

I have been hiking in the Crimean mountains for quite some time. The goal and task is to introduce novice tourists to the world of the planet, to the living world of the earth. So to speak, NTP is initial technical training. And you know, it seems to be working out.)) If a participant in the Crimean hike, who completed the route the first time, comes to the next one, and then again and again, then my task is completed. What else is needed.) And the most interesting thing is that, having gained experience in hiking, an already advanced user of forests and mountains begins to be interested in other types of active recreation, that is, he wants something more extreme. And this is a normal phenomenon in tourism as such.

So, in Sudak, in the south-east of Crimea, where there are mountains, rocks and the sea, my friends live - professional rescuers, rock climbers of all stripes, confident trainers and guides.

This article is a proposal, written at the request of my friends, rock climbing coaches, who are passionate and know their job and live by it.

Plan for beginner rock climbers, training program:

General provisions:

  • Basic skills and technique for beginning rock climbers.
  • Mountaineering basics for beginners.
  • Venue - Palvani-Oba (popularly Bolvan) and Mount Sokol - ascent along routes 1-2 c.s. (beginners), 3-4 k.s. (average level).

Now by day:

1 day.

  • Safety instructions on rocks, introduction to climbing equipment.
  • Practical training at a natural climbing wall: first belay skills - training, tying knots, practicing self-belaying and belaying on rocks.
  • Rolling up equipment, collecting and preparing for the next stage.

Day 2.

Palwani-Oba massif – training on the rocks of the mountain:

  • Individual climbing.
  • Familiarization with the technique of moving on rocks.
  • Working in conjunction.
  • Rolling up equipment, collecting and preparing for the ascent to Mt. Sokol.

Day 3.

Mount Sokol, first ascent with an instructor, in combinations:

  • Early rise.
  • The route is 1-2 categories of difficulty.
  • Accompaniment by a professional instructor.
  • Winding down, collecting gear and preparing for the next climb.

Day 4

A more difficult climb of the 2nd category of difficulty on Mount Sokol, accompanied by an instructor.

This is the real action plan for beginner rock climbers.

Conditions for the Crimean climbing tour:

  • Cost - 9000 rub. from one person for group training (from four people). If it is an individual, it will be discussed separately.
  • Number of days – 4

What is included:

  • Accommodation at a camp site (two-room apartment, shower, light, wi-fi, etc.)
  • Registration in KSS (control and rescue service of Crimea)
  • All equipment - harnesses, ropes, carabiners, etc.

What is not included in the price:

  • Food (there is a store nearby, the camp site has a kitchen and dining room, refrigerator, pots, etc.)
  • The road to Sudak, if only arriving for classes.
  • Personal equipment (gloves, shoes, clothes, etc. (we will tell you and suggest what you need).

Come and try it! Rock climbing in Crimea is quite an interesting and exciting activity. From the first category of complexity to the seventh. The Palvani-Oba rock massif has routes from 1 class to 6 class. Mount Sokol - up to the fifth category of difficulty. In the New World, not far from Sudak, there is the Golitsynsky grotto, where the seventh category of difficulty is practiced on negative angles and rocky plumbs. There are many opportunities, and all in one place, locally - in Sudak.

Convenient accommodation positions for rock climbers, short approaches to rock routes, beautiful views from the peaks, shops, close sea, transport interchanges, etc., contribute to a wonderful time in the south-east of Crimea.

Our two hiking routes in Crimea - From goblin to hares and Cimmerian distances - finish in Sudak, at a small camp site - a quiet and cozy place where there is everything necessary for life - hot water, light, wi-fi, etc. The main purpose of the camp site is rock climbing. Close to the sea and various climbing walls. Where professional instructors live, who, if you want, will introduce you to another interesting area of active recreation - “Rock climbing in Crimea”.

The idea is this:

We finish, and whoever wants to, having discussed in advance what is necessary, in the application for a hike in the Crimea, and planning a further stay in the midday region, makes a note - Rock climbing in the Crimea. You can do this on a hike by contacting an instructor, thinking through and calculating what is necessary. Or simply, if you are interested in rock climbing in the wildlife of Crimea, please report it in a letter to our website, and we will put you in touch with the necessary contacts with rock climbing instructors from Sudak.

All the best to everyone!

Best regards, Oleg, hiking instructor-methodologist.

Today in Crimea there are tours for beginners and pros in climbing. This word came into our language and firmly established itself in it: climbing translated from English means rock climbing. But since our domestic athletes often perform on the international climbing stage, they are accustomed to using international terms. These same athletes organize climbing tours in Crimea. The price includes full support, equipment, and instructions. Under the guidance of such guides, the first steps on the rocks are not at all scary!

What rocks are most popular in Crimea? Almost everything, because the fantasy of an extreme sportsman knows no bounds! But there are also official routes approved at the level of the local Ministry of Tourism. A striking example is Via Ferrata, near Simferopol. This is an excellent place to train beginners and adjust the skills of those who no longer consider themselves beginners.

What do you need to know when booking climbing tours?

It is known that mountains, like rocks, do not like weaklings. So make sure you really want to gain climbing skills. And also find yourself an experienced guide - in our catalog all tours are exclusively from professionals!

The tour program turned out to be much more intense and physically challenging than I expected. This is a real sporting event, and I'm glad I stuck it out! I liked it all very much! Thank you!

More. Guys, I didn’t forget about the photos. I’m already writing to disks.

In a nutshell, everything was great! I thought for a very long time whether to go or not. The weather in the city was snowless and warm. I thought there would be no winter activities. But when Uncle Vova and I saw the cold couloir from the highway, all questions and doubts disappeared. The smile did not leave my ears for a long time. This tour is very good for beginners who want to get acquainted with mountaineering. Everything is thoughtful, interesting, and informative. The place for classes is convenient and accessible. The accommodation is quite comfortable. And what else is needed for a person who has been on hikes. Hot porridge, tea and fifty grams of combat weapons and a roof over your head. 

I go hiking with various tour operators and I can objectively say that the Tropa Club offers the most interesting routes. I really liked the instructors, interesting people and professionals in their field. For me, the most important thing in a hike is trust in the instructor, here it is 100 percent.

It is unlikely that I will become a climber, but the fact that such a “vacation” is interesting and exciting for me is certain. I liked the instructors - Andrey and Vladimir. Bringing a group together in a couple of days is a difficult task, but they did it. I liked the organization of living conditions. Coming back in the evening to a warm room with a warm shower is something. It is unlikely that I will find a reason for criticism. The cold couloir turned out to be not so scary, the MAN cave was not as banal as I thought. Working on the last day with the wind made me think. Thanks for your work. See you!

I wanted to try my hand at mountaineering with this tour to decide whether to pursue this activity or not (before that I was involved in sports tourism as a child) and decided that I would (: . The weather, of course, let us down, there was practically no snow, but the program was slightly adjusted, so I didn’t have to get bored Of course, I would like more theory, such as: moving in a group and in a team, “man and cold,” “man and acclimatization,” etc.

Hello everyone. This kind of experience is new to me. It was my first time climbing mountains using climbing equipment. I’m planning to go to Elbrus this year, I have no climbing experience, I was advised to at least take this tour. I wanted to understand whether I needed it or not. I don’t know about anyone, but this tour was very easy for me and I really liked it. Pros: good base. Although I now live in Kyiv, believe me as a person who knows Crimea well (well, I lived there for 15 years): in the vicinity of Demerdzhi, at the moment it is almost impossible to find a better base. Hot water, heating and food are provided. The correct skill of walking in problem areas, as well as rappelling and climbing on a jumar, was instilled in him, which is very useful. From wishes: I would like more theoretical knowledge. We walked through the Alps. equipment, but for myself personally it would be good to learn how to independently knit knots (at least basic ones), how to properly organize stations, and so on. Many thanks to the organizers.

I really enjoyed the tour, especially the last days, which were close to real winter mountain days. The descent, and especially the ascent from the Bezdonka cave, gave additional adrenaline for at least 0.5 years - like a feeling of life suspended

It's no secret that the Crimean peninsula is a kind of climbing mecca, where you will find a huge number of routes for every taste. The rocks of Crimea are also famous among climbers. The variety and complexity of the routes, when accessible, allow for excellent training before going to big mountains or, if your level allows, performing in a rock class.
