What to do if your flight is canceled

If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The costs are borne by the carrier; the service is free for the passenger. If you are not satisfied with any of the options offered by the airline, most airlines can issue an “involuntary return.” Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

How to check in at the airport

Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

To check in at the airport you will need:

    • identification document specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when flying with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt (optional).
  • What can you take on a plane?

Carry-on baggage is the items you will take with you onto the plane. The weight limit for hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free stores can only be transported in sealed bags.

How to pay for luggage at the airport

If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can obtain one at the airline's regular check-in counter, and check-in and check-in your luggage there.

Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

You can find out the plane's arrival time on the airport's online board. The Tutu.ru website has an online display of the main Russian and foreign airports.

You can find out the exit number (gate) on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the incoming flight information.

Izhevsk Airport is located 12 kilometers from the capital of the Udmurt Republic, the city of Izhevsk, and is a regional air transport hub capable of serving only domestic flights.

Story

Pirogovo is considered the first Izhevsk airfield. It was built in 1934 near the village. Postal and passenger flights and cargo transportation were carried out from the airfield.

In the fall of 1943, a military airfield with a concrete runway was built, which was used as a transit airfield during World War II. In 1944, the head of the Main Directorate of the Civil Air Fleet issued an order to organize the airport. A runway (1000x54 m) and several service structures were built. Today this place is where Molodezhnaya Street passes. In 1951, the AMSG was organized.

Today's airport opened in 1974. The location of the old airfield was built up with residential neighborhoods. Izhevsk could accommodate modern aircraft of that time - Tu-134, Yak-42, An-24, An-26.

In 1996, a decision was made to build an international terminal. But due to a sharp drop in passenger traffic and the economic crisis, the terminal has not yet been completed. In the future, it is still planned to complete its construction and additionally create an international transport logistics complex.

In August 2011, RusLine began operating flights from Moscow to Izhevsk and back. Tickets are sold in the standard way and via the Internet.

Initially, it was expected that the new air carrier would be able to seriously compete with the monopolist Izhavia. In October, Rusline stopped flying to Izhevsk, but resumed its operations in May 2013.

Since April 2013, according to the program for the development of passenger transportation in the Volga Federal District, Dexter air taxi flights have been operated from Izhevsk to Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov.

In 2012, thanks to the financial support of the Udmurt Republic in the amount of 164 million rubles, Izhavia Airlines, as the owner of the airport, overhauled the building of the first terminal, installed a visualization system, purchased an apron bus, de-icing equipment and introscopes. In addition, an underground road and perimeter fencing were built.

According to data for 2013, Izhevsk airport served more than 200 thousand passengers, and this year it is planned to increase this figure by another 25 thousand people.

Runways of Izhevsk airport

Izhevsk Airport has one runway with a length of 2500 meters and a width of 45 meters, which allows you to receive and dispatch from the airport all types of helicopters, as well as aircraft like An-72, An-74, Tu-134 , Bombardier CRJ 100/200 and other, lighter aircraft.

Reinforced concrete is used as a covering for the runway.

Incidents

In January 1984, an An-24RV aircraft en route from Kuibyshev (Samara) to Izhevsk experienced a complete elevator failure before starting its descent. During the first approach, the plane began to sway and began to raise its nose in front of the landing strip, which is why they decided to go around. On the second approach, the plane fell onto the runway with its right wing and broke up. There were 45 people on board - 4 were killed, 35 were injured.

Izhevsk Airport schedule:

A sad picture appears before my eyes as soon as I begin to remember the Izhevsk airport. I got the impression: the simpler the air harbor, the more expensive its services are...

Arriving at the airport, I peered out the window for a long time, not understanding, what is this? Of course, I pictured a simple building in my head, but not to that extent. Once inside, I realized that things weren’t so bad outside. Really an ancient vegetable base, not an airport. I really hope that soon the air terminal will be lucky and undergo a major overhaul.

The easiest way to get from the airport to the city center is by taxi, since there is no direct bus. You can only go with transfers to a stop called “Rembyttekhnika”.

Naturally, it makes no sense to talk about any comfort. The airport has:

  • three shops;
  • waiting room with soft seats;
  • paid parking.

Due to the lack of people in the corridors, there is an echo in the halls!

What I really liked was the convenient location of the Izhavia hotel. Just a 5-minute walk and I’m at the airport. I got into it by accident, due to a rescheduled flight. Nothing special, an old-style hotel and no breakfast. But it was cheaper to spend the night than to ride 26 km back and forth around the city.
