The sports complex amazes guests with its scale. The total area of ​​the building is 70,000 square meters.

There are three ice arenas under one roof:

• large arena;

In addition to three arenas, the layout of the VTB Ice Palace hall includes the following leisure and entertainment facilities:

Arena capacity

The three grounds of the palace can accommodate more than 16,000 spectators at a time.

The total capacity of the three arenas of the VTB Ice Palace is 16,500 seats. Moreover, two of them can be transformed into venues for concerts, shows, and competitions in various sports within 12 hours, increasing the number of seats.

1. The large arena has a capacity of 12,500 seats, after the transformation their number increases to 14,000.
2. The small arena of the VTB Palace can accommodate 3,500 spectators, and with the installation of a non-slip coating - 5,000.

The sports complex is designed in such a way that events can take place simultaneously in all arenas without interfering with each other.

Visitor areas

The main purpose of the Ice Palace is sports in all its forms, but special attention is paid to visitors. The entire complex is focused on creating comfort and convenience for those who come to events, concerts, museum visits, and competitions.

Main areas intended for visitors:

1. Parking. The VTB Ice Palace has significant parking resources. Guests, visitors, as well as employees of the sports complex have the opportunity to securely and conveniently place their vehicle. At the same time, the administration of the complex ensures uninterrupted operation of security, video recording and fire extinguishing.
2. Children's room. Visitors who come with small children can leave them in a specially equipped room. Children will be greeted by professional animators, interactive games, and bright toys. The room starts working 1.5 hours before the start of the event, and ends an hour after.
3. Nutrition. There are a huge number of fast-food outlets, cafes, and restaurants on the territory of the sports complex. Each visitor will find food to suit his taste and budget.

VIP boxes

Those who prefer comfort, privacy and a high level of service are provided with VIP boxes. These places are rightfully considered the best in the entire VTB Ice Palace for a number of good reasons:

The reconstruction of the Dynamo stadium is one of the largest projects in the north of Moscow. Back in 1928, when the stadium was built, this area was essentially a suburb. And now it is considered quite a center.

"VTB Arena Park" is a project for the integrated development of the territory, including the construction of a multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex (VTB Arena and the Dynamo Central Stadium), the Dynamo Sports Academy, the Arena Park city block, as well as a sports park "Dynamo". The area of ​​the project being implemented is about 32 hectares.

On the day of shooting, the weather was completely unflyable for the drone, and the scale of construction of such an object is difficult to assess from the ground. So a couple of days later, when the sun came out, I returned to the stadium and filmed it from the air.

As I already said, the stadium was built in 1928 and since then it has been completed several times and reconstructed twice. The stadium underwent a major reconstruction on the eve of the 1980 Olympics, the last one before its closure on the eve of the World Youth Games in 1998. Today Dynamo is experiencing the largest reconstruction in its history, the scale and tasks this time are much more serious and impressive.

And if in past reconstructions they cared little about preserving the historical heritage (in the process of studying the former structures of the stands, new constructions and traces of reconstruction of structures were constantly found), now the task is to preserve the historical western wall of the stadium, which has had the status of an architectural monument since 1987. Also, special attention will be paid to the restoration of the bas-reliefs of the outstanding Soviet sculptor Sergei Merkurov, which adorned the northern and southern porticos of the stands for more than 80 years.

The remaining facades will be restored based on the results of measurements and a comprehensive study.

Now let's go to the facility and see what's happening there.

1. The last match at the stadium was played in November 2008, at which time the dismantling of concrete structures began. VTB entered the project only in 2010. At first there was a very long period of approvals, transfer of communications, dismantling of the stadium and its foundation.

2. The project is the winner of a large number of different prestigious awards in different categories.

3. It was initially assumed that the new Dynamo stadium would be included in the bid book for hosting matches of the 2018 World Cup, but this did not happen, and its capacity was reduced from the planned 45 to the final 27 thousand spectators. The project was integrated into the contours of the old stadium, the geographical orientation of the field remained the same. The exclusion of the stadium from the bid book, according to project representatives, made it possible to “compress” the shape of the arena, making it more compact and comfortable. Although there is some disappointment that the oldest existing stadium will not host World Cup matches.

4. The most important change is that previously there was only a football stadium within the perimeter walls. And now a multifunctional arena, a commercial level (shops, etc.), the Dynamo Museum, underground parking and much more will be added to it. Thus, the complex will meet all the most modern requirements.

5. The football field itself is now raised 8 meters above the ground. Previously, it was “recessed” by about half a meter.

6. Work is now being carried out around the clock.

7. Active construction work on the sports part of the project began in July 2014.

8. The preserved western stand and former commentary booths.

9. Load-bearing structures will be strengthened, the stand will become part of the complex. The western façade will become the main entrance to the arena.

10. The total capacity of the football stadium will be 26,319 seats, and the capacity of the multi-purpose arena will be from 11,500 to 14,000, depending on the configuration - hockey, basketball or concert.

11. A giant screen will be placed on the western facade facing Leningradsky Prospekt.

12. The roof itself will be made of special materials (polycarbonate) that transmit light. In addition, LED strips will be built into it, which at night will allow the dome to be used as a media facade of a huge area.

The Michael Jackson concert, given as part of the HIStory world tour and held on September 17 of the same year, became the largest event in the history of the stadium: 71 thousand spectators were seated in the stadium bowl.

In Russia, stadiums are one of the main long-term construction projects. Compared to other arenas, Dynamo is not the worst option. The old stadium in Petrovsky Park closed for reconstruction almost exactly 9 years ago. Since then, the reconstruction format, the developer, and the project itself have changed. The planned capacity was either increased for the 2018 World Cup or reduced when the arena was not included in FIFA's final bid.

In general, a lot was happening around the construction site, so the very news that it is nearing completion cannot but rejoice. Since the start of active work at the arena, a specific opening date has been announced year after year - October 22, 2017, Lev Yashin’s birthday. Even this year, no one has officially renounced it. Dynamo's opponents in the opening match were matched with one European giant, then another.

As a result, we limited ourselves to a rather intimate event (safety standards do not allow more - this is still an active sports ground) event, which can appropriately be called the presentation of the bowl of the new stadium. The readiness there is such that, if desired, one could play a match. Tribunes with chairs, lawn, goals - everything is in place. The only mandatory attributes missing are a scoreboard and benches.

However, the VTB Arena Park complex is not only a football stadium, but also a small sports arena, where hockey Dynamo and basketball CSKA will play, and a shopping and entertainment center. Everything must be submitted at once, so you will have to wait. And the finishing of the facades and dome still needs to be done.

In general, the current deadlines are as follows: in April 2018 - commissioning of the facility and the first test events, both for the anniversary of the Dynamo society and non-sports, in June - the first official match with the participation of the Russian national team, in July - moving here Moscow Dynamo. On June 5, the national team can play here with Italy - if the squadra makes it to the World Cup. And this will be the team’s last match before the home World Cup. - We have not gone beyond the standards for this level of stadiums: the cost of one seat in a football arena is within 5 thousand euros and 10 thousand euros for a seat in a universal sports complex. Plus we also have a shopping and entertainment center, which should also be completed in the spring. This is all one stage of construction, so the entire complex should be completed in the spring, so that next season not only football Dynamo, but also hockey and basketball CSKA will play here.

- Is the capacity of 26,700 spectators sufficient for such a stadium?
- This is much more than the average attendance of the RFPL. We hope that the arena will be well filled and that the World Cup will give impetus to the growth of spectator interest. As does the factor of a new stadium for fans.

Veterans of the club, current players and students of the club’s academy took part in the ceremonial events at Dynamo. The symbolic first blow to the ball in the new arena was struck three times: first by the veteran Valery Urin, the last of those who played with Yashin, then Dynamo's top scorer in recent seasons, and then 11 young players from the blue and white school.

Panchenko conceded the right to strike the first blow. Everyone was afraid for Kirill’s leg, because he had only recently undergone surgery on the crosses. But the forward assured: everything is fine.

It wasn’t difficult for me, my leg doesn’t hurt, everything is fine. It is very honorable to be the first to strike on such a day and at such a legendary stadium. Today is Lev Yashin's birthday, and this is a special day. Yashin is a true legend. There were questions about who to beat - me or Anton Shunin. But Anton is our goalkeeper, it’s somehow wrong for him to shoot into his own goal. And my job is to score goals. That's why I hit, Anton gave in to me.

That evening Shunin probably took about a hundred selfies with all the guests of the ceremony. Fans, veterans, journalists - everyone wanted to express their admiration for yesterday's crazy saves in the match with Rubin. Yashin would be pleased with his successor. By the way, Shunin is the only one in Dynamo who remembers the last match at the old stadium in 2008.

Then, of course, I didn’t expect that everything would drag on for almost 10 years,” the Dynamo captain told the Championship. “But now we don’t have long to wait.” Everything is almost ready - I would be ready to play here. I just want to go see the locker rooms (laughs). Well, we'll wait until next year to start playing here. My father is a long-time Dynamo fan, he will be happy to come here next season and see me, hopefully, play in the new stadium. It will be a special moment for me.

Well, the opening match on Yashin’s birthday did not take place. But there is no doubt that the greatest and most humble goalkeeper in the history of football would not be at all upset that the games in the new arena will start on another day. After all, the upcoming 95th anniversary of Dynamo and the 90th anniversary of the stadium in 2018 are also beautiful dates.

"DYNAMO" STANDS ON A HUGE HISTORICAL PLATFORM

The Dynamo project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe,” Peregudov said. - Investments in the project are one and a half billion dollars. An ensemble is being created in the city, which includes the restoration of the stadium and a whole complex of facilities. The basketball arena will accommodate almost thirteen thousand spectators, the hockey arena - over eleven thousand, and the football arena - about twenty-seven thousand. We agreed with the widow of Lev Yashin, Valentina Timofeevna, that the central stadium "Dynamo" will bear the name. And the hockey arena will bear the name. The Academy of Sports will operate over ten Dynamo children's and youth sections and schools - in particular, in hockey, gymnastics, and martial arts.

- What youth facilities will function?

A huge number of applications for arenas from eSports. The park will have open areas. We agree on a three-on-three basketball game. Well, other areas for young people will appear - for example, rock climbing.

Many sports arenas around the world are trying to find their own historical background, basis, legend. We don’t even need to look for all this - Dynamo stands on a huge historical platform, which we just need to talk about more often.

- Athletes and fans of the Dynamo society, as well as all interested people will be able to take part in a competition for the names of three streets designed as part of a comprehensive reconstruction of the stadium and the surrounding area. Tell us more about this.

Anyone can send their ideas and options under the competition post on social networks. The competition will be held in several stages. The first will last until the twenty-second of May. The expert commission will select ten options for each of the three streets to submit them to the State Interdepartmental Naming Commission. She will shortlist nine options, three for each street. From the nineteenth to the thirty-first of August, a final vote will be held to select the three titles. The results of the competition will be announced on September 9, when Moscow celebrates City Day. And the winners will be invited to test events on October 22, dedicated to Lev Yashin’s birthday, and to the official opening of the sports complex, which is scheduled for the summer of 2018.

- Will only the names of famous football players be considered in the competition for street names? Can athletes from other sports be offered?

Not just football players. The Dynamo Stadium was, after all, a territory where all sports were united. Petrovsky Park existed long before the stadium. Pushkin stayed there. During the time of Catherine the Great, the Travel Palace was erected in the park. Many historical events took place in the Dynamo area. Therefore, you shouldn’t even limit yourself to sports. This is the center where the core of the intelligentsia lived. If there are many worthy applicants, it will be possible to think about renaming, for example, Prudovaya and Petrovsko-Razumovskaya alleys.

- Will VTB Arena Park offer its own options?

We are extending the competition to our employees. I hope an original name will come to my mind too. The essence of the competition is to return our understanding of the place where we live to the mainstream - my yard, rooting for our own. This should become a place of attraction for the entire region, and not just Dynamo.

- Are you planning to make an alley with busts of famous Dynamo players?

The project has a walk of fame. This is the former Fountain Alley. They wanted to hold another competition, based on the results of which we would make twelve to fifteen sculptures.

CONSTRUCTION OF NEW ARENA INCREASES ATTENDANCE

- Will the opening of the VTB Arena - Central Dynamo Stadium complex take place in the summer of 2018?

We don’t want to get caught, so we’ll hold this event after it. There, after all, all the attention will be on the World Cup, and if you do it earlier, then at that time the city and other services will be preparing for the tournament.

- So it will be in July-August?

Yes. This refers to the opening event of the entire complex. This will be a festival with a serious event inside. And the football stadium itself will be opened in the spring.

- But when the guests come to the World Cup, it would probably be easier to do this.

We thought about it, but during the World Cup there are very strict regulations. I was thinking about some football stars. But if they don’t play for the national team, then they won’t come to the championship. Club players have a number of restrictions. Therefore, we will have our own event, and no less representative.

- Will the new stadium be used as a training ground for some national team?

Yes. We, Moskomsport and the Organizing Committee constantly participate in meetings on training bases.

We are working on it. There are no options yet. We will be glad to see any team.

- What is the current state of Dynamo?

I can't comment on this now. But Dynamo returned to Russia, and this is very important. Now we must prepare for the new season and think about what kind of lineup we will play there. But issues of selection and the like are not the subject of discussion of this council. We are discussing issues related to finding new sponsors. I think it is important to discuss raising the prestige of the letter “D”, Dynamo society in general and the club in particular. We've been a little lost lately. The opening of the new stadium will breathe life into this matter, and we will move forward together. The construction of a new arena adds seventy to one hundred and fifty percent of attendance. I hope the number of fans in the new stadium will be representative and all seats will always be filled.

WE ARE DEVELOPING A SPECIAL OPTION FOR RENTING A STADIUM

- I just recently played my first match at my new arena. How did you react to the news around the stadium in St. Petersburg?

I can only express regret that the builders of the St. Petersburg arena encountered such difficulties. I think the main problem is the number of construction teams they have changed. I don’t want to comment on their situation, but I know that if you constantly change the developer and contractor, the cost will only increase.

- But they changed for you too.

Yes, but there the project began with one architect and ended with another. It was clear that the project had no owner. We wish Zenit to build up normally and start playing in this arena. I'm sure the grass will be restored. It's not such a big problem. If we talk about grass, we have provided a rolled lawn because it takes root faster and can be quickly restored after damage, for example, as a result of a concert. We include this in the operating budget because we want to host more than just football events. A very good place in the center of Moscow.

- How is the interaction with the FC on the use of the future stadium going?

Very good. We've made major breakthroughs in the last couple of weeks. This coincided with the fact that the club left the FNL for the RFPL. We have already begun to have a practical conversation about the commercial conditions for using the arena. This is not about any rent that the football club will pay to the stadium, but about sharing and co-earnings for the football club when using the stadium. We are developing a zero lease option when the club plays at home. We are confident that the team will attract fans. People will go and root for Dynamo at their home stadium.

- Tell us about the cleanup event that took place the day before, in which employees of VTB Arena Park took part. What kind of event is this?

The event is traditional. As usual, we hold it in mid-April. And although we were a little unlucky with the weather this time, everyone was in an excellent mood! And the theme of the cleanup was the decoration of Petrovsky Park. This raised the spirit of the guys who work on our project. We are not just creating a city block on thirty-two hectares, we want to create a new lifestyle that will be imbued with activity, sports and love. This will transform all residents of our area into a new society that will communicate with each other and treat each other better. At first, we held such events in different parts of the park, planted trees, lilacs, and moved the monument to Yashin. And now it’s time to decorate already built objects. Soon we will open a new office of the Dynamo society, as well as the Hyatt Regency Petrovsky Park hotel, and we decided to decorate the adjacent territory of the park and plant flower beds. In general, everything that our landscape designers considered possible.

- Will there be more options for places to hold the traditional cleanup next year?

Indeed, there will be a huge choice, because around this time we will be opening our stadium, and it would be logical to hold such an event in close proximity to it. Moreover, some of the construction sites will be dismantled, and the vacant places will need to be improved or turned into sports grounds. We want to restore historical justice and rebuild the park so that it also has a sports component.
