"Valery Bryusov" sailed away. Motor ship "Valery Bryusov": history, photos, modern realities

Walking along the Crimean embankment and the Muzeon art park, I always looked at the ship “Valery Bryusov” and thought what they would come up with, a restaurant? a hotel? or abandon it altogether, but no, they opened it and there is a lot, a lot of things there, admission is free! When we walked in, it immediately reminded me of something, either the Artplay space on Kurskaya, or the Flacon design factory. It turned out that the project was actually developed by the team of the Flacon factory and the creative workshop “the Dreamers United”. From where I managed to look while my daughter was running around the deck, this is a mini-theater for children under 7 years old “Just a Joke”, they invite you to the performance every Sunday at 10-30, 11-30 and 12-40 “The Story of Nothing” "(cabin 202), language laboratory "MyPeople" for any age, Mams&Paps Art Coffee House with interesting design and drinks for children and adults. They also host concerts and watch movies there. There are designer clothing stores, an atelier, an art gallery... We ran through the cabins almost at a gallop, stopped only in the children's theater - a bright room, bright and beautiful, friendly staff, they told us about the performance, they invited us. And in the Greek cafe “Sito” we pleased with a real Greek salad and “penerli”, or, as we can call them, “boats with meat and cheese”, they are baked before our eyes! The prices are quite affordable - coffee, for example, 100 rubles. In general, those who love olives, oil and Greek sauce can come in. The uppermost deck is open, there is a transparent awning, there is a stage for various events. Wood and metal look great, the views of Moscow are stunning! A beautiful and functional place where you can dress up, eat and drink, watch a movie, learn something and dance. And all this in the fresh air and on the water! Half of the cabins are still in the opening stage, but it’s worth a look.

Latest news from Crimean embankment. The ship, moored at the Muzeon art park, will soon be sent to the most distant backwater of the capital. And we are not talking about the ship on which Peter the Great stands. And about the one who is white and pointed-nosed. With cabins. Decks. And the Russian flag. Tourists willingly take selfies against its background. And Muscovites too. Someone goes inside to get something to eat. Or look for some new things. Because there are even shops and cafes on board the non-self-propelled vessel. He was brought to the center of Moscow in 1993 from Austria. At that time, “Bryusov” was not only a restaurant, but also a hotel.

And in recent years, a whole art object has been made from it! The guys from the team of the Flacon design plant came to Muzeon, on whose territory the ship is located, and asked to give them several decks and cabins. Well, to hold various events there. Yoga and choreography classes. Film screenings. Lectures. Discos. Exhibitions. In general, create a cultural center inside this bandura. Muzeon said that they are not against it, but the owner of the ship is the Moscow Tourist Fleet. The guys applied there and soon, having paid a certain amount for rent, received permission. The activists do not admit how much they paid. They say it's a trade secret. Two years have passed since then. And only now it became clear that “the vessel operates in the format of an art center on the water and is operated without a water use agreement.” This is stated in the official statement of the Moscow prosecutor's office.

SEVEN CARING PEOPLE

In general, it turned out that “Valery Bryusov”, despite his big name, does not have the right to stand on the Crimean embankment. Why such a check was carried out only now is anyone's guess.

In addition, the owner will have to pay a fine of 50 thousand rubles to the state treasury, the supervisory department added to KP. - And another 10 thousand will be paid personally by the general director of Mosturflot.

Yes, indeed, the prosecutor’s office is closing “Bryusov,” one of the art ship activists confirmed. - But we do not intend to lose heart. We will look for another location for deployment.

- What do you even do?

The art ship was invented to organize cultural events on it. If they were paid, we prepared all the necessary documents. But there were also free ones. In fact, this is the world's first creative cluster! And we are glad that we were given the opportunity to expand. Well, it doesn’t matter that the prosecutor’s office is closing the ship. We do not intend to curtail our activities.

-Who are you? And how many of you are there?

We are a group of caring young people. We all work in different places. Now there are seven people.

THE LAST OF THE MOHICANE

“The Bryusov Ship is one of the last ships to be removed from the Moscow River,” Nikolai Matushevsky, owner of the Flakon design plant, told KP. - Now the project is faced with the task of maintaining friendly relations with all partners and finding a new place for the ship. Among the possible locations for the future action of the project, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary are considered. We are also open to any proposals from regions that would be ready to take over the management of this project.

The ship "Valery Bryusov", by the way, is already 32 years old. Although experienced sailors say that this is not age for such a vessel.

If, of course, he is properly monitored,” Andrei Sharov, head of the international association of public organizations of naval veterans and submariners, told KP. - It all depends on the conditions of detention and on the attitude of the crew. Look, the sailing ship “Kruzenshtern” is almost a hundred years old, and everything is moving. In this case, the vessel is not used for its intended purpose. And this almost always leads to the death of the ship.

The famous motor ship will remain near the Muzeon park for about another month. At least that’s what representatives of the Flakon design plant say (Mosturflot does not report this).

Story

The motor ship "Valery Bryusov" off the coast of the Crimean embankment in the Muzeon park as an art space on July 13, 2014. Although the ship was moored to the embankment back in 1993, and before that it was operated on the water for eight years. Before the reconstruction of Bryusov, a hotel, restaurant, casino and (according to unofficial information) a brothel operated here for 20 years.

The reconstruction of the ship and its transformation into an art cluster was carried out by the team of Realologic Management Company, led by businessman Nikolai Matushevsky, which is also the design factory Flacon, and is now actively working on the new urban space - "". The first residents of Bryusov were the Artemy Lebedev Studio store, the Sito cafe, the Volna bar, the Physika showroom, the Jerusalem Bazar jewelry store, the Lamartis hand-bound bookshop, and the adidas Originals concept store.

However, already in September 2014, a couple of months after the opening, the new place had problems: a Rospotrebnadzor inspection ship. In particular, the department found unmarked equipment on the ship, while the ship did not have special tanks for recycling fluorescent lamps. For these and other reasons, the ship was considered unsafe for visitors and was closed until all the shortcomings were eliminated.

"Bryusov" his work in June 2015. This time there are about two dozen residents on it. Half of them are already familiar from the previous year, the rest are newcomers. In particular, a store for vapers, Babylon Vape Shop, a language school, Mypeople, a yoga studio, Yoga Boat, and a Mams & Paps cafe have appeared. In addition, techno parties began to be held on the ship, the most popular of which were Meduza.

At the beginning of April, it became known that “Bryusov” would close in mid-May, according to the prosecutor’s office, since it “operates in the format of an art center on water and is operated without a water use agreement,” which violates paragraph 2 of part 1 of article 11 of the Water Code of the Russian Federation. For this, the legal entity that owns the ship - Moscow Tourist Fleet OJSC - and the general director of the company must pay a fine of 50 and 10 thousand rubles, respectively.

The Bryusov administration said that from 2015 to 2017 it negotiated with the Moscow Department of Transport about the possibility of saving the project. As a result, it was not possible to reach an agreement - the authorities moved the ship from the Moscow River. The corresponding decision was approved by the Zamoskvoretsky court.

The further fate of the ship has not yet been officially announced. It is only known that the ship will not be in its usual place after May 15. In order for the ship to pass under the bridges, its upper deck will most likely be cut off, but “maybe the government will come up with another method of transportation,” representatives of the space specify.

PLACE: ship "Valery Bryusov"

FUNCTIONS: trading platforms, educational projects, exhibitions, entertainment and sporting events

EXPLOITATION: passenger cruise ship "Valery Bryusov", built in Austria in 1984, since June 1993 it has been in operation as a rack-mounted vessel, as the art cluster began operating in 2014

RECONSTRUCTION: Reallogic Management Company

SQUARE: LAB - the center of the ship with an area of 120 square meters

Sundeck - deck area of 260 square meters

I have been on the ship from the very beginning, that is, for more than three years, and I rent a small cabin here, which I use as a studio. In the summer I play on the sunny deck as a full-time DJ.

The ship is the main reason why I ended up in Moscow in the first place. I studied music in St. Petersburg, then my studio there burned down - against the backdrop of these events, I freaked out and left the country, hung out in Germany, and when my visa expired, I returned. Six months before this, Lesha Kapitanova and I (Director of the ship "Bryusov". - Ed.) We were talking a little drunk, and he said: “In short, Kirill, we are seizing a ship in the center of Moscow, creating three event sites.” And after a little time they invited me to the opening of Bryusov.

So I got on the ship, played my first performance, and after that I wandered around here and went into one room - closed my eyes and imagined a bunch of my devices in it. Then I told Kapitanov that they didn’t have enough musical space on the ship. I returned to St. Petersburg, and the next day the director of the ship called me, offered that space for a studio and said: “We really need hands. In short, I’ll buy you a ticket to Moscow today?”

That's how I ended up on the ship. I help everyone here with the technical side, but I don’t receive a salary for this, but I am given a big discount on rent and I perform at parties; in the summer I play here on a regular basis. When I started writing music on the ship, my sound changed a lot. The ship sometimes rocks, and this was reflected in the groove of my music - a kind of rounded rocking appeared in the sound.

There are two completely different periods in the life of this place. Before the ship closed - the Old Testament and after - the New Testament. The entire core of the team was formed largely in the Old Testament, and the closure became a filter for the people. Those who were commercially minded immediately dropped out, but those who perceived the place as an art cluster returned, no matter what, and began to collaborate even more closely. In the Old Testament of “Bryusov” there were 50% of people from St. Petersburg, and they brought St. Petersburg romance here. There was a principle of human interaction here. Everyone knew in advance that the ship could be closed, but they continued to work here.

At first, the captain of the ship looked at us very suspiciously, because in the 90s there was a casino and cabins for hourly rental, but then he believed that we would create something completely different. I can imagine how sad it is to be the captain of a ship that doesn't sail.

This is the place where foreigners should be taken in Moscow, there were many tourists here, you can be proud of it. There were a lot of educational projects on the ship, they taught DJing and music writing, they held festivals dedicated to the fine arts, and all sorts of food markets. In addition to permanent residents, there were temporary activities here. In winter, life on Bryusov came to a standstill, traffic became less, but residents who stayed for the winter also had their rental rates reduced. There were also those who left before the cold weather, having worked for one season.

It is important to understand that now the prosecutor’s office’s claims are not against the Bryusov ship project - it is not our problem, but the owner of the ship. We are in Russia, so I am not very surprised by what is happening. This is Russian business, this is how it works, I encountered something similar in St. Petersburg. There was a place called “Quarter”, where some dudes in leather jackets with bats arrived and forcibly took the tenants outside.

For many people, this place became a kind of start; it added enthusiasm to them. Some of the projects are now moving to Khlebozavod, I don’t know about the rest. I heard such information that the upper deck of the ship is cut down and the ship is flooded so that it floats under the bridge. There is resentment that this could have been done at the end of the summer, and not before the start of the season.

Passersby they're afraid to come here they think the ship will set sail. Some they ask how much the tickets cost

Our project is four years old, but for three of them we worked only online. April 21 marked one year since we opened at Bryusov. But I decided to cancel the celebration because our story ends here.

I sell jewelry myself, I work from 12:00 to 20:00 six days a week. Two or three people work in the store at a time. Other sellers work two after two. On my day off I still come here.

We were looking for an unusual place for a store because our jewelry is handmade and unique. The ship literally immediately captivated me - on the waves, romance. Nearby is the Tretyakov Gallery, in the summer before work I walked in Muzeon Park. Sometimes I would rent a hoverboard or Segway and ride it to lunch.

On the lower decks the motion is felt more strongly. I don’t get seasick, but at first, after a whole day in the store, I was swaying at home, especially in the shower. Although I didn’t have a goal to support the marine theme, I decided to make everything white, to keep more air and light in the design, so that it would be convenient to look at the decorations.

Tourists come here all the time, you feel like you’re in an aquarium. At the same time, many passers-by are afraid to enter, thinking that the ship will set sail. Some people ask how much tickets cost. Previously, I was also afraid to come here, it seemed to me that this was a restaurant or there was an entrance fee. When I finally stopped by, I was delighted: there were many creative workshops here, and I wanted to become a part of it. Working on a ship has status. Our store cooperates a lot with Europeans, and they are sincerely delighted when I tell them about the location of the store.

Diana Muzhanova

sales assistant at the Mouth to Mouth clothing store

I have been working at Mouth to Mouth on Bryusov for several months. Before that, she worked in chain stores in St. Petersburg, then moved to Moscow. I like that trade takes place on a ship, it’s unusual and interesting. Although if you take away the pitching, then this is an ordinary store with a good view of the river. When the boats pass, you can feel the ship rocking. But I'm used to it, and it doesn't bother me much.

I work part-time from 12:00 to 21:00 two in two. In bad weather, 15–20 people come a day. On weekdays there are usually few people until five o'clock in the evening, and in the evening the action begins. There are a lot of people here on weekends, but I'm used to a large flow of people. Once every two months we are given a uniform, that is, we can choose clothes from the store’s assortment and keep them for ourselves.

I know almost all the store employees. At Lambada we hand out business cards, and the townspeople are surprised: many have not even heard of the Bryusov ship. Once we had an inspection here, serious guys were walking around, and the neighbors were fined. However, I learned about the closure of the place from the news. I'm sad, but I'll continue to work in the new place we're moving to.

If you open the windows and close eyes when a ship sails by, then you can imagine that you are at sea

I've been on the ship for two years now, and I fell in love with this place right away. My friends laugh at me, they say that I went to the Morflot. I work in a cafe and am here almost every day, especially in the summer. Sometimes I had to work for months without days off. Sometimes there are queues in the corridor, and in winter there is calm for clients. Then, in fact, one person copes here.

I made most of the cranes in the design myself. Some were made by guests who wanted to contribute to the place. I tell them: “Come visit your cranes, they are your children.” The gloomiest people smile at me. Those who are in a hurry stay to chat with us for three hours. Strength comes from their response.

It happens that in the summer everyone comes in and says that the weather is good, but you stand sweaty at the bar next to the coffee machine, and it makes you feel hot. But there is no better place to work during the summer. You can go out on deck to get some air, and life immediately becomes better. And if you open the windows and close your eyes when a ship floats past, you can imagine that you are at sea.

When the Meduza techno parties are held here, I stay until the early hours. Then I sleep for a few hours and go back to work. I also go to good movie screenings here.

There are interesting projects and people on the ship, so I'm not looking for anything on the outside. We are friends with other cafes and do not compete. When we run out of glasses, we go to the Greeks at “Sieve” or to the Mexicans at “Na Chili”. Everyone on the ship is part of the team. There is a friendly atmosphere here; when we meet, everyone hugs and wishes each other a good day.

There have been talks about closing the ship since '14. But our pirate spirit did not allow this to happen; we always avoided problems. Now we are being deprived of our home. The entire ship's crew is coming up with a grandiose program for all the May holidays. On May 6th we are hosting a shipwide party on the upper deck.

When a person is in shakes for the first time some they think that they will feel bad now, they grab their heads and hearts. But it doesn’t hurt to draw a muscleman

In April our school celebrated one year. She has been here all along. The ship is an amazing place, perfect for artistic activities, and we did a lot of plein air paintings on deck. I won’t be modest and say that our wardroom is one of the best rooms on the ship. We made renovations, changed the layout a little, but the most important thing is our original, fantastically beautiful ceiling.

We are engaged in education here on an ongoing basis. We work seven days a week. They put their soul, a lot of time and money into the business. The school employs two administrators and myself, all teachers are invited. I come here almost every day for work purposes and get great pleasure when I see how the classroom is filled with interested students: a unique place works very efficiently. I love coming here and relaxing on the couch in my free time, enjoying the amazing atmosphere.

At one time I was the head of the laboratory on the flagship of the space fleet. Therefore, the maritime theme is close to me, sometimes I feel nostalgic for those times. Some items in our studio reflect the romance of the ship. For example, we use small ropes to hang pictures.

When a person starts to sway for the first time, he thinks that he is feeling bad now, and grabs his head and heart. But it doesn’t hurt to draw a muscleman. We have a small seating area, and all stands are easily moved depending on what is taking place here: a lecture or a practical lesson. No matter which way you look, you can immediately draw city landscapes from life. In the summer we often hold plein airs on the deck. For several hours, we fence off the space with ribbons and draw. They wanted to resume them soon, but what happened happened.

Of course, the ship has shortcomings. For example, sometimes in the summer there are a lot of people. It happens that during a lecture a noisy disco starts on the upper deck. But there were no conflicts, we have friendly tenants, and we always meet each other halfway.

There is a great community here: mostly our Russian brands and manufacturers, small pleasant coffee shops. I love walking around the ship and talking to people. There is a pleasant youth environment here.

Renting on a ship is even cheaper than renting the same premises on neighboring streets. This is associated with risks: we were warned upon arrival that there was a problem with prolonging the contract. We will move to the former workshop of Pyotr Konchalovsky on Bolshaya Sadovaya. The premises there are smaller, so, of course, our school will be forced to reduce the number of courses.

Information that the passenger cruise ship, which has been in the center of Moscow since June 1993, operating as a berth vessel, was confirmed already this spring. Accordingly, the cultural and entertainment art center, opened on board the ship in 2014, will cease its operation.

From 1993 to 2005, on board the Valery Bryusov, in addition to the hotel and restaurants, there was a casino, and after the ban on gambling, a karaoke center was converted.

In July 2014, on board the ship there was a cultural and entertainment art center “Ship of Bryusov”, developed by the Flacon design factory. In the autumn of the same year the center, but in June 2015 again, which continues to this day.

The famous ship "Valery Bryusov", which stood on the Crimean embankment for almost a quarter of a century, according to a court decision, sailed from the center of the capital yesterday morning. Forever. Cause? The ship did not have a water use agreement. Thus, city authorities continue to clear the banks of the Moscow River from potentially dangerous ships and landing stages, which often simply disfigure the entire water area.

"Valery Bryusov" is leaving the Moscow River; the city has seriously taken up the task of clearing its waters. Photo: Alexander Korolkov

The metropolitan authorities began removing ships that densely adhered to the embankments back in the nineties in 2013. Actually, a landing stage is a structure on the shore for boarding a ship, for example, a river station or a pier, but in the capital they turned old ships into them, mooring them forever and not always where this is permitted. Many housed offices, hotels, and restaurants. As the press service of the Transportation Organizer explained to RG, they are all excluded from the state ship register, that is, they are no longer ships, which means they have nothing to do on the water.

In total, over three years, 38 house-ships sailed away from their berths, 12 of them from the very center: from the Frunzenskaya, Krasnopresnenskaya, Kosmodamianskaya and Berezhkovskaya embankments. The owners removed most of them - 28 - themselves, 10 had to be taken out to the city, and now their owners owe the Moscow budget 80 million rubles for dismantling, transportation and storage.

"Valery Bryusov" - a legendary ship - lasted the longest in one of the most iconic and tourist-visited places in Moscow. For a quarter of a century, what has happened here! And a hotel, and a casino, and an entertainment center, and, of course, a restaurant. He was not listed as a landing stage operator, but many questions arose for him. “The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office checked the legality of the placement of the Valery Bryusov vessel moored on the Crimean embankment,” said Igor Semerikov, head of the Operations Department of the Transportation Organizer. - It has been established that the ship is operated without a water use agreement, which violates Art. 11 of the Water Code of the Russian Federation. The court satisfied the demands of the prosecutor's office in full and ordered the owner - Moscow Tourist Fleet OJSC - to vacate the embankment."

Over the course of three years, 38 house-ships just like the Bryusov sailed away from the capital’s piers.

“Bryusov” will soon be followed by “Lastochka-2” on Luzhnetskaya embankment and “A. Blok” on Krasnopresnenskaya. The first one does not have a mooring agreement, the second one is generally moored to the embankment, which is not suitable for this. “On illegally installed vessels, it is possible that the necessary safety standards may not be observed,” said Igor Semerikov. “Being on such vessels is dangerous both for visitors and for those people who work there. Residents of the surrounding houses also complain about the noise from the Lastochka vessels. 2" and "A. Block" and their pollution of the water area." After all, most of these ships discharge all waste directly into the water.

Currently, there are still 29 landing stages on the river within the capital, 17 of them are small. But they also need to prepare for their last flight soon.
