Holiday impressions in December

When we flew to Tenerife, at the beginning of December, I thought that I would not swim, at most in the pools or in the water park. But it turned out that the ocean greeted us with warmth. We spent all the days that we had free from excursions on the beach.

There are not very many vacationers at this time of year.

What to take with you on vacation?

We flew without luggage, only hand luggage (to save money). Therefore, it was not possible to take many things.

Be sure to take photo/video cameras, phones, chargers, and flash drives with movies.

If you plan to rent a car, then it makes sense to take a disk with you (it’s rare that rental cars have a USB port).

Where is the best place to stay?

We chose the south of the island so that it would be warmer. But in Las Americas it was very expensive or far from the beach. Therefore, we chose a neighboring town, where prices are much lower.

We rented an apartment (to have a good choice, this needs to be done a couple of months before the trip).

There are a lot of animals and plants in Loro Park. I really liked the killer whale show. I didn’t really like the dolphin show and parrot show (at Palmitos Park, on the neighboring island of Gran Canaria, they were more interesting). I also recommend eating before going to the park - there quite expensive and not tasty (we ate in a restaurant, not in fast food). A glass of fruit cost us 10 euros (and there was no fruit, half was thrown away).

Siam Park is an awesome water park with a bunch of different slides of varying difficulty. For those who don’t really like such a drive, there is a huge pool with waves. At the exit from the park there are stands with photographs. My husband and I found a photo where we were caught on a double bun near a waterfall.

I also recommend visiting the Maska Gorge. We drove to the port in Los Gigantes and bought tickets for the boat. You can get to the gorge itself in several ways - sail by boat from below or take a taxi to the village of Maska and go down the gorge.

The cost of a sun lounger in December is 4.5 euros.

The beaches are all clean, you won’t find any surprises there.

What can you buy?

After the unsuccessful purchase of a suitcase in Gran Canaria, we no longer bought anything from Asian-looking sellers. Therefore, we went for shopping to the capital - Santa Cruz (there are the most shopping centers there). There we bought a suitcase, cosmetics, perfumes and a few things.

About product prices

I really like Kiko cosmetics. And in Tenerife I found their company store. Mascara - 7 euros, gloss lipstick - 4.5 euros, micellar water 4 euros, polishes from 2 euros.

Samsonite suitcase was bought for 110 euros.

Where can I eat?

In the town of Callao Salvaje there is a restaurant called El Ancle. We ended up there by chance and ordered a plate of seafood - very tasty! Then we went to this restaurant again.

We also went to a fishing village. The El Rocas restaurant was recommended to us, but we arrived when it was closed. So we went to the nearby restaurant Agua y Sal. The sales assistant and waiter saw that we still couldn’t choose what we wanted to try and said that she would make a super plate. She loaded us with various goodies, diluted it with wine, salad and potatoes.

How much does it cost to eat? About food prices.

At El Ancle, a plate of seafood cost 20 euros. Adding a salad and a bottle of wine, the whole thing came to 30 euros.

At Agua y Sal, dinner cost us 80 euros for four.

The Costa Adeje region in the north-west of Tenerife has changed markedly in recent years. Another attraction of Adeje is the Casa Fuerte fortress. It began to be built back in 1553 to protect against the constant attacks of pirates that devastated the coast of Adeje. For three centuries, Casa Fuerte protected the town and played the role of a political and economic center. And in 1902 it was almost completely destroyed by a major fire. Many valuable historical artifacts were kept within the walls of the fortress. Only a small part was saved; they are exhibited in the Museum of the Canary Islands, located on the island of Gran Canaria.

Not far from Adeje is the famous Hell's Gorge hiking trail. Along a winding mountain path you can reach a small waterfall.

History of the area

The Adeje coast today is the most comfortable and respectable holiday destination in Tenerife. Let's tell you a few secrets.
The city of Adeje itself is located at an altitude of 300 m above sea level. Before the European conquest, this was the residence of the Guanche ruler. The last of the Guanches, at baptism, received the name Don Diego de Adeje and made peace with the Spaniards.

In 1496, the process of colonization and division of lands began under the leadership of Alonso Fernando de Lugo. A small settlement was founded near the Adeje River, where the modern city is located.
In the 16th century, local residents built the first monastic hermitages. In 1530, there was already a monastery in Adeje and another in Taucho. Much later, the monasteries of the Mother of God of the Sign appeared in Enramada and Concepcion.

When I first arrived, I must admit, I did not immediately feel any uniqueness of this place - the realization came later. As the main island of the Canary archipelago, it receives more than five million tourists annually, accounting for half of the total visitation. Many of this, I must say, quite impressive number come to the island of eternal spring not for the first time, having once left a piece of their heart here, as it eventually happened to me. It would seem that there is so much unknown and unvisited in the world, why go to the same places several times? The answer is simple: this island turns out to be so cozy and beautiful that every person feels at home here, in fact being several thousand kilometers from their homeland.

Costa Adeje is the most popular resort, stretching along the coast for almost seven kilometers. The first part of the resort's name - Costa - is translated from Spanish as shore. The second - Adeje - bears this name due to its historical predecessor Adekse, which in the language of the indigenous Guanche population means “Hole in the Sea”. It so happened that always, when I came to the Canary Islands, I stayed right here, and I probably should have gotten bored with everything here, but just a few days ago I was thinking again, shouldn’t I fly to again?.. This place is addictive, makes you fall in love with yourself, doesn’t let you go and makes you come back again and again. Let's try to figure out why.

How to get there

Since Costa Adeje is an island resort, to get to it you will first have to take a boat or air link between mainland Spain and the Canary archipelago, and then travel to the resort itself by bus, taxi or rental car.

By plane

From Moscow

On average, a ticket for a direct flight from Moscow costs about 30,000 RUB (airlines such as Aeroflot, VIM Airlines, UTair). Prices for a ticket with a transfer can start from as much as 15,000 RUB, if there are inexpensive tickets to Barcelona or Madrid (about 10,000 RUB), from where you can fly to Tenerife and back for only 4,000-6,000 RUB on any of the European low-cost airlines . You can also fly from Moscow on a Russian airline for very little money. Victory to, for example, Italian, German Memmingen or Cologne.

From Saint-Petersburg

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights to the island from the northern capital. However, there are often various promotions like those that I described in the previous paragraph, when you can fly quite cheaply to some European capital, and from there to Tenerife. It must be said that such prices are rather rare: on average, transfer tickets cost about 23,000 – 26,000 RUB and are operated by a huge number of different airlines - from Air Europa, KLM And Air France before S7, Brussels Airlines, Iberia and many others.

Tenerife Airports

Tenerife is served by two airports located on opposite sides of the island - southern and northern. Now you will learn about where exactly and why most planes fly from Russia, and you can read about how to get from each airport to Costa Adeje in a couple of paragraphs.

The first one with a beautiful name Aeropuerto de Sofía Reina(which means Reina Sofía Airport in Spanish), is named after the Queen of Spain, who personally opened it in the 70s. This name, unfortunately, is almost never used today; instead, the more familiar and ordinary one is used Tenerife Sur Aeropuerto. It is only 20 km from Costa Adeje, and it is where most tourist charters fly, including direct flights from Russia.

The second airport is located in the north of the island and is called Tenerife Norte Aeropuerto or Aeropuerto de los Rodeos. It is much smaller in size than the southern one, and it does not even have a customs zone. Therefore, it only accepts flights from mainland Spain and neighboring islands. So if you have a connecting flight in Barcelona or Madrid, your plane may land here too.

By bus

From the southern airport of Tenerife to Costa Adeje you can take any of the buses that run on routes No. 111, No. 343, No. 450. It will take about 30-40 minutes and cost a little less than 4 EUR. The bus stop at the airport is located right outside the arrivals hall, so don't worry - it's hard to miss.

There are two ways to get from the northern airport - with or without a transfer. Both options will cost about 13 EUR. If you choose the first option, then you need to get to the capital of the island, Santa Cruz, by bus (choose any of the three: No. 102, No. 107 or No. 108). At the final station you need to change to another bus. You can take route No. 111, which goes with stops for about an hour and a half. The second one - express number 110 - does not make stops and reaches Costa Adeje in an hour.

Upon arrival at the bus station ( Estacion De Guaguas) to get to your hotel, you will most likely have to take a taxi or arrange a transfer in advance, since there are very few hotels within walking distance.

By car

You can rent a car immediately upon arrival at any of the Tenerife airports, which gives you a huge number of advantages over a bus. I’ll tell you a little later about what you need to rent a car on the island. The roads in Tenerife are very good and, importantly, free. The route to Costa Adeje is along the highway and will take about 30 minutes from the southern airport, and a little less than an hour from the northern airport.

By taxi

There is also the option of taking a taxi to the resort. There is no need to book a car in advance, since they are always standing in an even line waiting for customers right before leaving the arrivals area - like bus stops, they are hard to miss. From the southern airport the cost of a trip varies around 25-30 EUR, depending on the address of your hotel, from the northern airport - about 95 EUR. Be prepared for the fact that if you arrive late in the evening or at night, the price tag will be 20-25% higher.

By ferry

For those people who suffer from aerophobia, but still dream of getting to Tenerife, there is a company Trasmediterranea(which, by the way, celebrates its centenary this year 2017), providing ferry services from mainland Spain to many islands of the Canary and Balearic archipelagos. Ferries to the capital Tenerife (as well as to Lanzarote and La Palma) depart from the port of Cadiz, in southern Spain. You will spend a little less than a day on the way, and tickets cost about 300 EUR round-trip.

When is the season? When is the best time to go

It is not for nothing that Tenerife is said to be the island of eternal spring, since the tourist season here lasts all year round due to the mild, comfortable, stable climate. There are almost never sudden temperature changes here, and even the difference between the coldest winter and hottest summer days is usually no more than 15-20 degrees. Tenerife has two main climatic zones, and Costa Adeje, being in the south of the island, is drier and warmer. Cold winds practically do not reach this coast thanks to the mountain range, which conventionally divides the island into north and south. Because of this, there is rarely precipitation here, and the tourist season lasts almost all year round.

Before we begin to describe the features of a particular time of year, it is worth noting that such a favorable neighborhood of the island with Africa has one big drawback, and it is called the beautiful word kalima. This weather phenomenon involves the presence of small particles of sand in the air, which are brought with it by the Scirocco wind from the Sahara. Because of this, visibility deteriorates significantly, the line between the ocean and sky becomes very blurred. Kalima lasts from two to six days, and most often occurs in the summer, but once I was “lucky” to encounter it in early spring.

Of course, summer is the warmest time at the resort. The temperature rarely drops below 20 °C at night, and during the day it fluctuates around 28-32 °C. Some people think that since the island is at the level of Africa, it will be horribly stuffy in the summer. In fact, thanks to its unique location and other features such as underwater currents, the heat is almost not felt here, and in summer it is quite comfortable. The water in the ocean warms up to 20-25 °C.

August is the busiest month for Tenerife due to the holiday season, so if you don't like a lot of people on the beach (but who does), it might be worth visiting a month earlier or later. However, any European resort suffers from this problem at this time, and, perhaps, this is not a good enough reason to refuse the upcoming trip.

Costa Adeje in autumn

From my point of view, early autumn is the best time to visit Costa Adeje, the so-called velvet season, when most of the tourists leave. The air temperature drops by an average of five degrees compared to July and August, it’s easier to breathe, but it’s still very warm, and the water still barely has time to cool down, so most tourists still swim in the ocean in September-October. By the way, since it is in September that most people’s holidays and holidays end, every year there is a noticeable decrease in prices for both tickets and hotels, as well as for ready-made tours.

In November it becomes a little cooler, but nevertheless, sunbathing and walking in light clothes during the day is still quite comfortable, but sometimes in the evening you have to throw on a warm jacket. November is ideal for those who don’t like heat, want to go on as many excursions as possible, and prefer to admire it instead of swimming in the ocean.

In spring, the island seems to come to life - the mark on the thermometer rises again to 25 ° C, and the flowering of many plants, which began in February, reaches its peak in March. The city is buried in colorful colors. Interestingly, almond blossom symbolizes the beginning of spring.

In May, the almost full-fledged summer season begins, many more people swim in the ocean, rains are extremely rare, and there are many more sunny days. The infrastructure associated with tourism services begins to work much harder, as if waking up from winter hibernation. Overall, spring is a great time to visit Costa Adeje.

I personally find it hard to call what happens here from December to February winter. The air temperature fluctuates around 15-20 °C, and the water temperature rarely drops below 15 °C. Almost no one swims in the ocean, but every year there are still brave souls who confidently go swimming under the surprised glances of others. Often these brave people are our tourists who have flown in from cold Russia and are probably rejoicing at any reading above zero on the thermometer. Previously, local residents looked at this action with wide open eyes and mouths, but now they are accustomed to this and are calm, even understanding about it.

It should be noted that there is still slightly sub-zero temperatures and snow on the island - at the highest point, the Teide volcano. During the winter months, even in Costa Adeje it is quite cloudy and there are very few truly sunny days.

Districts. Where is the best place to live?

Conventionally, the entire resort can be divided into two parts. Near the Hesperia Troya Hotel, a little to the north, the Troya River flows and flows into the ocean. This is the imaginary boundary between the parts. There is no fundamental difference between them, one part smoothly flows into the other, and you will not notice any contrast at first glance. But still, if you look closely, each has its own small characteristics. It is very important not to confuse Costa Adeje with just Adeje. The first is a coastal resort, the second is a completely different municipal center, which is located 7 kilometers from the ocean, and it can only offer small village hotels as accommodation options. Of course, it is much quieter there than at a resort, but if one of your goals is to relax on the beach, then this is not your option.

The coast to the west of the river bed is, in fact, called Costa Adeje. This area tends to be home to more luxurious hotels, most of which have been built relatively recently. Here are the best beaches of the resort, the most expensive shops and fashionable boutiques. This part involves a calm, measured family vacation. Hotels here are much more expensive than in the neighboring part - although if you wish, you can find an option where a double room costs 65 EUR, but on average the prices here are much higher.

To the south of the riverbed there is a second part of the resort, smaller in size, called P Laya de Las Americas. In its modern form, it appeared here about 50 years ago on a completely empty section of the southern coast of the island. It seemed to the authorities quite attractive for tourism, since, unlike the northern one, it was protected by a mountain range from winds and bad weather. In fact, some argue that this part should be considered a separate resort, but since there is no border between them, they are essentially a single whole.

Just 6 km from Costa Adeje is Jungle Park, which is also called Eagle Park after its main inhabitants. Every day there is a colorful show where these birds of prey will fly over your heads, dive rapidly at high speed, and even land on your hands and heads. Here you will experience the amazing atmosphere of a real jungle. A ticket to the park for adults and teenagers costs 24 EUR, for children under 10 years old - 15.50 EUR, for children under 4 years old - 7 EUR (more details at).

Another park is located just 10 minutes from Costa Adeje as the crow flies. This Monkey Park, which many affectionately call the “lemur coop.” They say that the owners of this park have been experiencing great financial difficulties over the last few years due to the larger and higher budget Loro and Jungle, but in my opinion, you can get just as good of an experience here. Its trick is that almost every animal you meet here can be petted and fed with special food (you can buy it at the entrance for 3 EUR). I promise, lazy and a little arrogant lemurs will win your heart. A ticket to this park costs only 10 EUR for adults, for children under 12 years old - half as much.

Be sure to go on a boat trip on a small boat into the open ocean. During the excursion you will be told a lot of interesting things about the history of the resort, and you will also be able to admire the whales calmly swimming past the ship, and dolphins who love to frolic in the waves. At the resort you will see many different companies that organize similar excursions, the prices and conditions of each vary, but on average a ticket per person costs about 50 EUR. Not very cheap, but the emotions gained from watching beautiful animals in their habitat will stay with you for a lifetime.

Costa Adeje also has many options for wellness holidays. For example, this is where one of the largest spa centers in the Canary Islands, Aqua Club Termal, is located, where you can truly relax and improve your health.

Fans of sports such as golf and tennis will also not be left out: there is a fairly large area Golf Costa Adeje and a large tennis club Club de Tenis Miraverde- Sociedad Deportiva.

Shopping and shops

What you need to know about shopping in Costa Adeje - it is far from it, and not even continental. For large purchases, it is better to go to the large El Corte Ingles shopping center, where countless brands are represented, many of which cannot be found in Russia. It is located in the heart of the capital of Tenerife Santa Cruz at Av. Tres de Mayo, 7. At the same time, prices on the island are much nicer than Russian and even European ones. There are three main shopping outlets in Costa Adeje.

1. Avenida de las Americas, aka the Golden Mile, where shops are open until 10 pm. Both expensive companies and very democratic ones are represented here. There are several shopping centers on the Golden Mile, the most striking of which is Centro Comersial Safari, where everything is collected in one place - shoe stores, clothing stores, perfumes, jewelry, and cosmetics.
2. Relatively new to the opposite side of the resort Plaza del Duque - corner of luxury. Here, for the most part, there are fashionable boutiques, and among them, somewhat unexpectedly, was the affordable Mango. All I can say about this shopping center is that it is very beautiful, very fresh and very expensive.
3. Not to mention the shopping center Gran Sur, where residents of most apartments in the resort come to buy groceries - downstairs there is a large Mercadona grocery store. On the upper floors there is a small food court, several inexpensive shops (Stradivarius, Springfield), cell phone sales points and a cinema.

Do not forget about such a feature of Spain (and some other southern countries) as napping during the day - also known as siesta. As a rule, this does not apply to large shopping centers like El Corte Ingles or Gran Sur, but small shops are often closed from two in the afternoon to five in the evening. There is also no uniform schedule regarding working days - some retail outlets work daily, while others rest on weekends.

Bars. Where to go

The main part of the bars is concentrated in Las Americas, many of them are located on Veronicas Street. It is located next to the Sol Tenerife hotel right on the border with Costa Adeje. During the day it may not be very comfortable, but it is quite calm. But at night, when young people, ready for any adventure, leave their hotels and come here, ordinary passers-by on Veronicas feel uncomfortable. In the 90s, when neighboring Costa Adeje did not yet exist in its modern guise, this street was a cult place among certain sections of the local population.

In fact, now everything is not as scary as it seems at first glance - although it is noisy here, it is quite safe, and the police always keep order.

If you want to go relax and have a cocktail, pay attention to these places:

• The Pub-Tenerife - a typical British pub where you can watch football in the evenings.
• Casablanca Piano Bar known for calm, unobtrusive music and affordable prices.
• If you want to spend the evening on the embankment and watch the sunset, Moonlight Bar- what you need.
• About St Eugens Bar some say it's the best value for money, where you can relax and dance.
• In a small Cafe Steps There is a cozy homely atmosphere, and you can even meet the owners.

Clubs and nightlife

There are several nightclubs on the already familiar Veronikas Street and in the immediate vicinity. They, however, are not quite like clubs in the traditional sense - they have no dress code and strict “bouncers” at the entrance, a relaxed relaxed atmosphere reigns, and the air breathes as if a never-ending holiday.

• Tramps The King Of Clubs has long been recognized as one of the best clubs in the resort, but lately visitors have been complaining that the establishment is becoming a bit crowded.
• Monkey Beach Club 3 is an excellent club on the embankment, perhaps the most popular among Spanish youth.

Extreme Sports

Costa Adeje provides its tourists with all the opportunities for active recreation. There are surfing schools here, although strong waves at the resort are very rare, and many also engage in sailing and parachuting. For windsurfing you need to go to neighboring El Medano. Diving is especially popular at the resort. Experts say that the ocean bottom in southern Tenerife is particularly clean, making it ideal for this sport.

Souvenirs. What to bring as a gift

Forget about boring magnets and postcards and pay attention to the following things that can truly be called Canarian:

• Among the alcoholic drinks, it is worth highlighting honey rum (ron miel). It has a rather unusual sweet taste that makes it look like liqueur. Costs about 7-12 EUR.
• I have already written about traditional mojo sauces, which are sold in any supermarket. A small set of mojo rojo and mojo verde can be bought for 3-5 EUR.
• Women will appreciate creams and other cosmetic products made from aloe vera, which is very popular in Tenerife. A small jar of moisturizer costs about 5 EUR.
• Also very popular here are jewelry made from olivine, a beautiful green stone mined from the depths of the volcano. Prices for simple jewelry start from 10 EUR.

How to get around the city

Within the resort itself, of course, if opportunities permit, it is best to travel on foot, since the distances are very short. However, Tenerife is not a place where you need to sit in a hotel, or where your daily route should be limited to the path from your room to the beach. This is a whole treasure trove of a huge number of natural attractions and beautiful parks. Therefore, I will tell you how you can get from Costa Adeje to any point on the island.

Buses

The bus is the main (and in fact, the only land) way to travel both around the city and throughout the island using public transport. This system is very well developed, with its help you can get to almost any point in Tenerife. The company that provides this opportunity is called Titsa, and all its buses are painted in a beautiful green color, which fits very organically into the bright landscape of the island. By the way, in the local dialect the bus is called guagua. The company has its own application (called GuaguApp), which you can download to your phone. The main bus station of Costa Adeje is located in the south of the resort directly opposite the Siam Park water park right on the border with. In Spanish it is called Estacion de Bus.

To begin with, it should be noted that these buses are quite spacious, very comfortable, equipped with air conditioning, and their routes very often pass along the coast or other scenic roads. All buses run according to a schedule, which you can see at the stops or check in advance on the company’s website. Also at the stations you can buy a ticket to the station you need.

As for tickets, their prices are very low. For example, you can get from Costa Adeje to Los Gigantes for only 5 EUR, from the southern airport to the resort - for only 4 EUR, that is, you can travel around the island on more than a budget. Also, as a rule, the further you drive, the less you pay per kilometer. However, there is a small life hack: if you are planning several trips, I highly recommend purchasing Bono Bus Card, which will allow you to save from 30% to 50% of the cost of a long-distance trip. These discount cards are sold both at bus stations and in some shops, internet cafes and post offices. They can also be purchased at the southern airport of the island at the La Alpizpa store, which is located opposite check-in counter no. 47. The system of operation of the Bono Bus Card is a little similar to the Moscow “troika” - you buy a card for 12 or 30 EUR - this will be your balance. If you are traveling with your family or company, you can buy one card for several people. Some people mistakenly buy a monthly subscription for 40 EUR, but it is only available to local residents.

Having chosen the route you need and getting on the bus, you must insert the card into a special validator, which is located at the entrance and tell the driver where and how many people are going - he will write off the required amount. If there are not enough funds on the card, you can pay the remaining amount in cash (at the Bono Bus rate). Important point: drivers are prohibited from accepting bills larger than 20 EUR. On the back you can see the remaining balance. It is also worth noting that these cards are not valid on routes to the Teide volcano. You should always let the driver know that you are going to get off at the next stop - there are special buttons in the car for this. You can ask the driver to warn you that you don’t know where the station you need is located - he will tell you.

Bicycle rental

When it comes to getting around Costa Adeje itself, the best option is on your own two feet, but you can also ride a bicycle. Very often they can be rented at the hotel (sometimes even for free). If you don't have this option, there are several rental companies in the city itself - for example, Bike Point Tenerife. They have regular bikes, mountain bikes, and electric bikes. Prices start from 15 EUR per day.

Keep in mind that the terrain in Costa Adeje is mountainous, and the further your hotel is from the beach, the more likely it is that it is located high enough that getting there on a regular bicycle will be somewhat problematic.

Taxi. What features exist

As for taxis, there is a single tariff for all of them, according to which for each kilometer in the city a fee of 0.55 EUR is charged, and outside it - twice as much - 1.10 EUR. All official taxis on the island are white, but there are no unofficial ones here.

Cunning drivers can sometimes make a small detour instead of driving on a straight road, thus increasing the mileage and increasing the numbers on the meter, but don’t worry - you are unlikely to be cheated by more than 3-6 EUR. However, this can happen both in the north of the island and on mainland Spain, so it is difficult to classify this as a peculiarity - rather, it is a cost of the profession. One day, a rather funny incident happened to us in Madrid - we were traveling in two taxis from the hotel to the airport, when suddenly the second car, in which our friends were, disappeared from sight. About ten minutes after we arrived at the hotel, they appeared too - with a number on the meter slightly higher than ours and an extremely satisfied driver behind the wheel.

Transport rental

A car is by far the best opportunity to see the most of the island. You do not depend on the bus schedule, you can create your own travel route, it costs less than a taxi or personal transfer, and for lovers of road travel this is simply paradise. There are no toll highways or traffic jams, the distance between Costa Adeje and even the farthest attractions from it is no more than 100 km, and local drivers drive quite carefully.

You can rent a car either at one of the two airports or in Costa Adeje itself. In all three places there are different rental companies - both large international ones with a worldwide reputation, and small local ones. It is quite possible that even your hotel will have the opportunity to rent a car. Some people are afraid to contact small offices, but in fact there is nothing wrong with that - you just need to carefully read the contract, insurance conditions, driver requirements and other documents. If you are careful, you can not only avoid many problems, but also save a lot of money.

In order to rent a car, you must have:

• Of course, a driver's license. As a rule, ordinary Russian rights are accepted everywhere.
• International passport.
• At least one year of experience. In fact, the minimum experience and age of the driver varies from company to company, but, for example, in small offices it is much easier to negotiate if you are a couple of months short of the required number.
• Plastic card. Usually companies require a credit card, but most in Costa Adeje and Tenerife generally accept regular debit cards.

The price of a car will depend on many factors: the specific model, its age and condition, insurance, rental period, company, age of the driver, type of gearbox. As a rule, there are many more manual cars on the island, so cars with automatic transmission are much more expensive. I highly recommend booking a car in advance via the Internet - there are often various promotions on websites, there is more choice, and besides this, you won’t have to waste your precious vacation time on this. In essence, the traffic rules in Tenerife are practically no different from those in Russia, but the fines for violating them are much higher here. Gasoline here is more expensive than in Russia, but still noticeably cheaper than, for example, in France, neighboring Spain - for a liter of 95 you will be asked 1.21 EUR, for a liter of 98 - 1.33 EUR. To avoid getting lost and make it easier to navigate in unfamiliar areas, the rental company will offer you to install a navigator in the car for an additional fee. Usually, in order not to overpay, I install an application with a map of the area and navigation on it in advance on my phone or tablet.

When it comes to parking, everything is as simple as shelling pears. You cannot park your car in places where there is a yellow stripe along the sidewalk and where there is a “no parking” sign. Where there is a white stripe (or no stripes at all), you can park. There are practically no paid parking lots here - except perhaps only underground ones in shopping centers or in some hotels. However, as a rule, the majority of the latter offer free parking to guests.

Costa Adeje - holidays with children

Costa Adeje is a great place to relax with children! High level of safety, mild climate, rare precipitation, a huge number of amusement parks. Almost every hotel in the resort has a children's pool and playground, and some have water slides. Many of them also have an entertainment program for children of all ages, and employ animators and nannies. Most cafes and restaurants offer children's menus. It is not a fact that children will be happy about the rather difficult climb to Teide or conquering the Masca Gorge, but they will definitely enjoy the famous Siam and Loro Parks, boat trips, an ostrich farm, a monkey park and many other attractions of the island . I won’t talk about the impression the Atlantic Ocean makes on little travelers, especially if they came “to the sea” for the first time - just get ready for the fact that you will have to pull them out of the water by the hand, but, I think, their eyes sparkling with happiness worth it.

In February, a week of carnivals begins in the capital of the island, which in scale are compared to the famous Brazilian one. Not everyone knows that at this time there is also a children's carnival with costumed processions. Local children and teenagers take part in it and choose their queen. Therefore, if you are traveling to the island at the end of winter, be sure to attend this event - the children are absolutely delighted with it.

A lot of Russian-speaking families with children come to Costa Adeje. Russian speech is especially common during school holidays, so don’t worry that your child will be bored - he will probably be able to meet someone.
