Bars, spas, fitness rooms, restaurants and other places for both entertainment and active recreation are open almost around the clock. There are three sandy beaches in the area: convenient for swimming, with many additional services.

Sozopol

The resort has a unique architecture associated with its rich history. A vacation spot for many celebrities and creative people. The vegetation in the area is varied, which is due to the status of the reserve, as well as the presence of a river flowing nearby. Sozopol has three sandy beaches of average traffic. Tours of old churches are popular. Small restaurants offer local cuisine.

Primorsko

It is located on a wide cape, which distinguishes the resort from its neighbors. Rare species of animals and plants are found on the territory. You can stay in boarding houses, sanatoriums and hotels from three stars. The beaches differ mainly in the calmness of the sea: some are almost windless, others are stormy. They are also equipped differently, although each has the required minimum in the form of umbrellas, sun loungers, booths and other things.

Varna

Large and old resort. Apart from the beaches, there is a lot to see in terms of attractions. The mud of a nearby lake, as well as the water of mineral springs, is used as healing. Bars, cafes and restaurants offer a large selection of drinks and dishes, both local and traditional. Seafood and fresh fruits dominate the diet of residents. In addition to well-maintained ones, there are several wild and nudist beaches.

Balchik

A port city with remarkable architecture: some of the buildings are located in an amphitheater. Hotels and guesthouses coexist with villas and sanatoriums, so there is a wide choice of accommodation. Restaurants and cafes serve dishes from different cuisines of the world, including Russian and Ukrainian. Attractions: a botanical garden, a historical museum, and a fort located nearby. Kranevo

Located near Albena and Golden Sands. A picturesque place: linden trees, cypresses, oaks give it a special shape. There is a youth camp here. Housing prices are affordable. Cafes and restaurants give preference to national cuisine. The discovery of mineral springs made it possible to make Kranevo a place for treatment and prevention of diseases. The beach stretches for more than five kilometers, is covered with sand, and the sea is clean.

Burgas

It is located in the east of the bay of the same name. Most beaches have a smooth entrance to the water, developed infrastructure, and they are all covered with sand. In addition, tourists can visit one of the museums, visit picturesque lakes, or go on an excursion to another tourist center. You can also rent accommodation in the private sector, although hotels are preferable in this regard in terms of services and comfort.

Byala

The resort is very diverse in terms of leisure activities. In addition to the well-equipped beach, where you can spend the whole day without getting bored, there are also additional entertainment options. Nearby there are hunting grounds where, if you have a license, you can shoot game. Underwater fishing is also developed, diving instructors give lessons, and there are sailing classes. Local wine and grapes are famous throughout the country. Vast forests approach almost the water itself.

Review

It is believed that the local sea is warmer than in neighboring resorts. In addition to traditional shops and cafes, there are national taverns and a food market with local riches: fruits, spices, wine, fish and more. There are few large hotels, but the coast is dotted with villas and cottages. Mineral springs attract tourists no less than clean sandy beaches. Spas and gyms will help you relax and get in shape.

Elenite

The resort can be called closed: inside it there is everything you need for a comfortable and varied holiday. The restaurants offer an amazing atmosphere: each is designed in a unique style to match the cuisine. There is a water park and a children's club. There are many attractions on the beach, entry into the water is smooth, shallow water stretches for quite a long distance from the shore. All this makes Elenite a family holiday center. For adults, bars, discos, spas and sports grounds are open.

Pomorie

Located on a peninsula. The resort is primarily famous for its mud therapy. The salt lakes located on its territory are one of the main attractions of Pomorie. There is a beach, but it is much worse than in neighboring cities: it has a brown tint, and some parts of the coast are covered with stones. You can stay in one of the hotels, but most tourists choose sanatoriums and boarding houses.

Kiten

It is located near the mouth of the Karagach River. Prices are reasonable when compared to neighboring resorts. It is surrounded on one side by rocks, so the winds here are rare and not too strong. In addition to hotels, there are other accommodation options, such as equipped camping sites. Bulgarian wines and fish are a traditional lunch in Kiten. The three beaches are practically indistinguishable from each other: comfortable, covered with sand, with a gentle entrance into the water.

Lozenets

Historically, it was a fishing settlement, a grape region. Now, although the traditions have been partially preserved, it is more related to resort holidays than to crafts. The infrastructure is updated year after year - Lozenets is developing rapidly. Natural attraction – Strandzha Mountain. The beach is sandy, equipped with everything you need and not very wide. There are a variety of hotels, small cottages are available for rent.

Kavarna

The uniqueness of the resort is its coastal strip with a length of more than forty kilometers. The beaches are varied, differing only in the number of additional services, although there is one artificial one that stands out from the general series. The attractions of the area are ancient buildings and ruins. The Maritime Museum will be of interest to both children and adults, as will the city fountains. Restaurants and shops are a must-have attribute of a vacation.

Topola

Located in a picturesque area where vegetated hills and meadows adjoin. Local water, enriched with magnesium and iodine, is used for medical procedures. A modern medical center has been built in Topol, providing a wide range of services. Active recreation includes horseback riding, diving, hiking, sightseeing tours of all types, including helicopter rides.

Ahtopol

Located near the border with Turkey at the foot of Strandzha Mountain. It is not the most popular resort, which is why the prices here are low. If you get tired of lying on the beach, you can go to explore the ancient castle, take a walk in the local park or visit the Ropotamo nature reserve. The beaches are clean and not too crowded, all the necessary little things are available for rent. There is a sufficient choice of housing to suit any budget.

Ravda

The resort is focused primarily on children's and youth recreation. The infrastructure for sports is one of the best in the country. Classes are held for beginner divers, horse riders, and surfers. Rowers and others. Both adults and children can attend classes. There are large hotels, although the priority for tourists is camp sites, guesthouses, and mini-hotels. Fast food is more common in Ravda than in other places.

Shkorpilovtsi

Located on the northern coast of Bulgaria. The settlement is very small, but its beach is huge and popular among tourists: 13 kilometers long and about 100 meters wide. There are few hotels; cottages are rented. The area is suitable for lovers of a quiet and sedate holiday, as well as for families with small children. Cafes and restaurants are also few in number, but they can surprise you with the quality of national cuisine.

Gull

A resort very close to Golden Sands. Accommodation for all categories: hotels, mini-hotels, boarding houses, cottages. The beach is small but very well maintained. Here, umbrellas and sun loungers are rented, and there are entertainment options, such as renting a catamaran, banana boat rides, and more. The vegetation is dense and surrounds the beach on both sides. Helps to escape from the heat. Cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

Resort Rusalka

It is the northernmost holiday destination in Bulgaria. It is located in a bay whose name translates as “bird bay”: all because of the birds nesting nearby. Some hotels operate on an all-inclusive basis, and there are also more budget accommodations. Restaurants offer local cuisine. Some host master classes. Entertainment includes visiting natural and man-made attractions, outdoor games, and sports.

Kamchia

Located on the territory of a national reserve. Clean sandy beaches are adjacent to a river, dense forests, and bushes that go right to the shore. There are few hotels, mostly mini. Many tourists prefer to stay in campsites. On the contrary, there are many restaurants and cafes, and fish themes predominate there. Due to its favorable geographical location, it is convenient to get to other, more popular resorts.

Tsarevo

It is the southernmost resort in Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast. Three beaches are covered with fine sand. All of them are located in lagoons. Since the main tourist flow is made up of Bulgarians themselves, prices for housing are also low. And for food, and for a few entertainments. The harbor, the royal church, the Greek settlement are the sights of the village. A national park is located nearby.

My friend is now just thinking about buying a home in Bulgaria. The cheapest apartments are located in Bansko and its outskirts. This is a ski resort in the mountains. Here you can buy a one-room apartment for 10 thousand euros plus mandatory real estate and renovation taxes, since the official websites of realtors do not sell ready-made apartments, but only boxes. The realtors themselves are ready to help you with repairs and paperwork, just know that the price on the website differs significantly from the final price.

The most expensive apartments are in large cities such as Sofia and Sandanski. It was in the latter that we wanted to look for housing. This is a small town in the south of Bulgaria, not far from the places where the great Vanga lived, closer to the border with Greece. There is no smell of the sea here, although Sandanski is considered the warmest settlement in Bulgaria. Subtropics reign here. The town is known as a balneological resort. When you come here, you really understand what real clean air is. For asthmatics this is a real paradise. I was here at the beginning of September 2016. I will say this: I had to get here by car from Sofia. I was advised not to use either the buses or the railway. They explained it simply: the bus only travels when it is full, that is, if you bought a ticket for 14:00 and, besides you, there are 2-3 other people on the bus, you will not go, but will wait for the next flight. But railway transportation is in a very poor condition. Therefore, I searched the Internet for the website of private road carriers (there are a lot of such websites) and agreed in Russian when I would arrive. The service did not disappoint. I was also able to get a discount for a two-way trip. The trip cost me 113 euros for two, round trip. In addition, the driver was waiting for us at the airport with a sign with my name and spoke excellent Russian.

Before this, I negotiated with the realtor via email and Facebook. Home inspections should be free, you don't have to pay. There is not much choice in Sandanski: the apartments are small, about 25-30 m2. The cost is 25 thousand euros plus taxes and repairs, that is, at the end you will pay 40 thousand euros. Pros: silence, clean air, key to the entrance. Of the minuses: in the city they don’t understand either Russian or English, you can only communicate with people associated with real estate in Russian. The realtor is local, but speaks Russian well, but it was difficult with the salespeople in the store and the bank employees. The second disadvantage: lack of work. Pensioners who like to walk in the park and breathe in the pleasant air should go to Sandanski. By the way, there are very tasty pastries and fruits, in the center there is a Billa supermarket. We stayed overnight in a family-type hotel and paid 15 euros for all amenities (except breakfast) for a double room - shower, huge bed, satellite TV, mini-fridge, dressing table, paintings on the walls.

If you want to buy a home for a summer vacation with your family, then stay on the east coast. But remember that there are always a lot of people there in the summer and quite deserted in the winter. That is, living in these places 12 months a year will be very problematic. And it’s unlikely that work will work out. Prices for apartments here are lower than in Sandanski, but higher than in Bansko, about 20 thousand euros plus taxes and repairs.

In Sofia, housing will be even more expensive, up to 100 thousand euros, although it all depends on what you want: maybe a studio will be enough for you. But there is a high probability of finding a job and communicating in English or Russian. There really is no work in small towns, people leave to work in Germany, and those that remain are mainly involved in the tourism sector. So choose what you like. But remember that Bulgarians are very open and friendly.

They are very unique, but they also have something in common. For example, climate. In the country it is very soft, Mediterranean. The nature is beautiful, there are mountains, lakes and the sea coast. The story is also very interesting and sometimes exciting. That is why many tourists come here to relax.

Ancient cities

The cities of Bulgaria are mostly very ancient; there are many historical monuments preserved from the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans. The domination of the Turks and the subsequent liberation with the participation of the Russian army also left their mark. All cities of Bulgaria, despite a very long and complex history, are thriving today, tourism is developed here, including Orthodox tourism. The streets are well-groomed, ancient buildings harmoniously coexist with modern buildings. The list of Bulgarian cities where you can have a good rest includes Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas. They are the largest and most significant in the country.

Sofia

You need to start your review of Bulgarian cities with Sofia. This is one of the most beautiful and ancient cities in Europe. It is the largest in Bulgaria and is its capital. It is also the largest city on the Balkan Peninsula. Sofia is located in a basin on the outskirts of the Vitosha mountain range, the highest point of which is 2290 meters. The territory of the mountains belongs to a national park, where locals like to relax.

Sofia is a very old city; people already lived here 5 thousand years ago. Before our era, the Thracian tribe of Serds lived here, after which the city began to be called Serdika. In the 4th century, the father of Alexander the Great, Philip, came here and destroyed the city. The Romans ruled here for a long time, the city received another name - Ulpia, given by Emperor Trajan. This city was far from the last in the Roman Empire; Constantine the Great even wanted to move the capital here. Monuments from the times of the Thracians and Romans have survived in Sofia, although they are few in number. The city was destroyed first by the Goths and then by the Huns. It was restored by Emperor Justinian. Then the city was captured by the Turks. The modern name appeared only in 1382. The most important attractions are the Church of St. Sophia, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the rotunda of the Church of St. George, the archaeological complex with Roman architecture, and the Boyana Church.

Sights of Sofia

One of the most ancient monuments in Bulgaria is the Church of St. Sophia, it was in her honor that the city was named, Sofia means wisdom. The church was built back in 313. It was restored by Justinian the Great after the barbarian invasions. In the Middle Ages, it was the main temple where the bishop sat; later, during the rule of the Turks, it became a mosque for a certain time.

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is famous. It is a symbol of liberation from the Turks. It was erected in honor of the Russian soldiers who died in the war and eventually liberated Bulgaria. This temple is located in the very center of Sofia, it is very beautiful, built of white stone, has many columns, friezes and cornices. It contains elements of Russian architecture. The decoration of the cathedral was done by the famous artist Vasnetsov.

Plovdiv

This city is the second largest after Sofia. Plovdiv itself is very picturesque; nearby are the Rhodope Mountains, which can be seen on the horizon. It stands on the Maritsa River. Due to the incredible beauty of the landscape and architecture, Plovdiv is called the city of artists. It was appreciated by the Greek poet Lucian. It is also called a city of contrasts, because its modern buildings are in amazing harmony with ancient buildings.

It is one of the oldest in Europe, the first settlements date back to the Neolithic era, people lived here back in the sixth millennium BC. It is known that in 1200 BC the Thracians lived here. Then Philip II of Macedon conquered it and gave the name to the city - Philippopolis. Plovdiv was also called Odris at that time, the name can be seen on ancient bronze coins. Already in the new era, the Romans came here, and Roman buildings from those times have been preserved in the city. Then the city received the name Trimontium or “city on three hills.” An amphitheater and an Odeon remain here from the Roman Empire. Then the Byzantines came, and the Thracian Greeks were also here. It is interesting that the city has never been completely destroyed or completely abandoned by its inhabitants in its entire long history.

Varna

Varna is a port city, it is spoiled by the attention of tourists, since it is also a resort, and at the same time a financial center and cultural capital. This beautiful city is located in the northeastern part of Bulgaria. It has become a resort thanks to its beautiful sea views, sandy beaches and exotic plants. This is one of the largest cities in Bulgaria in terms of population (more than 300 thousand people). The photo shows beaches, high-rise buildings and a port. This is a developing city, where the ruins of Roman baths happily coexist with massive buildings of the socialist period.

From here you can get to Lake Varna, where excursions are organized to show tourists the ruins of the ancient basilica.

This city is very ancient, like many other cities in Bulgaria. It was founded by Greek colonists in the sixth century BC, at that time the Greeks were actively exploring the coasts of the Aegean and Black Seas. Then the city received the name Odessos. Thanks to its very convenient location, it has become one of the most important ports on the Black Sea. The city was conquered by Alexander the Great, but managed to regain its independence and even become even more prosperous. Then the Romans came here and Bulgaria became part of the Roman Empire. At that time, a huge number of buildings were built, the ruins of which can still be seen today. These were temples, theaters and baths (or Roman baths). Then the city passed into the hands of the Byzantines and was destroyed in 626. After the defeat, it acquired a new name of Slavic origin, which has survived to this day - Varna. It came under the rule of the Turks and was liberated, like other cities in Bulgaria, only after the Russian-Turkish war.

The attractions of Varna include the “Driven Stones” - stone columns that are located 18 kilometers from the city.

Euxinograd also deserves attention - it is the residence of the royal family on the seashore.

Tourists often visit the Seaside Park. It is located on the seashore, there are many alleys, flower beds, various sculptures and fountains. There is a dolphinarium, a zoo and a terrarium. The park also has its own beach.

Roman baths or baths have been preserved since the 2nd century. They occupy a vast territory and are located in the very center of the city among residential buildings.

Believers, especially Orthodox Christians, will be interested in: the Assumption Cathedral, the Armenian Church of St. Sarkis and the Aladzha rock monastery.

Burgas

This is one of the largest cities in Bulgaria, it is the largest in the south-eastern part of the country. In fourth place in terms of population. This is one of the cities in Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast. It is located on the shores of the Burgas Bay. The city is surrounded on three sides by lakes: Burgas, Mandra and Atanasovsko. Once upon a time, the city of Pyrgos was founded by the Greeks on the site of Burgas, then the Roman city of Deultum was here.

Tourists come to Burgas for its beautiful beaches and warm climate. In addition, it has its own historical attractions. Here you can see the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Deultuma, which are located 17 km from modern Burgas. The ancient settlement of Akve Kalide is also known - it was a fortified settlement of the Thracians. It is also called Thermopolis or Therma. Perhaps due to the fact that thermal waters come to the surface here. Famous personalities such as Philip of Macedon, Emperor of Rome Justinian, and Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent visited here.

In Burgas you can visit a peacock farm. Several dozen birds of incredible beauty live here. Excursions are organized here, which are popular. Breeding these birds is a very labor-intensive process, but it is worth it, as peacocks are very beautiful due to their plumage. By the way, there are not only common green birds here, but also snow-white ones.

From apartments I recommend - Victorio, 300 meters to the beach, budget, kitchen and other home amenities.

Sunny Beach

Most popular resort in Bulgaria along with Golden Sands. Nevertheless, this is a budget place for a family vacation. There are many 2*-3* hotels. The main life hack of this place is not to settle in the center of the resort if you don’t want to join the company of British students and feel the “atmosphere” of frenzy and revelry.

There is no such luxurious greenery as in St. Constantine and Helena, but the housing is a little cheaper and the sea is warmer due to the fact that the resort is located further south. Nearby are Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Burgas.

Resort Sozopol

– a calmer, intimate town for family holidays with a beautiful ancient historical part. A good beach of great length - from the “cultured” one closer to the center to the wild nudist one in the remote part. There is also a large selection of catering - from shawarma to decent establishments on the embankment.

In the vicinity of Sozopol, for those who like privacy, I can recommend a couple of hotels.

ARKUTINO RESORT 4*- a cozy and very quiet hotel near , suitable for families with children, no discos, but organic products from the farm and a fresh Black Sea breeze. The hotel is located on a hill - you will have to go up and down often. Walking to the sea along a wooden boardwalk through the Dunes - this has its own romance.

LAGUNA BEACH RESORT & SPA 4*- on the other hand, it is located on the coast and is suitable for families for a long holiday. Apartments of varying sizes and prices, there are three-storey villas with kitchens and terraces, some are surprising in scale and luxury for Bulgaria.
