Crimea has long been a base for training athletes throughout the Soviet Union for the Olympic Games, therefore, in previous years, many unique sports facilities and Olympic reserve schools were built. Many of them, for example, the Alushta base of the Olympic reserve "Spartak", the Simferopol Lokomotiv stadium, the Yalta stadium with the Avangard hotel, yacht clubs in Sevastopol, Evpatoria, Feodosia, Artek still provide excellent opportunities for training and recreation for athletes: athletes, cyclists, football players, and of course, for various types of sailing and water sports, diving.
Tennis courts exist at various levels, both for international tournaments (“Dynamo” in Simferopol) and for amateur activities, for example, at many health resorts (“Neva” in Alushta) and large hotels (“Yalta”). It’s great when they are located in ancient parks, for example in Massandrovsky in Yalta or the park of the Children’s Creativity Center in Alushta. In general, the health resorts of Sudak and Gurzuf have the highest density of tennis courts and other sports facilities; we can also highlight Koktebel, Work Corner, Livadia, Miskhor. Among the young resorts is Peschanoye. In Nikolaevka, the boarding house “Izumrud” is the leader in this sense.
Tennis courts and general attention to sports are mandatory for all sanatoriums of the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Russia and law enforcement agencies in general. Elite health resorts that previously served the party nomenklatura also respect tennis and team sports.
Simferopol and Sevastopol have good conditions and a high level of boxing, and the international “Black Sea Cup” has high prestige.
The Alushta Olympic base “Spartak” is undoubtedly one of the best training and recreation centers for athletes in the country. In addition to spacious indoor halls and playing fields for various purposes, it has wonderful playgrounds simply under a high canopy. Surrounded by evergreen trees, through which the mountains and the sea are visible, they are surrounded by the purest air of the Alushta valley.
In recent years, the Olympic Center, created in the Primorye tourist and health complex in Koktebel, has been steadily gaining strength.
Multiple world champion Anatoly Pisarenko participated in the creation of a training center for the country's Olympic team in this sport at the Primorye tourist and health complex in Koktebel. There are all conditions for training, modern sports equipment and even a special microclimate in the room is maintained with the help of air conditioners.
The strongest volleyball teams also train at the same base. An athletics arena is equipped. There are constantly applications from boxers, wrestlers, biathletes, as well as representatives of other sports.
In April, Primorye hosts an international youth tennis tournament for the Crimea Tour prize. About 120 people traditionally take part in it. Tennis players continue their tournament at the Horizon tourist and recreation complex in Sudak.
The equipment of the Olympic Center in Koktebel was also important in terms of preparing Ukrainian teams for the Olympics in Athens. Greece is a country close to us both in location and in climatic conditions.
However, the natural conditions of Crimea are unusually diverse, so for many countries hosting the Olympic Games and the most important European and world championships, it is possible to select similar conditions.
The sports and fitness center located in the resort village of Nikolaevka, on the western coast of Crimea, bears the proud name “Avangard”. In Soviet times, they prepared for competitions here - and then confidently won! – Olympic champions, famous weightlifters Leonid Zhabotinsky, Yuri Vlasov. From 1990 to 1997, multiple World and European champion, 1996 Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Ekaterina Serebryanskaya trained at Avangard. Director of the Avangard SOC Valery Levchenko maintains the base’s sports facilities in full readiness. Guests can enjoy playgrounds for team sports, a pavilion for boxing and rhythmic gymnastics.

Fitness rooms and fitness-clubs are very popular and widespread in all cities and large towns, there are permanent groups and hourly pay. Large hotels and tourist centers have gyms and often gym towns in parks. In sanatoriums, exercise equipment is part of the health and treatment program. It is successfully complemented by various types of massage, a Finnish sauna, and sometimes a Russian bath. Baths and saunas for small groups (4-10 people) with rooms for relaxation and food are common in hotels, tourist centers and sports complexes.

Dances: sports and others
Perhaps the No. 1 sport in modern post-Soviet countries is ballroom dancing and modern athletic dancing. In any case, in terms of the abundance of clubs, the number of children in them and the frequency of competitions. The largest competitions - at the World Championship level - are held in the Yalta hotel, in other tourist complexes - in Partenit, in Nikolaevka (the Energetik boarding house - there is just perfect parquet flooring in a very beautiful and spacious hall), in Alushta, in Sudak competitions are also held , providing excellent opportunities for recreation.
The Artek International Center holds a whole specialized session in sports ballroom dancing, and there are several thousand participants. The same session in Artek is dedicated to classical ballet.
Folk and pop dances are also honored at various children's festivals - Evpatoria, Feodosia, Kerch, Yalta, Alushta and other resorts.

Diving and water sports
On rocky shores, visibility reaches 15 - 20 meters. Sunken ships of various eras, wonderful grottoes, tens of meters long, marine reserves, a rich underwater world. Specialized diving centers in the village of Olenevka on Tarkhankut, in Sudak, in Koktebel, in Novy Svet, in Vesely, in Sevastopol, Yalta ("Aquasport" center and the "Aquasport" program) train adults and even children from 7 to 16 years old in scuba diving. Ranger's Ring"). Underwater photography is even easier; it does not require extensive training or special diving depth. Underwater photographers also work at all popular diving sites.
On most Crimean beaches, sometimes in the most unexpected places, but more often near ports, piers, yacht clubs and lifeguard stations, you will be gladly offered (for a moderate or exorbitant fee, depending on the season and the severity of competition) rental or freight: motor hang gliders and hot air balloons, single and double (with instructor pilot) paragliders, yachts, boats, jet skis, sailing boards, boats, pedal boats, diving equipment and even deep-sea bathyscaphes. You can be towed behind the boat by paraglider, water ski or inflatable banana raft. Most of them also require good strength and endurance, and, say, sailing also requires strong nerves.
Although all these entertainments are not very difficult to manage, and the instructions usually come down to a few minutes, it is still better to read something about sails, parachutes, motorboating or diving at home (or talk to experts).

Mountain bike
Crimea was a province of various empires, as well as a land on which many state entities were formed. Each era created its own transport network, and each of them left us abandoned sections of roads in deserted, pristinely clean, picturesque places, with an abundance of natural and historical attractions.
In the first centuries AD, the Romans built the first roads through the mountains. And during the Middle Ages, an extensive network of pack trails developed in the Crimean Mountains, many of which remained away from modern highways. These trails now provide ideal conditions for mountain bike tourism.
Departing from Simferopol to Alushta, within 1-2 hours you cross several plant zones and from the temperate zone you find yourself in the subtropics. Particularly comfortable conditions in summer are created by park alleys in the ancient estates of the aristocracy and mountain roads, above which the crowns of huge trees close in a green tunnel.

Rocks and caves

Ideal conditions for rock climbing - amateur and sport: you can expand and diversify loads, develop new techniques and test new equipment endlessly and quite safely.
In autumn, the Moscow rock climbing championships are usually held on the rocks near the village of Foros. Well-known climbing walls are equipped in accordance with international requirements. This is the Nikitskaya Cleft near Yalta, Mount Sokol near Sudak. The western outskirts of Yalta are dominated by the steep outcast mountain Krestovaya (Stavri-kaya), famous among climbers all over the world. Climber Mikhail Khergiani, the “tiger of the rocks,” climbed a 90-meter steep cliff in 5 minutes. 5 sec.
All climbing walls in Crimea (and there are dozens of them, and in Simferopol itself Petrovsky Rocks and Chokurcha are equipped) are free.

Aeronautics and airsports
Paragliding, parachuting and light aviation in their modern Russian and Ukrainian form were born on Mount Klimentyev (Uzun-syrt) in Koktebel (known as Planerskoye - what can I say?). The wonderful possibilities of the Ai-Petri and Chatyrdag plateaus are also known, a little simpler than the deltadrome near Simferopol near the villages of Stroganovka and Pozharsky.
Several international competitions and festivals are held in Koktebel during the summer season. Strong flying clubs also exist in Simferopol, Sevastopol, and Dzhankoy.
For several years in a row, the Ukrainian Open Aeronautics Championship has been held in early May in Feodosia. Last year, for example, 16 crews from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania, Austria and the Netherlands took part in it.

Martial arts camps

In the summer, many clubs of martial arts and eastern spiritual teachings, including those from outside Crimea, practice in classic “monastic” conditions - in the mountains, among pure nature, near places sacred since ancient times, known for their inexplicably powerful energy. These are, for example, the Chatyrdaga plateau, the vicinity of the Red Caves, Laspi Bay.
The possibilities of paintball are well presented by the Chernomor-Tour company (Sevastopol) at the Atlantic children's scout camp. The mountain-forest area near Sevastopol, where the camp is located, provides an ideal opportunity to shoot plenty of pellets (Canadian equipment is used).

Extreme culture: from hip-hop to breakdancing
Extreme culture, the meaning of which can be briefly expressed by the words “nothing too much,” in Crimea has all its components: urban, beach and mountain.
If we delve a little deeper into the planetary meaning of these games with death in the fresh air, then we should make a distinction (more precisely, there is a deep chasm) between extreme sports, for example, parachuting, which originate from sports and are still based on discipline and formalities, and extreme games as part of youth culture, in which there simply cannot be any formalities. It has already become common knowledge that extreme sports are briefly called “extreme”; this is also the name of the club in Alushta, famous for its motocross competitions. Extreme sports are mainly practiced by people over 30 years of age and with extensive sports experience. However, the Alushta mini-motocross track also attracts young people - slides, “airplanes”, earthen jumps and other obstacles are located here very densely, one after another, so that the riding turns out to be very dynamic and spectacular.
Not so interesting for spectators, but much more exciting for riders is riding through the mountainous expanses of the Yayl in jeeps. They can be rented in Simferopol, Alushta, Sevastopol.
Youth entertainment is on the verge of hooliganism: skateboarding, aggressive rollers, stunt riding on BMX bicycles, breakdancing, graffiti, etc. are briefly called “extreme”. Here, sports experience only gets in the way; everything comes from the obscure energy of youth fashion. The leader of extreme sports in Crimea and the main system place is “Tabletka”, a concrete fire pit at the Palace of Pioneers in Simferopol. This is the oldest operating extreme park in the entire post-Soviet space, founded in 1991 and recently received a modern look.
There is also an area for roller skating and other things in Evpatoria (Frunze Park). In Yalta, Sevastopol, Feodosia, extreme sports enthusiasts meet on the embankments; in Alushta, the grandiose embankment of the Professor's Corner has 8 km of good coverage. There are also good conditions on the Gurzuf embankment (except for August, when there are a lot of vacationers).
Urban extreme in Crimea has a classic street style, for example, breakdancing is not done in basements, as in Moscow or Kyiv, but right on the street, in parks, on embankments - the climate allows.
In Crimea, unlike the capital cities, there is no confrontation between fans of certain extreme sports; on the contrary, usually everyone is involved or shows interest in everything: advanced roller skaters master skateboarding, break dancing and drawing graffiti.
The biggest movement now is in breakdancing, since after all there is no need for expensive equipment or special equipment. Everywhere where there is a patch of smooth concrete and even just on the grass, boys and girls tumble, spin and curl in electric waves. Also on the big rise are new street athletics such as parkour and work-out, again in the fresh air.
Large international breaking competitions are held in Yalta, judged by legendary b-boys from Moscow and other important centers of street culture.
Serious hip-hop life is in full swing in the summer in Simeiz and Evpatoria. But in Sevastopol, rock clubs, metal, punk and other guitar music are traditionally stronger. Recent years, or rather summers, have become unusually fruitful for bikers on simply picturesque motorcycles and in appropriate outfits. The most interesting thing is that this subculture also has its own traditional competition program, so that, although they are far from athletic, their champions are born from beer foam. The Sevastopol branch of the famous Moscow club "Night Wolves" holds motocross events on Sapun Mountain and other sporting events at its base near Mount Gasforta off the highway to Yalta.

Winter sports and entertainment
30 km from Simferopol and 12 km from Alushta, the main ridge of the Crimean Mountains is cut through by the Angarsk Pass (752 m above sea level). Snow (30-50 cm) here is good for winter sports and recreation from January to early March. For skiers (they need to go to the right from the weather station), two lines of a rope tow were previously equipped, 600 m each, with a height difference of 450 m. A ski school was organized, and rental of all kinds of sleds and skis was organized. Nothing is open right now, but there are sled rentals and toboggan slopes, and they offer sleigh rides behind a snowmobile. Delivery and excursions for groups are possible. The most important thing is that the control and rescue service is on duty.

The Ai-Petri plateau is located above Yalta. There is up to one and a half meters of snow there, and it often lies until mid-April. There is a drag lift right next to the weather station at the Yalta entrance, and the slope is very good for beginners. Above are endless white hills, along which even a Canadian lumberjack happily drives a snowmobile. Ski joring is a special pleasure: a dozen skiers cling to a towbar and rush behind a snowmobile at a decent speed. Snowmobiles usually go to several ski lifts for advanced skiers. Freestyle skiing competitions were even held here. Extreme parks for snowboarding are equipped.

The sanatorium is located in a quiet corner of ancient Kerch, at the crossroads of two seas - the Black and Azov seas on the territory of its own beautiful park of 6 hectares. The sanatorium has its own sandy beach with a coastline of more than 400 meters, a modern medical center with the latest European equipment and a sports complex that allows classes and training in various sports.
